emoo hope your day has been as uneventful as mine. Was v nervous this morning but feeling a bit more relaxed now I'm home. Thinking of you and your scan tomorrow.

knitter don't worry, what you said made perfect sense when you put it up against the statistics on the MC Assoc site - 78% chance of a successful pg if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks, 98% once you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks. I just didn't realise it was because the placenta starts to fire up.

mummyabroad have told my mum. Two friends from my m&b group. Two friends who I rarely see but were trying to organise a big weekend away. And one friend who caught me just before my last scan and had to listen to me having a panic attack on the phone. They all know my mc history but I don't see any of them often (except my mum) so I don't have to talk about it everyday. I haven't told anyone at work yet - but thinking I should do soon, especially as they're planning for me to direct a 2 day shoot at a theme park next month. Normally I'd be v excited - all I can think is how I don't want to go anywhere near the rollercoasters.

wombat hooray for normal results! That's brilliant news. (ps I also read 'addition' first - did a double take and realised, but not before wondering who on earth tooth fruity was)

love glad to hear you'll be phasing out the roids soon. Have put on tons of weight and don't have that as an excuse. Didn't even think I was eating that much. With ds I distinctly remember having second breakfasts by now, and am quite disappointed when lunchtime rolls by and I realise I've made it through the morning without a proper tummy rumbling that can prompt a trip to the shops for a croissant.

daisy yay for good scan too. I felt exactly as you did at my last scan - it was also blurry and was only able to look at it for a few seconds. I really want to see a clear picture and have everything thoroughly measured. Did you get a photo to take away?

Velvetcu · 02/03/2011 20:00

Daisy great news on the scan, sorry it wasnt how you wanted it to be.

Wombat fab news from you too!

Emoo good luck for tomorrow

Mummya I have only told DH! I agree it would be nice for some people to know in case they are needed.

Irene sorry you are suffering with nausea and now sickness.

hello to AandR mamap nix orange pink dachs digi knitter onions and anyone else I have missed!

IreneHeron · 02/03/2011 19:52

Wombat Grin great news on the nuchal test.

Emoo Good luck tomorrow.

Daisy Good news on the scan. Don't worry about feeling detached. Things hit different people at different times. The best bit for me with DS was when I felt him move for the first time. Scans and hospital things can be a bit impersonal but I did love the scan photos they gave me of DS.

MummyAbroad · 02/03/2011 19:30

Wombat33 Lovely news!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin

Emoo I'm rooting for you too. Good luck xx

Wombat33 · 02/03/2011 19:24

Can I just say I love you ladies - you always make me smile and make me feel supported (or ridiculed if appropriate!!) Grin Grin I am never going to live down the tooty fruity pg brain moment Blush

Mummya I haven't told anyone apart from my two very close friends who are also the only people in the world who know about the MC. DH wants to start telling people now we've had our scan and I'm really scared to! It will make it so real. and what if something happens? I think I need a whallop over the head with a haddock!

Nix yep, I'd heard about the unwashed fruit and veg thing. It has had the effect that I'm having to give a wide berth to the amazing salad bar at work because I can't be sure it's all washed and I'm totally parnoid about washing salad at home! Lord, I'm turning into a maniac! Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

Irene Im impressed you're still running! Frustratingly I'm on exercise ban due to the bleeding I've had. I might risk starting some long walks soon though as I'm going stir crazy.

Daisy congrats on the good scan!! That's fab news!!! I also felt a bit detatched at mine, I think it's a self defence mechanism because I'm so worried about things going/being wrong. It was also less emotional because I'd seen the bean before iykwim - that's the only downside of multiple scans I think. I'm a lawyer btw. The farm visit is not my usual job (sadly) but some pro bono I do for an animal charity. Will take hand wipes!

And, drum roll..... the hospital called back with my nuchal results and they're all fine!!! Downs risk was really low. I'm thrilled with that but to be honest I was more worried that the hormone levels would show something out of the norm that might suggest some other peculiar abnormaility (bearing in mind they don't know exactly what genetic issue I have that I have a 50/50 risk of passing on). But all the hormone levels were perfectly normal!!! I'm soooooo relieved! It's not definitive that everything's okay obviously, but each step that shows nothing abnormal is a huge step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned! Grin Grin Grin

nickstermum · 02/03/2011 18:53

emoo good luck for the scan tomorrow :) xx

AR you are supermum but you dont need to be superwoman. Can you get some help with the girls? Put them into nursery for a couple of days or get a PT nanny or something? Dont take on too much, try not to stress and try not to feel guilty about being busy or stressed xx

nickstermum · 02/03/2011 18:51

Hellooooo

God... shagged today! Verrrry long meeting... still at least i will hopefully get a good nights sleep tonight in Bris.

pink :) at the MS analogy. Mine kicked in at 10 weeks and today at nearly 17 1/2 weeks i honked! Bizarre!

mamap normally i love tootie fruities but sadly not at the min. Have been scoffing opal fruits and blackcurrant liquorice sweets today YUM

blabbermouthabroad Grin i was quite good actually and only told Mum, dad & sis plus DH parents. That was it! No doubt they told one or two peeps secretly.. why cant peeps keep a secret. I was of the same ilk as you though...would need the support in the event of a loss.

Irene yey for the nausea and sickness :)
Daisy a massive whoop whoop for the scan... shame it left you disappointed! Is this your first baby? generally i didnt bond with DS until i felt movement.

wwombat did you know the biggest cause of toxoplasmosis in the uk is unwashed fruit and veg? I agree re the sheep though. Our cats are on rabbit murdering duty atm and i wont touch them. We dont have a litter tray but do have cats... very conscious when the cat shoves its arse in my face...gets launched!!

Good job on the list tidying ladees Grin

IreneHeron · 02/03/2011 18:05

MummyAbroad I've only told my Mum, and DH told his brother, then this morning I told a friend who I normally go running with. I thought the excuses for how flaky I'm being and how slow I run were wearing thin.

Daisy congrats on good scan!

How bad is everyone feeling with morning sickness and cravings? I threw up this morning for the first time, but nausea doesn't go away often, when it does I'm ravenous. I am eating and eating at the moment. It is embarrassing.

Daisybell1 · 02/03/2011 18:03

Right, that's enough Me Me Me

Knitter I need one of those ducks! OH has banned me from having baths because I have them too hot - this is just what I need!

And Knitter and Digi thinking of you today - I hope the terror is easing a little.

Wombat - what kind of job do you do? I'm sure if you use an antibac handgel you'll be fine. Everything crossed here for your results.

Mamap and AandR you are truly talented multi-taskers. I bow down before you Grin

MummyA I've told masses of people too, by the end I thought that if I told anyone, there's no way it could not be ok. Totally irrational, I know Hmm

MummyAbroad · 02/03/2011 17:58

xposts
Daisy congrats on your scan!! Dont worry about what you are "supposed" to feel or not. Every pregnancy is different and there is no such thing as "normal." If you have had a scare before, you are bound to be feeling a little detached, its a very effective self defence mechanism, I am sure things will change later on. xx

MummyAbroad · 02/03/2011 17:56

Right, my "not telling anyone" is not going so well. I have told my mum (who told my sister and step dad) my dad and step mum, two friends and a woman I see down the park all the time who knows my entire mc history.Oh and my doctor in London. oops. Blush I think "not telling anyone" really just means "not telling DH's family"Blush or maybe its because if I do have another mc I wouldnt want to be burdened with a huge big secret and I will want to be supported. Anyone else turning into a blabbermouth like me?

Daisybell1 · 02/03/2011 17:54

I'm back!

All normal with scan, measuring 12 weeks.

I realise that this is going to sound ungrateful, and I don't for one minute want to upset any of you lovely ladies, so those feeling wobbly please look away now.

I came away from the scan feeling a bit disappointed Sad

I guess I hoped that I'd feel a much stronger positive connection with the bean after the scan. But, although the sonographer was lovely, it was very quick, the image very blurry, and was on a screen at the other side of the room, so I couldn't link the scanner on my tummy and the image on the screen.

Does this make any sense? Confused

Wombat33 · 02/03/2011 16:33

D'oh! I read 'addiction' as 'addition'' and though were were getting a newly diffed lady nn tooty fruities. Gah, I think I've lost my marbles. Am in a total tizz about nuchal results (which I haven't yet had, which in itself is a good sign). Have now called hospital to see if they can give them to me and they're going to call me back (but that was an hour ago and nothing yet so wibbling even more - must get a grip!!).

mamapower · 02/03/2011 16:30

mmmmm Tooty fruities... love knows where I'm coming from here! you not had 'em wombat ?! Get down the sweet shop immediately! square, crunchy sugar coated chewey fruit flavoured sweets! Lush... I just ate another packet too!!! >

Midwife appointment today and eeeeekkkkkkkkk! I weigh 11st 7lbs..........I have managed to go from 10st11lbs to that in just over 4 weeks. Bloody steroids.....but really, I'm not too bothered as it's all in a good cause. Start weaning off the steroids in week, so am hoping that will stop me eating soooooo much (yeah, right!).
As for the appointment, I was sat waiting with a girl who looked about 17, talking about aborting one of her pg's with some former boyfriend - she already has a child, another on the way and a social worker appointed to her. I was just quite shocked that someone would talk about abortion, like it was the equivalent of making a cup of tea, when a complete stranger could hear everything. Classy, or what?

Off the see Dr.Shehata on Saturday, so fingers crossed that this scan will be fine. Feel nervous, as I've done the midwife thing and I don't feel remotely like I should be doing that yet - don't feel like I'm safe enough yet.

Hot Hope you have a good time in London - and a day on the sofa sounds lovely, you deserve it.

mama oh God, don't get me started on Tootyfruities - my mouth is watering....

Emoo good luck with your scan tomorrow

AandR you are WONDERWOMAN!!!!

Got to go - sis has just popped in - see you later x

hotnspicyonions · 02/03/2011 15:50

Afternoon all! Hope all the wibblers are not wibbling too much! I'm feeling much better today thanks. The cakes went down a storm in RL. There's something about grown men going weak at the knees at chocolate cake, although some of them didn't believe that I had made it!I put them right of course and am now admired for something else other than my ever growing Biscuit Biscuit (one bloke did ask if I had modeled giant cupcake on my breasts!?!)
And after reading everyones posts and seeing how busy you all are, I feel exceptionally guilty about staying on the sofa all day and catching up on stuff on my Sky planner!
(BTW is anyone else watching Bedlam?)
Busy few days ahead though. And off to the smoke on Saturday for a frinds birthday. She hopes that I won't get bored from not drinking!

PS I have updated the dates as there must have been a x post and I got missed off Sad

Hi everyone

knitter I love baths too but always get paranoid about the temperature. You need one of these duckies they come in very handy when you are in with bubba too!

PS If you were feeling cold when in the bath, I doubt you raised your core temp much!

Wombat33 · 02/03/2011 14:46

Tooty Fruities??

mamapower · 02/03/2011 14:09

New addiction alert Tooty Fruities - OMG! Amazing!

Daisy AR we're women, muti tasking is what we do! Coping is what we do! You know what, good for us... even if we will all look like a haggard 50year old by the end of the year Grin Grin

Digi hope you are having a lovely uneventful day. I like your style on the tube... I couldn't bring myself to ask on Sat night and by the ime I got to Tottenham court was ready to hurl my guts up!

emoo wibbling is norm around the dates it all went wrong before ((hug)) good luck for tomorrow!

knitter careful on the 'hot' baths sweets, baths per se are ok but be careful of the temp as in Tri 1 you have to avoid raising your core temp!

Waves to all
