Hi Peeps,

Hope everybody is well! I have been bleeding heavily and passing very small clots today so am really really hoping, 4 weeks after I started miscarrying, that this is it. The hospital called last night and said my HCG level was 32 so i'm nearly there!. I will be so glad when it's over though as the constant spotting/bleeding for a month has been a daily reminder of the loss :(

We are away on hols (SW Scotland) on Saturday so it will be a nice break. We are going with friends who also had a miscarriage very recently, so will be having lots of wine and tears no doubt. Sadly the colleague that I had bumped into in the EPU yesterday had also had a miscarriage (I work with the hubby) so it's really coming to the fore how common an occurence this is. Hopefully none of us here, or my friends in RL, will have to go through it again!

shellshock - I would also really recommend TCOFYF and the fertility friend website. I had no idea about the temperature thing and find it really interesting.

blue - glad to hear your boss isn't giving you any hassle about taking a week off. I do wonder if i'd taken time off if I would have recovered quicker rather than not taking any time off at all (I really, really didn't want work to know).

manda - I know exactly what you mean about overdue women. A friend of mine was constantly moaning about how fed up and fat she was and she just wanted the f thing to come out. I said 'i'm sure your baby can hear and sense everything that's going on so just calm down and remember how lucky you are'. I was most annoyed!!

Hope everybody else is well, for some reason I can only see one page on my PC so sorry for the missing name checks! Off to cook tea to enjoy with the Apprentice! I've taken tomorrow off work to get a totally new hair-do, going short and the thought has cheered me up a bit :)

Any word from googie ?

x

shellshock7 · 08/06/2011 19:36

Thanks ciwi, that's how I feel so that is good advice to split the month up and do diff exercises each half, thanks : - )

MandaHugNKiss - thanks for that, if the book is too heavy going (its like a textbook!) I will check that website out. And I know how you feel abt it hitting you all of a sudden, and having thoughts that are really not part of your normal personality at all...feeling very uncharitable at the moment!

MandaHugNKiss · 08/06/2011 18:42

shell if you're interested in 'taking charge' of your cycle and find the internet daunting, might you give fertilityfriend a try? It's online, yes, but has simple online tutorials that walk you through the steps of charting. I found it to be so empowering/enlightening when I started!

I've heard good things about TCOYF so I hope you get on with the book (although I've not read it myself)

Well, I've had a wobbly day; I know it's still 'early days' for me, too, but sometimes, it just seems to come from nowhere. I was laying with DS2 to put him down for his nap and as I looked at his sleeping face I was overwhelmed by my love for him. That wonderful happy feeling then jumped to an intense feeling of NOT wanting to ttc because I want my little boy that has gone, not a different baby. I kinda let the feeling sweep over me as even as I felt it, a small rational voice was telling me that I DO want another child, for all the same reasons that I wanted one when we tried to get pregnant with DS3 but it was still quite horrible.

Then I read a thread about overdue women being fed up (as they rightly do get!) and all I could think was 'be grateful you're term and hope labour goes well'. I don't even mean it, if you know what I mean? I just get these thoughts which I guess are similar to the ones you guys are getting when people voice gripes over minor things. Ugh.

Anyway, feeling a bit better this evening, I think.

BlueCrane · 08/06/2011 17:09

Afternoon all!

pie I thought the opk rationing idea was genius and may be tempted to give it a whirl when we can get back to TTC!

ciwi and sunshine so Sad to hear about your experiences of MC.

dizzy glad you got a BFN - sounds strange to be saying that but am sure I'll be looking out for one in the next couple of weeks too! ses hope yours comes soon too!

Well, I had to go back to the hospital this afternoon as they wrote the wrong date of birth on my bloods yesterday so the lab wouldn't take them! So I'm now doing a good impression of a bruised pin-cushion!! On the plus side my docs were really good and have sorted out a sick note covering the whole period from the first scan through to Monday next week and my boss rang and said just to call him on Monday and see how I'm doing which is a relief as it takes the pressure off a bit.

ciwi · 08/06/2011 16:59

I think exercise is probably fine too but i know i felt weird about doing anything too strenuous in the 2ww. maybe go for it in the 1st 2 weeks and be a bit more gentle in the 2nd 2 like long walks and stuff. Thats what I am planning but I am going on a cruise on sat so cant really be bothered before then as i will probably just undo all the hard work on holiday! Diet definately starts after that!

shellshock7 · 08/06/2011 16:17

Thanks ciwi...can I ask your advice on exercise also?

There is so much advice out there, much of it conflicting I don't know what to believe sometimes!
Just bought this book:

www.amazon.co.uk/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Reproductive/dp/0091887585/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1307546169&sr=1-1

to try and get a heads up on what is going in my cycle, its overwhelming using the internet!

ciwi · 08/06/2011 15:19

shell as long as you don't follow some mental starve yourself diet i dont see how it can cause any problems. Do something like weightwatchers that encourages you to eat everything in moderation and lots of fruit and veg.

shellshock7 · 08/06/2011 14:05

Piemistress - good idea re rationing the CB tests : - )

Re weight gain...I've put a stone on this year with it all and desperately need to lose some weight, can't keep banking on being pregnant next month so it won't matter! I worry about dieting and exercising when TTC though which makes me put it off all the time? Is there any real reason for concern?!

DizzyKipper · 08/06/2011 11:16

Know what you mean about people moaning about stupid things ciwi. It really bugs me. When I was on fb I frequently saw people complaining about a load of non-issues (like bath water being too hot or cold, curtains being difficult to put up, having to ride on public transport - shock horror!). If only those things had been my biggest concerns pffft

ciwi · 08/06/2011 09:30

Hi everyone
sunshine sorry that you have to go through this again. I had a stillborn baby boy (24 weeks) followed by a mc, been told they are both unrelated and just cr*p luck. It's so hard to keep your chin up but in a way you have to and it will all be worth it in the end xxx
Dizzy glad you got your bfn, hope its the last one!
blue i know what you mean about needing to be sure, i did that too before opting for the medical mamagement. hope things go as well as they can do tommorrow xxx

As for me I am aching all over from netball and we lost anyway! I don't really care as I just play for a laugh but some of the team were dissapointed. felt like putting things into perspective for them but didn't. need to watch myself lately as I really can't tolerate people moaning about stupid things - lol

DizzyKipper · 08/06/2011 09:22

I meant that I really really want a baby NOW, don't think I can wait to start ttc again - don't think I'll heed the doctors advice and wait for a cycle (although I guess maybe I should), I should be pregnant now.

DizzyKipper · 08/06/2011 09:14

Yeah got a BFN, not even a hint of a line. I guess that's a good thing. We can wait 'til bleeding stops and then start trying again - have realised that I really REALLY want a baby, just feel so bad/sad every time I see one on TV or out and about.

Hi sunshinelda, you're right it does suck. I've only had 1 MC so far, am really hoping it won't be a recurrent issue. I'm sorry that you've had to go through it twice now, it doesn't seem fair does it?

hotcrossSES · 08/06/2011 08:20

sunshinela - it really does suck doesn't it :( Sorry to hear you've mc again.
I've just had my 3rd mc although I did manage to have DS (now 2yo) between mc2 and mc3.

Blue - sorry you need an ERPC but at least you do have a clear plan of action now. Hope all goes well tomorrow.

ciwi - netball sounds great! Hope you enjoyed it.

Manda - I also need to lose weight and feel fat frumpy and like I look pg which is very depressing! I'm trying to be a bit more healthy and did manage a jacket potato for lunch with soup for tea yesterday.

Pie - sorry everything is so drawn out for you. Hope everything clears soon for you.

Dizzy - did you test this morning? I did and got a BFP :( I suppose it is only 5 days since ERPC so probably to be expected. My temperature is still at post-ov/pg levels too. Really hope it all clears soon. DH was asking when we could ttc again the other evening Hmm

sunshinela · 08/06/2011 02:05

Just found out I mc'd again.
2nd mc in 5 months.
this sucks.
ANOTHER D&C procedure? I can't believe it. Anyone else on here who is onto their 2nd mc?
xxx

DizzyKipper · 07/06/2011 23:22

Hi Blue, if nothing else at least you got some answers from the scan and can start thinking about moving forward - easier said than done I guess. I hope the ERPC will go well for you on Thursday.

Think I may do a test tomorrow, it will have been a week since the MC and also since the blood test saying that my hormone levels were practically at negative. I have a feeling though it's going to show a faint line, don't know what I'll feel if it does.

BlueCrane · 07/06/2011 20:06

PS bats how are you doing? are you feeling any less exhausted?

BlueCrane · 07/06/2011 20:00

Thanks manda enjoy the virtual cake Smile

DH and I are SO tired, think today has literally wiped us out and poor DH has to go to work tomorrow as well, though he will be off thurs-sun which will be good. I also need to lose some weight now that I don't have any excuse for having put it on! I put weight on when I came off the pill - was expecting to lose weight Hmm so am a good half a stone up on where I'd like to be so once all this is sorted I can stop eating shed loads of cake get back to healthy eating and doing some exercise whilst we get ready to TTC again...we bought a Wii fit board that I have yet to try out so will see how that goes!

MandaHugNKiss · 07/06/2011 19:06

Oh blue so sorry. I know what you mean about 'just needing to know'... but I so wish that things could be different for you (for us all). Here's hoping Thursday will go as well as these things can.

Mmm... lemon drizzle cake? I shouldn't. I am still nearly 4kg over my pre-pregnancy weight from DS2 (and getting pregnant with DS3 meant I had something to blame it on/could procrastinate further about doing something about it!). Oh, what the hell I'm still well within my 'healthy bmi range so... Grin Thanks!

BlueCrane · 07/06/2011 17:37

Well, after all the stressing and extreme discomfort of desperately needing to pee whilst waiting to go in (they moaned at me last time for empty bladder so thought it should be toppe dup this time) I was then told to go pee as they were doing an internal!! However, all the focus on drinking and trying not to pee had taken my mind off things a bit which was good. They could still see the sac but nothing inside it and the sac was actually a bit smaller than 10 days ago so they thought it might be collapsing. We have opted to go for ERPC which I am booked in for on Thursday. We were hoping for conclusive type evidence from the scan today which is what we got so whilst I'm really not looking forward to Thursday at least we can start to move forward now.

pie so sorry it's all taking so long for you - hope you get a bfn soon!

ciwi enjoy the netball and hope thyroid results good on friday!

PieMistress · 07/06/2011 15:37

thanks ciwi, I get these ones (can order in various quantities):

www.amazon.co.uk/Ultra-Early-Ovulation-Fertility-Available/dp/B00309QT5S/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1307457346&sr=8-4

then use these:
www.amazon.co.uk/Clearblue-Digital-Ovulation-Testing-Kit/dp/B000KU710W/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1307457346&sr=8-5

means that you only use the expensive ones maybe twice a month whereas I use the cheapie ones twice a day so I don't miss my surge (first thing, then again late afternoon) x

ciwi · 07/06/2011 14:52

Hi pie sorry you are having all this extra hassle. They said that to me a few days after having the tablet and i just stopped bleeding on my own and then pg test went negative. hope it happens soon for you. good idea about using the ic's and the cb digi's. might try that next month!
Been for thyroid bloods today and get the results on friday, really hope they are ok because i really want to start trying again!
Off to play netball tonight so might not be back on again today.

PieMistress · 07/06/2011 12:27

Hi all,

How was your scan today blue? I've not been on the thread for a short while but lots of posts to catch up on! Don't worry about a full bladder, they will also usually do an internal to double check what's going on as can see better I believe.

I had both a tummy u/s and dildocam today - 4 weeks after i'd passed the 'sac' and there is still a piece of tissue about 1cm in size left which explains why i've still got a + and am still bleeding. As it's so small they won't do a D&C because it's likely they could miss it. I had a CS with DS so I don't really want any more interfereing in my uterus as already have scar tissue there. They are keen to follow conservative management, which I also am, unless it takes ages to pass or be reasborbed.

Anyway, i've been given a course of antibiotics which they said should help and will also prevent any infection settling in and have to go back in 2 weeks time (as am on holiday next week!). I can't believe what a long, drawn out physical trauma such an early miscarriage has been (bubs was 6 weeks). I also bumped into a colleague at the EPU - what are the odd of that! I hope they get good news.

Sorry I haven't name checked everybody. I've feeling very jaded and tired from all the tears :( I hope you are all well though xx

I know somebody was asking about OPKs? I get mine very cheaply from amazon then when I get the 2 lines double check it with a clearblue digitial OPK as back up. x

MissTinaTeaspoon · 07/06/2011 12:16

loup we're over here, you are welcome to come and chat too.

hotcrossSES · 07/06/2011 11:34

Thinking of you Blue

ciwi · 07/06/2011 11:34

Good luck blue dont worry too much about the full bladder thing. I thought i was having an internal one so i emptied my bladder and they still saw what they wanted to see.
