Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage? There is plenty of support, hand holding and problem-shared-problem-halved going on over here. All welcome to join in.

Morning all. Sorry for starting the pie chat yesterday, although now I've gone and said it again just before lunch, silly me!

Still having quite a lot of nausea but hardly any cramps for me this time and also not a lot more peeing going on this time, hope that's not a bad sign and just showing me that it can be really different each time you're preg.

Sorry it's your worrying time at the moment harrassed - I felt exactly the same at mine (which was 6.5wks). Only thing that sort of kept my mind of it was my friends hen do (although it didn't really, it just helped the hours to go a bit quicker). Do you have anything nice planned for the weekend? It's a double edge sword though cos I felt like all I wanted to do was sit still at home until I'd passed the tricky time.

bump I completely get the denial thing x

Very well remembered blackkat - I am indeed getting scanned again tomorrow. Not feeling too bad today but I know the nerves and crazy thoughts will kick in tonight :-(

Great news for pink from yesterday and wiw today. Good luck ninu

Right, best do some work now!

Bumpwanted · 12/05/2011 11:23

Morning ladies

Harassed so sorry you are feeling stressed hun. If its any consolation I have been having extremely painful cramps and when I want for a scan yesterday they didn't seem concerned at all given there was no bleeding. I am behind you at 5 weeks 3 days but from Tiggers and Katherines posts it sounds like it is not totally unusual for us to have major pains around the 5-8 week stage. I am a complete hypocrtie however and am obviously freaking out too and expecting everything to go wrong so I can completely understand how you are feeling. As someone on here said to me though - this time its a completely different egg and sperm and there is no reason why this time it shouldn't all go well.

Lara they gave me a scan piccy yesterday of my empty sac at 5 weeks (I am told this is normal but having a picture of a babyless womb isn't that much fun) and I refuse to even look at it as even seeing an empty sac makes it too real and I am still in denial about being pregnant at the moment. The only thing I will acknowledge is having had a BFP. For some reason in my head if I refuse to accept I am pregnant I think it will hurt me less if it all goes wrong...which is ridiculous!

Pink very exciting about the scan!!!!! Grin

Wombat congrats to you too that is brilliant! Grin

Hi to Izzy Cep Collie Blackat and everyone else

xx

LaraMi · 12/05/2011 10:52

Harassed - come on over for a big hug... Don't apologise you crazy lady. Remember, that's why we're all here - to freak out after our past horrid experiences. I think most (if not all) of us feel / have felt exactly the same as you. I am barely able to concentrate at work because all my mind is focused on is whether or not there is an alive bean inside me. My DH thinks I am insane for being so scared (we in fact started the day today with a lovely ole row about the issue) but I just can't relax. I even put away the little 6 week old pic of bean away three weeks ago on the basis that the pic is now "old" and "anything could've happened by now". My booking in and blood appointments felt like farces. I am kicking myself for not having had another scan yesterday but the truth is that I was too scared and I figured I'd rather go to the nuchal as planned and deal with any trauma then.

Sorry for long post - just want you to know that we all feel like that and if you look at the grads list in particular, you'll see that lots of lovely ladies reach that milestone irrespective of past experiences.

ps - as they say, pain can be good cos stuff's stretching. Maybe a scan, as Izzy suggests, might make you feel better.

pps - to make myself feel better I sometimes look in the Due in December thread in the antenatal section. It seems that hardly any of the ladies there have had MCs and their oblivion to it all is actually quite refreshing (I don't post on that thread though cos my cynicism / scepticism might ruin the tone!)

tiggersreturn · 12/05/2011 10:47

Pink congratulations! Mine is tomorrow and am rather nervous about it.

Harrassed I had really bad cramps with ds at about 5-8 weeks, incredibly painful ones. Obviously it was all fine. Try occupying yourself with lots of other things and see if this can be pushed to the back of your mind. At wk 7 I was (and am still) working full time, looking after ds, trying to buy a house that was going horribly wrong and stressing that we'd been given notice to be out of our house in 4 weeks. Not that it completely removed the worry but it did leave me plenty of other things to worry about too!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 12/05/2011 10:30

Pink I can't remember if I gave you a cheer for your scan yesterday but woo-hoo!!!!! What a milestone!! Grin

Great news from wiw too Grin

harassed sorry you're feeling so stressed - is there any chance you could book a scan (private if necessary) at 8 weeks? That might set your mind at rest a bit...

harassedinherpants · 12/05/2011 09:59

Hi girls, sorry I haven't been around much!

Wiw and Pink fab news Grin! So pleased for you both.

Nin good luck for later. Scariest thing ever isn't it?!

Apologies for being awol, just struggling with it all tbh. I've past the time of latest mc, but in Jan I had a mmc at 10+1 with baby measuring 7 weeks. I'm 7+1 today and just plain scared tbh. I've had loads of cramping over the last couple of days too. I've got booking in on Wednesday, but last time I went the baby was already dead. I don't know what I want........a scan every day would be good. I've still got lots of symptoms - exhausted, sore boobs, sickness - but just can't shake these feelings Sad.

LaraMi · 12/05/2011 09:25

Maybe updating the list will make me feel less moody?

Excellent news, WIW - so happy for you. Must be a tremendous relief. Take it easy in that heat though!

Good luck today, Ninu. Hope all goes well. I can fully relate to your fears, especially the first one. In fact, I am in a positive foul mood today as I am so scared for next week.

wombatinwaiting · 12/05/2011 08:41

Hi all - sorry for not posting for a while - been super busy at work traipsing around hot construction sites - not much fun I can tell you! Thanks for all the good luck wishes for the scan.

Great news on the scan pink - 20 weeks is amazing Grin

So, I'm deeeeeeeelighted to tell you that wombatbean is measuring spot on 12 weeks still, all the soft markers were exactly as they should be, nasal bone present, NT measurement was 1.6mm and combined with the bloods, gives me an incredible 1 in 4568 risk factor - we never thought it could be that low with our combined geriatric ages!! Grin - huge grins from us both - the midwife who talked us through the results was absolutely brilliant. Feeling so relieved and actually starting to believe it's real. CRL is 6.1cm which is on the high side but femur measurement was absolutely normal so we are expecting a tall chap but with short legs Grin - we don't know if been is a blue variety but suspect he may well be, especially with him being so naughty this morning and refusing to keep still for the sonographer Grin

Good luck with your scan ninunina

Blackkat · 12/05/2011 08:39

good luck today wiw and ninu

Ninunina · 12/05/2011 07:45

Oops, I'm on my phone and accidentally prrssed send.

I was saying, the boot space might be tight once baby comes along. I'm thinking of changing to a gulietta or an a3.

Thanks for the good scan wishes izzy. I'm excited but nervous. I'm scared for 2 reasons, 1. That my baby won't be alive or 2. That they'll do the nuchal scan, put me as high risk, then I will spend the rest of the 6 months miserable, because I won't test any further.

Velvetcu · 12/05/2011 07:38

Good luck scanners, quite a few coming up over the next couple of days!

We need more grads! I'm now at the bottom of 2 lists and I don't like it!!

Ninunina · 12/05/2011 07:33

Morning ladies,

Lots of funny stories about cars yesterday. They really made me giggle.

Sorry to hear about you crash cep. Hope ds is feeling better.

collie I have a 1 series and as much as I love it for most of the year, it does turn into a giant rollerskate in the snow. All rear wheel drives do. The boot is also quite small, so.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 12/05/2011 07:00

Good luck to ninu and wiw for scans today x

PinkFondantFancy · 11/05/2011 20:25

Good luck for your scan tomorrow WIW. Are you still about mummyabroad haven't seen you for a while

LaraMi · 11/05/2011 20:18

Haven't seen mummya for a day or so either...

DH delivered! He came in looking moody... Then went back outside to his vespa, reemerging with two perfect pukka pies!! (I am easily pleased!) We just scoffed them with mash, oodles of gravy and peas (to alleviate carb guilt).

Minnie - shame about scan but if it makes you feel better, you'll then be further along.

Feels like practically everyone on line this eve is a northerner.

Pink - awesome news on the scan. Do you know the flavour? So happy for you and great the time is flying. Hope you got home okay. I went on the tube on Mon and found it to be horrendous.

I will get back in driving groove. To be honest my DH put me off. He's uber aggressive on the road and loses his patience with me. Will build up slowly. Might even have a little go at it tomorrow.

Am in bed typing on bberry. So sad!

cep · 11/05/2011 19:24

wombatinwaiting haven't seen you for a few days hope you're ok.

katherine2008 · 11/05/2011 19:11

great news pink - I'm up for a grads thread if anyone fancies it too.

I have jacket potato for dinner - very jel of all pie talk.

daisy I love the idea of getting in the tractor if the car doesn't cut the mustard! I drive a Freelander - we're in very rural Essex, so it's almost allowed (!) but I was very smug when it snowed and I was the only one of my friends who could get around for days! I have a 10 year old step son, so two car seats and a 10 year old is going to be a squeeze, but I can't think what to replace it with...

minnie sorry you didn't get your scan - but fx for next week. I think there are two scanners tomorrow - Good Luck to all.

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 19:05

Pink so glad the scan went well Smile Smile

Collie that sounds like 4 of us up here at least for a meet up now!! Smile

PinkFondantFancy · 11/05/2011 18:58

bump sorry you're having a lot of pain, fingers crossed it doesn't mean anything sinister. Have they given you antibiotics in case it is a UTI?

Lara I am impressed at the scan turning-down-ness! Envy at the clubman too! Why don't you try a route in the evening when it's quiet with DH with you to build up your confidence and then once you're ok with it when it's quiet, try other times of day? LMAO at you scraping your and DH's cars Grin

I think a grads section is a fab idea. I just looked at the list and assumed someone had made a mistake putting me at 20 weeks! It's right but in my head I'm still about 8 weeks....

CEP sorry about your stressful shop, hope you're not too shaken up.

collie that is a fantastic story! Your DH sounds like a sweetheart.

izz good work on finding heartbeat!

OMG I need pie urgently! I'm on the train trying to control the urge to vom..... Can't decide if have washing machine stomach from being hungry or feeling sick IYSWIM. Had my repeat 20 week scan today and all is well Grin such a relief-trying v hard not to let Kelly Brook story freak me out...

Minnie74 · 11/05/2011 18:54

Blackkat Yes I'm up north too- we're in Leeds. Pretty much born and bred. Only left briefly to live in Lancaster for uni years ago. Even my brother's come back after many years saying he'd never live in Yorkshire again- the south being way cooler! He lives round the corner now! I'm glad cos he'll be a fab uncle.

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 18:45

minnie the bird do is supposed to be very lucky! Shame you have to wait til next week - but so pleased everything has calmed down.
Are you up north too then Minnie?

daisy the focus estate sounds like just the job, though the tractor sounds cool too!!

Minnie74 · 11/05/2011 18:41

I really want pie for my tea now! With chips and loads of gravy Envy

Collie love the crash story- hilarious Grin

bump hope the pains are a bit better

jollster sorry to hear about the CP hope you're back here soon

blackkat I love being a yorkshire girl too but I do like to be near a town!

Thanks for all the good thoughts on the scan but didn't manage to get one for this week-so much for scanning from 8 till 6 every day as on the website! Am going next Wed eve instead. It's a long wait but the bleeding has really slowed down. I'll be nearly 10 weeks then if it carries on ok which sounds good!

No morning sickness at all though which is freaking me out < whispers symptoms come and go, symptoms come and go while rocking in the corner>

Got pooed on by a pigeon today when I was playing cricket with the kids at work- went right down my cleavage! Lovely-I'm not exactly small chested but that was pretty good aiming! Grin Good luck though I'm told!

Daisybell1 · 11/05/2011 18:04

Oooh, cars and pie chat - now this is my scene Grin

I'm having to part with my beloved Fabia vRS as it won't take any baby crap, and did get stuck on the massive hill up to OH's last winter. To make matter's worse, when phoned him wailing that I was stuck and sliding, he said "I can't come and get you, I'm about to take the sheep to market" Grrr Angry

My parents are giving me their focus estate, but we also have a pickup for the farm. If all that fails, there's always the tractor! Grin

Blackkat · 11/05/2011 17:45

lara so sorry to hear about your Dad, Sad Sad, not an easy time for you I'm sure.

Yes I moved here 7 years ago, after 6 in London straight from Uni. I worked in tv and worked silly hours, went out til silly hours and drank too much, but loved every minute. DP at the time worked up here and my parents were retiring back here (I was born in Yorkshire) so the move was fairly straightforward, one of us needed to if we wanted to be serious. He's now DH so I guess it was the right move Grin
It makes me laugh when my friends come to visit and ask if I need them to bring anything from London in case I can't get it here!! Grin

Collie I had a 1 series, and loved it to bits. But, rear wheel in the snow and ice is not a nice experience, particularly where hills are involved. Are you in the Pennines? When I could get the car out I spent all winter driving round with bags of logs in the boot to weigh the back of the car down, and more often than not moved down roads sideways. DH who is a blue light driver, and consequently well trained, said it was a nightmare too. Also they're quite tiny in the back seat and the boot and with run flat tyres the drive is hard, you do feel every bump (I'm not sure if you can choose not to have runflats). When I got updiffed first time round we agreed we needed to get a 4wheel or front wheel drive just to be a bit safer here in the winter and enable me to be able to go out.(scolds self for even thinking 4wheel when I don't live on a farm and need to go off road) Just switched to a VW and it's a comfier drive and more economical, though it's a bit boring compared to the 1 series. [it's only a bloody car, stop chuntering emoticon]

Right enough Clarkson type chat...

Lara hope dh brings that pie home!!
