This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

Rachee,

Im 35, and went to doc after 1yr of trying but no bfp. Waited and waited for NHS appointment, so I went private 4 months ago as the stress of waiting was too much for me .(NHS finally came thru with a date in Dec 06 theres no way I could have held out that long) Im much happier now as my consultant moves quick, and Ive alot of tests already done.

trace2,
fantastic news

DD1.........

trace2 · 12/07/2006 08:48

Rachee, thinking of you,you know my e-mail if you want to chat!

ShouldKnowByFriday, sorry you are feeling down

DD1ofcolandgerry , i was told even on clomid i didnt ovulate, this months was 19 highst its been, but i got my bfp yesyerday, so there is hope

ShouldKnowByFriday · 11/07/2006 23:55

Rachee, your comment ' we ovulate from different sides every month', well I have been scanned each cycle )except after miscarriage when I took a one month break) since January and I have ONLY ovulated on my right side. Astonishing! I have no history of any gynea problems but this is I am ovulating.

Rachee · 11/07/2006 23:27

DD1 .... what is your age ? day 21 test can be diff , cause don't forget we ov from diff sides each month..... i am on 100 mgs clomid too, normally given to regulate you.... what were your reasons for going to the docs, and going private ????

Good luck XxxX

coggy · 11/07/2006 22:15

Rachee.... that you are still waiting.
Hopefully I'll get to 'talk' to you before Sunday.

Hello everybody. Have been checking this thread for preg announcements but haven't felt like posting as I am trying to forget that I am ttc-ing and it is all consuming.

Rachee I hope your op is as painless and easy as possible and hope you make a speedy recovery and get preq quick.

Dizzy, I am in the same position as you. This is my 4th and last clomid cycle of 100mg and if this is not successful then its on to the injectibles. The first month I got preg with 2 follicles and miscarried, and then the other 2 cycles have resulted in 1 follicle only and no pregnancy so this is my fourth. Was told by consultant that the injectibles result in more follicles so there is a higher risk of twins and the risks that go with twins pregnancies. But he said the clomid should work when he did my scan on day 11 on my last cycle which of course it didn't. The general medical feeling is that if clomid is going to work for a patient, it does in the first 3 months and a small percentage of women get preg in month 4,5,6. Have you been advised to move on to the injectibles? I used to be terrified of needles but have really got used to them since all the tests and hcg jabs.

I am on day 6 of 4th cycle and have my first scan next Monday and then its all systems go with BDing!

Good luck everybody!!!!!!!

DD1ofcolandgerry · 11/07/2006 21:17

Im new to all of this
Have been TTC for 2 yrs, still waiting on NHS so went private. GP did day 21 test last Nov...result 54 (should be over 30 Im told) so I looked ok and was happy. Private consultant repeated in March and it was 16 ( now sad). DH sperm could in consultants own words "populate the universe". Had ultrasound and no sign of PCOS. Had lap and dye test 2 weeks ago and everything here looks great. Today started Clomid 100 mg . My consultant had instructed me to take on day 1-5. which apparently the new way to take it. Is there anyone out there who is at the same stage or anyone shead light why my day 21 tests were so different? Also I wonder why I was started on 100mg instead of 50mg? Help!!

Piffle · 11/07/2006 20:38

rachee so sorry this is dragging on for you, what a torrid time of it you've had
I hope it goes as straightforward as these things can and you are ok afterwards

Gelfling · 11/07/2006 20:36

Rachee, all the best for Sunday, will be thinking of you. I had the same op for the same reason back in Jan 2004. All the best and hope the next 6 weeks fly by.
xx

Rachee · 11/07/2006 20:24

egg still well and truely in-there... so i am having op ( erpu?) on sunday. D & C in old terms. LOL. but it will put our trying for another baby back by 6 weeks as must have a normal period before trying again, to heal properly. and no clomid.

xXx

trace2 · 11/07/2006 15:01

Rachee , you ok, how did the scan go, thinking of you hun((hugs)))

coggy · 10/07/2006 20:51

Hope you are okay Dizzy. That must have been a bit of a shock for you with your friend's baby.

I have read of plenty of people who fall pg after 6 months of clomid. One girl fell on her 13th cycle. I am only allowed 6 months however and it is my last one next month.

Natty1806 · 10/07/2006 20:17

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low dizzy, what is the next stage after you have finished 6 months on clomid?

dizzy36 · 10/07/2006 20:03

am on day 20 of 4th month of chlomid. getting sore boobs and bloated which is a sure sign that af is going to happen. Apparently chlomid usually works within 3 months of trying so this is a bad sign for me I think. got two months of it left but if its not worked after 4 months then it probably won't work now. Oh woe is me! trying to stay 'up' about it but gets harder every month.

My friend brought her little baby round to visit yesterday and she is gorgeous. My friend doesnt know this (obviously) but she gave her baby the same name as the one I lost in 2004. It was rather strange saying her name but not upsetting.

coggy · 10/07/2006 18:48

Hi Rachee - I've just sent you a dim email or two!!
Your puppy sounds fab.

Oh and I've sent you one too Natty....now I feel REALLY popular!!!!

Natty1806 · 10/07/2006 18:43

thanks rachee, sorry to hear your new

Good news about the puppy though - what you going to get?

Rachee · 10/07/2006 18:32

i didn't get any info before i went either, i think they treat everyone so different so not leaflet would cover it all.... That's why mumsnet is SO valuable ! just ask away and your questions get answered, LOL. ( More quickly and more detail than doc's)

xXx

ps. Coggy, i am doing ok, still haven't m/c the second yet, going in the morning AGAIN for yet another scan, if it's still there ( which i know it is) i will ask for the op) Good news, DH is letting me have a much waited for puppy ! LOL

xXx Thanx

Natty1806 · 07/07/2006 19:58

Thanks Rachee, they have not sent me any info through on what to expect is this normal or should i ring up and ask.

Good job i have you lot to help me.

coggy · 07/07/2006 19:05

How are you doing now Rachee?

Rachee · 07/07/2006 18:29

internal scan is bladder empty, but you are normally told to go bladder full, they scan outside first then you go to loo and empty bladder, then they scan internal.... at least you get results there and then !!

I have now been scanned three thimes with this m/c and have been bleeding heavy all three times.... more embarasing for me i think... the cleaning up for me after is eeeeoooowwww ! ( don't forget to take a pad for after the internal.... they use the jelly up there too ! ( TMI ?) LOL

xXx

Natty1806 · 07/07/2006 07:20

Hi everyone, thanks for your advice, i cannot believe they would do an internal while AF is there, told about no dignity (sp?) ....i wish i was a man just having a w##k in a pot and that's it. And they moan about that. sorry if that outburst offended anyone.

Anyway it looks like it will def be an internal scan then, does this mean the bladder should be empty or full?

Don't think it is fair that you are not allowed to start the adoption process if you are undergoing fertility treatment.

Fingers crossed it will all go well and they will give me clomid straight away - this is what GP thinks i need. I have had all my blood tests done (low progestrone level 1) and Dp has had his test everything fine with him, we have also filled in a long questionnair about everything so they do know everything but should imagine we will have to go over it with them.

Thanks again and hopefully i will be joining you on the clomid in a few weeks.

coggy · 06/07/2006 22:22

Oooooh Dizzy - that sounds horrid!!
I've only ever gone on CD13/14 but everywhere seems so different.

There's NO dignity in ttc is there!!!!!

lewsmummy · 06/07/2006 21:34

Hi there,

Can anyone help me here?

dizzy36 · 06/07/2006 20:46

hi natty, I have one ds (6) and m/c in 2004. I went private and appointments were pretty quick (weeks apart). Can imagine process would be slower on NHS . I was only put on chlomid a few months ago. Was referred to clinic last April and they advised iui in first instance. Its my current consultant that prescribed chlomid...he said that personally he would've done that b4 the iui. just turned 38 and been ttc total of 4 years. am hoping the chlomid works but they don't tell you it changes things about your cycle which you need to know to ttc i.e time of ovulation, length of cycle, pms etc. am on my 4th month. I wish you well for your next appointment, might be an idea to ask them to let you know if there are any cancellations before your next apptment,

coggy - I know what you mean. I went to my first appointment (its on day 2 of af as well natty so be prepared) and had no idea it was an internal. I was horrified that were going to do it while still on my period! used to them now tho...had it done loads of times.

Gelfling · 06/07/2006 20:27

Natty,Good Luck for 31st July.
At my 1st appt my history was taken, I had an internal scan and the options for treatment were discussed.I was prescribed 6 months of Clomid (50mg)there and then. I had already had a dye when I had a laparoscopy last Aug to remove some ovarian cysts and as I've already got a dd (6) I am not eligible for nhs ivf. An appt was made for me to go in on day 12 of my first cycle of Clomid for a scan to check that it was working ( which it was ) and thats it.I also took a sample of dh's sperm to my scan appt which was at 8.45am - problem being that it takes me 2hrs to get to the hospital so dh had to provide a sample at 6.30am (he wasn't very enthusiastic)
Hoping with all my heart that the Clomid works as I've been off the pill since 1994, it took 6yrs to conceive dd, I had a m/c in 2004, and nothing since then. I'll be 40 next week and we desparately want a sister /brother for dd. If the Clomid doesn't do the job then we will apply to adopt. (Can't start adoption process while on any fertility treatment)
Phew.... and breathe. Sorry for that, it all just came pouring out.
xx
