Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

wow you lot have chatted a lot today!!!

blackkat I had a bleed at 11 weeks too and was also told it was normal and something to do with placenta. I'm glad it was all ok and that you got to see bean :)

dachs I'm pleased pups are still there, I am so hoping it all works out for you.

OrangeGloss · 17/05/2011 18:42

Dachs Angry at PIL, I agree your dh should have a word. I remember the thread about the lady whose waters broke in the US and she lasted for weeks. I don't mean to be insensitive and compare, I'm just thinking it can happen (((())))

pigletmania · 17/05/2011 18:32

Hi everyone (cheery wave) what a lovely friendly thread Smile. Lovely to see you all here, feeling a bit sick this afternoon and off my food which is a good sign as with the two early MC, I never felt that way.

Sad for Dachs thinking of you, and everyone else too that is going through a bad time at the moment, big (((((((((((((hugs to you))))))))))))

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 17/05/2011 18:20

dachs have been thinking of you today, good news the temp is staying down, try to focus on that. Every day those babies stay put brings them a step closer to viability. Am keeping everything crossed for you, lovely xxx

I do think your PILs were outrageously insensitive though Angry. Can you get dh to have a word with them to make sure it doesn't happen again?

bkackkat yay for a good scan, although sorry you had to go through the freaking out first. Hope you're feeling calmer now.

I think we have about five scanners tomorrow (!) so I'll be keeping my fx for you all too. Am hoping for a plethora of good news tomorrow please!

yrmotb your dinner sounds very healthy, our cupboards are bare and dh is driving back from north Wales so I'm toying with the idea of getting him to pick up a takeaway on his way in, but you're making me feel very unhealthy!! Oh and while you're here - why aren't you on the list yet?!

DCs have outed me to everyone at school, and I mean absolutely everyone, as feared, so I'm going to have to start facing it now . I think actually I'm worried about letting them down too - couldn't bear to have that conversation with them again.

wiggle did I see you popping in? Pull up a beanbag and make yourself at home x

Minnie74 · 17/05/2011 17:30

Congratsblackkat on your lovely scan. Grin And thanks for the reassurance-feeling a bit better now. Midwife was very blase (is that how you spell it?) about pain and bleeding so figure I need to try to be more positive. Glad I've got the scan tomorrow though.

lara harrassed and bump all your food chat has made me hungry! Potato waffles sound delish. I'm all about potato at the minute, especially chips and hula hoops (any flavour will do as long as it's at least 2 bags worth!) I think I'm going back to being 6 too as I had Madagascar pasta shapes for lunch the other day- much to the amusement of my workmates- I preferred alphabetti spaghetti though. And have you tried the new Rowntrees Very Berry Jellies -if you like haribo they're yum!

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 17:28

You had to mention Kiev's didn't you??!!......< adds them to the list>

So we're both ungrateful Lara Wink. Get a takeaway!! I would if I could....

He is lovely in lots of ways, he bought me one of those Chamilia bracelets the other weekend. No reason at all, and I'd been a total cow to him! I was stressed out because we were having friends for dinner and I was doing everything. So he went out to get some bits for me, and was blinking ages! Then he walks in with this bracelet and 3 bead things on it....

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 17:24

Hahhah Harassed - we both complained about our DHs and their cooking...

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 17:23

"ungrateful" I meant to say....

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 17:23

It was lovely and I sound ungrateful....... but I'm sick to death of it! We have it prob 3 or 4 times a week, more if he can get away with it. I wouldn't mind but I don't exactly cook unhealthy food anyway, except on the odd occasion.

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 17:22

Glad you've made it through the afternoon, Bump. Am going home to DH's bunging in the oven cooking. Bless. Whereas I have dinner on the go the minute I step through the door, I can guarantee dinner won't get anywhere near started until he's watched the Simpsons (yes, the bloody Simpsons). I however, want to eat as quickly as possible, shower and get into bed to make the time pass fast until tomorrow. I can already envisage that in the event that even so much as frown at the fact he's slumped on the sofa until 8pm, I will get accused of being ingrateful, we will argue, he will then say he's not coming to the scan tomorrow, we will argue more, I won't sleep well and then tomorrow will be a disaster. Think I'd better keep my mouth shut, huh?!

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 17/05/2011 17:22

You lot are making me starving.

What I want is Alphabites and mini Kievs.

What I will get is Asparagus, trout, hollandaise and a poached egg. I can't decide if this is a Good Thing or not..

Bumpwanted · 17/05/2011 17:14

oh yeah. mouth full of saliva watching that advert!! YUM. M&S and aphabites here I come!!

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 16:45

Yes - it's the spinach and ricotta one... Looks to die for....

Your dinner last night sounds lovely though... I am addicted to pizza at the mo...

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 16:42

Is that the spinach & ricotta one with tomato sauce??? God I'd kill for that!!!

Dh is an amateur boxer and always on a stupid healty diet, and I'm fed up with it. Dinner last night was steak, brocolli, sweet corn and pasta. Dd and I only a tomato sauce on our pasta when I moaned........ Tonight will be similar. I want pizza and lasagne and curry..... Ooooh curry!!! I've just posted about this on the Whats for dinner thread on Chat.

Not that I'm food obsessed at the moment.....

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 16:35

Alphabites - YUM! Not had them since I was about 5.

I too bought a box of potato waffles a few weeks ago upon someone's recommendation... However, not been able to stomach them.

Fancying chilli con carne tonight. I think my food repulsions are fading (which is enough to send me into a minor freak-out).

Delighted with the banana cake recipe. Will have to try it tomorrow (am working from home - perfect opp to bake hahaha!)

OOH - forgot to say, for the past two weeks that M&S ad has been driving me insane with its deliciousness (the ravioli one, not the bra one). So much so that DH bought me a pack on Sunday. Have decided I will eat it tomorrow for lunch - it will be my celebratory lunch if the scan goes well and my commiseratory lunch if the scan is awful.

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 16:21

I was warned that we might not see a hb at 6+1, and it was very comforting to see it there although I know it's going to make it worse tomorrow if it's all gone wrong. I've had loads of pains, I'm sure you'll be just fine!!

Yup, they still make alphabites, and alphabet spagetti - one of the joys of having dd, we get to all yummy junk food sometimes Grin.

Bumpwanted · 17/05/2011 16:08

Oh yes I remember now and I remember when you saw the HB! That's so lovely Grin I def think you are right to go back at 8 weeks. Us post MC ladies need a bit of TLC and I can totally understand why you feel nervous about booking in etc without seeing it again. I am sure though you have nothing to worry about and so you will have aother fab scan tomorrow!

I am 6 + 1 today. Unfortunately I had a massive freak out at 5+3 with all the pain I have been having so was scanned then. No heartbeat and pretty much just an empty sac. They said that is totally normal and the size was right on track for my dates but still...would have felt loads better to have seen a hearbeat. Going back at 8 weeks and am very scared all I will see is another empty sac...

Potato waffles...never would have entered my head to eat them until now and now I want them. Def with baked beans. I also quite fancy those potatoes shaped liked the alphabet. I haven't eaten them since I was about 6...do they still make them? Ooh and alphabet spagetti...essentially I want to eat anything that someone mentions!

clareanna · 17/05/2011 15:56

dachs have been thinking of you lots- good that temp and pups are stable xxx

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 15:55

Collie It's a well known fact that potatoe waffles should only be eaten with baked beans and a fried egg...... my mouth is now watering and I threw the waffles out before my bfp as dd wasn't eating them Hmm! Monster munch are def smaller, like everything. Except my tummy Grin.

Bump no that's fine! I had a scan at 6+1 as my symptoms subsided, and my mc in March was at 5+1 so panicked. Epu had me straight in thanks to fab ward sister, and pantsbaby was spot on with a hb. Was nice to cry there for a good reason!!!

I'm going in again tomorrow at spot on 8 weeks for another scan as I'm refusing to be booked in without one. I had a mmc in Jan, discovered at 10+1 that baby had died at 7 wks. The worst thing I found was that I'd had my booking in, done my bloods, had scan app set up and dh and I were making plans. I don't want that to happen again!!! How far along are you now??

CollieandPup · 17/05/2011 15:41

Yumm monster munch! I had a grab a bag size of flamin hot ones on Sunday!! Delicious!! But you have to eat the toes first!!!! Anyone else think they are smaller than they used to be, or is it just that I'm bigger????

Speaking of food, you all got me craving potatoe waffles after talking about the so much the other week. So I've bought some, but don't know what to have with them. Suggestions on a postcrd pls????

OP posts:
Bumpwanted · 17/05/2011 15:40

YUM! I don't particularly like bananas but I want to make the cake. It sounds delicious!

8 weeks! That's so exciting!!! Sorry for the bad memory but have you had a scan yet? Is your first one 12 weeks?

x

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 15:30

This is our banana cake recipe. Sprinkle some sugar on the top before baking too...... yummy!!

Dh bought me a big bag of just pickled onion at the weekend, they're too die for. Also Appletiser. Haven't had it for years, but soo delicious. I have a strange yearning for milk, which is odd because I hate milk unless in tea or on cereal. Haven't actually drunk any yet, but might try it later.

Bump I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow.

Bumpwanted · 17/05/2011 15:11

Harassed you have to stop talking about pickled onion monster munch! After you said it the other day I had to go and buy some on the way home - DH thinks I am 5 years old as I also wanted a carton of ribena to go with it!

How far along are you now? xx

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 15:11

Monster Munch rock - not had them for years though.... I am also very fickle - tastes change by the day.

Incidentally I am looking for a good banana cake recipe so if you happen to have one, messaging it this way would be appreciated! (Appreciate it's wholly unrelated to the theme of the thread).

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 15:02

Missed your last post Dachs - very glad things are uneventful and hoping they stay that way. I'm sure your waters can regenerate. Not the right word but can't think of the right one! PIL were incredibly thoughtless, so sorry.
