First clomid pill popped last night

After more than a decade of fertility problems/miscarriages and then 2 miracle kids, we are embarking on our last ditch attempt for #3. It may be greedy, it may be foolish but we would love to have a bigger family. i don't seem able to get pg without intervention so clomid has been prescribed again.

If it doesn't work then I think we will finally have closure on a very long fertility journey. Even if it DOES work then it will be another miracle if I can hang on to the pg. I have had 7 m/c over the years.

We are very very lucky to have our 2 dcs but fingers crossed the lucky pills have one more dose of baby dust inside.

Thanks Serendipity I googled and found out that some docs seems to prescribe it on either days 2-6 or 5-9 so I think I should be ok and will give it a whirl.

Thanks hippychick I'm really hoping it is a super-drug. Am a little bit dubious as I think it's only been described to me as we fall into the 'unexplained subfertility' category and I don't think they have anything else to suggest at this stage - but fingers crossed all the same Smile

It should be fine to take it on days 5-9.
Some doctors say to take them on 2-6, 3-7 or 5-9 ..... or at least these are the ones i've heard of being used most.
Taking it on days 5-9 may make you O a bit later than day 18.

Hello ladies,

I've just been prescribed Chlomid and can collect my prescription tomorrow - the thing is that will be day 5 of my current cycle, will I have to wait a whole month to start or do you think it would be ok to take it on days 5-9?? I usually ovulate around day 18 so have a bit of a late ovulation, not sure if that makes a difference?

Hi, how are you all doing?

I took my first 5 pills and am now on CD9. started the SMEP last night (Sperm meets egg plan). Basically you start shagging on day 8 and continue every other day until you get a positive on an OPK and then you do it for 3 days in a row, waia day and one for luck Shock. It's all a bit much really but I think I ought to go for it if I'm using clomid.

Also, I'm taking th cough mixture and grapefruit juice.

I think i have missed the boat hippy - i think eggs have been and gone. Oh don't worry your LH surge will release them. She injected me to induce ovulation. Otherwise, my eggs just sit around for days and days which means i have a short LP. I think my releasing mechanism is slow but by inducing ovulation, hopefully my LP will be longer...in theory!

I am a bit worried that you said you had to have an injection to make the eggs release. I'm not being scanned so how will my eggs know to release (I thought they just did it Confused).

Hi - that doesn't sound very nice Hippy! Poor you. I had my scan on CD10 which showed a couple of ripe follicles. So i was injected with HCG to make them release. Stupidly i didn't take the cough syrup and for the first time ever i didn't get ewcm this month so i can't see how they will swim up there. I used conceive plus though. I would start taking the cough syrup now ig uess....

I took my second pill last night and had 4am insomnia and dreadful morning sickness this morning. I assume these are side effects I will have to put up with. So all the symtoms of pregnancy and no lovely little secret - how shit is that? Grin

Can I ask please..... When did you start the cough mixture?, do you only start it when you think you might be building up to ovulation or should I be taking it now (CD 4). Any news emma?

AF turned up today - hoo hiss. Exactly 14 days after I ov'd - so that's a good Luteal Phase I guess. I used to be worried it was too short at 10/11 days but it has gradually increased.

Anyway, I will therefore be popping my first clomid pill tomorrow night.

Any news on the blood test yet emma?

Your hen night is in 2 weeks - wow - you like to have an exciting life don't you? I can see why you need to know whether you are or not. Who the hell can wait 2 weeks to test again anyway - my God you'd need nerves of steel.

shy one? they are sending me 4 a blood test even know they wasnt gonna they said re test in 2 weeks and act as if i am but i have my hen night in just over 2 weeks

since being on clomid it can b anything from 27 to 34 the longest i never done any ovulation tests but i do ovulate

emma is CD 38 unusual for you? Do you know when you ovulated? Maybe you are pregnant but it's not showing up on the test - that does sometimes happen. A blood test would be a definite yes or no. Fingers crossed for you. Smile

I also am not being scanned as clomid came from my gp i have 1 progesterone blood test on day 21 on my 1st month on clomid and it went up to 96 i have taken 3 months now and last month was 100mg i also took the robitusun medicine last month i am now on cd38 i have had 4 bfn and going to the doctors tomorrow to hopefully have a blood test

joy - i think the man can have thrush with no symptoms and will continuously give it back to the woman. That would explain the multiple times you've had it. Get him to pop a pill (he definitely can!) Hang in there, lovie.

I bought generic cough mixture it says guaifenesin on the front and has no other active ingredients. 2 teaspoons - 3 times a day. Bought from Tescos for under £2. Worth a shot I feel.

I'm not being scanned cos my clomid came from my GP and she has said only 3 months and only 50mg allowed.

kea I get what you mean about people trying for their first and you already have kids. I do feel very lucky to have my sons and I do appreciate that I am being cheeky to want one last baby and I can see why you would feel odd having to take your child to ACU. Hopefully there will be enough good luck floating around so that those trying for their first get lucky and there will be just enough luck left for us who have already been blessed with kids to get another one Grin

Thanks Hippy - I will get the pessary. Urrgh , it's so annoying. I had never had it until last year and i have had it about 5 times now. I found out at the w/e I have given it to DH and i wonder whether he has been passing it back to me Shock!! TTC #1 seems like the impossible right now and this doesn't help!

Kea - i have my scan on Monday next week. I bought Robitusun yesterday - it was for chesty cough and just said Guinafesn (sp) on the front...but a bunch of other stuff in the blurb. I have no idea when to take it though or if it's the right stuff....

I am really a bit clueless about what i'm expecing from clomid. My consultant hasn't really told me much. Does anyone know whether it's suppose to effect progesterone levels?
