This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

Congratulations skbf, Ive a 7month ds after spending 18months on clomid, and after a miscarriage so it can work even with PCO.

Fingers crossed for saturday! :)

Loubie37 · 21/03/2006 20:08

Fab news SKBY, so pleased for you and fingers crossed that the news will stay good :)

And good luck to you Jen - sounds promising!

Jen1209 · 21/03/2006 20:05

Woo hoo - COngrats SKBF - that's fab news! Fingers tightly crossed for a happy and healthy 9 months for you!

Update from me - having read up a lot on Clomid on the web (thanks Google!) and on here that Clomid lengthens your cycle, I am now on CD36 of a pre Clomid, regular-as-clockwork 29 day cycle. I have discussed it with DP and we are not going to test until Tuesday early am as I have a fertility consultant appointment at 9.00 am and I will need to tell her what's going on.

So, trying really hard not to get hopes up, don't feel pg (what little I know of the symptoms) but don't feel like af is about to show either. Far too scared to test yet as still scared of a BFN. Ignorance is bliss at the mo - m/c still v fresh in mind

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Congrats again SKBF

Loubie - sorry to hear you didn't quite get the answers you were looking for but at least you got some answers. It's must be such a hard decision... hope you are ok.

Jodee · 21/03/2006 20:03

SKBF that's great news! Sending loads of positive vibes for the weekend test to be OK too. Smile

ShouldKnowByFriday · 21/03/2006 19:11

Need to get kiddies out of bath and will read Loubies post later.

Still shaking.

I will I will I will have another baby. And I hope so will all of you!!

ShouldKnowByFriday · 21/03/2006 19:08

Kiddies in the bath when nurse rang so called my mother's help to take over so I could update you all as you have been sooooo supportive and kind and I owe it to you to tell you quick!!

Went for blood test with my enormous breasts which really convinces me that I am preg and they promised to call at 6.30pm. Well they did and said that my levels are going up and are now 182.8 which they are happy with - whooooopeeeee - but they want to continue monitoring them so am going back on saturday at 11.45am and will hopefully have the results the same day. If lab is closed, I didn't ask btw, then will have results on Monday. She still had concern in her voice which means basically I am not out of the woods but even if my hcg test results were good last week I would still be open minded about the whole thing until I get my cvs done at 11-12 weeks. Will also have a scan next week

So alot of fuss about nothing!!! Had I not had blood test then wouldn't have had the dismal news. My main concern since the weekend when I didn't bleed was that I wanted to miscarry naturally rather than have a gen aneasthetic and a d & c. I was really prepared for the worst and was just looking ahead to the next clomid cycle and working out when DP will be skiing, etc. Also, I must say that I have never had a pos result from a preg test before day 35 even with early morning urine so my past experience is low hcg levels in the beginning but try telling a doctor that!!!!

As I type this I am shaking.

Good luck to all of you this month. Will read rest of thread later when I have a moment.

Thank you all again.

Jen1209 · 21/03/2006 18:42

And me - SKBF, hope things ok, let us know how you got on...

Jodee · 21/03/2006 18:03

loubie, just checking here as well, thinking the same xxx

Loubie37 · 21/03/2006 18:02

SKBF....any news yet hun? Thinking of you x

Loubie37 · 21/03/2006 18:02

In case you don't remember I arranged for an extra appointment with my specialist to try and arrange follicle tracking for my last 2 clomid cycles. That appointment was today, and I think I'm pleased with the way it went, although I didn't get the answers I necessarily wanted!

Basically it's like this. My hospital doesn't have an 'Assisted Reproduction Unit' so the most they can do locally is prescribe Clomid and do CD21 blood tests to monitor. They don't do follicle tracking locally because they simply don't have the resources. The next step after Clomid would be a referral to an APU (the nearest one for us I think is Sheffield which is an hours drive away. The problem we have is that any referral to an APU (in our health authority, this may not be the case in other areas) they look at whether you meet the criteria for NHS funding. I don't because I already have kids (even though Matt has none of his own). So I don't qualify for anything else on the NHS, not even follicle tracking/IUI.

I do have some options - I can remain on Clomid but there are concerns that long term use can lead to ovarian cancer. I can also consider 'egg sharing' which basically means I would go for IVF at a reduced cost if I agree to my eggs being used as donor eggs for someone else, or I can go privately full stop.

So I've got lots to think about....

What he has agreed to do is let me have Day 21 blood tests done for these last 2 months, so at least I'll know if the Clomid is working. If it isn't, then I think it will be easier drawing a line under everything. If it is working though, I've got a really difficult decision ahead of me. So I'm not going to think about it too much unless I have to I don't think. The only thing I do know is that if the next 2 blood tests show it's working, I'm going to have at least a month off and ask for another blood test. If this shows I'm ovulating without clomid then it will be easier to come off it IYKWIM.

One thing this has highlighted though is that I don't think I'm ready just yet to go down the adoption route...it seemed like months away when we first broached it in January, but the reality is now that it's only 6-7 weeks until my last Clomid cycle ends I'm not sure whether I'll be ready emotionally to give up the dream of having our own baby (Bearing in mind we've been told if we're serious about adopting we'll have to give an undertaking that we're not actively trying for a baby anymore)

Decisions decisions.....

I know what I'm doing tonight - enjoying a glass (or two) of wine to take my mind off it!!

Loubie xx

You get the temp dip BEFORE you ovulate, the day before. If it shoots up tomorrow, check your strip! Good luck.

naditude · 21/03/2006 12:20

Hi all (and espec. SKBF)! Sending out good luck vibes...

Changing the subject slightly, (not wanting to detract from the important issue surrounding us) but as you know started charting my temp and reading 'taking charge of your fertility'. My temps have been all in the same area (97.3-4_ but yesterday and this morning dipped so low they weren't on the chart! (96.4)

Anyone had this happen to them? Any possible reasons why?

In the book it says that a possible sudden dip is a sign your estrogen levels are 'doing something' (can't remember what) and you're ovulating. But I have been using LH strips since day 11 and no pos yet, (They have been accurate so far) so don't think I'm ovulating today. Am on day 16 today. And am sure I can feel 'activity' in my left ovary but this could be all in my head as I am expecting the clomid to do big things!

To top things off - my Teaching assistant (I'm a teacher( has told me this morning she is preg!! Envy And she hasn't even been trying! Angry

Grrrr.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll all be on tonight waiting for positive news!! Smile

bubbly1973 · 21/03/2006 08:46

good luck skbf, i know today will be a very long day for you so i hope you can keep your mind occupied as much as you can
xx

Jen1209 · 21/03/2006 08:40

Hi - good luck for today SKBF - thinking of you.

bubbly1973 · 20/03/2006 22:21

skbf, its a bit complicated so bear with me...

i did iui, and was to go in for bloods on wednesday, i bled a tiny bit on tuesday, rang clinic and said no point coming in as af is here...

but they like you to go in anyway, so on wednesday i went in, id stopped bleeding by tuesday night, it was just spotting before that.

wednesday they rang to say i was pg, i bled a bit more hour before i had the result, so they told me to rest.

i bedrested and didnt bleed for a day and half...which leads us to friday, where i bled quite a bit, but in all this time my levels were rising, but very very slowly
so still thinking/hoping im pg

by the monday my levels were slowly going down, id stop bleeding, i didnt get any cramps, it was just like a period, not even heavy.

by the end of the week, they had gone to nil, thats when i realised id miscarried, in hindsight i should have let the pg go when i bled and they told me levels were dropping, but i was in denial

tuesday is round the corner, it wont be long now hun..fingers crossed
x

ShouldKnowByFriday · 20/03/2006 20:45

Thank you both. Will post when kiddies in bed after my phone call. I am both optimistic and prepared for the worst. Can't understand why I haven't started bleeding naturally after all the cramps? Do you mind bubbly if I ask you what day you were when you miscarried when you had a low hcg result? Thanks

Jodee · 20/03/2006 20:44

Hoping it's good news for you tomorrow, SKBF.

relax · 20/03/2006 20:41

best of luck SKBF will be thinking of you for tomorrow

bubbly1973 · 20/03/2006 19:36

skbf, good luck and i will be keeping my fingers crossed for you tomorrow

when you can/if you can, please let me know,
thinking of you
x
ps i think your doing the right thing by going in for bloods, at least you will know one way or another.

ShouldKnowByFriday · 20/03/2006 16:37

Have decided to go for blood test tomorrow as the left hand line is still there and I need to know either way. So appt at 1.15, result at 6.30/7.30 so will kmow then. I am five weeks today and the earliest scan they can do is 6wks so the blood test is the only option at this stage.
Thanks for thinking of me.

bubbly1973 · 20/03/2006 14:46

skbf, any news from the nurse?

we do tend to look and marvel at how delicate it really is to make a baby when things can go so wrong...hope you get bloods done to confirm level is going down, or rising...at least in that way you will know where you stand

ShouldKnowByFriday · 20/03/2006 11:24

Good morning bubbly. Woke up at 6am wondering what I had to do that was important today and suddenly realised that it was to test as day 35. I did the early response test and there is definitely a line but it is feinter than before and should be strong by now espcially with first urine of the day. So rang clinic to say prob no point in having hcg test but did they recommend a scan, etc on such and such a day. Waiting for a nurser to call me back. Anyway, still no bleeding and I would rather miscarry than have a d & c. Feeling okay but disappointed about the whole thing but looking at my children in wonderment that they survived the whole conception and pregnancy journey!

bubbly1973 · 19/03/2006 22:19

sorry my last message is a bit confusing..

i never had cramping on my first pg 4 years ago...on this pg i did have cramping on day of af,but af never came obviously

hth

bubbly1973 · 19/03/2006 22:18

skbf, there is nothing worse than not knowing..at least when you know you can deal with the situation, but this is just emotions hanging in the air until tuesday, i feel for you hun

i never had no cramping when i was micarrying, when i was pg the only day i had cramping was the day af was due, i may have had slight cramping later in the week too although not 100percent certain on that one.

i truly hope the best news on tuesday, will you know on tuesday or will you have to wait for results till wednesday?

ShouldKnowByFriday · 19/03/2006 21:52

Also had 2 c-sections so can that mean more painful subsequent pregs?! Getting desperate here to know what is happening!
