I am about to start cycle 5 and wondered if there were any fellow sex pests out there who wanted to join me in regular swi, not so regular poas and plenty of Wine, Biscuit, Brew and [chocolate emoticon].

Busy marking exams so a bit swamped at the mo, still got sore boobs but have also had period cramps, no spotting yet but we shall see!!!

Glad you have a plan Trope

hugs to everyone!!!!

Hi everyone!! Sorry I've not been back for a while (or maybe I should be sorry I'm back... Grin), things have been busy. We're moving house soon so have had all the fun that has to offer. We're renting (booo!) and currently waiting to hear back from the agents to see if we've got a lovely place down on the sea front or not. FX!
Had my first appointment with my midwife on wednesday which was lovely all apart from the blood test nightmare I get everytime - my veins are very deep so nobody has managed to get blood from them before, but of course they all insist on trying and I end up not being able to bend my arms for two days! Hmm This midwife is lovely though, she tried once and then booked me in to see the phlebotomist(sp?) so they can take it from my hand - ouch!
Horrible morning all day sickness though (there's always something ay?)

So, apart from the whining (sorry!) everything's great Smile

So excited about the Father's Day tests! How lovely. Good luck to you all, I'll be thinking of you and checking back expecting lots of good news!

Trope I'm so happy you and DP have been able to decide to carry on TTC! Equally Angry that the hospital have messed you around, just when you'd managed to get a good consultant too!

Good luck everyone!!

trope · 10/06/2011 20:10

carlita Yay! Good luck to you too! 29th / fathers day testing - I hadn't realised it was fathers day I'd be testing - that is SO cool. Now I really really want a BFP for DP!!

Lugsie Not sad at all, am imagining the exact same thing for my DP! Would be so amazing!! Good luck for you too!

Ooh, we're getting a father's day testing gang together! So exciting! Can we get matching hair slides and nailpolish and be a cool girl gang? Admittedly, with all this SWI we're all going to have to be the slutty one, but that's OK - they have more fun anyways! (I'm getting real life and "Grease" confused again aren't I? ;) and I don't even like musicals! but what you see aged 11 really stays with you eh!)

weimy - hoping you still have sore boobs, have spent the day constantly dashing to the loo for a wee and are suffering from an overwhelming feeling of fatigue! ;)

Lugsie · 10/06/2011 16:25

Afternoon all, welcome newbies! Smile

Carlita I think I'll join you and trope testing on Father's Day - thats my CD30, which is how long my cycles usually are, but my iphone app says I'm going to have a 32 day cycle this month with af due on the 22nd (was slightly late last month so its thrown my average off!) Like you say, it'd be so nice to get a BFP on Father's Day (I'm already imagining giving the positive test to DH as a Father's Day gift but then I'm sad like that Blush)

FX weimy - any more symptoms to report?

Carlitawantsababy · 10/06/2011 13:41

Right. Major issue with app...have composed two messages which have failed to post..the app does not save them, they disappear so will have to copy each message before attempting to post Angry

Here goes again:

trope that's great news! As long as you have a plan for those things you can predict that's as prepared as you can be! I'm also testing on CD29, Sunday 19th June (father's day, wouldn't that be nice?) so good luck to both of us! I have no symptoms whatsoever though! Wish I was peeing all the time! (or had sore boobies like Weimy)!

Glad the abbreviations helped!

Jamaican maybe you should join Trope and I testing on CD 29, that way you will be playing to your shortest cycle. As your cycle varies so much if BFN you could then test every day every week until you get a BFP (or AF) though positive thoughts for a lovely BFP!

How are our lovely graduates doing? Let us know how it is on the other side! :)

trope · 10/06/2011 08:56

Hi all, back from some time away thinking things through with DP (or rather, some time away talking about anything but how risky this is all getting...) After ignoring the issue, carrying on having sex without protection and totally burying our heads in the sand we eventually had a talk and decided that neither of us can face stopping after all this time, so for now we're still TTC!

We've made some decisions about how we're going to handle things if I do end up with pre-eclampsia, which hospital we want to use, what we want to do if I develop it very early on (20+ weeks onwards it can start) etc which makes me feel more comfortable with the prospect of sprogging.. Also decided to probably try and stay on my immunosuppressant meds for longer as they should help reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia (although I don't currently have a consultant for my arthritis as the hospital have totally stuffed up with mine leaving, am putting in a formal complaint about it all next week).

TBH it all feels completely unreal, but I think i'm happy to still be trying.

Rather brilliantly my cycle has gone loopy this month; active arthritis and endless colds have messed my temp chart right up, my CM isn't like it usually is and I didn't get the usual ovulation pains... However, FF has finally (as of today) settled on CD15 as my ovulation date (although I think it could really be anywhere from CD11 based on other symptoms) and I am currently CD20 (5DPO). I'm trying very very hard to not symptom spot (but I am peeing all the bloody time!) and just relax and not stress about it all. We SWId twice near CD15 so it's possible this month, despite us not really trying/thinking about when we did it, just did it when we actually wanted to!! Am due to test on CD29 (a week sunday).

One thing I remembered from my appt with the obstetrician that I wanted to share, was that she wanted us to be SWIing every 2-3 days throughout the cycle, not just around ovulation. Apparently that gives you the best odds; i'd heard the 2-3days figure before, but not in the context of all month, just around ovulation.

Anyways - as DP is out the house for 12+ hours a day Mon-Fri we're going to have to start booking lunchtimes in hotel rooms in london if we want to manage that!! (He's waaaaay too tired most weeknights and I can't say I blame him!)

Weimy I am keeping everything crossed for you - really hope that this is your month! Sore boobs sounds promising - got to be the only time in our lives when we're happy to have sore boobs eh!! :)

Carlitawantsababy · 10/06/2011 08:39

Trying to Concorde baby number 1! Ha! I love iPhone autocorrect at times!
So, just got the free mumsnet app! Grin it's amazing! Any iphone users get it now! It is a lot easier to use, probably also means I'll be on here twice as much though!
Jamaican I didn't see your post before (as was using web version! Wink) you managed your stats just fine without me!

stuffthenonsense · 10/06/2011 04:34

Carlita, thanks for writing out all those abbreviations. It makes more sense to me now.

weimy · 09/06/2011 22:09

Happy what time of day do you test? best to test in the afternoon apparently.

Carlitawantsababy · 09/06/2011 18:10

Hiya Jamaican stats explained:
Carlitawantsababy (29) TTC#1 Cycle 2 UCL 30 days AF due 20th June
Name: carlitawantsababy
Age (29)
Trying to Concorde baby number 1: TTC#1
How many cycles you have been trying to conceive for: Cycle 2
Usual cycle length: UCL 30 days, you asked the importance of this, as far as I know it just helps others to understand your situation, some people (like you) have very unpredictable and/or very long cycles so symptom spotting for them is a whole different ball game. People may ask advice and refer to their long or crazy cycle and it gives others the opportunity to check the specifics. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
Period due: AF due 20th June

Acronyms and abbreviations then:
AF - aunt flo, period
ERTD - evil red tide of doom, period
The witch - period
OV - ovulate
PG - pregnant (yes please!)
DPO - days past ovulation
SWI - shagging with intent (ttc)
BD - baby dance (ttc)
DD, DS, DC, DP, DH - dear daughter, son, children, partner, husband
CD - cycle day. ie. I'm on CD 20 of a 30 day cycle. CD 1 is the day you start your period.
POAS - piss/ pee on a stick, do a pregnancy test (or ov test but the person will normally specify)
MC, MMC - miscarriage or missed miscarriage
BFN - big fat negative, negative pregnancy test result
BFP - big fat positive, what each of us will have on this thread very very soon!

Let me know if there's anything I've missed! :)

happystressedmum · 09/06/2011 16:07

Welcome to all the new folk! Smile weimy 6dpo?any symptoms or are you trying not to spot them? fx!

Currently only on cd11 here so pretty boring. Another pregnancy announced at work today, was pretty hard to keep my smile going when I was really Envy

Have become a bit obsessed with finding ways to possibly increase fertility this month, both DP and I are paranoid something will be wrong really excited so unfortunately he is encouraging this lol! So far I have bought some conceive plus and have started eating tapioca (as apparently cassava is fantastic for this and encourages hyperovulation increasing chances of twins! I am a twin so would be over the moon if I do have twins!) Have also just ordered some red clover drops as read this is the fertility herb!

Hopefully there is truth in some of the above!

stuffthenonsense · 08/06/2011 10:43

hello, can i join you please? DH and I had 'the conversation' yesterday and are now officially 'not trying to avoid pregnancy', 2nd marriage for us (other near adult DCs in both) and our DD had her first birthday yesterday.
have actually forgotten what to do to maximise chances so any advice warmly received.

babybrain3 · 07/06/2011 22:19

Welcome newbies!!!! Rosie you pulled you're coil out yourself???? Oh my, you're brave....

Well we have been away for half term, managed a couple of sessions, hopefully at the right time... Just a waiting game now...

weimy · 07/06/2011 21:52

Welcome jamaican & rosie

happy when are you testing? It is possible to miss it depending on when you test and when you ov. How long are your cycles?

Hope you are all well, 6dpo here :)

BraveGirl · 07/06/2011 20:11

No sign of AF and it's DS's 1st birthday tomorrow. Half of me thinks it would be a great day for a +ve test result, but the other half thinks it wouldn't like the disappointment. WWYD?
No sign of AF...this cycle is now at 38 days. It was my first period since DS, so perhaps my body will just take a while getting back in the swing.
Welcome Jamaican and Rosie - i'm terrible with acronyms, but AF = aunt flo (period). Sorry happystressedmum - I really don't know and that's not much help!

happystressedmum · 07/06/2011 11:42

Hi can anyone help (and feel a tad niave about this) but I have been doing OV sticks and am now on day 18 but no surge detected. However I did have OV pains on days 16 and 17. Has anyone had something similar? Does this mean I did not ovulate this month as rather confusing. Have been ttc for a year and am 39 and have endometriosis. Thanks

JamaicanSunshine · 06/06/2011 22:06

hi and thanks carlita

yes an explanation would be nice because sometimes the acronyms do get me a bit confused.
stats? yes sure. Blush please explain also

and i did notice most ppl added their average cycle lengths and i dont know how important that is so......
this varies alot. between 40-50 days sometimes (rare) up to 60.

RosyRosie · 06/06/2011 21:39

I'll settle in here after getting chucked off the february bus...

We're trying for number 1 having MC'd at 11wks last year. Just started last month, pulled my coil out on the 5th May and period started 22nd. SWI all the way down the line (sex drive much better now the coil's gone). Yesterday was feeling profoundly tired, hungry and nauseous in waves - very pregnantish - but thinking 'how on earth?' as the period was a light and short one for me...

but nah, think I was just tired :p

Carlitawantsababy · 06/06/2011 21:25

Hi Jamaican! welcome! We are a very friendly and equally obsessed lot so you will get plenty of support here!

Do you want to add your stats to the list? Are you new to mn, do you need any of the acronyms/stats explained?

:)

JamaicanSunshine · 06/06/2011 20:02

hi everybody,
i am trying for my first baby and i hope i can join in here
Well my doc did not explain anything about clomid, i had to google it. Envy
i mean seriously it costs alot with all the tests and stuff but i sucked it up and went thru with it. Now after finally prescribing clomid 50 mg i am on my 16th day of the cycle......the hardest part is the waiting....Hmm well i really do hope it works even tho it is the first time because sad to say if it doesn't i think i might just quit because i have no support from family and the doctors are like blah....... my beau is being relly sweet thru it all but is getting really tired from my constant wanting to tango because he is in the army and works really weird and long hours. I am now turning to you guys with the last bit of hope i have left so i really do hope i am blessed with this baby.
And btw i haven't done the follicle tracking or routine check-ups. My doc has never brought that up except to say i should visit weekly and the visit costs alot and takes 5 mins at max. just for him to not even lift a finger but plast on a dumb smile and say how are u Angry
well babydust to all those still trying i know how it feels.
Good Luck and hope all the love tango pays off :)
