Hello!

Newly updiffed and freaking out about spotting, cramping, the wait until your first scan and each little twinge? Settle in for lots of hand holding and supprt until you're ready to move to grads.

Lots of love

My early scan was NHS - and they seem pretty supportive in offering me further ones too. Don't know whether this is because I've had 4 mc's, or whether they'd do this for someone who had 2+.....it's maybe a bit of a postcode lottery too?

Dachs more lovely news on your two beans - it's so exciting!

Knitter yay, HB found! Good news - am happy for you too.

mamap I am eating way too much too - I think I even eat that much that I almost can't breathe after too! I'm hoping it will slow down soon, but I put on half a stone in the first trimester when pg with DD. Food just seems to taste really good, and I don't seem to fill up - I can just eat and eat. I know that feeling tired makes me eat more when I'm not pg, so maybe feeling tired contributes to it too.

Velvet glad it's just brown goo now.

About to hit the wall of tiredness now - coinciding with having to get dinner ready, boo! Was awake at 6am this morning though. Anyone else finding that they can't sleep on their tummy anymore? It feels uncomfortable and a bit full (probably all the bloody food!!!!), and I just find that bizarre at 7 weeks. Maybe I'm just really in tune with my body in my old age......Grin

Hi everyone.

I must say I feel like a bit of a fraud being on this thread. All this talk of scans and midwives. If I wasn't having nausea and sore tits I'd think I wasn't pregnant. I've still not seen the doctor, although I have an appointment for Thursday. Perhaps it will feel a bit more real then.

I'm glad in a way that I'm feeling normal. I'm not dwelling on being pregnant like last time and I'm not letting myself feel too excited. Hopefully it will be easier if it all goes wrong again.

KnitterNotTwitter · 22/02/2011 15:42

velvet my scan this morning was NHS as I've previously had an ectopic and they have to check that the pg is in the right place... With the ectopic I ended up having my left tube removed. Losing the right too would be somewhat disastrous....

apples82 · 22/02/2011 15:26

It does help, thank you. I thought it would be more Smile

DoubleDiffedDachs · 22/02/2011 15:14

velvet mine were private

apples I live in Berkshire and an early scan there is about £75, up to about £175 in some of the London clinics. I think most places in London charge about £100. Hope that helps :)

Wombat33 · 22/02/2011 15:14

Mine at 7wks was £100.

apples82 · 22/02/2011 15:11

Inappropriate question I know, but how much do private scans cost. I'm 6+1 and was wondering about a private scan...

Wombat33 · 22/02/2011 14:47

Oh Velvet I know what you mean about wiping and wiping! Brown goo only is a really good sign though. FX it stays that way - there's no reason why it shouldn't!

Can you talk to DH a bit more and explain to him how scared you'refeeling and that you'd really like to tell your mum soo that she can help share the burden of supporting you through this stage so it's not all on him?

I have my early scans privately as my GP wouldn't refer me to EPU (even after bleeding Angry - my lovely midwife has now given me her number to arange this if I bleed again - but that's another story!). In terms of timing, it may be worth contacting the clinic(s) where you would have it done. The place I went to would not scan earlier than 7 weeks because they said the rate of development can be so different that they find earlier than that the risk of an uncertain result is too high. That might make the timing decision for you?

Velvetcu · 22/02/2011 14:39

Yay knitter congrats on the heartbeat - that is early!

Only a little bit more brown not red goo - I'm gonna get sore if I continue to wipe at this rate tho! I think I might get myself some expensive loo roll!

Early scan ladies - were yours private or nhs? I was gonna pay for a private one at 7 weeks coz I don't want to book in until I know it's ok but I'm in two minds as to whether I should do it early so they can keep their eye on it?

I'm having so many conversations with myself it's getting bit crazy! I'm wishing the weeks away which is rubbish coz I'm on half term so should be enjoying it. I really want to tell my mum in case things go wrong and I need her but dh says no :(

AandRMum · 22/02/2011 14:38

Writing as I read so am about a couple of pages behind but had to say MamaP I was eating steaks for morning tea with DD2. It slowed down and I lost the weight afterwards.

Wombat33 · 22/02/2011 14:36

Hello Bumps, congratulations!! I've PMed you x

Bumpsadaisie · 22/02/2011 14:11

Just trespassing on this thread to say hello to Wombat33 - spotted you and think we were on the September bus together and wondered how you were getting on. It hope all is still well with this pregnancy.

I got a BFP on the October bus - am now 6 weeks plus and very tired and grumpy! Feeling nauseous but provided I eat constantly its not too bad (though last time round the full on serious MS didn't kick in till 7 weeks I don't think).

Best of luck to everyone else on the thread.

Bumps x

DoubleDiffedDachs · 22/02/2011 14:07

tunnocks nice! Hope you're feeling a bit better now :)

DoubleDiffedDachs · 22/02/2011 14:06

pink yeah - i heard them! They put the cursor on the little flickery heartbeat we could see and then turned the volume up - we heard them! And they've given us loads of pictures, including the little trace fo the heartbeats :)

They've labelled the pups 'Twin One' and 'Twin Two' on the pictures, in case we couldn't work it out for ourselves Hmm

Whoop for knitterbean!!! And to see a hb too - fantastic news!!

mamapower · 22/02/2011 13:45

pinkety pink I'd be sick if I was on the way to Brom too WinkGrin Do you have a translator available for the yam yam talk??? No offense brommies out there, I love you all Smileand yes I can say that I live 30 min's away, so it's my home too!
Thanks chiccadee that's of some comfort, I just ordered two bump bands in the hope that'll extend the fit and life of my usual jeans/work trousers by a couple of weeks. Also, Hot milk on figleaves for sexy maternity/nursing bra's madame Wink Incidentally, I think I metioned this already but anyway, bra extenders £3 from Jojo M B for 4, got one on today and it does help, might give me an extra couple of weeks.

PinkFondantFancy · 22/02/2011 13:17

Wow fab news on the scans so far!! dacha did you hear the heartbeats?? That is so cool.

digi don't be scared, things change so fast and a couple of days either way make a big difference.

velvet big hugs for you try and hamg in there-lots of the others have been through the same thing but I know it's scary.

mamap mwah Creme eggs and donuts on nom nom. If it helps I am using exactly the same thing-I normally wouldn't eat this stuff but it's all i fancy and the thought of anything else makes me want to puke. I've gone up to size 14 (have been size 12 forever) and even that's starting to get tight..... On the upside I didn't have this last time so I'm counting it as a Good Thing. Also, I think things should hopefully settle down by week 15 ish and then we can try and feed our little beans something more healthy then! nix plastic diet ended around then I think?

owly thanks for the tip-I'm a bit scared to go in Mothercare Confused but worth it if they've got some nice bras. mamap you recommended somewhere too-where was it again?

I am on a train to Birmingham and don't usually get travel sick but this is making me feel dire!!!

mamapower · 22/02/2011 12:59

awwww teaccake big squeeze hon... my painful cramps lasted until about week6/7 and I still get them every now and then.

knitter whooooooop for your bean GrinGrin my dates were significantly different too

Dachs great news on beans too Grin having seen that both me and knitter have very diff gestational age to our calculated age I would wait until your dating scan from a precise answer... dating whther from LMP or IVF is a very inexact science... be patient my love, you know roughly when they are due and soon enough you'll have a date Smile

Orange like everyone has said... stop reading mc boards. It'll fook up your head and needlessly freak you out... you and bean are doing well, stay positive Smile

digitalgirl · 22/02/2011 12:59

hooray knitter that's really great news.

(although little bit scared as could only see sac and yolk at 5+2 at my last scan)

KnitterNotTwitter · 22/02/2011 12:46

I know - was very excited to see heartbeat. The first thing she said apart from 'the fanjocam will be a bit cold' was 'well it's not ectopic' then 'i can see the nice sac' then 'and the baby' then 'i'm estimating 5+4'. At that point I thought that we wouldn't see the heartbeat but then she said she could see it :) Clever little bean :)

DH was a dream and infact is on best behaviour generally at the moment :) :) :)

nickstermum · 22/02/2011 12:32

Yey for miniknitter xxxx whoop :)

Dachs, it doesn't get that much easier even after 12 weeks, only when you can hear the heartbeat or feel movement really does it get just a little reassuring!!

Sorry orange, that did sound a bit harsh! I also meant to say you have had your scan, the chances of something going wrong as per your stat is very slim, but sadly we do all know of peeps who have suffered the agony of a late mc...if the mc association says 99+% then there must be something in it. You have no reason to think it's hone wrong. Xx Grin

DoubleDiffedDachs · 22/02/2011 12:28

thanks knitter you too :) And I'm sure bean will show up exactly on its due date too Wink

I think the next 5 weeks are going to go really slowly - I just want to reach that magical 12 weeks and start to relax a little
