This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

Oh Lunarsea - sorry about your news - is 100mg the largest dose allowed? I'm sure there are alternatives to clomid, like the injectables that Katierocket is on. Hope you get some good news soon.

Jen28, I left you a message on the Acupuncture or Reflexology thread, I'd love to hear more about your treatment.

Bad news all round then. I had a scan yesterday (4th cycle all in, but the first on 100mg) - and there's still absolutely nothing happening. Doesn't look as if there's much point carrying on with the clomid, so just waiting now for them to call me back and see where we go next.

Rachee · 13/12/2005 20:33

I am waiting for my lap too, missing out the ultra sound part... conultant doesn't think it will show up anything, so going straight for op.

Rachee · 13/12/2005 20:31

I have been reading loads up about TTC and in every artical it reccomends accupunture !!

There must be something in it !!

( PS. haven't been able to take my first dose of clomid yet.... waiting for day 2.... now on day 22 .... very unusual for me not come on yet !! Got loads of ov pains though so won't be long

JendleWendleBells · 13/12/2005 13:50

Ooh, Roobedoo - I did acupuncture and it was fab. After the acupuncture treatment (which took about 4 months - initially once a week, then once a fortnight then once a month) we got pg first month trying. After 3 years of ttc + basal body temp charts, OPKs, that saliva thing, blood tests, Clomid, scans, an HSG and a miscarriage - I felt like screaming: why didn't anyone tell me about acupuncture before? I've posted on this (as Jen28) in other areas of MN. I did have to pay for it myself but the cost was the only downside.

Roobedoo · 13/12/2005 13:28

Well, not pg AGAIN. Wasn't even hoping to be - I'm that resigned to the fact that I won't get pg because there must be something else going on. Am actually now looking forward to the laparoscopy, hope I won't have to wait too long for it. I've got one more lot of clomid to take, but have decided to hold onto it until after laparoscopy.

Had acupuncture on Friday which was interesting. Going every week for the first month or so. It was quite enjoyable getting to talk about myself for half an hour!

How's everyone else doing?

Sorry to hear your news Katierocket, what a rollercoaster ride this is turning out to be.

Stay strong, you'll get there soon - at least your body is working (perhaps a little too well now!)

Hugs xx

Roobedoo · 07/12/2005 19:04

So sorry Katierocket, you must be totally fed up. I hope you're not having to pay for this treatment. Best of luck for next month. Just can't believe they are making a fuss about three follicles. You weren't even monitored on clomid and you could have been producing loads of follicles each month.

OP posts:
Jen28 · 07/12/2005 16:01

I didn't have any side effects, even when on a 100mg dose.

BTW, I found follicle monitoring the BEST THING when TTC b/c it took all the guess work out of whether Clomid was working or not and the timing for BD. (Follicle monitoring is a vaginal sonogram of your ovaries). For me it was recommended on my 5th cycle of Clomid. The downside was trecking to the clinic every 2-3 days, but the reassurance from seeing that little egg ripen and pop was amazing. And that was the cycle I conceived on. Definitely worth asking for. Good luck everyone!

katierocket · 07/12/2005 12:31

hi roobeedo - have been laying low. IUI was cancelled due to 3 follicles. I can't even begin to express how annoyed I am at clinic - It's a long dull story and when I'm feeling more robust I will relate it.
Thanks for thinking of me, hope you're OK.

Roobedoo · 07/12/2005 10:44

Welcome Rachee. I was totally convinced I was going to have all the side effects, but actually have had none at all other than a bit of weight gain (which actually really annoys me) and I find ovulation quite painful. Some of the others have had some side effects though.

Katierocket - desperate to know how you got on with the IUI.

ebbie22 · 06/12/2005 17:52

Misley thanks you all for ur messages and will be online to chat and answer questions as soonas she can come over....xxx

Roobedoo · 05/12/2005 21:13

Well Loubie you'll have the perfect opportunity for lots of BD on your honeymoon and unlike me you will probably be quite keen - so enjoy! Hope all the last minute wedding details are stressless.

Loubie37 · 05/12/2005 19:43

Well, Ive been to see our fertility specialist again today....

...and didn't really learn much that I didn't know already. He told me the results of my blood tests (which I already knew from my GP), I asked him about the mid cycle bleeding, but he didn't seem too concerned, and said as long as I know when my periods start, and know when to take the Clomid that it isn't an issue(??)

I explained to him my decision to have 2 months off Clomid which he was happy with, he gave me a prescription for 3 more months and said I would get an appointment to see him again at the end of April/beginning of May. I'm not having anymore blood tests, so no monitoring at all now - he seemed happy that because I ovulated last month, the Clomid is working now.

All in all, I suppose I was happy with the outcome, but I feel very much alone now - it's a case of here's another 3 months of Clomid (meaning I'll have had 7 months in total), go away and get pregnant!!

I tried asking him what the next steps are after Clomid (presuming it doesn't work) but he wouldn't be drawn in to it - his attitude is let's wait and see.

So, that's about it really, I just hope it pays off and I get a BFP early in the New Year

Good luck Roobedoo, sounds promising

Roobedoo · 05/12/2005 16:35

Had a second scan today, the one last week showed my follicles were nowhere near as big as they should have been for day 12, but fortunately this week they are big so had the injection. Not feeling particularly optimistic and looking forward to a month off over Christmas. Having acupuncture on Friday which I'm really looking forward to.

Still very pleased about Milsey though - about time for this gang!

How's everyone else doing?

katierocket · 02/12/2005 16:26

I know bubbly, I think the real reason is because it is more hassle for them and they have to have an embrologist (sp?) present rather than it just being done by a nurse. Not much I can do now (and I am SO frustrated but trying not to let it wind me up too much) but we will definitely look into going somewhere else. It's so crap isn't it.

Congrats to you by the way. Lovely to hear a success story!

bubbly1973 · 02/12/2005 15:35

katie, i dont believe a word they are saying!! i went to CARU university hospital of wales

i had 3 large ones on each side and about 20 little ones, if it wasnt guaranteed to work there is no way they would have done that!!!

they suck the fluid inside the follicle which then deflates that follicle, so there is no way an egg would remain in there.

im annoyed, this is ridiculous, but never mind, go in tomorrow and good luck, after that, id look into going somewhere where they do offer this treatment.

katierocket · 02/12/2005 14:00

OK so have spoken to a consultant. Apparently they don't do it because the procedure itself is not guaranteed to work (i.e. get rid of the follicle with the egg) and therefore the risk of multiple pregnancy remains.
There isn't really much I can do now except go in tomorrow and see. If they do cancel it then I will ring the other clinic near us and ask them if they offer it then the next time we try, we'll give them a go instead. Which clinic did you go to Bubbly?

I'm going to try and find out how many clinics do offer this procedure althought not sure where I'm going to get that information.

katierocket · 02/12/2005 12:42

thanks bubbly (again!)
I agree that I think I need to pester them. You really have to keep on at them don't you. I think the answer will probably be "because we don't" but we will see. Going to give it an hour and then ring back again.

bubbly1973 · 02/12/2005 12:29

katie, make sure your a pain in the arse to them, make them give you an answer your happy with, go on to them and if the consultant still hasnt rung you, ring back, ...sometimes you have to be on there backs in order to get the answers

if they say 'cos we dont offer it' ask them why they dont offer ..this is just not on, i feel very strongly about this, its peoples feelings they are messing with,

the clinic i was with are one of the best, and if they think its good enough to do reductions then i wouldnt let anyone bluff there way through saying theres no point doing follicle reductions etc etc

i really hope they do it, infact i hope you dont have to go through with it because on saturday they will tell you all is well and you have 2 large eggs and can go ahead with iui...fingers crossed
