Oh and thanks for scan advice. I don't know why I'm being Hmm about it-now's hardly the time to become shy if they switch to dildo cam having happily had my legs up in stirrups for a dildo cam week after week recently!!

KnitterNotTwitter · 04/03/2011 17:37

orange your scan sounds wonderful - happy, happy, happy...

KnitterNotTwitter · 04/03/2011 17:34

Hey

Back from councelling. She's very excited about my scan and heartbeat info from last week. Seems like ages ago to me but only 10 days really. We talked a lot about making sure I relax and don't worry.... It's all fine in theory but in practice impossible IMO!

Velvet pink goo sounds ok... I'd worry if it was any red-er...

Tunnocks still really excited for you... Feel like adding yourself to the list yet?

PinkFondantFancy · 04/03/2011 17:34

velvet MW sounds like she just doesn't get it Angry. I second what the others say-I would call the EPU, explain your history and why you are so stressed now. You ARE stressed so don't try and be brave on the phone cos it doesn't help your cause, hopefully they can give you more helpful advice/reassurance if appropriate. Then if you need GP referral, go to GP asap and lay it on thick-if there's a newly qualified GP you can see, all the better cis they are more human and less blaze about stuff. I would defo push EPU on phone to talk you through how likely it is to be a sign of something sinister, because hopefully that will flush out one way or the other whether they can genuinely reassure you or whether you need a scan.

orange fabulous news about scan!

dachs you will be so shocked (in a good way!!) next time you see the pups!! You are v brave holding out to wait for another scan-My scan addiction is wildly out of control!!

nickstermum · 04/03/2011 17:33

Velvet* my mw said pretty much the same thing. I would contact your EPU. Likely to be implantation, but i would give them a call anyway. You fit the right criteria for EPU anyway.....

Mummy and pink i think the 12 week nuchal requires less than full bladder because they need a very clear pic of the neck and nasal bone, whereas a dating scan is different. (I think!)

OrangeGloss · 04/03/2011 17:23

Velvet sorry I hadn't refreshed from earlier and didn't see your post. What a horrible MW, I've had some right ones when I've rung up. Couldn't it be pink from implantation? Emoo's right any bleed deserves a scan, hopefully your GP will refer you ((()))

Tunnocks OMFG!! That's awesome news Grin

Pink good news on scan too, may the jinx faries clear off and stay away

Just come out of a lovely scan, we got so much time looking and she said it was it in a lovely position so switched to 4D for a peek, and heard heartbeat too. Happy day Grin

Velvet - sorry you're wibbling. I am a bit Angry at your MW, to be honest. What does she think is making the goo pink if not blood? She may well be right, and it may be nothing significant... but nobody knows that for sure until there has been a scan to rule out the potentially serious causes such as ectopic. (I'm not at all saying that's likely to be the issue, especially as you have no pain, but it's one of the things any doctor should consider with a bleed in early pregnancy.) EPAUs are outside the remit of midwifery (they fall under gynaecology, at least round here) - so of course the MW is not going to order you an early scan. But it doesn't mean you don't deserve one. If you have a bleed - any bleed, including pink goo - go and see your GP, and hopefully you will get an EPAU referral. Just explain what your concerns are (key words being - early pregnancy, bleeding, previous miscarriage, anxious), and I would have thought most reasonable GPs would refer you without quibble.

owlbooty · 04/03/2011 16:52

At my 12 week scan(s) (NHS and private) they got better pictures with an empty bladder.

I can tell you that having a sonographer press REALLY hard on a full bladder will result in emergency emptying anyway Grin

Velvet come back 'ere with that there Haribo! Your MW does not sound particularly helpful. I don't know if pink goo counts as bleeding - has it been better today than it was yesterday? I guess the logical thing to do is if it tails off, wait until a bit later for a private scan (if you can hang on til 8 weeks that would be better than 6 weeks) and if the goo continues to be pink, maybe consider contacting GP as you've been told to?

I send you big hugs and a chelsea bun.

Velvetcu · 04/03/2011 16:38

I have had a really big wibble yesterday/today. Had lots of pink goo dripping out yesterday afternoon so have spent today with my feet up lazing around on the settee, feeling guilty about not going to work and sobbing my heart out about how difficult this all is!

I phoned the midwife line and her words were "Think about something else instead, we wont treat you any differently just because you've had an mmc so you wont get an early scan. Speak to your gp if you are bleeding before then". That is not what I needed to hear although I know it's true.

Does my pink goo count as a bleed or not? I have no pain or anything.

DH says I can book in for a private scan next week if I want (they will do them from 6 weeks) but I dont know if that will make me feel any better or not. Everyone on here seems to be so much more cheerful after they have seen their bean(s).

Sorry for mememe, it's why I havent posted much for a few days

DoubleDiffedDachs · 04/03/2011 16:26

hello all :)

tunnocks dates = irrelevant heartbeat = FAB!!! Grin So pleased for you

Also all you other scanners out there today. glad you have had good news :)

pink Scary booking 12 week scan isn't it! My doc yesterday persuaded me to get mine booked in (although it's booked for 12+5 so I'm not sure how i'm going to wait that long!) My appointment also says you don't need a full bladder... Glad you have a nice little look at pinkbabe I can't wait until mine start looking a bit more like babies! (We saw tiny limb buds yesterday and they're beginning to look a bit less like tadpoles but still not v baby like..)

I have a booking in appointment with the midwife at 10+4 so I guess that's my next official date. So far I've had a scan every week since 5 weeks so I'm not sure how I'm going to cope next week without seeing the dachspups again. Trying to get a positive mental attitude. (I think my consultant thinks I'm a bit stressed out about it all - he kept patting me on the arm yesterday, which I'd usually find horribly patronising but it was actually strangely reassuring!)

MummyAbroad · 04/03/2011 16:20

Hi Pink usually tummy scans are better when done with a full bladder but fanjocam works better with an empty bladder. Maybe it is also something to with how far along you are? Perhaps its only necessary to worry about bladder being empty/full when its early days? Just guessing that last bit.

nickstermum · 04/03/2011 15:14

pink i went for my 12 week scan with an overful bladder and i was sent away to empty half of it! Try emptying half an overful bladder.... not an easy feat i can tell you!!

nickstermum · 04/03/2011 15:12

ah teacake relly really pleased for you lovely xxxx
feetup now my love, take it easy for a bit xxx

PinkFondantFancy · 04/03/2011 15:11

Also feeling a bit Confused about having booked a 12 week scan-naff off jinx pixies!!

PinkFondantFancy · 04/03/2011 15:10

tunnocks wonderful news!! This sounds ridiculous coming from me (!) but try and relax until your 8 week scan-the fact that there was a heartbeat already means it can't be that far away from your dates, and as the others say, measurements are completely pants early on.

I am going to haddock slap myself for being incapable of following own advice while bring perfectly happy to dish it out with a straight face!! Grin

nix sounds like fun!! Hehe can't wait-am somewhat strongwilled myself so likely to make for a peaceful house in the mornings!! Grin Grin Grin

Good luck orange!

I am slightly confused, have just booked 12 week scan privately as have given up waiting for an appointment from the Nhs, and the confirmation mail says I don't need to have a full bladder??? Er, why not??

owlbooty · 04/03/2011 14:52

WOO-HOO! Tunnocks am absolutely chuffed to bits for you Grin Do not fret about the dates; they are often utterly, utterly wonky at that sort of stage. Finding a heartbeat is wonderful.

Have a brilliant relaxed rest of the day :)

Knitter hope the counselling session is good.

mamapower · 04/03/2011 14:43

Awwwwww teacake I just shed a little tear of happiness for you, that's made my bloody busy day worth getting out of bed for after all Grin Grin
About dates mine is 9 days later than my LMP so don't let that worry you at all Smile

Have a great weekend all, I shall be trying to enjoy but fear more business planning... seems such a long way to go before we open our doors but in reality it's only 4 weeks!! OMG! Oh and HMRC can go themselves for being unhelpful gits... thank you v much unhelpful helpline idiots!! Grin Grin

MummyAbroad · 04/03/2011 14:42

Teacake oh phew phew phew! So pleased for you Grin Grin Grin If you start getting worried about those dates, keep reading the bit where Dach found out here twin pups are developing at different rates - thats absolute proof that a few days "inaccuracy" is not something to worry about at all xxx

Pink Horray!! Have a lovely image of your bean with its legs crossed and arms folded behind its head just chilling out in thereGrin

Velvetcu · 04/03/2011 14:23
