Ladies I've been trying to work out how to post this as I know it's going to be unsettling news for so many of you Sad

It wasn't a good scan for me. I am supposed to be 10+6 today, the sonographer took an absolute age measuring and looking before saying "I can see a tiny pregnancy. I'm so sorry, no heartbeat". Bean was measuring 16mm, dated 8+1. We saw a heartbeat and it was measuring spot on at 6+6. She showed me the screen and I could clearly see the shape of my little bean, with it's tiny chord, but no movement, and no flicker.

They found a room for me and went to get the consultant, who went through everything. Basically said that the Clexane + Aspirin treatment reduced risk of MC from approx. 75-80% to 25% but obviously I fell into that 1 in 4 this time. I asked about the remaining blood test results and he looked those up, confirmed that I tested -ve for Anticardiolipin Abs, and my day 21 progesterone which was done on the cycle I conceived, so while I was 1 week pg, was 30. He conceded that it was a little on the low side and that next time we could try progesterone on top, start clexane immediately.

I'm now wondering whether I should have doubted the haematologist's 2x injections daily, when the gynae consultant said 1x. I think if I do this again I'll insist on 2x.

My symptoms slightly altered around week 8, but I couldn't really tell you they disappeared, or what's changed - there have been plenty carrying on - sore boobs, itchy nipples, nausea, lack of appetite then ravenous appetite, I threw up this morning and have been retching most others Hmm. No spotting, no cramping, no indication at all. Sorry - I know that will scare the bejeebers out of you, but if it tells you anything it's that symptoms or lack of symptoms means nothing. There are plenty on here whose symptoms have disappeared and they're fine.

I'm not sure what I'll do as far as management goes - body obviously hasn't cottoned on to what's happened yet. DH is devastated, he was looking forward today and v confident that things were ok because I'd been pretty green. We both really thought that this year was going to be a new phase in our lives, but it looks like at least some of the same old shit is carrying on. Sad I'm more sorry than I can say to be leaving you lovely ladies.

Heartbroken.

nickstermum · 23/02/2011 18:39

ah gosh now i think ive upset everyone. Told you i was battling rage and being arsy. No one has upset anyone - GOTIT?! Grin We all need reassurance in the most sensitive of ways xx I'll be honest, i have stepped away from one or two threads recently because i found them draining or didnt get anything from them..when you're fragile sometimes they can do more harm than good. I think everyone on here is fragile in their own way. Yah.. nuff said.

I have buried my MC pain and today (yep...driving again) leona came on the radio singing that wibbling song by snowpatrol thats loaded with emotion... and SNAP went the flood gates. My MC due date is monday (and my friend is booked in for her csection!) and i thought i was compartmentalising it OK but obviously not..either that or its just fricking hormones! Confused

Couple of things...

  1. Decaff coffee and tea apparently has more chemicals in it to remove the caffeine, than a normal full caffeine drink has. (I was drinking decaff kenco when pg 1 but was advised not to) I think the guidelines are either 1 or 2 cups of real coffee or tea a day. One of the main issues is caffeine can allegedly hinder implantation? dunno

  2. EPA is good to take, love is right, makes brainy baby! Can also help with baby brain. (I just cant stand burping fish oil back up... urgh..oh the sacrifices Grin a really good omega 3 and 6 or 369 if you can get a high dose one.

  3. for anyone with allergies or athsma (my family is loaded with them and my nephews are terribly allergic to foods/all sorts... terrible eczema etc... I would suggest taking 2 billion dophillus probiotics as they help to protect the baby from hereditary allergies like the athsma/eczema family

velvet i have taken Folic acid for the last 12 months (ttc/mc/then TTc again) and its the folic acid thats stored in your body that makes the difference. Ive then taken it for 12 weeks and when i remember i take it daily... tbh have not been good with any of the above this pg... NOTE TO SELF - must try harder :)

lovemysleep · 23/02/2011 18:06

I take Zita West pregnancy vitamins - I also took her fertility ones too. I also take a Mega EPA - which is the kind of fish oils suitable for pregnancy. I took them when pg with DD, as I'd heard that they can help with brain development but also, as both my DH and I are asthmatic and have allergies, I'd heard that they could help prevent your child developing them. DD hasn't got asthma or allergies (yet - could maybe develop them later), and is a pretty robust child. Hope this next one is as resilient - if it get's that far....

Emoo sorry you're having the brown goo, hope it all turns out fine..

Velvet I tend to avoid caffeine as much as I can, but sometimes I'll have a proper cup of tea or coffee once a day. Can't remember how much you can officially have though - I just tend to be overly cautious, really.

Hello all and is mummy poking her head in? Fabulous news!

Would love to say more to others, but I am dead on my feet today.....half term is killing me! No afternoon nas is taking it's toll. Can't get a break by taking DD to grandparents as our niece has had chicken pox, as could get infected - and apparently, you really must avoid people who have them if you're on steroids.

Am obviously a wimp, as you other ladies are managing to work and be pg - well, actually,I'm a lazy cow!

Big hugs to all xx

PinkFondantFancy · 23/02/2011 17:47

Girls, on CRL its basically impossibleto get the markers in the right place early on and that is why they wait until 12 weeks to date. So if theyre a bit off on a little bean you end up with a massive difference from what you were expecting and what it actually is in reality.

velvet consultant said to me to take standard pregnancy vitamins and no extra vitamin supplements on top. There's no way pregnacare would cause a MC IMHO.

OrangeGloss · 23/02/2011 16:46

Emoo sorry you're having the goo, but each pg is different, and doesn't necessarily be the same pattern
Wombat it won't help but as Nix says it could be the placenta, I read lots of women start to feel better around 11 weeks. Glad you had a nice gp to fit you in before Friday. Mine wouldn't refer me last time, so this time I deliberately rang out of hours to speak to someone else!
Nix I agree, I do it to myself, get all worked up then freak out. It's a spiral I can't stop and makes everyone feel worse I would hate to think I'd upset anyone :( :( I do try to help too. Will try to just be positive on here in future

Interesting the CRL chart that I think Knitter posted. It puts me 2 days ahead of what the sonographer said, I like it :)

Wombat33 · 23/02/2011 16:42

Knitter 18 March - not too long to wait!

It might be the fake sugar in the diet coke rather than the caffeine? I'm finding I have to choose my yogurts carefully and avoid those with aspartame or anything like that in them as they make me feel really pukey!

KnitterNotTwitter · 23/02/2011 16:27

Can't remember if I said but DH and I have picked the 18th of March to go for our 9 week scan... Seems like a long way away at the moment

Boobs are definitely bigger today though - even DH has noticed Grin, still womb-heavy and pointy nippled.

Have also had a diet coke that has made me feel positively ill - no more caffine for me for the next 8 months or so then!

hotnspicyonions · 23/02/2011 16:15

Only taking folic acid at the mo. Need to buy some Pregnacare (took last time) tomorrow on weekly shopping trip with Mum!

digitalgirl · 23/02/2011 16:09

I'm taking pregnacare plus (has extra Omega pills in the box). Only ever took folic acid in previous pg's, so this is me making an extra effort. I'm also taking low dose aspirin.

Still feeling reassuringly womb-heavy today which is about as much as I can hope for in absence of ms or painfully sore boobs.

ladybee hope scan went well, thinking of you.
