Welcome to the mentalling Flori Scooby & Barbie There are plenty of us in here that have been in the same thought process/predicaments and general not knowing how to react! Everyone on here is great with lots of virtual hand holding and general great advice on everything from the Pregnancy post Miscarriage 10 Commandments (think they should be republished for newbies to Grinat!) to obsessive knicker checking/strange cramp mentalling/ and Biscuit Biscuit prodding!!!

Orange so glad you had good news at your 20 week scan. Hope some of the mentalling will calm down for you soon!

Tunnocks Yey for bouncing bean. They're certainly energetic. And when you see it looking so big on the screen you wander why you can't feel it more Envy

Thanks to all for the thoughts and hand holding. OnionBean was alive and certainly kicking when he/she made their first television appearance on screen this morning! It was a little wriggler! Certainly brought a few tears to my eyes when she said there was a great heartbeat! We got DS in after the all clear, and he was gobsmacked at what he saw. First off he said, "Is that where I was?" and when we said yes he replied, "How does it come out?" The lovely sonographer said she's leave that one for Mummy and Daddy to answer! He's been telling everyone he's going to be a big brother and wants a brother called Finlay (not my first choice though)! I have had my dates changed by 3 days, now 13+2 with EDD now 24/10/11. And my 20 week scan is 7/06/11 (if anyone is updating stats today. I myself cannot be trusted with the great responsibility!). So now we just have to wait for the results of the nuchal test. Was told if all ok I'd receive a letter in 2-3 weeks. If there was a problem, I'd hear by phone within 7 working days. So FX!!!

DoubleDiffedDachs · 20/04/2011 16:02

thursday even - i blame brian...

DoubleDiffedDachs · 20/04/2011 16:01

pink i have ordered cream doughnuts to come with my grocery shopping on Friday - it must be a pg thing :)

PinkFondantFancy · 20/04/2011 15:59

Just a quickie - mummya I left BBB a message on here yesterday but thinking about it I should have just private messaged her as the reply probably got buried. So anyway I have private messaged her now.

Fantastic news about all the good scans so far today!

I have just two words for you all..... CREAM DONUT. I've just had one and there is another calling me from the fridge.... I know it's wrong but I don't just want it, I actually neeeeeeed it.

dooscooby · 20/04/2011 15:59

Thanks so much to you all for sharing how you felt/feel. I felt really nervous about posting because that in itself is some acceptance and a bit of a declaration, but you've all been very welcoming and helpful already and it's made me feel so much less alone.

I've not been sleeping very well the past week, waking up 2am and feeling very sick and unable to get back to sleep. I don't mind so much apart from that I know that sleep deprivation contributes to my negative thinking and can make me feel very anxious generally, so it's a bit of a vicious cycle at the moment! Like one of the other posters (think it might have been banana? sorry if I got that wrong though), I've suffered from anxiety before so I'm keen to try and keep on the top of it as I don't want it to spread much wider than being worried about pregnancy things. I don't take any meds for it (I did for a while) but did have cbt and am think I need to do a bit of refreshment of some of the thinking strategies to challenge my worrying!

Unfortunately I don't know about anything about progesterone, sorry I can't help BBB, apart from send her my best wishes xx

Thanks again everyone x

katherine2008 · 20/04/2011 15:41

wish I could help BBB - I do think Pink offered advice earlier. sending fx to BBB and hoping it's just implantation xxx

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/04/2011 15:34

Oh wiw that's weird about our dates! I've just booked my NT scan too, 16 May so a few days after yours. The consultant yesterday said he would definitely advise it though seeing as he thinks the most likely cause to mc at the stage I did would be chromosomal abnormalities.

On a good note, I rang the mw today and told her what the consultant said and she has agreed to book me under consultant care, at least up to 20 weeks, so hopefully I'll definitely get my 16 wk scan etc. I know it won't make any difference to the outcome but at least I'll feel like we're doing everything we can to keep an eye on things.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 20/04/2011 15:31

mummya Sad. I can't help re the progesterone but have posted to bb in the common room.

barbie and other newbies - welcome to the mentalling!

orange and tt yay for great scans! Grin keeping fx for onions now...

velvet don't listen to anyone! I haven't eaten meat since I was 15 and it's never been a problem in pg, just got to watch your iron levels. Both my dcs are perfectly healthy and haven't caught the vegetarianism yet!!

owlbooty · 20/04/2011 15:18

Tis v.v.lovely to see you in here again, missus - I am still lurking Grin

Mainly because virtual cake keeps turning up.

Got lots of things crossed for BBB & hope some progesterone is forthcoming very soon indeed, tis stressful enough without having to fight for what you need, bloody idiot GP xxxxx

Collie2 · 20/04/2011 15:11

Afternoon everyone, what another b.e.a?utiful day! Smile

izzy yay for yesterdays great scan, so glad it went well and that your consultant was super understanding.

orange and tunnocks really pleased to hear your scans today went so well too. Its good to be hearing such good scan news, I hope it continues for all.

Grin @ blackkat I know I get worried too when I don?t ?hear? from certain people for a while. Although like you I won?t be telling DH that?.. he thinks I spend way to long on here as it is!!

banana I am so sorry to hear how you are feeling. I recall a couple of people off the thread feeling the same way over the past few weeks ? like mummya said for example. I feel so Sad for you feeling that way, but its not uncommon. I hope you start to feel calmer and more zen like soon ((hugs))

wiw well done in booking your 12 week scan and NT. The 12th really is not very long off!! That?s good news about getting your results on the same day, the wait on the NHS seems dreadfully long. I asked about the NT scan today and she (the mw) said the results would be sent to me in the post. V Confused

velvet I agree, and as you have just said you know you body and should do what?s best. I am already quite sick of being told what I can?t do and what I should be doing, much of which is contradictory and I question the basis of such advice. We can only do our best. At the end of the day, if I can?t stomach milk or fruit surely its better for me to eat what I can keep in, rather than spend the afternoon puking my guts up!

Pink it sounds like maybe you need a new phone Grin and laid that one to rest!! Also, I second the suggestion that you kick DH in the spare room, you need all the rest you can get! If your DH is anything like mine he could sleep hanging off a clothes line anyway!!

kat and lara my symptoms come and go too. Some days all I do is barf, some days its just the mornings, and the odd day I am free of ms all together. Most of my pains (still some aches though) have gone too.

Welcome to florizella scooby and barbie congratulations on your bfps. scooby like everyone else has said, I think mc changes being pg massively and al the emotions that go with it. I wish I could go back to being excited and naive, but sadly not. I think though, that if you think you can embrace your new pg and be excited and optimistic then you should. There is every reason to thing this one will go well, and worrying and stressing does no good really. I have tried to stop myself from getting excited and thinking about the future for fear of things going wrong, but as time passes, I do sometimes catch myself thinking about it without realising. I think in the end, whether I get excited or not, if the pg ends badly the pain and sadness will still be just the same ? so enjoy it as much as you can. Xx

hope you feeling ok sweet? How are you holding up?

I?m sorry you?re having this worry. Sorry I can?t be of any help but hoping someone replies soon. yes she did see page 10

Had my booking in apt today. I find them very uneventful and a bit of a let down. My mw is very nice and bubbly, but I find it annoying that she doesn?t acknowledge that this is my 2nd pg and my last one very recently ended in mc ? likes its not relevant. Just awaiting my 12 weeks scan date now!!

MummyAbroad · 20/04/2011 14:54

PLEASE DONT IGNORE THIS

Can someone please tell BrokenBarrenBrook where you got your private progesterone prescription from? She has suffered 4 mc's and her GP wont prescribe until a letter from St Mary's RMC arrives, but she has already started spotting and is very worried. Looks like her last message got lost in the rush. If you got a private prescription for progesterone, please can you tell her where from and how you went about getting it. Thanks ladies.

Glad to see you're doing so well Dachs. I think it was only one viable follicle in the end when I triggered so it's probably only the one in there. But I would be happy with either!

DoubleDiffedDachs · 20/04/2011 14:38

oooh - fudge cake and lemonade - welcome back :) Good luck with everything - hope this one sticks. My IVF twins appear to be sticky so here's hoping your BFP will stick around too. Maybe you could have twins as well :)

BarbiesBeaver · 20/04/2011 14:31

Hello, I wondered if I might be allowed to join you all for a bit of handholding? I joined you all very briefly in January after a successful IUI (I think I was due the same time as Dachs ?), but sadly lost it just before 6 weeks.

I had a previous MMC at 12 weeks last year. My most recent IUI has worked and am waiting to hear if I'll be allowed Heparin and when my 7 week scan will be. I'm taking my aspirin for now and just praying this one stays as I've been TTC for nearly three years now. Thanks! .

Blackkat · 20/04/2011 14:23

mm custard and crumble, you're spoiling us Dachs

cep · 20/04/2011 14:13

yay for good scan news orange and Tunnocks*

welcome flori and scooby

scooby i have been very scared until i passed all my bad dates from the mc. yesterday i was 11+3 which was when i got the bad news last time, i had a scan yesterday and it was good saw it do a huge bounce and now i can't not be excited. (which is also scaring me a little) i know when i get near the next scan date i'll get worried again though.

DoubleDiffedDachs · 20/04/2011 14:10

(oh and if you wait until the weekend there will be blackberry and apple crumble with home made custard - proper custard, not this Birds packet nonsense...)

DoubleDiffedDachs · 20/04/2011 14:07

Hello all

Thanks for all the feedback about my annoying boss :) She's still being really annoying but I'm trying to capture zen and enjoy the fact that the sun is out and that I'm finally warm enough to turn off the heating in the house :) (Plus today is her last day until after the second bank holiday weekend so I'll have a brief respite next week as I'm the only person from the department in the office)

Glad to hear all the good scan tidings. Looks like most of our beans are still nice and bouncing and happy.

I'm still waiting for my bump to appear but if I start eating chewits and chocolate fingers as advised I'm sure it will appear in no time Wink

Still no other symptoms other than feeling immensely tired and rubbish the whole time, but I'm beginning to believe it might be real now (especially after ordering the pram, which I still feel kind of guilty about - like it's way too early and the jinx pixies are sure to get wind of it). Although my doc has gone to Bali for two weeks so I need to make sure I have no crises for the next couple of weeks so maybe that's all it is!

scooby I think we all feel differently about our pregnancies but most of us have been rather worried and unable to relax - there is no right or wrong way to feel and it would be great to feel happy and relaxed but there is no problem with feeling scared and worried either. For me I'm still really stressed about all of it, which is irrational given that I've had lots of scans, the babies look fine and my consultant, who is lovely and knows how worried I am after my past history and is therefore seeing me every 2 - 3 weeks even though he usually sees people a lot less frequently, is not concerned about anything going wrong (despite that fact that I'm having twins) as it all looks perfectly fine and healthy but I still don't feel pregnant or connected to the (as yet non existent) bump. I'm hoping it will kick in more when I can feel them moving.

pink I agree with blackkat - it should be DH in the spare room not you! I kick DH out when his snoring gets too much for me :)

kat2008 Bottom is healing - but slowly! Looking forward to the weekend when I don't need to sit on my desk chair but can lounge on the sofa with DH waiting on me instead :)

orange yay for good scan. Sorry for old due date - mine was in March and even though it was all looking ok with the dachspups it was stilll v hard

kat2504 · 20/04/2011 12:53

Yeah I'm two days or so behind you Lara! The burping is sooo embarrassing! Last week I had a big dinner and a can of fizzy vimto and the result was a fifteen minute frog chorus!
I will have to distract myself by sorting the clothes and books out! Sounds like a good plan.

LaraMi · 20/04/2011 12:48

Kat - you're my pg twin and I feel exactly the same - no sickness, even my burping is subsiding and boobs don't seem half as bothersome. Yesterday I had twinges and was panicking, today nothing and am panicking for a different reason. You will have your scan and will be fine!

Blackkat · 20/04/2011 12:42

GrinGrin for miniorange and teacakebean so pleased to hear those scans went well. Smile

Onions FX for you later on.

Lara my sickness comes and goes, not this morning, but yesterday and the day before. However, I look grey and minging til about midday then seem to perk up. I'd rather not be sick TBH, I was on the brink of being hospitalised last time and so occasional pukiness is far preferable!
Trying to pluck up the courage to do 2 things, call the midwife and go on the list, but they both make it real so not ready yet.

Kat glad the house move went well - where are you in dates? I think you're nearabouts me and Lara? My symptoms seem to come and go, I think that's normal!

Pink think you've got things back to front - it's DH that should be in the spare roome Grin that's where mine is given he sounds like a warthog when he's asleep! Grin

Scooby I don't think there is a right answer, or a right thing to do. You're never going to be able to recapture the naivety of a first pregnancy, none of us will. Sad That doesn't mean that there's a right way to do this - just do what feels right for you at the moment.

Minnie hope all ok today?

((hugs to Banana and Daisy))

Big waves to everyone else

wombatinwaiting · 20/04/2011 12:29

Nice one on the house move kat - can you spend as much time as you can on getting the place sorted to distract you from the scan? I find distractions a huge help. Freaking out quite "normal" pre-scan - how many days in advance can we allow without getting the haddocks out ladies?! Sending hugs kat and try to remember that symptoms do come and go.....

wombatinwaiting · 20/04/2011 12:23

Yay for teacakebean - sounds like you've got a lively one in there Smile

scooby - you sound perfectly normal and not at all confused to me. I think that as much as it would be lovely to capture the joy and naivety of the first time around, it's nigh on impossible after m/c. I have had 2 and for reasons I still can't identify or explain, have been feeling far more positive with this one right from the start. I think partly it may be down to taking 1 x 400mg progesterone and 1 x 75mg asprin (which are both of an "it can't hurt" theory, although I know there is a bit of a debate around the asprin) and so feel as if I'm doing something to help my body with this one. I don't know if you now knowing the possible cause of the last two will help you with this one - I hope it does. Someone here or somewhere else said it really is about taking it a day at a time and suddenly a week will sneak up on you. Oh and congrats on your BFP!
