alba hello my lovely - good to see you. Give that baby a squeeze from auntie Hippy. XX

hippychick66 · 04/03/2011 11:57

lou Nursey, (I love calling you that - I had a soft toy of a nurse when i was a child and she was called Nursey Grin)I just tried to book my smear for next week. i was gonna do it after I'd finished bleeding but before I ovulate. The receptionist said I have to be 14 days after I've started bleeding. That is no good for me cos I usually ovulate about day 12. If I had ovulated and something was trying to implant would a smear have a bad effect?? I said to leave it and am thinking of just waiting a couple of months but day 14 is never gonna really suit me. I thought you just had to have no blood but she said only a mid cylce scan will give a true result - true???

My first bloody waking thought is that i hope Lou and Diege are still preggers - arrgghh this is gonna be a long 8 months!

ps. Tank I thought of you today as well. I assume no news is good news Grin

AlbaDeTamble · 04/03/2011 11:47

Beattie, I got my last BFP at 13dpo, and it wasn't FMU. Fingers crossed for you.

Diege and Louise I'm so pleased for both of you!

Hope the run of good news continues a while... though I can tell you that looking after a newborn at 42 is totally exhausting!! Well worth it though. Hope you all get to experience utter knackeredness too Smile

BeattieBow · 04/03/2011 11:31

well I couldn't poas this morning due to darkness and desperateness to get to the loo. So off the hook.

But actually, even though I do actually know that my af is on it's way, I have the vaccinations this afternoon and it's not arrived. So am slightly worried about risking it. But it's not really worth poas during the day is it on 13dpo?

hippychick66 · 04/03/2011 11:22

shandy I don't think it's selfish at all to want a 3rd (I do too). I struggled a bit with this but basically, I feel that I want the people on here who haven't yet had a take home baby to get pregnant and experience it all BUT that doesn't mean that those of us who have children/ a child already can't hope for more.

I try to be as accepting as possible and say that if I don't get a 3rd I will always be grateful for my 2 boys but I still get moments when I really long to do it all again. We vary on here between trying for no 1 and trying for no 6!!! All we can do is shag a lot, take the folic acid and pop on here for a catch up Grin You're very welcome to join us - don't forget to add your name to jolly's list.

shandybass · 04/03/2011 10:15

Thank you all for the welcome. It'll take me a while to remember you all but all I can say is that I seem to be in good company.

I'd been feeling a bit selfish for Ttc for a no 3 and feeling so disappointed that it's not happening. Also I'm tempted to poas this am despite having af last week just because I'm feeling washed out!

Italiangreyhound · 04/03/2011 00:36

shandybass welcome.

Hippy I know what you mean about not judging others. A friend had a baby recently and I was so jealous but now I find out the baby has some health problems Sad and I realise it is not all as easy as I think when I see people with their bubs!

Sorry, too tired to post. Must get off to bed. Brew

Love to all, and arrow prayers for any who want them.

XXXX Wink Grin

hopefulgum · 03/03/2011 23:33

Beatie I know what you mean about a tiny little bit of hope. I actually poas yesterday, after AF because my AF was over so fast this time, and i felt so wiped out tired yesterday. I knew it was 100% unlikely, but wasted a stick anyway and had the expected bfn. I know...I sound like a complete nut. Oh, yeah, that's right, I am! I must be, to be ttc at 44 when I already have 5 kids.

But, really, I'm not totally mad, just sure that it is the right thing to do for our family.

However, the last couple of days, I have been trying to be calmer about it all.To be less negative and to try and let go of the fear surrounding my age, the miscarriage etc. It's the fear that is holding me back,in a way, making me feel stagnant. I realise I must continue to live, to enjoy what I do have.

As you all know, it's difficult to live like that when you live your life in 2 week increments. It kind of stagnates everything, while you wait... I guess the trick is to "keep moving" whilst waiting IYSWIM.

Deige how are you feeling lovey? I was glad to hear about the yucky taste in your mouth. That was always reassuring for me. Will you get an early scan?

Lou, glad to hear you are being closely monitored. I hope it helps you to relax.

I spoke on the phone, yesterday, to my friend who just had a brand new baby. He's a week and a half old. I could hear his little baby snuffles as we talked. God, that tugged at the heart strings. She had a rather traumatic birth - lots of bleeding, which no one can explain to her. Baby was born in 1 hour and 40 mins (total labour!!!). Luckily they are both fine, but she's very tired and emotional at the moment - very understandable.

Beattie and Hippy, sorry to hear you are both out. Fingers crossed we all get up-duffed this month.

Beattie, did you have the vaccinations? When we were planning our trip to Bali I was ttc and was advised to have some vaccinations to protect me and baby (if i had gotten pregnant by then). I got the script and asked the pharmacist if it was safe. He said yes and I bought it ($140, 3 years ago). I took it back to my workplace and the school nurse was going to give it to me. I did some research on the net and found out it was contraindicated for women ttc - that I would have to stop ttc for 3 months if having the vaccine. I was surprised my doctor and pharmacist didn't pick that up! I took it back to the pharmacy and got my money back thank goodness. In the end I didn't get any shots, nor did the family (too expensive for 6 people) and I didn't go(too pregnant) and the rest of the family were fine. I'm sorry I can't remember which vaccine it was. But when you get it done, it might be worth checking it in relation to ttc.

Sorry, that was bloody long winded!

Italian, when will you start the egg donor process? It must be getting closer. How exciting.

Hi to everyone else.

Oh Deige, so nice to hear of a 49 year old preggo. What's you EDD by the way?Is it around my birthday(10th)?

lia66 · 03/03/2011 23:15

Hi all, just coming in to say hello.

louise so glad to hear they are looking after you, fx that the next 2 wks go by very quickly for you.

diege well done lovey, huge congratulations, may the next 8 mths be calm and boring for you, (in the nicest possible waY)Grin

beatie fx for you, as we know it's not over till fat lady sings.

hippy hi, and bollox to bloody period Angry. Keep at it, remember how despondent I was. xx

curly again, good they're prepared to get some tests going.

Hi to everyone else. Got a sicky dd (3) down here with me, dh away on business and my eldest dd is 16 tomorrow. OMG, she could get married Shock. Tjis time 16 yrs ago, I was in a lavender bath.

BeattieBow · 03/03/2011 20:51

curly my dr told me that dh was unlikely to go infertile if he had already produced children. Not sure how accurate that is, but she seemed sure of it and didn't test my dh's sperm!

diege I think I'm out - this is following previous months patterns, and am only 11 or 12 dpo. I would expect af to turn up tomorrow on previous months experiences. Of course until it does actually show up, you can't help letting a tiny little bit of hope keep creeping in. aargh.

I haven't poas yet this month though - perhaps I'll waste one tomorrow!

Curlylox · 03/03/2011 20:08

Hello and welcome shandybass, I still like to drink shandy once in a blue moon.
Got blood tests results well not all of them but what I got so far were normal, which is good news I suppose. Bur Dr wants me to do another blood test on cd21 again and she also mentioned about DH having his sperm tested......mmm I shall be broaching that subject in the next 30 mins after he's had his shower and he's relaxed etc Dr also said that after that result she'll refer me to a gynaecologist to do further tests for sub fertility as it's not called infertility anymore Confused. You learn something new everyday eh.
Sorry about self indulgent post....need to talk to someone Grin

Hi Shandy welcome X

I m fine Diege you ok?

Spoke with EPU i ve got a scan 2 weeks today to see if they can see the sac.If so they will start the pregnanyl as soon as.Here we go again.

Hope everyone is well XXXXXXXXXXX

nicole333 · 03/03/2011 19:01

Hi all, another quick update, please forgive me Blush Hi to shandy

The blood was definetly from the vag lou and when I say it wasn't like AF i mean, it was blood like if you had cut yourself. Very red, thin and drippy! It hasn't continued, but, brace yourselves for TMI......exercise can sometimes make my EWCM appear. This morning, whilst out with the dog i felt slightly wet! when i came home and had a wee, I could see what it was, even though it had dried by then. There was 2 small blobs of coloured CM. A little brown in colour. I have never had CM at any other time than OV so don't know what's going on there. Also, the blood doesn't seem like implantation?

Diege · 03/03/2011 18:45

Welcome shandybass (I rememebr drinking those!).
BB are you absolutely sure you're 'out' for this month?

BeattieBow · 03/03/2011 15:20

glad to be of help shandy and welcome!

that's interesting about the LP diege. I did know hat day 1 isn't until proper bleeding has started, but always worried that my LP was a bit weak if I was spotting etc, but interesting to know that we all go through that process.

I hope my blumming period starts soon though - I'm on clomid and follicle tracking again next week and I need to fit appointments in with work etc.

shandybass · 03/03/2011 15:05

Hi I'm new here and have tried posting several times but got distracted! Where to start. I've been Ttc without any science for about 6months and with the science for about 3 months and no luck.

I had advice on here from Beattiebow and others, sorry if I got your name wrong, and bought the Taking charge of your fertility book, bought opk, clear blue and thermometer. Its all quite something and can't believe I didn't pay more attention before to my body. Better late than never I guess at 40.

Anyway opk seemed to work showing a blue line around cd11 both times, have started temping this cycle and it's all v high at the moment 97+ and has been since I started on cd5. I'm trying to observe cfm but not really too sure of any differences. I wish it was all a bit easier. I haven't been for tests.

Anyway I better post or this will end up a marathon too. I have dd1 and dd2 but really keen to have no 3, greedy I know!

Diege · 03/03/2011 15:02

Meant to say earlier that there is a woman on the 'due in Nov' thread that I am lurking on that is expecting her 4th and she is 49!!!!!

Diege · 03/03/2011 14:16

Hello! I have to say Lou that I also thought of you when watching this week's One Born Every Minute. Good that they had a different angle than the usual biths they show. How are you feeling today?
Hippy I'll admit that for months I thought it was Iowa you were moving to...it was only when people started writing The IOW that I clicked Blush Sorry about af Sad; re: spotting I think Toni says that shouldn't be taken as shortening luteal phase if I remember correctly? Ie. womb lining starts breaking down anyway if egg not fertilised, so same process going on in everyone, just that some have spotting to show thsi, others not? I may be wrong but I'm sure I've read that soemwhere Confused
Back to Health and Safety meeting - nothing worse to sit throguh after 5.30am start...

louisesh · 03/03/2011 10:58

Hippy my sister told me about that couple said they reminded them of us.That was a lovely story .Sorry af is here Sad but back to it this month......Grin

BB hope af comes soon.Next cycle is beckoning XXX

Nicole where is your dischafge from? Definatly vaginal or maybe uretheral?

Jolls Hi...Go for it if you can or if your hubby is "up" for it!!!!!

Hi Curly X

Hi Italian i m good.My cat is fine thanks plodding on XXX

Diege today we are pregnant.Good for you with signs and symptons.I don t particularly get any which is normal for me.

Hi Panashe hope you re ok?

Hi Much,Tina and everyone else.

All fine here just in touch with EPU to see when i can be scanned. My consultant said i need to be scanned asap.Awaiting them to ring back.Been swimming this am at our new gym very posh much nicer than where we were going before.

hippychick66 · 03/03/2011 10:00

I know what you mean BB once you've had the BFN and the spotting starts you wanna get the crappy bit over and have another chance and you have to wait 4 days for it to just start!!!

I watched one born every minute yesterday and saw the couple who'd had all the sadness. When i first saw them I thought they looked like everything would always go right for them (they just looked perfect) - and then you found out they had lost one child 6 weeks after she was born and then had a still born at 29 weeks and I realised that surprise surprise you really can't judge a book by it's cover. She was in having a c section and she looked so worried (who can blame her). I cried my eyes out when she got her healthy baby at the end. I must stop assuming that just cos people look like their life is perfect it means it is. Blush

BeattieBow · 03/03/2011 09:51

hippy I have the same. while on the one hand I think it's good the LP is ok, on the other I just want to move onto the next cycle!

I've had cramping for 3 days now too. grr.

hippychick66 · 03/03/2011 09:42

crossed posts with you curly. Good morning to you, all the best at the docs. X

hippychick66 · 03/03/2011 09:41

Everyone is very mysterious about where they live or are moving to - except ME - I am moving to the IOW - there I've finally said it - so now you all know Grin

LOL at jolls legless chickens and italian's hamster calling in to a phone in show GrinGrin

nicole anymore odd bleeding???

My AF finally arrived today 14 days after I ovulated. I would normally be quite pleased with that LP but not sure it is quite so good if you've had brown or pink spotting for 3/4 days before that Hmm It was weird cos I'd got so used to just seeing this rusty old stuff when I wiped and suddenly this morning it was ahhhhhhh red blood like a scene from a horror movie. Anyway will count this as day 1. I MIGHT book my smear now I know when i can do it (fingers crossed the feckin' alarm doesn't go off).

italian I know it's not as bad as a snake but I still wouldn't wanna find a stick insect in my bed!

jolls You could try one more SWI due to the EWCM (are you SURE it's not sperm Blush) but as you're hubbie was up so early it might be best not to push him too far. yum underfloor heating sounds fab. MY DH wants to build a house when we move and he is forever trying to get me into discussions about underfloor heating, re-claimed rain water, generating your own electricity etc. oh flippin' heck - I just wanna move to a house that's already built - yawn yawn.

I'm popping into my old work today to say goodbye to one of the preggos who is off to have her baby. Not the one who had all the trisomy stuff. I am genuinly pleased for her and although of course I'm a bit jealous I realise that it's her turn now. And why not, it's her first and I've had 2 already.

Thinking of Lou and Diege this morning and hoping you both feel really sick - ha ha.

Curlylox · 03/03/2011 09:26

Morning ladies! My my we are a chatty lot aren't we but am loving it. I make a point to log and read daily (saddo) to keep up but may not always post. Even though we've never met it's great to share our ups and downs as we endeavour to reach our common goal. Muchlove I know how dishearten you must feel but try and pop in when you can please and if you feel up to it, even just to let us know you're ok.
Off to physio now, then will be walking Lucy later before I go to my one to one pilates class. From there pick up dd from school then straight to Drs for blood test results (yikes). CD7 for me today, so will be poas later Smile
