Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

See here for the old thread.

Just saw doc. Nothing much to report. More of the same lying here waiting for stuff to happen.

OrangeGloss · 19/05/2011 15:08

Dachs every day is another day overcome, you are doing so well in what is an unbearable situation. I hope you have some friends that can come round and keep you company. Am thinking of all 4 of you ((()))

IreneHeron · 19/05/2011 14:36

Thanks Blackkat, I was going to ask about a fee. It has been so hard to get through to them and talk to a non-voicemail about it. I'm a bit fed up with them actually, they've been quite rude in keeping me in the dark about what's going on. I feel taken for granted a bit. The house looks lovely though, clean and fresh for a change even in our family bits. I've been cleaning so much this pregnancy I think I'll call the baby Flash, or Dettol perhaps.

Think I'm feeling a few kicks, am having a rest with a cuppa in the garden and I think baby is moving. I think I had a few false alarms earlier in the pregnancy.

Wombat33 · 19/05/2011 14:26

argh - really should proof read my posts! I do have a brain really... I just hide it particularly well Smile

Wombat33 · 19/05/2011 14:24

Dachs it's totally not surprising your feeling down. You've been on an absolutely rollercoaster these last few days. You're not alone though - we are all here to keep you company. Sorry it's not in person.

Collie it may seem strange (I'm sure it does to my DH too), but I'm totally in your DH's camp. People who find out I'm pg now (nearly 24 weeks) keep saying 'ooooh it must have been so hard keeping it to yourself this long" to which I'm afraid my response is: " not really, if I could I wouldn't tell anyone until bub was safely here". I don't know why I feel that way. Self-defence maybe. The more I admit it to people the more it becomes real to me and the harder I fear the pain will be if it gooes wrong. Also, I prefer to deal with my pain in private rather than feel like I have to 'perform' or 'present a public face' with everyone knowing what's going on. My MC was early enough that no one knew and that was fine by me. I feel having to deal with another loss in a more public way if people know I'm pg. Does that make any sense at all...? Of course, now I'm getting bigger, anyone I see in person 'knows' and I've had to tell people who I haven't seen but I know would feel put out they hadn't been told if they later find out that others knew. So my hand is being forced.

katherine2008 · 19/05/2011 14:16

I can't seem to type today - apologies for garble above..

katherine2008 · 19/05/2011 14:16

knitter you take your time, you know that always a comfy cushion for you here whenever you want it. I have thought about you a lot, especially waiting for my NT results.

dachs are there are friends you can get to visit you hun just to keep your mind off things.

looking forward to seeing irene accidentally walk into shot on a Television set near me very soon!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/05/2011 14:10

Nope not seen the ads? I'm crap at cooking so buying one ready made would be great, will have a look about next time I'm near M&S.

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 14:08

Coconuts - Metformin was GP-prescribed. I took a half dosage for the first twelve weeks and have therefore just stopped it.

Yep - the pasta is from M&S... It's the one that's been on TV the past few weeks. It is highly recommended

harassedinherpants · 19/05/2011 14:07

Have you not seen the ads Coconut?? I practically drool over the tv...

I had to make my own yesterday. Bought some filled pasta and made my own sauce, it was lovely but I had to make it!

harassedinherpants · 19/05/2011 14:06

Dachs you're doing marvellously well lovely! Whereabouts are you?? I would come and chat nonsense to you all afternoon Grin.

Lara you are evil and I'm Envy...... and that's no ms!!!

Knitter looking forward to your return!

Irene sounds stressful, make sure they wipe their feet.

Actually I have no idea what 4 in a bed is, someone tell me please?!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/05/2011 14:04

Lara - Don't take my word for it! Perhaps you can ask your gynae/obs next time you see them. I presume you're consultant led due to the meds? I never got round to getting metformin as my BFP came about 3 days before my appointment for meds. Sod's law! Are you only meant to take metformin until 12weeks?

Surprising how many of us here have PCOS.

That pasta you and harrassed are talking about sounds seriously lovely. M&S did you say?

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 13:53

Irene - xpost - I love that show (well really, anything low-brow that can be passed off as reality TV). You have a B&B too? You must send us the link! Sounds very stressful having a film crew over. I can barely cope with neighbours right now.

Blackkat · 19/05/2011 13:52

knitter your spot is reserved Smile (alongside some other notable reserved spots) Smile

irene I hope those grasping tv types are paying you a location fee (they should be even if it's only £30, they'll plug their lights into your power or charge their camera batteries for sure), and make sure you read the small print of any release form they give you. [ex-tv producer emoticon]

Coconuts thanks, perhaps that's it... I'll keep my FX it carries on

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 13:51

Cool - so we are temporarily PCOS-free? I was taking Metformin til yesterday (on a reduced dosage) but have now stopped (which has given me something else to worry about).

Harassed - you HAVE to hunt high and low for that pasta. It was mega. Everything you'd want giant spinach and ricotta ravioli with tomato and garlic sauce, toasted pine-nuts, spinach and a smattering of mozzerella (!!!) to be and more. Bloody awesome. Now am well equipped for a post-lunch, working from home snooze shortly.

Knitter - you will be back here properly soon but in the meantime, we love you staying here to chat.

IreneHeron · 19/05/2011 13:46

Hang on in there Dachs, you've made it this far, you're obviously strong.

Having people from the telly box coming in this afternoon, they're filming 4 in a Bed in our conservatory. We've had a contestant staying with us this week, she stayed in another local B&B last night and is having her interview at our house, a neutral place. Have been cleaning and tidying like a demon.

Have been thinking of joining the grads thread soon. I'm getting my head round to it.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/05/2011 13:42

Blackkat - I think when you are pregnant the FSH and LH aren't produced in the same way that they are when you are not pregnant so the follicles don't grow as much. I may be wrong but it would explain why a woman doesn't ovulate when pregnant. I'll have to dig out my books and have another read. At my 12 week scan they checked my ovaries and they appeared normal and my corpus luteum had srunken normally so perhaps if the pregnancy is a successful one the ovarian problems of PCOS temporarily disappear.

CollieandPup · 19/05/2011 13:19

Dachs ((Hugs)) I'm not suprised either, you have really been through it these past couple of days. Is dh not with you today? Any news from the crapy BUPA? What hospital are you in? I wish there was something we could do for you. You've been so incredibly strong these past few days, Alexander and Felica clearly take after you, the little fighters that they are. Keep strong dachs, we are all so desperatley rooting for the four of you. xxxx

Have added myself on, looks like you're doing it in EDD order so think I have it in the right place :)

Have been to fetch DD and took her for ice cream. Mmmm, italian ice cream with nuts on :) Fancy a sandwich but DH has eaten all the bread and can't be arsed to go back up town. Grr. Typical! Feeling a bit better now, hope I can get through the rest of the day.

Dachs, sorry you're feeling so low, it's to be expected tho, you've had a crazy few days.

Thanks for everyone's lovely supportive messages and welcome. I shall like it here I think Grin

LaraMi · 19/05/2011 13:18

Lily - we all felt / feel like that.... 7 weeks is a fab time to have the scan. If I need cheering up I look at the grads section and see how many ladies have gone through what we're going through and come out of it with beautiful, healthy babies.

WIW - keep away from those construction sites. Am worried about you in that heat.

Knitter - big hugs - you're one tough cookie. Thought about you when I was in your part of SW London the other day.

Dachs - you are still updiffed and you have great care. Just hang on in there.

Harassed - you're not nuts. Well you are, but not about that. We are all different and if I recall, there are lots of ladies that made the same decision as you and went on to have healthy little ones. Ooohhh - just to tantalise you... guess what I'm about to put in the microwave?!?! (yes, seriously... it's still well in date, I just didn't get to eat it yet). With any luck it will be a huge anti-climax and then you won't need to go wasting your time traipsing around M&S branches.

dooscooby · 19/05/2011 13:17

oh dachs sending you much love. These last few days must have been unimaginably tough for you, the constantly changing scenario and subsequent emotions will really be taking it out of you and I'm not suprised that you're feeling miserable. Do you have any company during the day?
Keep fighting, you're doing amazingly xxx

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 19/05/2011 13:14

dachs I'm sorry you're feeling so down, but not surprised - the stress itself must have been absolutely exhausting over the last few days. Those babies are fighters and every day, every hour further you get is another step closer to things working out. Try not to worry too much re the insurance and let dh/hospital deal with that. Sending you a huge virtual (((hug))), lovely xxx
