Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Just lurking and saw news from Dachs Huge, huge hugs for you. I hope your Dh is with you. I feel physically sick with worry for you. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Like Izzy said, I hope the doc was just preparing you for the worst case scenario and it really doesn't come to that. I think everyone is right in insisting on a second and even a third opinion. Have you spoken to the clinic? I was there this morning and wonder if you might have been too?

MummyAbroad · 16/05/2011 13:36

Thanks for updating us Dach's DH please send her all our love, and I hope you too are finding the strength you need to get through this.

DoubleDiffedDachs · 16/05/2011 13:33

DH here. The reason they can't do a cervical stitch is because the waters have gone on baby 1, so there is a possibility of infection already and so having a stitch would be a bad thing. Theyre going to see what happens with it. If no infection sets in and the waters stop so it seems like the hole has sealed they will put a stitch in. Until then there is apparently nothing they can do.

MummyAbroad · 16/05/2011 13:28

Dach I am so sorry, what terrible news. I am praying for a miracle for you. xxx

Velvetcu · 16/05/2011 13:18

dachs I'm so sorry this is happening. Like the others have said I hope it's worst case. This is so shit

CollieandPup · 16/05/2011 12:58

Oh god dachs no no! I feel sick to my stomach for you. I really hope that that is the worst possible scenario and they are looking at what they can do to prevent that. Second everyones comments, get your dh there if he's not already and make sure you fight for every possible option to prevent the worst. And seek another opinion if you need to, doing nothing isn't acceptable. I'm so so sorry, you must be going through hell. We're all thinking of you and hoping and praying for the best. Huge hugs xxx

dachs I am so sorry ob wasn't more optimistic, big big (((hugs))) I am hoping and praying that he was trying to prepare you for the absolute worst case scenario and that things will turn out differently. Did he suggest anything that could be done or might help? Can you get a second opinion? Thinking of you xxx

salsa welcome and congrats on the bfp. This is a good place to be, these ladies are fabulous!

cep · 16/05/2011 12:25

dach i'm so sorry, I agree with the others, try and get a second opinion, there must be something they can at least try and do. keeping fx for you.

salsa welcome, i'm sorry for your loss but congratulations on your bfp. here is the perfect place to worry and stress.

LaraMi · 16/05/2011 12:19

What the hell, Dachs... Please, please get a second opinion right away.

Is anyone with you? Please make sure you have good support with you right now. If you want to off-load to any of us, please, please do - we're here.

harassedinherpants · 16/05/2011 12:17

Dachs I'm so very very sorry lovely. I hope this is worst case scenario, and that it doesn't come to it.

I second tiggers suggestion...... I have a friend currently on bed rest with a cervical stitch in. Surely that would be a start, at least something.

Thinking of you and sending you and dh much love x

salsa welcome to our thread! I'm sorry you have to be here, but congratulations on your bfp.

PinkFondantFancy · 16/05/2011 12:16

dacha is DH with you? Where are you?

PinkFondantFancy · 16/05/2011 12:15

dacha is there nothing they can do? Could they explain what's happened?

salsa sorry to hear about your MC but congratulations on the BFP! this is a great place for you to be in a 'problem shared, problem halved' kind of way!!

tiggersreturn · 16/05/2011 12:11

Oh Dachs I'm so sorry. I really really really hope that they're wrong. Isn't there anything they can do to close your cervix? I definitely remember reading about having cervical stitches at this point. If your dh isn't there already get him to come asap and advocate on your behalf because you're going to be in no state to do so. Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion if you can. Thinking of you continually.

DoubleDiffedDachs · 16/05/2011 12:05

Just seen doc. Most likely scenario is losing both twins over next couple of days. Gutted.

CollieandPup · 16/05/2011 11:58

Oh dachs i'm sorry. I hope your ob has arrived quickly. Must be very scary, but lots of good advice on here. I hope that they are able to do something. Baby can be ok with lower fluid too. Bed rest not ideal, but it will all ne worth it. Thinking of you.

Thinking of you dachs. Sorry you're having to go through this xx

Wombat33 · 16/05/2011 11:34

Oh Dachs FX your obs can help. Huge huge hugs. We're all here holding your hand xxx

SalsaP · 16/05/2011 11:20

Hi all. I had a mc in feb this year at 6 weeks - it was my first pregnancy. I waited 6 weeks for a period and then started ttc again. Did a clearblue last night which said I conceived 3+ weeks ago. My calculations are that I'm now 5 weeks. I'm really nervous about having another mc - I'm 35 years old so time is not on my side! Dreading these next few days/weeks.

harassedinherpants · 16/05/2011 11:20

Dachs very sorry to hear that, you must be so worried. Hope the obs is there now, and they can sort you out! Amazing what they can do these days. Fingers firmly x'd and thinking of you.

updiffed · 16/05/2011 11:11

Oh Dachs - So glad you OB is on their way, FWIW I have several friends who had placenta praevia, which is really scary with bleeding and bed rest, but they all turned out their babies ok. Very much certain you will be fine too... (((BIGHUGS))) to you lovely... xx

tiggersreturn · 16/05/2011 11:11

Dachs really sorry to hear that but keep calm. They can close the cervix at this stage. They can redistribute fluid as well - remember Mrsstevo on twins thread? Bed rest is not much fun but so long as you get healthy babies at the end that's the most important thing. I hope to hear better things from you.

hadrian · 16/05/2011 11:00

sorry dachs xposts. We are here to hold your hands and help you through this. So glad your obstetrician is coming to help.

PinkFondantFancy · 16/05/2011 10:59

dachs I am thinking about you and hoping so hard that the news is going to be so much better than you think. xxx

hadrian · 16/05/2011 10:57

quick note to give a massive to dachs. It must be terrifying but there are all sorts of harmless explanations for bleeding. Fx you are out getting a scan and someone is putting your mind at rest.

LaraMi · 16/05/2011 10:56

Good your obstetrician is en route. Please, please try and stay calm. Is your DH with you?
