This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

Hi All

I posted a while back on this thread as I have been on clomid since last December. I just wanted to let you all know IT DOES WORK! I got my BFP yesterday (and have done another 4 tests since then and all BFPs! Grin) so just hang in there!

Clomid was to treat PCOS - diagnosed last year as I didn't have any AF at all for a year after coming off the pill.

I honestly never thought it would happen and obvously it is early days but I just wanted to spread a little baby to dust to you all and say don't fret - it was when I least expected it that it happened.

I'm thinking of you all.

Daisy x

first full day of af, so will be starting clomid in the morningm wayhay

coggy · 27/04/2006 15:24

Sad sorry to hear that Jodee...

Jodee · 27/04/2006 14:56

Sod it sod it sod it! sorry, just need to vent a bit, I should have known as soon as posted on here af would arrive. Why is my body playing horrid tricks on me.

coggy · 27/04/2006 08:58

It just all seems a bit random though..they didn't know I had LPD two years ago.

It seems they just gave it to 'do something' while waiting for IUI.

Not going to complain tho cos it seemed to do the trick! Here's hoping that we'll be as lucky on it this month hey?

trace2 · 27/04/2006 08:49

well ive been given it because the 21 bllod tests say am not ovulating, but i have read they give for short luteal phases too, which sounds like you have

coggy · 27/04/2006 08:37

Also...just to make my answer EVEN longer and more confused...
since reading this thread, it seems that clomid is given for ov. problems but I don't have any!

OPK kits and bloods show that I ov. I just don't have enough time for implantation (my diagnosis...no-one else has even bothered checking stuff like that!!)
I only have 7 or 8 days b't'n ov. and AF.

I fell pg after taking clomid before so maybe it did something to lengthen out the second half of my cycle but, if so, it was an accidentla discovery and certainly hasn't been questioned by consultants or even recognised by one of them!

This ttc-lark is frustrating isn't it?!

coggy · 27/04/2006 08:32

sorry Trace - had to go last night as the slowness was driving me mad...could it be because this is a long thread maybe?

I was having clomid this time two years ago because the fertility clinic told me to have it for 6 months while I was on the waiting list for IUI. No explained reason for not conceiving so I thought that was just standard procedure...assumed it was everywhere but after being on MN I have decided that things are done differently all over the country!

I had 50mg of clomid CD2 - 5 and then an injection around ov time (HCg I think) and then some other tablets afterwards as well!!
Possibly progestorone?

I sound rather vague because when it all happened the first time I was ignorant of all these things and just accepted what I was given and this time I haven't actually seen anyone to discuss it with which is rubbish!!

So I am having my clomid as before (which I am pleased about), my injection is being done by my local gp's clinic (which is random-ish without a scan!) and the other tablets have not even been mentioned!!!

No-one has given us a reason for sub-fertility but I suggested LPD and hastled my doctor and lo-and-behold the clomid appeared!!

Sorry...just realised what a MASSIVELY long answer this is!! :)

trace2 · 26/04/2006 21:19

wonder why they not doing that with me, why did they give you clomid/???

coggy · 26/04/2006 21:16

Or the follicles..or whatever they are!

This computer is sooooooooooo slow..it's taken me all this time to add that second bit Angry!!

Last time I had an internal (yuck) scan each month to check if the follicles were big enough to release and then the injection to release them (or the egg).

coggy · 26/04/2006 21:10

To release the eggs.

trace2 · 26/04/2006 21:07

no just a blood test on day 21, whats the jab for?

coggy · 26/04/2006 21:06

My computer is like running through toffee tonight so I may have to go in a minute (getting cross!!)
Anyway...thanks Trace. Are you also having an injection to release the eggs?
I've been told to have that day 13 - 15.

Last time I was on clomid they scanned me to see when to have the injection..this time they've told me to just go to my local gps to be jabbed!
Sounds a bit random to me!

trace2 · 26/04/2006 20:49

hi coggy ive been told day 2 to 6, and i read somewhere, the ealy the better, as some docs do it later in the month

coggy · 26/04/2006 20:48

...and...thanks Jodee :)

coggy · 26/04/2006 20:44

Reading through..most people seem to be taking clomid CDs2 - 6. I've been told 2-5 but I guess different consultants have different ideas?!

Was going to take my first tablet tonight as AF arrived yesterday but only a little bit (CD26), today has been pretty light too.
I was rather hoping that as this is my first cycle back on clomid that it would be very obvious when to start...never is when you want it to be is it?!

trace2 · 26/04/2006 19:45

do i take in the morning or evening?? take first lot when af comes

Jodee · 26/04/2006 19:43

... and welcome to Coggy, loads of luck to you. Smile

Jodee · 26/04/2006 19:42

Good luck with the acupuncture, Naditude, I've heard lots of +ve things about it.

BeckiF, that was great news about your smiley face!!

I'm now on CD27, and no sign of af yet (I usually have a 26/27 day cycle). Had headaches yesterday, which are usually a sign of impending af, but for quite a few days now I have had a horrible taste in my mouth, don't know if I would call it metallic, more a sour sort of taste, tea doesn't taste the same and lots of saliva in my mouth as well. I really must stop myself searching the net for "early pregnancy signs", but can't help myself!

coggy · 26/04/2006 10:35

I am officially joining you all today. :)
I am on CD2 and going to take my first clomid tonight - I guess the time doesn't really make much difference does it?

I've had very regular 27/28 day cycles for the past seven months until the last two - 30something and then this one 25!!!
Why does that always happen when you think you have it sussed?!!

Oh well....glad I am joining you all at last.

Rachee · 25/04/2006 19:34

I started accupuncture in January... Go for it, it is supposed to be the best thing to help conceive....

I have my very first ever scan next Thursday (4th). Fourth cycle of clomid now... 100mgs ! 18 day cycle continues.... apart from last one that went 28 days... but when i came on, i didn't stop so doc had to give me northistorone to stop the bleed !! Oh i love this game...

In the mean time, i am hot flush, bad tempered Rachee. Blackmailed my DH , if we not expecting by Christmas .... then he has to buy me my toy poodle that i want !! (win, win for me.. although a baby is first passion)

Take care all, and keep trying xXx

ShouldKnowByFriday · 25/04/2006 10:48

Naditude, I shall be doing this as well as I read it increases blood flow to ovaries!

Natty1806 · 25/04/2006 10:26

Hi Naditude

Let me know how it goes, i booked myself in for next Sat but have since cancelled it as i got a bit nervous.

naditude · 25/04/2006 08:17

Hi all - I decided to take some advice on here and go for accupuncture! I have my first session tonight! Can't wait! SmileWill let you all know how it goes.

Naditude
CD18 - (2nd Cycle clomid)

BeckiF · 23/04/2006 15:35

Naditde - we decided for the digital ones as the ones with lines seem so hard to decipher. For instance I did one of those with the same urine thi moring and looking at the line both DP and I agreed we'd be none the wiser! LOL! SO the Digi ones have been worth it although this is the 3erd pack we've used so that's £60 on ov tests ... worth every single penny and more if they work though. With the digi it's either yes or no, and i like that certainty!
