Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage? There is plenty of support, hand holding and problem-shared-problem-halved going on over here. All welcome to join in.

Hello brook! Congratulations on your BFP!! I hope you're going to pull up a beanbag and make yourself comfy. I'm on progesterone because I was having the MC investigated by the ARGC in London (it's an IVF clinic but they were happy to look into stuff for me), and then when I got the BFP they started to monitor the pregnancy. They put me on progesterone because they took bloods soon after the BFP and they were worried it was a bit low. The problem with going there is that there's about a month's wait for an initial consultation so they're probably not ideal for you. Having said that, before I went there, I saw a Bupa fertility specialist and got an appointment within a couple of days so I would have thought that you could phone your local private hospital and get an appointment pretty quickly. I hope this is helpful - feel free to message me if you need any more info, more than happy to tell you about who I've been to see and the medication I'm on etc.

lara I second owly, definitely normal.

velvet I felt the same. It still feels weird buying stuff and hard to squash the nagging voice in the back of my head that it's all pointless because no baby is coming later this year but I have been working really hard on being positive and concentrating on the very good probability that things are all going to work out fine.

owlbooty · 19/04/2011 13:42

Oi. Lara . That is PERFECTLY NORMAL you daft bat. Tis your uterus expanding. Grin

Hope our lovely scanning people are okay x

LaraMi · 19/04/2011 13:40

MummyA - I was hoping you'd come on line too... If you're not worrying then perhaps I shouldn't either. Maybe the twinges are just uterus "growing pains"? Although you're well ahead of me!

Wombat she said that if it was bad news they'd phone in about 10 days, if it is good news then it will come in the post in about 2 weeks. 10 days to two weeks of freak out time for me then.

brook hiya, can't answer you but congrats on your bfp, hope it goes well.

LaraMi · 19/04/2011 13:10

Hoping all goes well for you brook.

All - am panicking more now... was in a meeting just now and got a series of sharp twinges on the left side, quite low. Please tell me it's normal. I was utterly famished if that does or doesn't have any impact. Needing reassurance. Gah!

Blackkat · 19/04/2011 13:07

Lurking for news from Cep x

Collie2 · 19/04/2011 13:04

Lurky lurky for cep hope your ok sweet and scan all good xx

brokenbarrenbrook · 19/04/2011 12:16

Hello all, mind if I crash the thread and ask a quick question to pink? nicks and mummya suggested I ask.

Am currently 4+2 after getting my BFP on Sunday. This is the 5th time I've been pg in last two years. I'm trying to get Progesterone prescribed but it's proving more difficult than I anticipated so mummya suggested I ask you about a private GP appointment and getting a private prescription. Did you find it easy to get the prescription? Or the appointment?

Be grateful if you could give me any pointers etc!

Cheers ladies, as you were Smile

Just popping in to nick some eggy bread and wish cep and izz all the best today. Work has taken over my life and have just moved dd into a toddler bed so have had zero sleep for the last three nights.

Quickie about MS. Mine disappeared for 3 days at 9 weeks and I feared the worst and booked a scan. (my tiredness seemed to lift too and boobs felt very normal). As soon as I had the scan and saw Junior's hb the MS came back again - as did the other symptoms. It still comes and goes, but I assume it's hormones surging and then waning...

Sending love to everyone and growling at Dachs' horrible boss.

wombatinwaiting · 19/04/2011 11:34

well done collie on putting away the thermometer - we absolutely don't need any extra reasons to mental!

Who'd have thought toilet roll could cause so much anxiety.... Grin

Collie2 · 19/04/2011 11:11

Grin at Pinks peach loo roll!! And @ velvets nans streaky pink stuff! Me too!!!! Work have this horrid recyled paper that goes brown when its wet. Freaks me out on a daily basis!!

Oh velvet I'm sorry to hear how you are feeling although i think its completely understandable and how most/all of us on here feel. I think its especially worst being your first child (me too) bcs you've only had a failed pg before. I feel the same, just can't believe i'm pg again and that this will end well. But why shouldn;t it? I think what tunnocks said is so nice though, I can't wait to feel a kick! Smile

pink thanks for you lovely words. What you said about the pains and possibly bowel movements is a bit reassuring as it does feel a bit like that. I think you are right about the temping. I'm going to put it away now, there is really no need to be temping.

Daisybell1 · 19/04/2011 11:08

Velvet I know exactly where you're coming from, your feelings match mine completely. Everyone being so excited is frustrating, and you end up wanting to scream that no-one understands how you feel.

I also hoped i'd feel better after 12 weeks but like you, it didn't feel that signifiant. I'm now being pressurised to go fully public at 20 weeks but still don't feel comfortable doing that, esp as I still have no bond with the absent bump.

My very basic advice is to do what makes you feel calm, and less mentally, not what other people want you to do. Your mum will have the best intentions but being told to enjoy it won't help you relax.

I agree that some forward planning may help, altho I think you need to be careful. I can't face buying anything, or making decisions, but can cope with accepting offers of 2nd hand stuff (it helps I love pre-loved/antiques!). This may help you. I'm also thinking of asking the sonographer to write the sex down & pop it in an envelope in case I feel that knowing that will help me bond in the next few weeks.

Lots of hugs to you as I know how it can feel. If you're starting to feel very unhappy or disconnected, pls see your Dr or MW for a chat.

velvet - your lack of interest / excitement is completely understandable - I believe it's a self-defence mechanism. Do you think some forward planning would help you feel more of a connection? It has helped me a little although I still find it quite surreal that there is actually a little bean in there and that (apparently) it all ends in a baby. I'm desperate to fast forward a few weeks.....

wombatinwaiting · 19/04/2011 10:24

Had to Grin at peach toilet roll pink!

Hugs for lara - I find that if I keep myself as busy as I possibly can, then I mental less and then you're into the next day and can see your dates ticking over....

irene - can understand your concern re: sonographer. I think they have to concentrate pretty hard as they really want to get it accurate. Did they give you an indication of when you're likely to know? I was told that they would do the scan, do the bloods and then give you scan results same day and bloods a couple of days later.... it is private here too though.

Am v Angry at your boss dachs. She does know it's twins right?

collie - hope you're doing as ok as you can be and can get lots of restful sleep at your Scottish cottage.

How are izzy and cep doing....? Much hand-holding from over here x

Velvetcu · 19/04/2011 10:21

Irene good news that you have managed to lose a whole week of mentalling :)

Dachs your boss is an arse, definately speak to HR about it. I remember the weeks after I broke my coccyx, you never even know its there til you've damaged it and then you cant forget!

lol Pink at the loo roll - I'm at my nans in spain atm and she has white loo roll with a streaky pink pattern in it! What is she trying to do to me.

Good luck scanners

So we have started telling close family and friends because it's the magic time to do it and I can't hide my bump any longer. Everyone is really excited but I'm finding it difficult to feign interest tbh. I have no connection whatsoever with my bean even though I know in my head that it's there, I have pictures and a dvd of it kicking and moving but I still can't believe that everything is ok and I'm having a baby. I feel like everything that's happening to my body is just a cruel joke and I'm not going to get anything at then end of it. My mum and nan keep telling me I need to relax and be more positive because I've made it to 12 weeks so everything will be just fine but I know that isn't necessarily true! I'm so disconnected from it all and that is making me more miserable. I don't know what to do :(

PinkFondantFancy · 19/04/2011 10:06

Lara definitely not ridiculous, I've had exactly the same thoughts myself eg. Sitting on a White chair, what if I start bleeding....

Argh panic last night caused by peach toilet roll at the curry house-goes a disturbing pink colour when you wipe... Don't these people realise that we need White toilet paper to be able to check properly???? Confused anyway was all ok but definitely caused a heart in mouth moment....

LaraMi · 19/04/2011 09:55

Thanks Pink... I guess I'm constantly finding stuff to stress about. Today I even panicked in case I have a MC in the office today cos I'm wearing quite high heels (so can't run to a hospital) and a summary skirt with no tights (so blood could drip on office carpet). Ridiculous I know....

PinkFondantFancy · 19/04/2011 09:23

YRMOTB I like it better capitalised I think, although can't remember what it looked like before!!

Irene I had mine privately so probably not helpful, but I got results straight away. Try not to read too much into the serious face-the dr struggled to get all the readings for mine, because pinkbean only really wanted to show her its bum so I would have thought it would just be concentration. Did they not say at the time when you'd get the results? That's rubbish!!

Lara I was stressed about the same thing as my mum was very sick, and I haven't been really, but so far so good-I think it varies a lot from pregnancy to pregnancy and so doesnt mean doom. Also, stretching is good, and tight skirt sounds about right too. I was very bloated, it might be that?

YouRemindMeOfTheBabe · 19/04/2011 09:21

Mmm, I think I do too izz. In my mind it sounded more like the song, IYSWIM..

LaraMi · 19/04/2011 09:08

Morning All

Good luck today scanners - thinking of you.

My turn to stress. My sickness was shortlived - only about three days. Bearing in mind my mum and sis both had appalling sickness I am petrified mine is supposed to also be bad and therefore that something is wrong.

Plus I am sure I am supposed to have more symptoms.

BTW - is it normal to get a weird stretching sensation in my lower, lower stomach at night? I hope it's my uterus stretching. My skirt was super tight this AM. Hoping it's pg bloatedness and not just the fact I'm getting fat.

Sorry for me, me, me post but am so stressed!

IreneHeron · 19/04/2011 09:05

Fingers crossed for good scans today, Cep and Izz.

Dachs hopefully your boss's behaviour will come to bite her in the arse, especially if she's dragging about getting maternity cover. Don't let her bully you, I'm sure your doctor will back you up.

People who've had their nuchal, did you get a hint of the result straight away or did they say they had to send it in the post or ring you? I can't remember with DS, but I wasn't mentalling then. Am running the scan through my head and the radiographer's very serious expression, I'm hoping it was because bean was in a difficult position and she was concentrating rather than because she was concerned.
