Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage? There is plenty of support, hand holding and problem-shared-problem-halved going on over here. All welcome to join in.

A quiet day on our dear old thread, everyone must be gearing up for wedding fever?! Myself unfortunately am typing this quicky from my sickbed. Have got a nasty D&V bug, seems to have gone through all the women of the family and left the men alone Envy

Just wanted to say great scan news everyone. Things are going well eh, and super quick like Ninunina said!

I got my nuchal results in the post today, only 8 days after the test! Came back low risk, so I is one happy relieved girl, although I can't muster up the energy to show it at the mo [cgrin]

Can't leave goodies today, they'd be infected [cblush]

Ninunina · 28/04/2011 06:48

Just quickly checking in to say congrats to all the scanners. It's especially heart warming to here dach's b/g news. You're going to have so much fun shopping for them.

Is it just me, or has time started to fly by now? My first few weeks went super slowly, but now its going really fast. It helps that I'm on holiday in France, they always go quickly. We told most of DH family and friends whilst we've been here. It's been impossible to hide since I had to avoid so many things: wine, champagne, foie gras, pate, most cheese, cured meats, chocolate moose...I've hardly been able to eat anything. It's much harder being pregnant in France.

wombatinwaiting · 28/04/2011 05:58

What a lot of lovely news from yesterday! So pleased for all the good scans - daisy, dachs, velvet and wombat - nothing nicer than a pink wombat in my expert opinion [cgrin]

Good going on the job mummya -that was quick!

Sorry if you're having to repeat info pink, but what's the calorie drip for? Hope you get a nice pic of pinkbean today.

Good luck too for blackkat scan today - hope you manage to get the external scan you want [csmile]

Wedding fever seems pretty full-on here too - I can't get enough of it though - I seem to have turned into a right royalist [cblush]

getawiggleon · 27/04/2011 22:11

Dachs What lovely news! I have 2 friends with b/g twins and in each set the boys are very protective over their sisters, I love watching them together! I saw these and thought of you!

tiggersreturn · 27/04/2011 20:51

Congratulations Dachs. I'm not planning on finding out but would like there to be at least one girl in there. Dh wants to find out so I've told him he has to find a way to get the sonographer to communicate it to him without me knowing. Any ideas?

I felt mine move for the first time last night which was very exciting. According to heart beats this morning they're both on the same side of stomach. It's going to get a bit squashed in there....

Hope everyone is as well as can be.

Velvetcu · 27/04/2011 20:31

oh dachs about the dog pills, are they big enough to weigh one then smash it to powder and just split the powder into 4 equal weights?

Blackkat · 27/04/2011 19:50

Daisy so pleased the scan went well. I'm sure they see all kinds of reactions at the hospital, so I shouldn't give it another thought. Sorry, it was me and pink going on about the waffles - had to send DH out this pm to get another box Blush

Dachs lovely news about the scan, it made me coo. I've got niece and nephew twins and my BF has one of each twins too. They are an absolute joy!

mummy glad the work seems achievable timewise - phew!

lara thanks for yummy cakes!

to everyone else, off to mental and try not to cry watch DIY SOS

Velvetcu · 27/04/2011 19:38

yay wombat daisy and dachs on lovely scans.

I forgot to say too that my flavour is meant to be blue :) although the doc said its only 80% certain until a bit later.

Well done mummya on your new job

I'm still dancing around on the tables and grinning like a loon for yrmotb

Am updating the list to take account of my seemingly supersized bean - I'm feeling quite smug that he is so big considering I'm off meat and cant possibly be getting enough protein to him!

Hello all Now own up you lot, who first mentioned these? Have had such cravings!

Woo hoo on MummyA's job news - sounds fab!

Dachs thats such lovely news, am welling up reading it, fantastic Grin

Scan was all fine despite blubbing in the car park before hand and afterwards. Still no connection with bean and was completely sullen throughout scan and MW appointment afterwards - they must think I am a right frigid cow Sad

Didn't ask about the sex at the time but now wish I had, esp on hearing everyone else's news today. The sonographer didn't make a note of it either - don't know if she'll be able to remember if I phone tomorrow?

OH is being a darling thank goodness, although he's clearly freaked out by my head.

Sorry for off-loading yet again, you lot are completely wonderful!

MummyAbroad · 27/04/2011 18:54

ooooh I want a tuna baguette nowSmile

irene sorry you are feeling sick, I know how miserable that feels, hope its over soon but in the meantime remember what will get you through it is to lower your standards with EVERYTHING and just rest as much as poss. Sorry about the wait for nuchal but at least you know slow news normally means good news.

Dach how exciting!! You can have double the fun shopping for pink stuff AND blue stuff!!!

pink enjoy your sneaky scan, I am sure everything is fine, you have come a long way!

lara lovely image of domestic bliss with DH in shed and you baking Smile Our version is DH watching football and me ordering pizza expressHmm

So it turns out the translation work is do-able even with DS running around me as I type. Its 2000-3000 words a day, I have just done 1500, in about 1.5 hours so its not full time. I should get faster too as I get used to all the repeat terminology. The tough bit is that the words keep coming, mon-fri and there are no holidays ever! re: maternity leave, even if I did qualify (i think you might have to have been working for more than a year maybe) I would feel too guilty to take it, it just seems a bit unfair and wrong. Feeling very guilty as it is that I havent told them. I think I will try and find a friend/contact who can take over for me when I have the baby and let the company know when I have got something set up.

hope you all have a lovely day and Wills and Kate fever is not too annoying - its taking over more and more channels over here now, hate to think how bad it is in the UK

much love xxxx

Has the gorgeous yrmotb taken up her rightful place on her much protected beanbag?! Congrat's again sweets, so glad you're with the gang....

On phone as work ultra busy!so, big waves to y'all hope everyone and beans are behaving Grin

DoubleDiffedDachs · 27/04/2011 18:48

pink yep - girl pup is the chilled one, boy pup is the consistent wriggler. Good luck tomorrow! :)

wombat Yay for wombybean! Grin

mummya Congrats on the job. Have a Wine (can't do a champagne emoticon so red wine will have to do!)

lara Sounds v domesticated!

PinkFondantFancy · 27/04/2011 18:09

dachs fantastic news!!! Am [cenvy] of you knowing what flavours - not sure I'm going to be able to find out thanks to bloody west herts NHS trust. I wonder if the girl pup is the one that's always been chilled out - IIRC there's always been one that bounces up and down like a loony and the other that is usually half asleep [cgrin]

mummya congratulations on the new job!

irene I went through a phase of eating tuna baguettes for breakfast at work - completely freaked my colleagues out.

I've got to go to the clinic for another 2000 calorie fat drip to keep my immune cells in line tomorrow, although the upside is that I should get a cheeky 30 second scan of pinkbean [cgrin] Like dachs I was struggling with having to wait to get confirmation that everything's still ok in there so the timing's good really.

lara invested in a shed??? V. weird. Having said that, DH and I looked at a house the other day which he is super keen for, mainly because it has a workshop in the garden. Whoop [cconfused] Mmmmm cake!

LaraMi · 27/04/2011 17:51

Dachs - your news was so heartwarming - almost made me weep!

Desperately fighting back the temptation to have another scan.... the next few weeks are going to drag.

MummyA - congrats on the job... As Izzy said, these things always work out. You probs just can't see now why it's "meant to be".

My chin is covered in three huge painful spots. Hoping that's a positive sign.

Loving being off work. DH just "invested" in a shed and has spent the entire afternoon inside it faffing around with gawd knows what. I however just spent the past two hours baking. Banana bread and cupcakes. [csmile]. .

IreneHeron · 27/04/2011 17:43

Just updating the list because I've got my next scan through - on our wedding anniversary. No call yet about a bad nuchal so if I get through tomorrow which will be 10 days without a phone call then I'll start to relax a bit.

Dachs what wonderful news, I'm delighted for you. Same sex twins would be fantastic but one of each is the cherry on the cake. I can't wait to find out the sex of mine, I secretly think it is a girl this time.

Feeling sick still, I thought it was going off a bit at 11 weeks but oh no - and am having tuna sandwich cravings. Am still unbelievably tired all the time, I'm sure I could sleep all day. Am having to make humongous efforts to do things with DS when he's not at nursery, I'd quite happily leave him in front of cbeebies if it was up to me, which of course wouldn't be fair to him. Can't wait to feel human again.

Oh wow congrats on some fab scans velvet wombat and dachs and how lovely to know what they are! (dh will never let me find out!) Grin. One of each too dachs - very well planned!

daisy keeping fx for good news from you too. Re finding out, why don't you ask the sonographer to write it down and put it in am envelope for you to look at later?

Congrats to harassed and welcome to the mentalling!

mummya well done on the job woo-hoo!!! I have no idea re mat leave/cover out there, but suggest you just play it by ear a bit, these things usually fall into place at the last minute Smile

cep · 27/04/2011 16:22

dach oh how lovely. congratulations to you both.

DoubleDiffedDachs · 27/04/2011 16:10

OK, I succumbed to the need for another scan today. Found out the flavour!

Looks like we're having one of each [cgrin]

DH grumpy because he wasn't there, but happy because he wanted one of each.

The girl was proving difficult and refused to wriggle into a decent position to see her, and the boy was wriggling all over the place but kept his legs open so we could tell what he was Grin

cep · 27/04/2011 15:33

wombat congratulations.

mummya congrats on the job. probably, but we're not at the stage you have to declare it yet, or is it different over there? how much work would it be? is it allday?

MummyAbroad · 27/04/2011 13:49

hi ladies,

congrats wombatGrin and welcome harrassed

I got a new job yesterday! Its translating working from home, I am really pleased - and starting today (!!) BUT I am obviously in deep denial about being pregnant - I didnt mention it to my employer at all!! I know that I wouldnt be eligible for maternity leave - nor expect it - I just have some vague idea that I can find someone to job share with for a few months and then pick it up again later - am I being really crazy?? [chmm]

OP posts:
PinkFondantFancy · 27/04/2011 12:48

Ooooh wombie I missed your news - congratulations!

daisy you could ask the sonographer to tell you at the end, after you've sent OH out of the room? My SIL is a sonographer and she doesn't tell people the sex until the end of the scan anyway.

Daisybell1 · 27/04/2011 12:38

Woo hoo for Wombatbean

Blackkat I may be weird but I prefer dildo-cam, but then for me an external scan is agony trying to get my bladder to co-operate Grin. As the others have suggested, I'd go prepped for an external scan, and then they at least have to try, and then accept the internal if they have to do it.

FX for you!!!!!!

Waves to everyone else - thanks for the reassurance, I'll be how I want to be and ignore everyone else. A quick update on the 'finding out the sex' debate: OH is still reluctant to know the sex today, and I'm not sure how we could work it so that I know and he doesn't, so we're not going to officially find out, but I'll be peering at the screen intently [cgrin]

PinkFondantFancy · 27/04/2011 12:25

Hey blackkat I'd go with a full bladder in case they try external scan first - if they want to do internal they'll just send you to the loo. All my scans up to 12 weeks were internal, I think they get a better view that way. I agree with katherine though, probably depends on the particular scanner...

I have been shamed into being healthy by reading the Patrick Holford nutrition in pregnancy book - am in the process of making watercress soup as we speak...... Makes a change from the potato waffles I suppose. I have to say he's a bit militant about things though......

LaraMi · 27/04/2011 12:07

Yeyyy - all this activity and all these newbies that might be joining me at the bottom end of the list...

Big yeyyy too to Blackkat for the scan... trust me, the fanjocam is the last thing you'll be thinking about... you'll just be holding your breath waiting for her to give you news on bean.

Congrats to Wombat33....

Big hugs and lots of fondant fancies to everyone else xx
