Clearblue Fertility Monitor Support Group Buddies Vol 6!!

Hi everyone - I hope you don't mind me joining you but I need some advice. We've been using the CBFM too and it helped us conceive our DS. Now we've recently decided to ttc baby no. 2 and have just had a weird thing happen. My DS took nearly a year in the making as I have poly-cystic ovaries and was originally told I couldn't conceive without medical help. With that in mind, we don't expect no. 2 to come along very quickly either. With our DS we eventually used the CBFM and within two cycles of using it, became pregnant. We started using the CBFM at the beginning of my current cycle and now I am five days before my period should start (if it decides to be consistent and there's NO telling with mine). However, I've had a few symptoms that I recognise and decided to do a pregnancy test last night (I have no will power to wait). We worked out that if I was pregnant, I'd probably be around a fortnight gone. The test came up with the control line in dark pink and the test line came up after about 30 seconds in faint pink (but definitely there). I was almost in tears with happiness as it was very visible. However after about five minutes the line disappeared completely. WTF?? Anyone else had this happen to them? So disappointed (again - irrationally as I know this is the first month of trying, it's just that our hopes were raised then dashed within minutes). Boo

We have had some tests done and i have pcos. DH sperm 'fine' according to Drs receptionist! We have been referred to fertility clinic, appt is 21st oct.

I am 2dpo according to monitor. This is only 3rd cycle we have had a peak as only 3 cycles in 16 months!!! Mental!

I'm new to the group and hope I'm as successful as some of the other members in conceiving.

We've been married for 4 years (have been TTGP for those 4 years) without any success. I think I must be calculating my ovulation wrong. Once I get the monitor it will be interesting to see when I ovulate.

@HopingSoon- You and I have the exact same story! I've got PCOS & DH has Low Sperm Count. Today I ordered the CBFM since I've read so many great reviews on it so I'm hopeful that it will work for us.

I had a drs appt too yesterday so asked more about the SA, he told me DH has 3.75 million which is classed as very very low :( dr also told me that I have PCOS :(
So between the two of us we're not the most fertile couple. We need to make an appt to see the dr together now to discuss our options.
DH is now on well man conception vitamin, don't know if anyone has tried this?? I bought it because it has all the recommended vits in it so giving that a try. We don't drink much caffeine or alcohol so that's ok and I told him no more hot baths!! (don't smoke either) also dr told him to put his bits in cold water twice a day!!
Dr did say yest that will prob do another SA to get an average so we'll see what happens there.

Anyway not the best week we've had hearing all that, which means that the fact I fell in august only to MC was a miracle anyway.

Out tonight with my two friends who are heavily pregnant and don't feel like sharing this information yet as we're both still trying to digest it.

I'm so glad I've found this forum as it feels like I can gets tgese things off my chest without my DH knowing as we've decided to keep all this to ourselves till we know more

Oh, and the usual no smoking, cut back on drinking, cut back on caffeine, no tight boxers, no hot baths, no cycling is all recommended ( but not all of it proven)

Hoping - sounds odd to measure in % rather than numbers so may be worth asking for a copy of results so you know what you are dealing with. Fwiw we had just ok count but poor morphology and mobility. After two months on vits morphology up by 1%, count tripled and mobility up by a few %. we both use Marilyn glenville vits as read her book and she seems to have done a lot of research on how much of each vit you need. It does work out expensive as he will need the men's fertility one, plus separate omega 3 and 6 and vit c, but I do think they've helped his results. We get them from amazon as slightly cheaper.

Your dh should not feel worried or like less of a man as it is common and there are sometimes short term reasons eg health, stress, diet so one test is not the end as can be improved and they need to make sure this is not just a one off bad result, which can also happen.

hoping we were diagnosed with male infertility, ttc for 36 months, had failed ICSI and eventually got our natural bfp in July.... as sperm is totally replaced every 3 months it would help if your dh could have a re-test in 3 months time. My dh had 4 in the end, each time numbers crept up!! Our ivf clinic recommeded a higher dose vitamin C (1000mg I think) and Menevit (if you google menevit you will see you have to send off for it from Australia but it is only about £45 inc postage for 3 months... or see the ingredients and buy it all separately (it is the lycopene, garlic, zinc etc that are important). I think Zita West's men's vitamins are meant to be good also. Might be worth a try for 3 months with a re-test to see if things are improving? xx

My DH went to drs today as he has had his sperm checked and was told he has a low sperm count....3% when it should be 9%, not sure what this means exactly as only ever heard of it being measured in million per ml.
And he also has a high mortality rate.
It really hit him hard as he feels it doesn't mean he is a 'real man'. I said I'm sure it is more common than he realises but that doesn't help. I'm taking a trip to get him some vitamin e as the doctor recommended that but does anyone have any advise on how to improve his sperm??

lucylucy - welcome along - we do have stats somewhere, but we are a bit less formal these days. The CBFM certainly does help with the peace of mind!

Hi All - I made last minute excuses not to go to the baby shower, feel really bad about it as she is a good friend, and I am her boss, I'm sure it was more of a big deal to me than her, just could not face it!

I have already heard about yet another pregnancy at work - there are so few females at work that aren't pregnant or just back from maternity and not a one of them have I confided in. There is one girl that has been trying quite publicly for years and everyone seems to pity her - I am not that person!

Am almost out of the gloom on day 2 - 2 days of spotting and the most horrendous PMS makes my AF seem to go on forever!

Am looking forward with positivity that this just could be the month for us. I have never even had the faintest whiff of a bfp - have been without contraception for 7 years......... Think I'm going to call clinic tomorrow to see if I can get the immune tests done. Am also considering a course of acupuncture - would love to be updiffed by christmas!!

Hi everyone! Mind if I join in?
Its my first month of using the clearblue fertility monitor and third month of charting following an ectopic the begining of July. Im hoping this month is the one (arent we all??!) as the monitor showed all the right things and my temps tied in nicely too. Last month Im convinced I didnt ovulate, so thought the monitor would be useful for piece of mind at least. Fingers crossed.
hoping I know how you feel. One of my friends at work found out she was pregnant exactly the same time as me and is actually due the same day I would have been. I feel sad watching her get bigger but never let on to anyone of course. Im still really excited for her, it just tugs on the heart strings.

loup not sure if this is normal but I went from low to peak from one day to the next. It stayed for two days, then went to two bars for a day before being low every day since. It was quite a surprise! Im still getting to grips with it. Im also getting the second pregancy round with my friends.

hoping welcome, and I so sorry to hear about your MC, same thing has happened to me (twice!!) Don't underestimate how awful you may feel, even weeks down the line. The first one affected me so badly I was in tears on and off for about a month and actually had to go and see someone about it, I just could not cope with anyone telling me they were pregnant (although strangely actual babies or big bumps don't bother me!)

loup I had that one month but now seem to get about 5 days of highs befroe the peak. It could just be that your oestrogen is rising early (I think that is what the high detects).

mini H and sbc I know what you mean, I have felt like that at times, strangely positive at the moment but I am sure it won;t last!

Am with you ladies on the throwing toys out of the pram (no pun!), I'm just waiting for the next round of work babies and my friends (who I am genuinely happy for) announcing their second pregnancies

Day 9 for me, first day POAS and high again, so frustrating. Does anyone get highs for 9-15 days every month.....? I'm sure there must be somthing wrong with me.......

SBC - I second wanting to lie on the floor and cry.
For some reason I've got delayed pms this month - either that or I'm just a grumpy tearful cow for no reason! Was about ready to thump someone at work yesterday, and can't help but think that I shouldn't be in work, I should be on maternity leave and then I wouldn't have to deal with all the bs - but that's not exactly a helpful way of thinking, I know, it just feels like it's got to be our turn soon. Doesn't help girl at work has just started ttc and feels the need to tell me everything, including how quickly she fell, and then lost it again after four days, and I know that it'll be a matter of minutes before she falls pg again and then toddies off on maternity leave - arrrgh!

AF on her way, got the pre-day one spotting, pain and urge to throttle! Top this off with going to a baby shower this evening, which I stupidly haven't made any excuses not to go to - am really not in the mood for it at all. Am just going out to buy a delightful baby gift - really don't want to be going anywhere near baby shops, think I may fall on the floor and cry.

hoping that's one of the brilliant things about mumsnet, you can just get it off your chest in a way that can be hard in RL. Sorry about your MC, I can't imagine how that feels. There are lots of people on here though that have experience and will share your feelings. It is so ironic that after many years of contraception it suddenly proves harder than expected to get pg. And I totally get how you feel surrounded by pregnant people, don't feel bad about being jealous, it's not like you're planning to take their babies away, it's just you'd love to be in the position that they are. It's understandable. And I feel the same!

Hi, I'm new to this, never posted on one of these.

Started using my CBFM on Wednesday so only first month.
We got married in March this year and have been trying since then. Having got the first BFP in August we suffered an early MC after just four days. I found it so hard to get over. I know we'd only known for a few days but we want a baby so much that it really hit us hard.

But what we did think was that at least we can concieve....trying to look on the positive side.

I've been reading through all the posts on this thread today and find it amazing what we have to go through in our need to have children, especially when we spend so many years fretting and doing everything not to get pregnant! I really never knew it would be this hard :(

I find it really hard to talk to anyone about it because so many of my close friends are expecting at the moment, even the girl I share an office with. I find myself feeling jealous and then feeling bad for feeling jealous!

Sorry to go on but I just needed to 'get it off my chest' and don't feel that I can do that with my loved ones.

Anyway, thinking positive thoughts now using teh CBFM!! xx

Sorry af got you sprinkles i'm starting to lose faith in the cbfm although even if it got my peaks wrong we dtd every day except two so I have no idea why it still didn't work....

AF got me tuesday just as I was getting excited about the possibility of a BFP.

My CBFM Has started flashing up the little battery sign. Can I just take the battery out mid-cycle or will it affect it?

af came. really pissed off, not that af came but that I allowed the machine to get my hopes up. Surely it should know my cycle is about 34 days, and not be flashing M at me on day 32. Is this a cynical ploy to get me to spend more money, this time on their pg tests? And what else is it cocking up? Peaks? Highs? FFS. So, in the name of -getting more obsessed- greater accuracy, I'm going to start charting too. Need to buy an BBT thermometer. Any recommendations? Going to start a new thread for more recommendations in conception too, so no need to post twice!
On the up side, I'm going to get pissed, take nurafen for my period pains and stick some GTN ointment up my arse for the fissure that I've been putting metanium on. Nice.

Congratulations Mrs Tipple! Am pleased to hear you are getting on well with married life and have a good gp. Do stay with us to keep us updated, we seem to have stopped doing stats etc so much, so more of support group than obsessed about day of the cbfm month!

Sorry to hear about the chemical pg Far hope you are ok.

Seeing as there are a few on here who are having tests at the moment I thought I would update on my day today. I've decided to step right back from 'TTC' and just let the whole process happen as I can't do anything about it now but I went to the GP this morning as we have officially been off the pill for two years and actively trying to conceive for 13 months.

The GP was actually very nice, I've read so many horror stories of people being spoken down to or told that basically nothing will be done etc I was really worried but he was really nice and said that very first off, before anything, he would get DH to get a sperm test. DH was supposed to come with me but had problems with work so couldn't so he will have to go in separately. I thought that way was a bit odd because I always hear about women having bloods etc done first but he said that he preferred to do it the other way round as tests for women are so much more invasive so it avoids me being put through bloods/scans etc if it then turns out to be DH. We then went through my cycles, whether I knew how to spot ovulation and my 'symptoms' in terms of ovulating and periods etc and he seemed reasonably convinced that everything was working as it should in that respect which is good. He then said, 'really, you mustn't worry, so many women become stressed very quickly and there really is nothing wrong, it just takes some a while longer than others' then finished with 'don't worry, you WILL have a baby' and smiled. And that was pretty much it. Came out feeling very positive and understood/calmed/reassured by it all. He wasn't rude or patronising or off in anyway and that really was what I was expecting having heard so many horror stories as I say. GP did also say that they are erring towards asking people to wait 2 years these days before tests as they find starting tests usually ends up in people getting pregnant during the whole process and he pointed out that at 28 I am still plenty young enough not to need to be worried. DH is not so pleased that he has to go first :D but it's the easiest thing to rule out so that's fair enough.

So that's me, in other news, married life is pretty cool. Still finding getting used to my new name weird. I probably shouldn't stay on this thread as I have decided not to use sticks/CBFM any more but will keep you updated on the tests and stuff as it may be useful for someone else who googles in the future.
