If my period is due on Saturday and a pregnancy test today was negative - what are the chances?

I really feel like we've failed again this month.

An early pregnancy test was negative today - we've got no chance have we?

blimey, how confusing.

i don't know anything about those ovulation sticks. you said you had a pos but then later say you had a neg on them. I am not sure what that's all about.

Chocolocolate · 20/02/2011 21:38

Sorry to hear that pecka33 good luck for next month.

Thanks for all of that info galwaygal I'm not thinking that I didn't get a positive on the ov strip as there was a line but it wasn't as dark as the test line. I thought it was like pregnancy test where a line means positive.

So basically, I'm in the same position - I'm now on day 37 (of a normally 28-day cycle) with no AF, BFN and a negative on the ov stick Sad

sorry for late reply ladies af got me, 2 days late, very unusual but i did ov quite late got a surge around 2nd so makes sense really....
Yet more ttc action commence.....

Hi Chocolocolate,

A positive (test line as dark as or darker than control) on an OPK means that it is picking up and Lutenizing Hormone surge, this can happen just before ovulation, or after ovulation and often just before af is due to arrive.

Your body can gear up to ovulate in a month then not ovulate, so you can get a positive opk but not ovulate then, and then get another positive later in the cycle where just before ovulation actually occurs. This might have happened with you this time.

Or it could be that your af is just about to start.

Obviously it could be that you are pregnant too, but if you were the pregnancy test would be obvious by the time the opk showed positive.

I hope you get your answer soon!

Just had a new development:

Bought loads of ovulation tester sticks off Ebay last week (ready for next month) but I'm a bit of an obsessive tester and have peed on them each day, along with the pregnancy tests, since I got them Blush

Today I got a BFP - on the OVULATION stick. Does that mean that I'm now ovulating - 3 weeks late?

Chocolocolate · 19/02/2011 23:48

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting so fed up with this now.

Still no AF and still BFN.

OP posts:
piratecat · 17/02/2011 21:10

it is weird, i am gunning for you here!

from what i remember (old emoticon) you can be reg but not always ovulate?

Chocolocolate · 17/02/2011 20:31

Sorry knitterati Sad

I'm thinking perhaps I didn't ovulate? It's just odd as I'm normally so regular.

OP posts:
knitterati · 17/02/2011 19:21

Alas not this time :(
AF arrived with vengeance. Ah well more practice needed I guess!! Sure DH won't complain about that!! :)

piratecat · 17/02/2011 19:15

been following your thread op. very weird. but as i am sure you know we don't always ovulate every month, thats what i was told by doc yrs back when i was ttc?

maybe ovulation was later though. x

Chocolocolate · 17/02/2011 17:31

Hello,

I'm now 6 days late but still getting bfn's.

This is so frustrating.

How's everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
goingmadtrying · 15/02/2011 22:25

(waves to everyone)
evening ladies, i'm in the boring stage of waiting for ewcm so not much swi so far, fx for all you ladies waiting on your bfp's,
squeaky sounds hopeful, let us know how you get on
:)

Chocolocolate · 15/02/2011 21:05

Still no AF but BFN! I'm not very hopeful though.

I was ill when I should have ovulated. Could that have made ovulation late, or perhaps stop me ovulating at all?

I am normally regular.

That does sound promising knitterati - keep us updated.

Thanks for the support everyone - I'll let you know.

BlueCrane · 15/02/2011 18:51

knitterati sounds bit like an implantation bleed to me Grin!! Maybe try and wait a few ,ore days and if no AF test again!

choco how are you doing?

knitterati · 15/02/2011 18:40

chocolocolate - I read this an in exactly the same situation. TTC and AF is normally always 28d so was due on Thursday. Took a clear blue early HPT on Tuesday. got a BFN. Then tested again on Friday and still BFN.

Since Thurs have had light spotting (brown and pink) and today, really bad cramping, but still no period. Still awaiting the 'evil red tide of doom' :) not sure about wasting my money on a 3rd test. Hate this waiting and hope we both get news one way or another :(

squeakytoy · 15/02/2011 10:57

I am stil keeping fingers crossed for you Choco..

I am due on today.. so far not arrived.. and I am regular as clockwork.

Its my birthday so I am really really hoping for a BFP as a birthday present but both the superdrug tests I used this morning were faulty... grrrrrrrrrr.

grubbalo · 15/02/2011 08:19

Oh Chocolocolate, I keep looking on here and crossing my fingers for you... are you normally late? I don't want to get your hopes up but this time last week I was absolutely certain AF was on the way, I had terrible cramps etc. This is my third pregnancy and the only thing that has ever been in common as a "symptom" is that in each case I thought the way I was feeling meant that I couldn't possibly be pregnant.

I really have got everything crossed for you xx

Chocolocolate · 14/02/2011 21:44

You made me lol with "evil red tide of doom" MrsSatsuma.

Thanks for the support. Today, I've been having period-like feelings but no AF, bloody thing. I just wish it would get on and be over with.

OP posts:
MrsSatsuma · 14/02/2011 18:37

I think our bodies do it just to annoy us - eg 'ooh she's waiting for a BFP so I'll hang in for another day or two before unleashing my evil red tide of doom, just for a laugh...' Hmph. Sorry, got no words of advice, except it seems from reading MN that anything is possible so don't give up hope just yet!

BlueCrane · 14/02/2011 08:20

Think I'm just entering the 2ww...but that also depends on whether my normal cycle is 30 or 35 days after last months oddity! I had a docs app in the middle of the 2ww last time about something else but I took the opportunity to ask about PG tests etc and she said that in most people the hormone level doubles every 48 hours but in some people it's 72 hours and since we all often start with a level of around 5 and a lot of tests don't pick it up til it's around 50 [I think] then that can make quite a difference. Also, if the implantation takes place quite late then that can slow it down further! Really hope you get an answer soon choco!!

Chocolocolate · 13/02/2011 23:25

Checked my calender again - AF was due on Friday. Two days late but bfn - what's going on?

OP posts:
Chocolocolate · 13/02/2011 23:21

Thanks BlueCrane. Sorry to hear about last month - how have you got on this month?

It's so so difficult not to stress or think about it all the time.

How are you doing pecka33 ? Did AF arrive?

Congrats Grubbalo

I just wish AF would arrive so I can get on with starting again.

OP posts:
BlueCrane · 13/02/2011 18:25

hang in there and try not to stress!

I'm sure my stressing last month was why AF was 5 days late and I wasted loads of money doing tests and got BFN's but still got my hopes up as I was late and was then sooo disappointed when AF came. I'm sure if I'd been more relaxed it would've helped!! Feel for you!!

Chocolocolate · 13/02/2011 18:09

Ah! Still no AF & bfn - this waiting is awful.

OP posts:
Chocolocolate · 12/02/2011 22:37

Funny thing ...

No AF yet, but still bfn!
