BFP at weekend, but still only getting faint line 4 days later

I suppose I'm looking for some reassurance. I POAS Sat and Sun with FMU and got a faint BFP both times, with Sunday's result appearing more quickly than Saturday's. I POAS again today expecting to see a darker line, appearing more quickly and got pretty much the same result as on Sunday (faint line, took 2 min to appear). I estimate that I'm 4.5 to 5 weeks pregnant based on when I think I ovulated.

Just been to dr today and had blood taken to measure HCG concentration, but wondered if anyone had any advice while I await the results?

I am a bit worried because I've had 2 MMC (one quite recently, but the dr did not think it was likely that the HCG detected by my HPT would be from that because I had an ERPC 7 wk ago). My first MMC was in 2008 and I've also got a healthy DD, aged 20 months.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Ooooh, Catface makes a good point - there's plenty of POAS time between now and Friday! Smile

GenericDietCola · 25/05/2011 14:33

Thank you Catface I am thinking about doing a digital test. I should get the blood results on Friday, but I suppose I could do a digi in the meantime to (hopefully) reassure me.

Good luck x

Hey GenericDietCola, why don't you try a digital test? I don't think enough hormones would be left over from 7 weeks ago, to produce any kind of line.

Gardenpixie · 25/05/2011 12:56

Oh that's great that your Dr is so supportive. Am sending towering HCG thoughts your way x

GenericDietCola · 25/05/2011 12:46

Should get results on Friday and I can keep you posted. Dr has also booked me in for repeat blood test next Wed to make sure HCG levels are increasing. She is very kind and has also agreed to an 8 wk scan (assuming levels are increasing!).

Thanks!

When do you get the results back? Will keep everything crossed for big numbers for you Smile

GenericDietCola · 25/05/2011 11:50

Oh thank you pixie - I assumed they were quantitative as I'd seen some pictures on t'internet of the 'progression' of a faint line to a stronger line. On the box, it does show a faint line as a positive result. Hopefully my blood results will be sky high!

Congratulations on your BFP!

My (albeit limited) understanding of HPTs is that they are a qualitative, not quantitative test (apart from the CB digis) so they tell you if you they have detected HCG, but do not accurately how much, especially early on in a pregnancy.

You've done the right thing by getting bloods done though as they are quantitative and much more reliable than HPTs.

I hope you get your good news back from the Drs soon
