This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

Congrats on wedding and good luck on everything else

Loubie37 · 16/01/2006 08:03

Hi there

Well, I'm back and I'm now a married woman!! The wedding and honeymoon were both fantastic, now it's just a matter of waiting to see if there's a honeymoon baby on the cards!

I'm on CD28 (AF due tomorrow) and unusually for me I've had no spotting whatsoever - I ALWAYS spot for at least 2 days beforehand!! I've done a test this morning (couldn't resist!) but it was a BFN unfortunately....

Saying that I didn't get a BFP last time until I was 3 days late so there's a slim chance for us fingers crossed

Good luck to everyone else, although there doesn't seem to be much good news going around at the moment

Mrs Loubie xx

hi all
nothing here. IUI cancelled at beg of Dec (as you know), tried naturally since then (because of Christmas we couldn't do IUI again on that cycle) but it's not worked. We're going to Australia in Feb and when we come back we'll try IUI again (possibly at a different clinic). If that doesn't work then will probably go for IVF (oh god how I dread getting into that - the stress and debt etc)

Sorry to hear that no one else is having much good news yet. Lunarsea - that's really depressing isn't it, pretty mcuh same thing happened to me

Roobedoo · 10/01/2006 20:08

Rachee and Lunarsea - what a bugger. Better luck next month.

MKU thanks once again for your helpful info. Have an appointment with the Consultant in Feb so will ask then about next step. Not taking any clomid at the mo, last lot was beginning of December.

Katierocket - what stage are you at now? Must be some IUI coming up surely. Good luck.

LunarSea · 06/01/2006 09:50

Oh well - no go again this month, but at least it's for a differnt reason this time. Had a scan yesterday, and all looking good, except that there are 4 follicles, so have been told not to even try.

MeerkatsUnite · 06/01/2006 09:18

Rachee,

Has it ever been fully determined why intercourse is so painful?. Has the possibility of you having endometriosis (this can cause painful intercourse) been mooted by the cons?.

MeerkatsUnite · 06/01/2006 09:16

Roobedoo,

Just to reassure you on one point - clomid will NOT cause scar tissue to form. This is caused instead by abdominal surgery of any sort.

It is not always adviseable for women with PCOS to take clomid as they can become clomid resistant. The main problem with it is that clomid enocrages LH production - many women with PCOS have an excess of this hormone to start with and therefore clomid is often the last thing needed. It certainly does encourage the ovaries to work harder.

How long have you been on clomid for now?. If its six months plus I would ask them outright about other treatment options.

Rachee · 05/01/2006 20:05

once again..... come on !!! only posted this morning to say i was ovulating !! knew i was. But back to my normal habbits of 2/3 days after ovulating i come on. Huge rejection problems, my body doesn't like the egg so thrusts it out full speed.

So clomid not working for me this month !! gutted.

Roobedoo · 05/01/2006 19:06

Not on clomid this month, but think I ovulated at 3am this morning! I know this because it was absolute agony and had to take painkillers. Very strange and I hope I haven't got to put up with that much pain every month from now on! The acupuncturist did tell me that as clomid overstimulates the ovaries it will cause scar tissue causing painful ovulation. Anyone ever heard this before? Sounds odd to me.

Happy New Year Everyone......

Well first month on clomid and going well..... ovulating at the moment ( painful sex as normal), and jumping on DH as often as possible ( haven't told him, that i am at that stage of the cycle, don't want to put him under pressure or think he is only being used for baby batter!!)

Got a bit tired whilest on and moody in the mornings , but thanks to your warnings i was able to warn him and laugh it off....

Good luck every one. keep me informed.

Roobedoo · 02/01/2006 19:38

Hello everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year.

It's BD week for us, but at least it's not the usual intense marathon as I'm off the clomid this month, so we are a bit more relaxed about it. Going to try and stay away from the OPK too, but don't know if I have that much willpower - pathetic aren't I! I've had four weeks of acupuncture and actually feeling remarkable relaxed. She left me with odd seeds in my ear which apparently is accupressure and works whenever I sleep or put any pressure on my ear. It must be doing some good as just spent the w/e with the inlaws and didn't feel stressed at all which is an absolute miracle.

Decided I'm going to get on with things I'd been delaying because I was supposed to be pregnant, i.e. losing my tummy from DS and starting running again.

Anyway, enough about me, me, me. Looking forward to hearing updates on everyone. Milesy, how are things going - feeling good I hope.

katierocket · 21/12/2005 15:12

hello
just wanted to say, have a great christmas everyone.
I'm on CD1 today which is not unexpected. Even though the IUI was cancelled we still BDed (with 3 follicles) and it still didn't work so god knows what is going oN! Anyway onward and upward. Loubie - have a great wedding and honeymoon.
hears hoping 2006 is kinder to us all.

LunarSea · 20/12/2005 16:50

Looks like we're going to try one more month of the clomid, but with hcg injection as well to actually trigger ovulation and/or lengthen the luteul phase, as I seem to be able to grow the follicles ok, but not to be able to get them to pop!

Good luck all, and here's hoping that we won't still be around this time next year.

Roobedoo · 20/12/2005 11:36

Rachee, glad to hear you're not suffering. Don't think the clomid had much effect on my AF really, other than regulating me.

Loubie - have a wonderful wedding and lets hope there are 3 of you coming back from Egypt.

AF due this week, but not taking any more clomid so the pressure to BD is off. Guess fertile time will be around New Year so here's to a lucky 2006 to all of us.

OP posts:
Loubie37 · 20/12/2005 09:00

As I thought it would be AF is here today, so I'm back on CD1 That means I've been TTC for the whole of 2005, as well as for 7 months of 2004. Let's hope I'm not sat here at the end of 2006 saying the same

On the good side, FF has predicted that my fertile patch next month will be 1/1 - 4/1/2006.....which just happens to be the first 4 days of our honeymoon so no doubt there'll be plenty of jiggy jiggy I'd best make sure I slap plenty of suncream on so there's no burnt bits to hinder things

Good luck to everyone else still in with a chance of a Christmas/New Year BFP, and to those who aren't so lucky, I'll be joining you in 2006

Loubie xx

Rachee · 19/12/2005 22:19

Don't let yourself be consummed by TTC.... I went to hypnosis, and there she taught me ' Emotional Freedom Technique'. It's excellent, by tapping on different accupuncture points and talking to yourself (mmmm) it neutralises negative feelings. EFT ... look it up on the net.... It's really helped me, i can talk about TTC without getting emotional. and i have been TTC for 15 months !! It's also helped to keep my weight under control, that was the reason i went in the first place.

Rachee · 19/12/2005 22:13

Now on day 2 of taking clomid...... Not got bad tempered yet... but watching for that. Thanks for the warnings. Does it lighten your periods.... normally by this time i am swimming in it all, but now on day two , calming down already.....

Could this be clomid, my magnetic braclet, or just one of those things?

JendleWendleBells · 15/12/2005 23:47

Just posted re my acupuncture on the Acupuncture and Reflexology thread.

katierocket · 15/12/2005 17:14

hi jane, yes that's it isn;t it, you spend so much time focusing on the 'means' you kind of forget/lose sight of the 'end' even though paradoxically that is all you think about!

jane313 · 15/12/2005 16:07

I have been lurking on this thead whilst waiting for a hopsital appointment. (My GP thinks I'll be prescribed clomid) I know what you mean about the all consuming nature. I got a date for an appointment today and I suddenly thought I may have a baby. It just seemed so odd as all I have been thinking about is days in cycle and hormone levels and when to bd. It doesn't seem anything to do with babies.

katierocket · 15/12/2005 12:40

yes, roobee, it's hard to put your finger on it but when you first start TTC you are just assuming perhaps that you will get pregnant and that is what you expect. The longer it goes on the more the actual trying becomes the whole thing.

Roobedoo · 15/12/2005 12:27

I know what you mean Katierocket. I saw a friend the other day who simply said "How are you?" and my immediate response was "Not pregnant". I immediately felt really stupid - surely there is more to me than whether or not I am pregnant. It does become all consuming.

OP posts:
katierocket · 14/12/2005 19:56

By the way, i was thinking the other day that it feels as though I've been trying for so long (20 months) that I've almost lost sight of what I'm trying for and my 'life' is just TTC - does that make any sense? I literally cannot imagine being pregnant or having a little baby in the house - it's very weird.

katierocket · 14/12/2005 19:54

hello all
sorry I've been laying low as had hit (another!) low point. Well IUI was cancelled due to 3 follicles, really annoying as if i was at any other clinci they probably would have gone ahead. Anyway, it's all to long and boring to relate here. I have been very fed up with it all but feeling bit better now. We're not able to try IUI again until March because clinic closed over Christmas, then my next AF is due just before we go to Aus for 2 and half weeks (hurray, somethign else to think about other than bloody pregnancy!).

Roobeedo - sorry to hear your news, I really hope acupuncture helps, I've heard great things about it. I had it for 10 months and I think it did help (although obviously not too well...)It's very relaxing in any case.

Lunar - more bad news for you, so sorry to hear that. the injectables I was on for IUI are FSH. Apparently Clomid tries to fool your body into producing more FSH whereas this is the actual stuff so maybe it would work better? My consultant said it is a stronger drug. (although I had no side effects on it - unlike Clomid)
GOd I really hope we get pregnant soon. Surely we must..
