After more than a decade of fertility problems/miscarriages and then 2 miracle kids, we are embarking on our last ditch attempt for #3. It may be greedy, it may be foolish but we would love to have a bigger family. i don't seem able to get pg without intervention so clomid has been prescribed again.

If it doesn't work then I think we will finally have closure on a very long fertility journey. Even if it DOES work then it will be another miracle if I can hang on to the pg. I have had 7 m/c over the years.

We are very very lucky to have our 2 dcs but fingers crossed the lucky pills have one more dose of baby dust inside.

thanks for all the headache advice

feel like i've blown my chances this month as my teenager totally wound me up into a huge stress and now my body wont want to conceive....

Sad
hippychick66 · 15/06/2011 13:54

LOL @ pink waiting for her husband!!!!

hippychick66 · 15/06/2011 13:08

They are out to fool me - I tell you these boobs are evil Grin

I'm 10 days post ov - same as you jebel - will test at week-end if no AF. You??

Good news on the peak pink - yes I felt very tender around my ovaries at ov time and convinced myself it was cos I had over stimulated and was about to become 'octomum'!!

I was invited to go back into my old job and see two new born babies who were being brought in by their on mat leave mummies today. i managed to make the thing that I was doing at the school take a bit longer so I was unable to go and see the babies. I felt a bit of a bitch not going, but after my two MCs last year I just don't need to see new babies at the moment - am I mean?

capiche i looked up side effects of clomid (to see if it was accounting for my high temps) and read this about headaches _

A little over 1% of women in clinical trials reported headaches as a side effect of Clomid. If you?re experiencing headaches, it may help to take the medication in the evening, instead of the morning, so you can sleep through them. (If your doctor told you to specifically take the medication in the morning, you should ask first.) You should also be sure to get plenty of fluids, since mild dehydration can also lead to headaches.

PinkCustard · 15/06/2011 13:07

Thanks Jebel - got one in the bag last night (so to speak!) and am jiggling around my lounge in my nipple tassles and crotchless panties in anticipation of DH's return from work later Grin

Jebel · 15/06/2011 12:52

Hurrah for peak pink - get off the boards and start swi like a young thing.

capiche I haven't had any Clomid headaches but am feeling terrible at the moment 9DPO (or is it 10, I don't know - baby brain?). Don't know if it can affect the whole cycle.

PinkCustard · 15/06/2011 12:37

Capiche I have had a couple of mild headaches, but nothing more than that. I do occasionally get migraines (used to get them regularly as a teenager) and I know how horrendous they are so you have my sympathies.

Hippy all sounding good so far for you - had to smile at your comment 'I have been fooled by my boobs so many times in the last year' Like they're deliberately out to trick you Grin Keeping my fingers crossed for you. What dpo are you now?

Well I had a mini celebration to myself in the bathroom this morning as I finally got my Peak on the CBFM Hoorah! Still feeling quite bloated and tender around the ovary region - did everyone else get this?

hippychick66 · 15/06/2011 10:17

I have to say that I was lucky and didn't seem to get any side effect like headaches. Sorry that probably doesn't help much Smile

Yes these last days of the cycle are the worst. i had another really high temp this morning and a horrible graphic dream, plus my boobs feel like they are stuck on Dolly Parton fake ones. All symptoms of pregnancy but alas also symptoms that there is a lot of preogesterone floating about. I have been fooled by my boobs so many times in the last year. I will just have to wait and see.

Anyone with egg whites, get shagging immediately Grin

Capiche · 14/06/2011 21:47

anyone get dreadful headaches and or migraines...I have suffered terribly this month?

PinkCustard · 14/06/2011 16:54

Yes Hippy Poi off 'Show Me Show Me' she was there flaunting her bump this morning Humph. (Disclaimer - I have a 3 yr old DS which is why CBeebies was on, I wouldn't choose to watch it otherwise).

I really hate the few days before AF/testing that you're in at the moment, I find it the most stressful part of the month. Try to keep calm!!

Happily I've had loads of EWCM today (as if you really wanted to know!) so looks like egg(s) could be imminent and I haven't missed the boat yet. Also looks like EPO could be helping to counteract the effects of clomid on EWCM..?

Welcome Happy at least you know that it's taken you a while to get preg before and so hopefully it's just a matter of time again - and of course once you getting popping those clomid tablets you'll be pregas before you know it Wink

hippychick66 · 14/06/2011 13:38

happy I too had lazer for endo. Welcome to the thread - good luck with the clomid Grin

pink It's all so crap isn't it. No matter how hard we try not to think about it - it sneaks into your brain anyway.

Who is Poi? i'm thinking the chinese girl on CBeebies? Wow that takes me back haven't watched Cbeebies for a while.

I can't test until the week-end and am driving myself nuts with all the maybes. Will I never learn????

happystressedmum · 14/06/2011 13:07

Can I join too?

Have been ttc number 3 too for over a year now and am 39. Tried for two years the first time and a year the 2nd time. Recently had laparoscopy where they zapped endometiosis. Consultant prescribed clomid - 50mg for 3 months for now waiting for AF to arrive at the end of the week and can start - woo-hoo!!!

PinkCustard · 14/06/2011 09:43

Just had call from my consultant as I'd phoned for my day 21 results and my progesterone level was 146, which he said shows that I ovulated. So that's good news - just what I needed as feeling grumpy about it all.

He also said though that clomid should help regulate my periods as although they are usually around 30 days, I sometimes get a 34 day one when I ovulate late. He said to keep monitoring my periods and if they don't regulate to up the dose to 100mg. Not sure about this really as if I'm ovulating already I don't want to risk overstimulation and increased side effects etc...but will see how it goes I suppose.

I suspect I ov-ed last night as ovaries were sore, we last did 'it' on Sunday night and will do it again tonight (and prob tomorrow for good measure) hope I haven't mistimed things. Think I need to calm down and remind myself I am doing all I can, the rest is out of my hands. (And breathe)

Sorry for rambling, hope everyone else is doing ok x

PinkCustard · 14/06/2011 09:30

I'm feeling totally fed up of the whole thing this morning - sick of trying to guess when ov is happening, and completely sick of thinking about it ALL THE TIME!!

And now even Poi's bloody well pregnant! When is it my turn for a lovely baby bump??!!! Angry

Not too long for you to wait now Jebel...

Jebel · 14/06/2011 07:09

pink not sure re NHS as am not in the UK and have to pay every time I sneeze.

I'm only 8 DPO and felt like AF was coming last night but not. Having hot flushes. Don't like not knowing what is going on with my hormones. Need to go and sit under the aircon.

Capiche · 13/06/2011 23:49

gawd i'm tired - it saps me this stuff

PinkCustard · 13/06/2011 17:18

Thanks Jebel although I'm receiving treatment on the nhs so not sure they'll stretch to scans etc..? I've often thought I could do with some progesterone supplements but I'm not really basing that on anything scientific or diagnosed Hmm

Phoned the consultant's lovely secretary today as my 21day blood tests weren't available when I had my appointment last week (from 2 separate months, as they'd been sent to the wrong hosp!) so she's chasing up the results for me even though the consultant seemed confident that I'm ov-ing and said she would phone me if they showed otherwise. I'd just feel better having the results.

Thanks Capiche looks like I might be waiting a couple more days at least for the magic egg then.

Sorry hippy I gave up temping yonx ago and don't know about the possible effects of clomid on them - I'm sure someone more useful will be along shortly. Fingers crossed you really are triphasic!!

hippychick66 · 13/06/2011 12:23

clomidhelpneeded so sorry you got your period. Do you think you will try any more cycles with clomid or are you serious about giving up? It's a hard decision isn't it? Thinking of you.

My temp went up really high this morning and I was thinking ohhh triphasic maybe. But I guess I will have to see if it stays right up there. My eldest son went on a school trip today and it is his first time away from home so maybe I was stressing about that and that could account for the high temp.

Can clomid have an effect on your temps later on in the cycle?? Anyone know?

Capiche · 13/06/2011 11:33

Clomid can make you late to ovulate rather than early. It supresses the hormones whilst you take it so that when you stop it your body is tricked into thinking you need MORE to stimulate ovaries as they are not responding.... Last month I od on day 22 and fertility nurse said 'absolutely normal'
This month I was earlier but still day 16. Deffo not early though hth!

Jebel · 13/06/2011 11:28

Hey pink - if clomid doesn't work a couple of times, I recommend asking for an ultrasound around time of ov so that the doctor can actually confirm that you have ripe follicles ready to release an egg (and warn you if you are at a high risk of multiples). They can also measure your endometrium. Last cycle (no clomid) mine wasn't sufficient so she gave me progesterone supplements. This cycle (with clomid) she was very happy with the thickness so I am not having supplements. I have a shortish luteal phase so the progesterone helps to extend it by thickening the womb lining and delaying the shredding that is AF. Anyway, fx that this cycle of clomid works for you, I know several people who weren't monitored and have got pg very happily :)

clomid sorry to hear about AF :(

PinkCustard · 13/06/2011 11:20

Blimey now my right ovary's joined in - maybe they're both brewing one up...double the chance with a bit of luck Grin

PinkCustard · 13/06/2011 11:13

Jebel try not to worry about next month yet as you may get good news by the end of this week...

Clomid sorry about AF, how totally crap. How many cycles have you been taking it for? My consultant has told me to take it for 9 months Shock and then go back for another appointment if not preg by then, but the prescription was actually for 12 months worth!

I'm a bit concerned that I'm not being monitored at all - well, he told me to have 2 day21 blood tests on different months at some time over the 9 months, but that was it. But on the other hand I was just grateful to have something to try, and I suspect that a slightly short LP might be a bit of a problem for me and I believe clomid can be helpful with this...and basically after 17 months I'm willing to try just about anything.

No news here - my CBFM is stilling playing silly beggars so I can't properly monitor whether I'm ov-ing yet, but I've still got a heavy feeling in the place where I imagine my left ovary to be so hopefully a juicy ripe egg is on the verge of being fired out.

clomidhelpneeded · 13/06/2011 10:36

Sorry I haven't been around. Clomid wasn't my friend this month and I came on last week. I think that is probably it for us. Good luck to you all!

Jebel · 13/06/2011 10:23

Hi pink - I am seeing doctor for a blood test on 20th but am sure I will start poas on friday as I can't help myself! I don't feel confident at all and had a horrible upset stomach and was throwing up at the weekend. And already worrying about swi next month as the timing will be all wrong... staying in other people's houses, not in the country so doctor can't monitor me etc.

hippychick66 · 12/06/2011 21:03

Sorry that was meant to be posted on my 40+ thread - what an idiot!!!

hippychick66 · 12/06/2011 21:02

BB I think you were confused as to why you got a load of early highs on your monitor and wondered if it was the clomid. Someone just posted on another thread I'm currently following yes I have some other friends too Grin (the thread is about taking clomid for the first time) and they put this:-

I checked on the CBFM website and it said clomid can cause a false early High reading and more High days than usual, so I think that's what's happened...

I thought it might help you - but if I am remembering wrong - just ignore me or shoot me or something Grin
