Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

See here for the old thread.

Dachs You are all very much in my thoughts today too. I'm glad you got through the night and the pups are still in there. No infection is today's 'positive'. One day at a time. I hope you manage to get some rest today (I imagine you're under orders not to move very far from your bed at the moment?) Much love xx

Ladies, I may pluck up the courage and join you shortly if that's ok? I'm 5 weeks today (just a day behind Hairy) and things seem to be going in the right direction so far (I'm being monitored by a fertility clinic and my hcg is doubling nicely, progesterone is high etc). I'm very philosophical about this pg (at the moment) and I'm not really one for freaking out so hopefully I can try and offer some reassuring words and fill the room with a little zen from time to time (famous last words, hope I haven't just jinxed myself!).

hairylights · 17/05/2011 12:38

Dachs still thinking of you and hopoing all is well.

Bump I feel just like you describe - I'm glad symptoms have returned - sore boobs and feeling off my food, sick (ish) and generally a bit woozy - which could be due to low blood sugar I guess.

But still freaking out.

In my very early failed pregnancies symptoms haven't been this strong - but they were on the one which lasted 10 weeks (but died at 8).

Until I have my baby, I don't think I'm ever going to be able to settle and feel calm :(

CollieandPup · 17/05/2011 12:36

lurking for news fromdachs and hoping for that miracle.

OrangeGloss · 17/05/2011 12:31

Just seeing if there's any news from Dachs I'm thinking of the four of you

dooscooby · 17/05/2011 12:26

larami - my comment sounded really annoying didn't it - "just distract yourself, it's so easy" type thing. I didn't mean it like that, it's just I found it helpful last week to force myself to do some really horrid task that I'd been putting off doing for ages and my thought process was: "this might stop me worrying a little bit for a little while, but even if it doesn't and everything goes wrong with the scan, atleast I won't have this frickin awful task to do when I have to come back to work broken hearted?! Not sure it's the most healthy thought pattern, but hey ho!

Good luck to you too harassed. Keep chanting ladies x

katherine2008 · 17/05/2011 12:24

minnie big squeeze. I'm sure it'll all be fine and the scan tomorrow will reassure you. Bump, my MS started at about 7 or so weeks and stopped about a few days ago...

Minnie74 · 17/05/2011 12:16

dachs Glad to hear the pups are still where they should be. Still got everything crossed for you all. xx

lara collie harrassed banana can i join the scanning tomorrow mentalling please? Mines at half 5. Been bleeding (mostly brown with a bit of pinkish) again since Sunday and have some pretty bad period kind of pains today. Dp made me not go to work which I'm glad about really as have been feeling pretty tearful and fed-up, especially with dachs worrying news. Mw has changed my booking in appointment to this aft. I'm worried I'll just spend it crying! Not feeling positive at all anymore Sad Sorry to be so me me me.

Bumpwanted · 17/05/2011 12:14

Oh Dach hun we're all thinking of you and your DH. Excellents news there is no infection and nothing happened overnight. Fingers crossed this continues and all will be well. Sending you a big hug xx

Not a lot going on here. No really bad pains for 3 days and then last night was dreadful. Made me panic even more as I had sort of thought the pains had stopped and was starting to feel a bit better about things and so I was kicking myself for being lulled into a false sense of security. Am just taking it one day at a time and every day I am one day further on is a surprise and a bonus.

I am 6+1 now. Have sore boobs, very very tired and a bit of CM but nothing major. No morning sickness at all which in a funny way I wish would start as it would make me feel a bit better that things were developing as they should.

When did you guys get morning sickness/more CM? (apologies for the grossly personal question!)

xx

Silver sorry just saw you're already there and I replied to your posts last week. Mind is definitely going...

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 11:59

Another one wearing pantyliners all the time now. For me a bfp means oodles of cm!

Lara I'm trying hard not to mental for tomorrows scan...... trying.

Thanks for all the clothes advice! You'd never guess I'm a grown woman and a grandmother no less Grin. I've got some wrap around dresses, but I'm quite conscious of looking preg when I don't want people to know so trousers, jeans, leggings with floaty long tops are good. Also my maxi dresses. I think I'll invest in a bump band or two if everything's good tomorrow.

Mw has just changed my booking in appointment tomorrow. It was 7.30pm which was ideal, but now it's 3pm which isn't!! Trying to sort someone to pick up dd, and don't know if dh will be able to make. Never mind.

"THE ODDS ARE MASSIVELY ON YOUR SIDE THAT EVERYTHING'S OKAY"

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 11:40

Collie - I wear pantyliners all the time now...

Doo does passing away the day on MN count as "throwing myself into a task" ahead of my scan???!!! So scared of a MMC.

New mantra for tomorrow's scanners courtesy of Owl - "the odds are massively on your side that everything is okay"... Repeat it ladies... "THE ODDS ARE MASSIVELY ON YOUR SIDE THAT EVERYTHING'S OKAY"

KnitterNotTwitter · 17/05/2011 11:39

Just popping in to see how Dachs is... sorry you didn't sleep much but all things considered I guess it's not that surprising - hospitals aren't great places to sleep in the first place... And well done the pups - you stay in there do you hear....?!?

updiffed · 17/05/2011 11:27

Still thinking of Dachs Hoping there is no new news and those babies are still tucked up safe and sound.

izzy glad to hear your NT test went well :)

Me, well today is the exact point (6+4) where I started to m/c last year. Had an awful nights sleep mentalling about it. This morning I just had a reflexology session to try and destress. I'm in good spirts generally. I'm trying the philosophy of "There is nothing to stress about at the mo, so STOP stressing"... Its not working 100%... LOL

I hope everyone else is having a good day...

dooscooby · 17/05/2011 11:16

Morning all,
As everyone has said, dachs we're all thinking of you and hoping so much that things work out ok for you, you brave and kind lady x

Welcome and congrats to all the newbies reallyuseful, mamarara, the mysterious updiffed, lily and anyone else that I've forgotten.

Thanks to everyone who helped with my mentalling about brown cm on Sunday - it seems to have stopped for now so fingers crossed on that front. I had my booking in appt yesterday, it was my first time of making it that far and I found it really rubbish to be honest. So much paperwork, I just felt like a number and despite knowing that I'm under the RMC and my history I didn't feel like at any point the mw asked me anything like 'how are you feeling'. I don't expect to have very long with them but something remotely compassionate might have helped. She also accidentally gave me my hospital notes with everything else and then freaked out after I'd left the hosp and called my husband (who probably pooped himself that something was wrong when he got a call from a mw!) So, I got a good read of my notes and have to take them back next visit!

Anyway, re clothes - I'm also having problems, I hate getting dressed in the morning now! I'm skinny (not out of choice!) and popped out quite a bit for me in the early weeks, although I don't seem to have got any bigger since. I'm too afraid to buy anything remotely pg related so I'm doing the shame as someone else and wrapping a hair bobble around my trouser fastening and then trying to pick a top that covers it!

Congrats on the scan yetserday izzy. Good luck larami for tomorrow. It's been said by the others but I think the only thing that can help the mentalling in advance of the scan is distraction. It's really hard but it does help, so if you can throw yourself into some kind of task at work then it might pass and extra hour or two!

CollieandPup · 17/05/2011 11:16

wiw lovely to hear from you. Glad you keeping busy and preoccupied, but not too busy I hope?! I've had various low down twinges too, sone this morning.

I have a question. Today and yesterday I've had loads of very watery ave sone sticky creamy cm/discharge so much so that my knickers have been soaking, (sorry tmi) and am having to go out at lunch for some liners. Is this normal????

Lots of scannage tomorrow, lara banana harassed?? me anyone else??

OP posts:
LaraMi · 17/05/2011 10:33

WIW - hahhaa, have spent a good 30 mins of the first 1.5 hours of the working day googling all sorts of scan-related nonsense!

BTW - how are you coping with the Dubai heat? Must be pretty intense. Low-down twinges are totally fine...

wombatinwaiting · 17/05/2011 10:18

Hi everyone and sorry for lack of posting - extreeeeemely busy at work and seem to have quite a bit on in the evenings too - hmmm.... all seems to be ok bar the odd low-down twinge which is new - trying not to focus on them too much though.

Lara - please remember to breathe....! Not sending a haddock your way as 24 hour pre-scan mentalling is fine. Only advice I have is to do as much as you can to distract you (and no, that doesn't include googling about scans!)

Izzy - glad to read your NT scan went well - were you private and therefore have results same day?

Have just caught up on the last 2 days and so worried to read of what's happening with dachs and pups - I am so hoping that your little bit of good news goes on to be better news. Echoed by all already, but thinking of you and MrDachs lots.

tiggersreturn · 17/05/2011 10:05

Dachs - sorry you had a bad night but glad to hear they're still in there and no temp.

Silver try checking out the twins thread in antenatal clubs and MrsStevo's story. She has had TTTS but they've managed to redistribute the fluid.

banana87 · 17/05/2011 09:58

Thanks ladies. Did some research online and found out that even though they haven't done controlled studies on Imigran, they have collected data which show that 4% of pregnancies were with congenital defect (and who knows if thats due to the med). They say don't take it because there is not enough research. And then I read that it is ok to take ibuprofen in the second trimester. Woo hoo!

Harrassed I think there is some band thing you can buy that helps you stay in your own clothes for longer?? Sorry for the little help.

Hairy I am with you on the dreams, it's hormones! Hope you are able to fit a dream-free nap in today.

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 09:55

Harassed - amazing story I echo! With regards clothes, I can't recall how far along you are, but I can totally relate to you. My tum has become considerably rounded (am also tall and a 14-16) and every morning is a stress. Outside of work I live in jeggings with floaty tops but dressing for work is depressing. Nothing fits. I hope all goes well with my scan and then I can address the clothes situation more head-on. Am too scared at the mo.

On the subject of scans and fear, I too have mine tomorrow and am so scared, I feel quite ill. I am convinced the result will be negative and am just trying to prep myself for how I will handle it. If I think about it for longer than two seconds I turn into a nervous wreck. My DH sent me the scan pics of a colleague of his and I was too scared to open them because I didn't want to see how my pics "won't look". My sister is 12 weeks ahead of me and I am so scared I won't get to complete the journey with her. Banana - don't stress re the pills. I have been drugging myself up with asthma sprays and hayfever nasal sprays (with the docs approval of course).

OMG - how the hell am I going to get through today?

katherine2008 · 17/05/2011 09:55

oh and harrassed how about some maxi dresses and little cropped cardis?

katherine2008 · 17/05/2011 09:54

Just checking on dachs - and like everyone else have fx for today and the days ahead. Those little babydachs are stickers I tell you. Hi to all the newbies and welcome to the mentalling. It does get easier, it really does (she says hoping she hasn't just tempted the evil mentalling fairy back into her life)...

owlbooty · 17/05/2011 09:53

Still got everything crossed for good news, lovely xx

Harrassed I went down the tunic and leggings route, couldn't stand anything around the non-bump. That or my usual jeans held up with a hairband which works much better than you would think :)

Grin Nightmares are shitty; I still get the odd one. Long bath and mug of cocoa helped a bit but I think it's mainly the mentalling hormones doing it, unfortunately.

Banana if it wasn't the day before your scan I'd be sending a kipper your way. :) Remember, the odds are massively on your side that everything is okay. Hope it all goes well tomorrow. PFF is absolutely right about the drugs - it's just not ethical to test drugs on updiffed women so nobody dares do it; doesn't mean they are harmful.

CollieandPup · 17/05/2011 09:46

OMG harassed what a story! Re the clothes. I think if you'd be warm enough in a dress then go for it, only problem is it's been peeing it down for 3 days where I live so it could drag about in puddles. What about getting a long stretchy skirt, like leggins material? I live in ballet pumps all year round. A pain when it rains though! Would a bump belt help?
