Big hug to you harassed hope you get the reassurance you need soon.

hurrah for scan emma I'm all for having all the scans you need.

I've had some very weird dreams too, very vivid when I wake up but I can't remember them now.

Being back at work is odd as my manager is on a business trip this week and the rest of my team are in a different time zone. So although I know people in the office where I'm based they are not yet really friends so no-one has welcomed me back or wanted to know how my holiday was. Sad plus the ones I do know slightly better are all off on the same business trip.

I had 750 emails, not really sure where to start......probably being on MN isn't going to get them read is it?

harassedandherbug · 12/09/2011 08:38

I'm just having a freak out. Baby bug hasn't moved much over the last 12-15 hours. Much less than normal anyway. There are some movements but all in different place to normal, and not at the normal times. I have an anterior placenta, so he could have moved behind that..... still freaking though.

Have phoned in sick and am waiting for birth centre to open.

Will update you all later x

wombatinwaiting · 12/09/2011 08:19

Oh and worm - forgot to answer your qu about returning to work. I'm actually handing in my written notice this week - eek! I'm looking to finish on 12th Oct which will give me about 5/6 weeks off pre wombatjunior's arrival. With the shitty 45 days maternity leave you get (plus an additional 90 days if you can get a doc's note Confused ) I am definitely not going back then. I may do some consultancy work for them perhaps 9/12 months down the line but I'm going to see how I feel. At the moment, not working after 16 years of working feels distinctly odd....

wombatinwaiting · 12/09/2011 07:53

Yay emma! Smile - so pleased for your wriggly scan. And I would second worm's suggestion of another one if it helps with the mentalling.

Your dream made me chuckle worm - I'm also having loads and seemingly all night and about all sorts of people - nothing remotely pg related though.... yes, we do get advanced care here, but we have to pay for it (well, partly pay) - it's quite annoying as here in Dubai, by law, companies have to cover you for up to approx GBP3.5k, whereas down the road in Abu Dhabi, the law is up to approx GBP20k. We have about 2k left after all the scans / appts etc. but what makes me v Angry is that the insurance company only "allows" one pg per year and they take mcs into account so we started off with less cover than we should have - grrrr.....

Boo to being back at work yellow.... will be v interested about your pelvic floor management - well, not yours personally Blush, but the course! Grin

And yes, mrsb - we are desperate for an update - how are you doing??

Bacon sarnies all round - droooool......

Wormshuffler · 12/09/2011 07:09

Emma thats great news, if it will make you feel better to have another scan then go for it!

harassed could you look up about nappies please? I have heard good things about the aldi and lidl ones? Just wondering if Which back that up? Many thanks

Horray for movements yellow they are very subtle at first and freaky! DH managed to see bump move yesterday, He is getting really excited now which is great considering I had to twist his arm to get PG!

Thanks for the info re the 3 and 4d scans wombat you certainly get more advanced care over there! Did you ever make a decision about if you are returning to work post baby or not?

My dreams are ramping up in mental-ness they are so vivid! I feel like I have been watching films all night. Last night DH was out clubbing with Vernon Kay and when I went to pick them up and pay the bar bill of £1200 Shock

emmaandthestar · 11/09/2011 21:14

just a quick post to say all wet well, it measured 9 weeks exactly and had a wiggle.
Was really tough in the lead up to it and how tempting to have another before the 12 week...

Hope you are all ok, Yellow I think you would need to put the sides up each time if you are not in bed & glad you are managing your pelvic floor - I don't have any left to manage now!!

yellowtomato · 11/09/2011 17:38

Afternoon all

emma how did it go today?

harassed thanks for the offer, I am interested in those cots that you push up against the bed and ones with slidy/removeable sides. I read they had been banned in US so i guess wanted to be sure about the safety. We have a narrow bed frame sticking out round the bed so the cot would either have to be one of those attaching ones or one pushed up close with the mattress pulled over with a towel or something pushed down the other side to make up the gap. Does that sound too makeshift/dangerous? And if the bed is set up like that would 'Bob' be able to have a nap in there when I'm not in bed or would I have to put the side back on each time?

Glad check-up went well wombat I'm counting the days to my scan on 19th, am so impatient. I think I can feel movements today but they are so subtle it is difficult to be sure.

worm that sounds like a good plan, maybe also for letting tradesmen in/deliveries. Such a pain otherwise..........

I am doing a 'manage your pelvic floor' course at the hospital this week as well as yoga for pregnancy in the evening. It all makes it more real somehow.

mrsb33 how are you doing?

Back to work tomorrow.........boo.........I'm sure my blackberrry will catch fire when I turn it back on. I'm going to miss my daytime naps!

wombatinwaiting · 11/09/2011 11:03

Ooh - thanks for the offer harassed - is there anything there on moses baskets and / or cotbed mattresses?

Very best of luck today emma - do let us know how you get on. We're all virtually holding your hand.

Thanks for the advice on sleeping with/without the baby in the room worm and sparkly - I think this is one I will be putting my foot down on. Also, while we don't have the same cold weather issues here, I hate getting out of bed in the middle of the night (although am almost used to it now with the 2 pee stops per night....!)

Please don't mention that crumpet loaf again sparkly - my keyboard cannot survive the drooling!

We have had 2 x 3D and 1 x 4D scan already worm and we definitely couldn't see anything - the sonographer was extremely good at discarding the pictures which obviously gave things away (either that or wombatjunior was ugly and he didn't want to give us those shots!) I think your money making scheme is genius - you may just have to be a bit careful with the new addition in tow - some people get dead funny about babies being in their homes....

Didn't get measured yesterday, but blood pressure fine. Had a very quick scan as ob/gyn was rushing to hospital for a delivery. Wombatjunior looked ok as far as we could tell and Ronald seemed ok with it all. We have a full-on scan booked for 3 weeks time which will be nice to see - hopefully the 3D bit will be better too -last time he was very alien-like.....

Bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese today - yum!

Wormshuffler · 10/09/2011 07:11

Morning ladies, apologies for my last garbled post, it was via phone so harder to review before posting [must try harder emocion]

Ah I have everything crossed for you emma all the best for today I bet it has been the longest 6 weeks of your life!

Thanks for the offer harassed I am wracking my brains! I have no plans for any major purchases though, I am definately having a cut price baby this time! I am getting everything except the cot second hand and then flogging it all afterwards!

I second the having the baby close by wombat at least for the first few weeks, more for your own sanity and peace of mind. There are times when babies just wake for no real reason and all they need is a little face stroke/dummy insertion Shock, if you don't get to it quick it can become a full blown screaming fit! My DS was only with us 3 weeks as he was a better sleeper than DD (a year and still awake half the night [yawn])
Re your breathlessness, It's normal can you remember I had it from 8 to 12 weeks? it's just stuff moving around. How did it go with Ronald? Lucy looks a delight! and I don't even like dogs!

I am also tempted by having a 4d scan star dh is not keen on the price though and I am a little worried I would end up seeing the sex when I really want to keep team yellow.

Where are you with your cycle at the moment wellie? how is it all going?

harrased Confused by the measuring 4 weeks too big, and as we all know your date,s we were here! it is a physical impossibility for it to have been concieved any earlier! Hoping it is a growth spurt, try not to fret me dear. Hope they can sort out the spd soon too.........what a worry, you are certainly not having the bast time with this one, only 15 weeks to go :)

So I have been busy trying to come up with post birth money making schemes, today's genius idea is to offer a house looking after service for people who work all day and leave pets, or go away on holiday, I am thinking it is something I could do just in the village with the new addition tagging along. What do you reckon?

Have a lovely weekend ladies x

emmaandthestar · 09/09/2011 20:34

Hello,
Glad Star got a good scan, I would def suggest getting a 4d one later on, it's a great experience.
Well, i have been mentalling constantly, DH keeps telling me to 'calm down' and 'you're making it worse' which really helps... anyway I have booked an early scan for tomorrow as I will be 9.5weeks which is when I lost the last baby - but carried it until the 12 week scan and don't think I can face that again.

Please have everything crossed for a positive experience.

Sparkly I'm with you on the keeping them close at first, I did used to prod DD to check :)

harassedandherbug · 09/09/2011 13:33

Quick message and I'll be back later!

I've just signed up for a Which trial, so let me know if you want me to look at anything or message me.

Sparklywine · 09/09/2011 08:34

Oooh, crumpets! I love crumpets! My local bakery does a crumpet loaf, which makes dense, sweet toast. Hom!
Feeling much better today, perhaps because we're off for a week after today, yahoo! Nothing much planned, as per usual (leaving 4 cats is quite difficult) but we are really looking forward to the break and doing more on the house
Yellow, there was an interesting thread yesterday about how long to have your bubs in the same room as you. Some solid, valid researched opinions, and some hysteria (the SIDS research was open to interpretation, shall we say). DH is a really heavy sleeper so Monty's snuffles will not rouse him, and I think I will be slightly paranoid mum () so will want him close to start with, though part of this is the thought of getting out of my bed in the early hours of a dark January morning!
Glad Lucy has settled in Wombat, and that you've a little companion for the family. Breathlessness is quite normal apparently, all our vitals being squeezed! You sound like you're being active, which will help.
Star, glad you got good news, always a relief. Bubs may have been hiding his bits! I wouldn't be surprised to find a little girl, devious of nature and wily of spirit, popping out of me in December - let's hope she suits blue! Grin
Harassed, sorry you are having a tough time of it, spd sounds awful. Sending hugs, and some apricot jam for your crumpets x

wombatinwaiting · 09/09/2011 07:15

welcome back yellow! China sounds v interesting. Am with you on the humidity thing - come here and try it if you fancy some more! I think the extra phlegm thing is normal - I read the reason for it somewhere but can't remember it now.... I was tempted with those side cot bed things too - they do it so one side folds down and under very easily. DH v against it as thinks bub should sleep in nursery from day one and he says his DSs were all v noisy sleepers. I am yet to be convinced! re: car seat - can you borrow one from friends / rellies for the one day?

Grin at your pool-side pervs sparkly - not surprised it put you off! Hope your cold gets better soon.

REally don't have any advice to offer harassed I"m sorry to say but sending big bar of raisin and biscuit yorkie your way at the thought of a normal delivery with all that pain around your nether regions....

Great news for a good scan star - how's the mentalling now?

Good to hear from you yellow - have you tried much in the way of stretching / yoga for your pains? I am not as regular at doing them as I should be, but I think they do make a difference - having always suffered from lower back pain, I am amazed that (touch wood, looks out for black cat etc.) it doesn't seem too bad so far. Poor DS with all that study etc. but I'm sure he'll be grateful for it in the end.

29 week appt tomorrow with Ronald McDonald (my new ob/gyn with the great ball of orange curly hair) - hoping I'll get measured too and blood pressure taken as heart rate increase and ridiculous breathlessness is sometimes a bit of a worry.....

Not sure if I told you that we renamed the pooch from Beauty to Lucy, which she seems to respond to better than Beauty. It would have been one of our choices for a girl, but DH thinks that with my surname (we are going double barrelled, we think, even though I generally don't like double barrelled-ness) she would have sounded like a porn star Shock Blush - I have to admit that he's not too far off the mark..... we are going back to the dog shelter tomorrow to officially adopt her - she really has settled in wonderfully and we think she'll be pretty good with wombatjunior.

Hot crumpets and butter for all! x

Star82 · 08/09/2011 20:27

Ah sorry all. Thought i had posted results on here. Everything looks to be ok. In the absense of anything tail like, she decided to go with a girl Hmm. I wouldn't have been convinced by her due to how she put it, but the sexing scan a few weeks ago said girl too. Think we'll roll with that. Might have 4d scan so can double check then. I'm 19 weeks tomorrow yellow so not far behind you :)

Wormshuffler · 08/09/2011 17:54

Hi girls
Welcome back yellow with your phlem and sparklys green chocolate gorging (only kidding sparlkes) its jolly grren around here today!
My 2 penneth on the moses basket thing is that mine DC's didn't like it in the cot straight away, they had a moses basket for about a month, I thing they felt more secure in a smaller space ? I have managed to get one off an old school friend for the measly sum of a bottle of plonk! That drop down side thing sounds ace though, ooohhh the advances since my day when I did it all the first time!
Aqua Zumba sounds Fab wombat ! I wish they did that here............ I am getting absolutely huge and not just on my bump. My legs have ballooned Blush and I can't even walk to help as was my plan, as every time I walk more than 3 minutes a get a stitch like pain at the bottom right of my bump. Doctor google reckons it's "round ligament pain"? if thats all I am going to get I can put up with it, I will be getting off alot easier than harassed with SPD? (does anyone else read that and think of silent but deadly farts?- no probably just me)
Well the back to school stress is all over with, although I do really feel for DS, he has his 11+ a week on saturday and they are practising every day at school, I didn't know that was going to happen and now wish I hadn't been quite so pushy with his practise over the summer hols........ poor lad. DD has gained an attitude in the first week back that will be squashed with a mighty force the next time it rears it's head!
Waves to wellie (good news about the results Grin Mrsb come on here and moan some time! and everyone else xx

Sparklywine · 08/09/2011 16:56

Yellow, welcome back and well done on your infiltration! Just a quickie from me, I need to leave on time to snooze. I have purchased the Cosatto Hogarth cotbed, which is initially a cot with adjustable sides. Whilst the side doesn't go down quite as low as our mattress, I've a high bed so figure it will be thereabouts, and don't think I'd want Monts to just roll out and over to my resting boob anyway Grin so it will form a buffer that is hopefully low enough for me to lazily roll over and haul him out for a feed or cuddle, as intend to push it up against the bed. Hope that makes sense - we put it up last week as a cotbed for dniece and are pleased with ease of putting upness, and overall finish so far. I'll let you know when we convert it how it seems. Got the bamboo mattress
I can't believe I have eaten an entitre huge mint aero. They just sort of melt, don't they?

harassedandherbug · 08/09/2011 13:46

Hello all!

Firstly my whinge Wink: I had mw last night and I'm measuring 28wks when I should be 25 wks, plus they brought me forward 6 days at 12wk scan when I know my dates were spot on. So effectively I could be measuring 4 wks too big. I have to go back in 3wks so she can see if it's a growth spurt, or if the boy is just big! If it's big, then I have to have a growth scan and GTT. Oh joy! She referred me to consultant for my spd too. I have to say the thought of pushing a big baby out of my dodgy and painful pelvis is slightly off-putting Hmm.

yellow hope you're having a good time! Sorry can't help with cots, but kiddicare.com have some good offers on carseats. I sure some are reduced to £40. I plan on paying Which £1 tonight and getting their car seat report, as that's my next buy I think. I'll share what they say! I'm not fussed about having one that fits on the buggy, so will be buying whatever suits us.

Oh and I had the snotty thing too. Try a Sterimar nasal spray. It's saline and really helps. Pharmacist tried to flog me one, but I remembered dh had a nice new one for a drug trial he was taking part in after his nasal surgery. It wasn't instant, but it did help.

jkklpu welcome! Hope the mentalling isn't too severe.

sparkly I had a thing for mint aero a few weeks ago. Can't look at it now, odd! Hope you feel better soon.

wombat your class sounded fun Grin

wellie your results sounded promising!! Fingers x'd it's just a matter of time. Hope you're bearing up, do come and moan at us xx

star any scan news??

I'm shattered! I was awake most of the night due to sore pelvis, and up for about two hours. You know when you feel you drop off just before the alarm?? That's how I was this morning. Then dh moaned about being tired..... I was very Hmm, especially as I heard the snoring!

Went out to the pub with girls from preg yoga last night. We do get some funny looks when turn up all very obviously prg! Hope the men aren't earwigging, they might get put off for life Grin.

yellowtomato · 08/09/2011 13:31

Hello ladies

I am back!! So well done to all those who correctly guessed, I was in China. We had great fun, it's jolly hot over there though, about 35 degrees and very humid. Been suffering a bit with jet lag and tiredness but feeling better today.

wellie I think fsh being low is good.......I think the lower the better because the higher it is the less fertility is left because it is the amount of hormone needed to get you to ovulate. If you only need a bit you are young and fertile, if you need a lot then your body has to work really hard to crank out an egg. Well that is my understanding but as wombat says there are some very knowledgeable ladies on mn in conception and assisted conception who are very helpful.

sparkly good work on the mint aero......but you made me want some now. Sorry about the cold but have you been feeling generally a bit better and less grey?

star how did the scan go? I think we're about the same stage, I am 19+3 today but don't get my scan until I'll be 21 weeks which is a week on Monday. I am also feeling very nervous about it, feel paranoid that something might have gone wrong. I think I might have felt some gentle movements but also that may just have been wind/wishful thinking.

harassed well done to mr harassed for a good fight. I can't bear to watch fighting/boxing etc even when it's v fake in films etc nevermind real life. Much have been so stressful to watch. Does also sound like your life is v busy and full of stress.......bacon sarnies are def the way forward.

wombat how are you getting on with the new dog, when will your probation period be up? She looked very cute.......

So........some tmi coming up so anyone feeling a bit queasy look away now.....so i've got quite a stuffed up nose, particularly at night which is meant to be normal..........but I also wake up with lots and lots of phlegm.....almost choking on the stuff. Is this something to worry about or is it normal?

Ok it's safe again now, I've finished being gross......

We're off to see a couple of nurseries now.......they are the two nearest my flat so really hoping that they seem ok. Not sure really how to tell but hoping to be inspired. Have read the ofsted and online for opinions but most seem to be at least a year out of date.

We've also looked at cots.......i liked the idea of a cot that you take the side off and push up against your bed so that you can feed in the night without getting up (lazy, moi?) but now am having doubts, can you put the baby in there to sleep in the day when your not in bed too, is it safe? We are just planning on having a cot and no moses basket of anything due to lack of space.......any advice?

And whilst we were looking at buggies we were told we'd need a car seat or wouldn't be allowed to leave the hospital. But we don't have a car. So £100 on a car seat seems a bit much......thoughts?

Hmmm, didn't mean to write such an essay, well done if you've got this far!

Sparklywine · 08/09/2011 13:01

I so would not have hated it, I love exercise! Grin

Actually I love the water so wouldn't find it too gruesome, but the pool would have to be quite deep, last time I went to aquarobics the pool height was level with my belly button and my huge norks nearly knocked me out. Plus it was embarrassing as some men had lined up along the pool, pretending to cool down from their sauna but clearly with the express intention of ogling rows of tits.
Have a cold at the moment so feeling sorry for myself, the only thing that seems to have eased the symptoms is an entire family-sized bar of mint aero, I think it's the herbal properties of the mint Grin
Wellie, results seem quite positive for you, it's just a matter of time hopefully. Welcome jkklpu, congratulations on your pregnancy. Read your profile, and your slightly cagey divulgence of occupation, do you know our Yellow by any chance? You may know her as Y Grin

wombatinwaiting · 08/09/2011 10:28

Hey wellie - good to hear from you and thanks for your update. Would really like to help with the FSH level but I'm a bit clueless - you could start a new thread on the conception board to get advice - the combined knowledge on mn is staggering and you'll get some really helpful advice, if you fancied it. Slightly more reliable than Dr Google too I think. I salute your enthusiasm and am adding mine to it too Smile.

How was your scan star? Hope all ok.

jkklpu - how is the mentalling going? Let us know when you decide to have your scan.

Went to my first aquazumba class this morning - hmmm.... don't think I'll be aiming for best student in that class for a while! It was fun though - plenty of hip waggling etc. Fortunately there is another pg lady in the class too and we were laughing our way through most of it as we were both useless. I think you would have hated it sparkly!

wellieboots · 07/09/2011 12:18

Hi ladies!

Sorry, not much time to catch up - hope everyone is well!

We got results back this week - DH's results were OK (not perfect but probably not a big deal) and he said mine were normal although he gave me them away with me, and I think FSH of 4 is quite low?? No idea what it means, I thought high FSH was more of a problem but there you go....he's sending us to see a specialist just to check a few more things out, so that will prob be next month at some point......hopefully we'll be pg by then anyway Smile

jkklpu · 06/09/2011 20:42

@wombat: Thanks for the suggestion. Things were a lot better at work today and managed to complete something I'd been procrastinating over for a while, so the day felt more productive. And I made a note in my calendar of the day when I'll call up to make a gynae appointment pre-scan, which again feels as though it's a sort of progress, even though I know it's not really.
My name is something like that - ds1 once hit the keyboard randomly and part of it came out as my initials, so it kind of stuck.

@Star: Thanks for your thoughts as well. Hope there's good news at the school gate and enthusiasm for going back again tomorrow ....

wombatinwaiting · 06/09/2011 14:38

Boo for back of hols star - great to see your photos -looks like you had a great time. You look very well!

Here's hoping the next 24 hours pass quickly - can't believe you've got to 5 months already - fab! Keeping everything crossed for you and banning the jinx pixies from this thread! x

Star82 · 06/09/2011 11:03

Hi jkklpu, congratulations :). Unsure re work as i can see both sides to why you are unsure what to do. I suppose you know your boss, your job and the nature of how how you are may effect work so i'm sure you'll do whatever you feel is the best course of action. Good luck and i'm sure she would be completely understanding given her past experiences.

Back off hols, boo!! Fab time. Few piccies on fb for those that are on in addition to DD's first day at school. All well i think so far but we shall see come 3.30 Wink.

5 month scan tomorrow around midday. can't wait but still freaking out before every scan and really worrying. I think, i think that as soon as i relax, something bad will happen. Really hoping that everything is ok.

wombatinwaiting · 06/09/2011 09:58

Just fab to hear from you nurse but eeeeek! REally not long to go now! I have a feeling manamana wasn't too far behind you.... We're still team yellow and 28+5 today - don't know where the time has gone! Hope the spd is bearable until babynurse arrives. And yes, mrsb does have a bfp. We're all pulling together for wellie now.

Talking of which, when do you get your / DH's test results back wellie? Hope all is well with you both down under.

Hello and welcome jkklpu - sorry to hear about your mc and a quiet congrats for your bfp. These are not trivialities at all and it's what we're here for. Yes, the time is horribly slow the first 12 weeks or so, the best advice I can give is one day at a time. There is absolutely no harm in booking up a scan before the 10 weeks - they can usually see a heartbeat around 6.5 weeks so if you think it might help with the menatalling, then why not book one up now? It might also help you decide to speak to your boss. In any event, if she has sadly experienced mcs herself, then she will be very understanding and it will give you one less thing to worry about. Out of interest, did you just randomly hit letters on the right hand side of the keyboard to get your name?!!

How's everyone else doing? - marathon - not heard from you in a wee while or emma.... Hope the hols in covert location are going well yellow - are you getting movements yet? How is your sparkle these days sparkly?

Harassed and worm - how were the first days back at school - hope not too stressy!

I had my anti-D injection this morning in the buttock and was asked which buttock I would prefer which threw me a bit! It ended up with the left as I"m right handed - it made sense to the nurse Hmm Confused....!
