Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage? There is plenty of support, hand holding and problem-shared-problem-halved going on over here. All welcome to join in.

just eaten bag of ready salted squares...yummm

LaraMi · 11/05/2011 13:25

Awww - thanks Blackkat - it's actually just the walk-in at the EPU. I contemplated going in again tomorrow AM but then figured I might as well hold fire til next week. (Plus if you recall I am trying to get out of Dubai business trip the week after next). Weird logic is that if something is wrong and bean isn't there anymore and I need to be hospitalised then better I find out next week and then don't have to go to Dubai the week after rather than it happening now and then me being well enough in time for Dubai. Totally nuts logic I know but my weird way of convincing myself it's best to find out next week. Gah - so bloody stupid!

ps - I love crisps too - salt and vinegar these days are yum!

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 12:50

Lara call the mw back, I'm sure she'd do it for you this pm if you asked???

LaraMi · 11/05/2011 12:49

Just spoke to DH who said he didn't understand either why I didn't have a scan this AM. Now am mentalling. How could I have been so stupid.... Oh well - have to get through the next week I guess.....

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 12:40

Hi Daisy what I meant was that when I was at 4 or 5 weeks, I felt daunted to add myself to a list with people who were so much further on than me, bcs it made me feel like I was the stat waiting to happen. (bollocks I know). So it could just be me feeling like that, and others aren't bothered, but I wanted to voice it bcs I was worried that lots of people post here and then seem to disappear in the very early stages, and I wanted to make sure it wasn't bcs so many of us are now that bit further on? Hope that eases the confusion and makes some sense from my rather foggy brain.Smile

Right, Collie Daisy that makes 3 of us?!!

Daisybell1 · 11/05/2011 12:28

Northern meeting - yes please Grin (although I'm still going to try and make the field trip). I'm in the wilds of Cumbria

Happy to be on a grads list although a little Confused that my presence may have been daunting for others.

Thanks for the best wishes re the appointment - I think I'll make a list of the possible causes/effects so I don't forget anything.

PS, I can't remember if I shared this on here or on the other thread but for those worried about the jinx pixies and the aquisition of stuff. I have a theory that if I am given baby items, they come with their own barrowload of Thrift Fairies, who then beat the jinx pixies off so they can't strike Grin

LaraMi · 11/05/2011 12:19

Ah fab - we are both being scanned next week... To warn you, if I disappear and don't come back, it will be cos the scan is bad news

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 12:18

Blush Jolls i posted earlier and am so sorry bcs I forgot to let you know I was thinking of you, so sorry to hear about the CP. Hope to see you here again soon. X

Lara, I'm knackered, peeing a lot, and have some funny ice lolly and crisp cravings. I can't believe you missed out on a chance to have a cheeky scan Shock and I really think you need to step away from the stat mentalling. Please try!! Grin

Collie not sure who's up here, think YRMOTB and know Chloe and Mouse from t'other threads are.

Wombat of course we'd want you all to stay on the thread, I was just wondering how to make it feel less daunting when you first find out pregnant Smile

LaraMi · 11/05/2011 12:18

just not jusr, obviously

CollieandPup · 11/05/2011 12:18

PMSL lara well a week will pass before you know it. my next scan is weds too

LaraMi · 11/05/2011 12:14

Ahhhhhh - DtD - I geddit now! . We're not erm DtDing (sp?!) either. Am scared crapless to do it. I think I'd freeze up in fear at anything happening and totally kill the moment. We in fact discussed that very issue this AM and DH agreed. I think he's worried too. (To be honest can't say I'm disappointed - not feeling particularly sexy right now and I tend to be out like a light by 9pm)

YES, I DECLINED a scan. So bloody stupid. So for the next seven days: constant knicker-checking, boob-prodding, Dr googling, sleepless nighting and jusr general paranoia. What an idiot.

CollieandPup · 11/05/2011 11:58

LOL @ lara you do make me giggle. I can't believe after all your mentalling you gave up the chance of a scan, there and then. I'd have snapped her hand off.

dtd is sex..... which we're not having!

Crisps are my pg weakness. Crisps are usually a rare treat, but i just want a bag ALL the time!!!

CollieandPup · 11/05/2011 11:53

Good luck minnie

LaraMi · 11/05/2011 11:52

Morning All

(minus the ears cos I just ate them).

Good luck to scanners today. Hope news is good.

Blackkat - how are your symptoms at the mo? (you're my closest thing to a twin).

Just came back from getting my bloods done. A "drop of blood" in each vial my arse...! What a load of bollox... looked like she'd taken the entire blood content of my left arm.

I am so unbelievably chicken... the EPU at St Georges is right next to the "blood part" of the hospital. As I am so super anxious, the mw asked me if I wanted to have another early scan done while I was there this AM. Of course, I chickened out of it. For some weird psychological reason, I'd rather wait till my 12 week scan next week for any bad news rather than getting the bad news reassurance now and then not fretting for a week. Makes no sense. And of course today am convinced that my boobs are back to "old size" and that all nausea etc has gone .

Just found out another woman in the office is pg - that makes 4 right now (excluding me of course cos I don't count yet). So of course, despite our educated discussions about the Poisson theory last week, I am now fretting that statistically, I am due to miscarry. .

Getting quite excited at the thought of a meet-up I have to say... MamaP's menu looks divine. On the subj of food, for some reason all I feel like eating at the mo is Pizza Express (La Reine with extra artichoke for those that care). On the way back from the hospital I REALLY fancied getting a chicken and mushroom Pukka pie for lunch (never, ever eat those - along with Pizza Exp). Thankfully (for waistline reasons) the supermarkets (a Tesco, Sainsburys and Coop) all conspired against me and none of them had them in stock. .

Just looking at the list above, it seems that there are some ladies that we don't seem to hear from any more. Does anyone know if they're ok? Maybe they've changed threads? Like the idea of a grads section - would be very encouraging for us freshers at the bottom.

Hadrian - try not to worry. Friday is very soon.

Collie - what's "dtd"?

Anyways - guess I'd better do some work and think about how I can replace Pukka pie craving

CollieandPup · 11/05/2011 11:52

Ohhhhhh Blackkat I like the sound of a northern meet up.... are there many of us????

Like the idea of a grads section too, that way when people move on we can still stalk them watch their progress. Grin

Wombat33 · 11/05/2011 11:45

Yes, good luck Mimmie and any other scanees today!

Blackkat that sounds okay to me. As long as you don't mind us hanging around here too!

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 10:45

Hello everyone,

Hoping that Minnie scan goes well today (if you're having one, I think you said you were)

Pleased to hear that Hadrian and Hairy have organised scans. It's a big step isn't it.

Velvet would love to come to mamap's to put faces to names, but I'm also oop north and not sure I'd be able to make it. Though agree with Lara that I bet the conversation probably won't reach the levels we do on here!!

Collieandpup perhaps we should organise a northern meet up??

Lara I love your stories of your day. That 20 minute stress infront of the mirror sounds familiar. I look like a bag lady at the moment, won't let myself buy any new clothes til I'm past 12 weeks! Grin [trying not to mental emoticon]

Cep how are you love??

Daisy best of luck for tomorrow.

Battery hope all ok with you??

Katherine, I think Izzy is right those odds sound good to me, Smile

to everyone else, sorry not to name check

Final thought: if some of you lovely ladies are graduating into the grads thread should we amend the list to show that, perhaps with a grads section?? It might then feel a little less daunting for those newly updiffed to join the bottom of such a long and distinguished list? Just a thought, feel free to shoot me down in flames?? Grin Grin

katherine2008 · 11/05/2011 09:53

velvet omg I am so sorry - I have slapped myself with a haddock.

[mortified emoticon]

Daisy, I agree with Hadrian - I had a terrible counsellor the first time (for panic attacks) and had to find someone else - I ended up with a man, which I wasn't expecting to work, but it did.

Hadrian my symptoms came and went like the clappers - please don't give up yet. And I was the queen of cramps. Will be fx for you on Friday.

izzy thanks for your words of wisdom. knowing my luck I would bet on a horse with those odds (I am rubbish at betting...) but I know what you mean. I need to relax and get on with telling people I am pg. I am looking like I ate all the pies now, so could do with having a reason for it!

sending hugs to everyone.

Morning everyone,

Hadrian I hope you?re wrong, symptoms really can come and go and I had all sorts of cramps and aches early on. Could be a good sign that bean is growing and things are moving about to make room. Have a look at mummyas old link that?s shows you how much your body is changing and could explain all the cramps. Glad you?ve got an early scan booked, god look for Friday.

How are Minnie and Hairy this morning?

Harassed how are you feeling sweet? 7 weeks today right? [stalker emoticon] how are you? I know I cant believe I?m 12+3. To be honest I have felt so much more relaxed since the scan last week, seeing little pup all healthy. I know that things can still go wrong, but I?m further on than last time and knowing that all looked ok has given me enough reassurance to stop me stressing for the past week.

Minnie and Pink I am a little relieved to hear that neither of you have dtd since your bfp. Me neither, to DHs disappointment. Deep down I know it can?t harm the baby but I just can?t help but worry about it. It?s the furthest thing from my mind.

Velvet I?d really love to be part of the meet up / field trip but am up north. When are you planning to go? Any other Northerners making the trip?

Did anyone watch the human body? I recorded it and watched it last night. Thought it was fascinating!!!

Waves to everyone and leaves a tray of hot Warburtons crumpets with lashings of Lurpack butter.

hadrian · 10/05/2011 23:25

So sorry to hear about the chemical pg jolls and really hope to see you here again soon. You help me remember that whatever happens we are all survivors and life does go on no matter how awful it gets at times.

hairy I know what you mean about attachment. I'm doing everything I can not to think of what's happening inside me as a baby, it's just a bunch of cells at the moment. I'm pretty sure it's all over anyway - my symptoms have completely vanished, I've got period-like back cramps and it all feels just like last time. I've booked a scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre on Friday which is the 13th would you believe doom doom doom. Can't face the EPU again.

daisy good luck on Thursday. I've had counselling before and your chemistry with the counsellor is important so if it doesn't feel right don't be afraid to ask to see someone else.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 10/05/2011 21:09

daisy good luck for Thursday x

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 10/05/2011 21:08

jolls I'm so sorry, really really hope you're wrong Sad x

hairy I'm sorry you're feeling so worried. I had a private scan at 8+3 and am glad I did; can't say I enjoyed it as I don't really like scans anymore, or even that it stopped me fretting, but I do think it helped. At least I knew that bean was doing ok at that time and I think if I hadn't been I would have gone insane by 12 weeks.

Katherine I also got really good odds for ds and dd but am preparing myself for higher risk this time (8 and 5 years later respectively). I think those figures look pretty good actually - I'm 35 and I know my background risk based solely on age is about 1:350, so I assume at 40 it's even higher - that means that your adjusted risk must be significantly lower than the average woman your (or my!) age. Without wishing to sound flippant, I find it helps to think of it as betting odds; you wouldn't bet on a horse with those odds...

Would love to go on velvet's field trip...

Daisybell1 · 10/05/2011 20:53

Sounds like a good plan Hairy, will have everything crossed for you in June.

Can anyone spare some chocolate and tissues on Thursday - have my first counselling appointment for the pre-natal depression, am knackered just thinking about it. Don't know whether to go with a list of issues/symptoms or whether to just wing it. Wasn't very taken with the counsellor on the phone - she sounded a bit flakey to me...

hairylights · 10/05/2011 20:47

Hi daisy yea, we decided today to have a private scan when we feel ready but not before 8 weeks.
