woohoo over here

OP posts:
hippychick66 · 28/02/2011 16:21

The last few months AF has come in with a couple of days of pink/brown. Sometimes very brown (which is apparently old blood from last month- lazy stuff huh - takes a whole month to get out!).

Thanks for the advice about smears. i hate them. Always worry that once I am clamped up, a fire alarm is gonna go off and I'm gonna end up in the car park with my nunu prized apart - Shock I did actually tell one of the nurses this and she laughed and assured me she would un-clamp me! jolls I know you are shaking your head and laughing at me right now!

Diege · 28/02/2011 16:03

Re: effecting implantation apparently not...in fact I had a smear when I would have been one week-post conception with dd3 I think the only reason they don't do them in pregnany inthe UK (I know they do in the USA) is that the results can be difficult to read. I had very dodgy smears about 5 years ago now, had treatment, and have had 4 normal smears since (I have them annually). My last was March 2010 so if by any chance I am pregnant this month I won't sweat it, but would probably book one next month and take a ttc break if not, just to get it out of the way. I think even if you do get a dodgy result and then find out you're pregnant they don't treat as the cells won't change that much in 9 mths anyway.
I have also been thinking about Lou and wondering how things are. Hoping you're ok Lou if you are lurking xx

hippychick66 · 28/02/2011 15:44

I've never had a bad result so am expecting it to be all clear again [hopeful face]. I just wondered if the actual act of taking a smear off the cervix could effect an inplantation taking place a week later - that kinda thing. I might wait one more month - especially as I'm paying for reflexology this month and don't want to cock up a good chance. Still got the odd tweak in the boobs but also lots of yucky brown CM so i know deep down that the 11/11/11 baby thing is over for me. Sorry if anyone is eating chocolate mousse right now Grin.

Am getting worried about lou. She's not been on today - is no news good news???

Diege · 28/02/2011 15:10

Hi Twinny! Well on the smear front ideally they say (my practice) that you should indeed put ttc-ing on hold (if you are high risk like me) as the treatment you would need for abnormal cells isn't great when pregnant. For low-risk though, any treatment could be postponed until after baby was born. I am putting off my due smear until after my birthday anyway to give me a few extra months of being younger when ttc-ing Blush. That's very sad I know! I have also enquired about a private smear as the turnaround time for results is 6-8 weeks at out dr's Shock.

hippychick66 · 28/02/2011 14:58

tina how awful for you. All very stressful but hopefully it hasn't caused long term damage.((()))

diege yes I noticed we were next to each other for now Grin Bezzie mates an' all that jazz.

I know exactly what you mean about getting your hopes up. I'm 12 days post ov too and despite having browny-pink cm I'm still holding out a slither of hope (stupid woman face icon). I hope you turn out to be right.

i booked a reflexology session for next week when i should be on about day 9/10. I suddenly realised that the only times I'd got pregnant recently (not counting the boys) was when my lady encouraged my ovaries through my feet. She did it both times just before I ov'd and got a BFP and even though it didn't actually give me a take home baby it did at least encourage inplantation (maybe) so with the right egg it could make a difference Hmm.

i also have to squeeze in a smear (we are twins diege) as I got a reminder letter last month. I know I have to wait for the period to end but I want to do the smear before I ov so that doesn't give me much of a window. Does it matter if you have a smear whilst TTC??? Anyone know?

TinaO99 · 28/02/2011 14:47

sorry diege I'm so dense at times lol, yes they will kill off the infection anyway to ensure we're free of it but they just can't ascertain how likely it is that it's done any permanent damage, the Dr did say she thought it was unlikely to have caused any long term damage but couldn't be certain

BeattieBow · 28/02/2011 14:31

sorry I added myself to the list and ran!

tina sorry about af turning up.

diege go on test woman!

hippy yes, am completely preoccupied with the move now. Have been contacting schools all weekend and have lots of emails now! it's v exciting. there are actually a couple of possibilities which sound good.

have just realised I have my injections for Vietnam on Friday - presumably I ought to test before then as these could be contraindicated (or whatever!) in pregnancy?

Diege · 28/02/2011 14:23

Grin Hippy you could shout up the list to me with your bistro order?
Sorry Tina, ABs = Antibiotics Grin

hippychick66 · 28/02/2011 14:19

AGE ORDER!!!! GOD FORBID!!!

TinaO99 · 28/02/2011 14:19

hi diege no theyve done all they can on the nhs, what are ABs Blush??

Diege · 28/02/2011 14:04

like it Jolls, though age order would have been good too Wink
Tina Sorry for af Sad Are there no investigations they would order at all? Would ABs be of any use now if indeed you had been infected for a year? Sorry, not very helpful, but do hope you can get something sorted to out your mind at rest x

randomimposter · 28/02/2011 13:53
TinaO99 · 28/02/2011 13:41

hey ladies - AF started yesterday so no luck for me this month :-( am really worried about my fertility now as I was diagnosed with chlamydia recently(not my fault I got it I hasten to add)and although it's now been treated I could have had it for up to a year and not known - NHS won't fund any investigatory treatment either, i'd have to go private which I can't afford!

lou hope you are ok and hello to everyone else, I'll add my stats too!

Grin Hippy. One man I do have a bit of a thing about (other than Simon Cowell, Rafa Nadal, oh and dh Wink) is that nurse off Casulty (the one that was going out with the dr. who is lising the plt a bit). The whole dark longish hair and dark eyes thing is very much my ideal Grin
Ooh I don't know about testing I'm 12dpo today and do have a few symptoms (waking very early last 3 days, sore boobs (though on and off don't feel that sore), metallic taste...I'm cross with myself as up until Friday/Sat I was proud with how calm I was, and that I'd just be pleased with a few extra days on Lp, but now of course I've thrown my heart into it and I know I will be devastated if it's a bfn! Confused

hippychick66 · 28/02/2011 12:36

BB you were asking if I was having trouble choosing schools. Yes and No. I find OFSTED a great place to start (although you would always have to visit to get a good feel for the place). Fortunately most of the schools on the island are good. And we only have to choose 1 secondary for DS1 in Sept and 1 primary for DS2. We originally wanted to move to Bournemouth/Poole but the schools were very mixed and you had a good one right next to a not so good one which made it hard to choose an area. Good luck with your research. At the very least it WILL take your mind of TTC Wink

Hippy whispers in diege's ear - test. And then runs off again.

By the way diege - yes Mitchell is rather lovely. If you saw my DH and him together you'd be forgiven for thinking they were separated at birth - ROFL.......

lou where are you? did you test again?

Just a quickie from work as office is pretty busy and people are hovering...
Hope you're OK Lou, have been thinking of you xx
Hippy that is very poignant about the poor baby in NZ - it certainly does put things into perspective Sad
Italian interesting to hear about your ideas on diet etc. Let me know how you captured the love for exercise! I am still managing the gym 3-4 times a week, but other than the classes which I love, the actual gym itself (ie, cardio ect) is a real slog. I do cycle there and back too though, which I enjoy.
Thanks for the list Curly and Hippy - I was also thinkling about GG just last night!
Well I think the vit B6 is working as still no af so that would be LP of 12 days which would be great for me (think 12 is ok? Confused I'm taking it alongside the agnus castus too so hopefully the 2 together have done soemthing. Temps still very high for me, and boobs also sore again, so not discounting pregnancy but I am too scared to test Blush. May as well wait for 18 high temps anyway, if I get anywhere near as far, before testing.

hippychick66 · 28/02/2011 09:35

Just heard on the news that the 1st victim of the earthquake in Christchurch was buried. He was a 5 month old baby. He was wearing a little santa outfit in the photo - how incredibly sad and awful. Life can be so hard Sad. It made me realise that not getting pregnant with a third baby isn't the worst thing that can happen - I needed to be reminded of that. Am feeling humble now Blush.

I meant to say:- lou at this early stage only test with very yellow strong first morning urine. Hoping that second line is good and dark. Loved the idea of your DH moaning about all the piss sticks to one of the cats.

italian those books do sound like a good idea - maybe don't try to read them all though!! I'd read the reviews on Amazon and choose that way. I think with some people food is very much caught up with emotions, self esteem etc. There was a lady on TV the other day who said she over eats because when she is eating she feels loved (by herself). I'm lucky in that my weight gain is all down to lazyness or greedyness and those things are easier to fix than 30 years of psycological links with food. I wish you well and hope that you get some answers, my love. XX

hippychick66 · 28/02/2011 09:10

I was just thinking of GG and her fabulous list last night. GG I don't know whether to wear a vest, a slanket or a pair of old baggy pants and I don't know whether to seduce hubbie or tell him to bog off Confused. Come back, matey. If you're reading I hope you're ok - we miss you for lots of reasons - honest Smile

So until GG comes back and does the in-depth list - i'm liking jolly's idea and will add my bit.

If you want to reply about the food thing and not clog up this thread I did start a new one in the big/slim/weight lose section of Mumsnet.

It is at

Thanks

lou really hoping for it all to all be ok Sad. I am really sorry if you have said this all before but have you looked into immunology issues? I can't explain it all because it is quite in-depth but there are theories that your body can try and remove the pregnancy in the way your body would fight off an illness. There are things you can do to help to change this. As I mentioned before I am going to have a few extra drugs in my final IVF cycle to try and make a difference. I am not sure how this all fits in with your history, because you had a baby. Anyway, I am really hoping it will all be fine. Sending you hugs and arrow prayers (sorry if that offends anyone who is not religious at all, I just don't know what else to do but pray it will all be OK). Hugs to you Lou.

OnEdge welcome. I was very sad to read about your little Emma. Congratulations on your three kids all under 3. Must be a handful but not unmanageable! Watching Cheaper by the dozen! Whenever I feel sad at only having one kid I watch the 12 (or rather 11 for those who have seen it) going mad and crazy and I just think hmmm, one is pretty good! For all those waiting for number one, I should say one is wonderful and all the best to everyone.

Panashe your wedding plans sound lovely. A red dress sounds beautiful, I am sure it would go very well at Christmas; just make sure you don?t look like Mrs Claus! I mean if you are pregnant! I wonder if red would go well on a beautiful autumn day, the leaves changing colours and falling all around and you emerge from the house in your stunning red dress (I?m there in my big hat! ? See how I did that, just put myself into your big day!). Anyway, I think it will be lovely. We had a wonderful wedding but actually not too expensive, we had our reception at a golf club and had a big church bit first in my church, I got everything except the groom at half price (I mean dress, shoes, tiara, veil ? yes I had the works!). Anyway, just dreaming. Watched the end of Tool Academy and the guy who won asked his girl to marry him. I was in tears. I love weddings. You?ve got months to plan, hope it will be just super dooper! Grin

BB no idea about the school thing. I lived in London (suburbs) as a child and teenager and was very happy to get away! I live in the countryside now and love it. But then I don't have a high powered job at all.

Think I might have an ear infection, not sure, keep feeling vaguely dizzy, vaguely sick and having a headache. Going to see doc this week.

I have really enjoyed the Rosemary Conley classes and have got a real love for exercise now, which is fab, and which I was really keen to get out of the classes but I am afraid my eating problems are not great. I lost weight and now I am putting it all back on! My sis thinks I have problems with food, and I agree. Hmm It is weird because I am very happy now and very fortunate to have a great hubby and lovely daughter, and a job I like, my faith is important to me my family are close by and I am fit (ish) and well. But as a kid I was very shy and I've had anxiety in the past, and a touch of OCD! So maybe, just maybe I am eating for comfort, for acceptance, I am not sure for what! Anyway, I am going to try and get a book from the library, anyone heard of it these books, Eating the Moment: 141 Mindful Practices to Overcome Overeating One Meal at a Time by Pavel Georgievich Somov? Or Overcoming Overeating: It's Not What You Eat, It's What's Eating You! by Lisa Morrone? Or Overcoming Overeating: How to Break the Diet/Binge Cycle and Live a Healthier, More Satisfying Life by Jane R. Hirschmann and Carol H. Munter? Or, finally, The Food and Feelings Workbook: A Full Course Meal on Emotional Health by Karen R. Koenig? Has anyone heard of any of the authors? Which one is better?

Nothing fertility wise to mention so will stop warbling!

Love to all.

Baby dust to all.

I am 42 and have two boys aged 7 and 10 already and we decided a bit late it would seem to squeeze one more in. Now 8 months in one MC at 10 weeks and nothing doing, this is probably the last month and I don't think I can do this one on my own again. I am 1 dpo I think, so there it is. I have been reading this thread and dithering for a while and have fingers and toes crossed for Lou, this whole ttc thing has turned me into an eternal optimist and you are due so much luck, thanks for listening . Oh and apologies in advance my spelling is rubbish
