orange yes, I feel like that too. Today I feel completely un-pregnant, can't picture it, can't 'feel' it.

I am trying so, so hard not to freak out and kind of doing that 'nothing to see here' thing.

Been asked today if I 'caught' easily both times and said yes (nice lady at work, very sympathetic, says all the right things and none of the wrong things) and I just managed not to say 'damned easy this time' as I have vowed to myself not to tell anyone at work until sixteen weeks.

Roll on Friday and fx for a heartbeat. Although I kind of wish I could just not have a scan til twelve weeks.

I am desperately trying to do the PMA and 'visioning' and 'affirming' thing

Wombat33 · 01/02/2011 11:14

Not a weirdo Grin vingegar is wonderful Grin

I'm off chocolate too - bleurgh - normally I'm the world's biggest chocoholic!

I'm paranoid about my colleagues suspecting but I don't think they do yet. The girl I share an ofofice with even commented the other day that she's so impressed that I have the willpower to just stop drinking tea and coffee for my January detox depite drinking loads before Hmm Grin

Nix I'm sure we can all relate to the paranoia! Scan was 5 days ago and allready i'm fretting again! 6 days til next one!

owlbooty · 01/02/2011 10:26

Train vibrations?? Time to tell him to shush, Pink :)

Nix boo, evil infection. Hope the doc sorts it all out for you.

I went off chocolate for weeks and weeks and have only just begun to find it edible again.

Womble - vinegar?? Weirdo :p

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 01/02/2011 10:07

Ps swab sounds like good plan nix. What infection do you think it is? Apparently I have strep b so that wi be something else to mental about if I get that far....

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 01/02/2011 10:06

nix straight from the tin??? Hehe Ming!! I am paranoid my colleagues know-is paranoia a symptom?? I am a bit bloated, haha about you just ignoring your tummy. Bet Boone says anything just in case you're just a bit fat these days!! Grin

Texted dr yest as was panicking about backache and cramps-he says it's v common and nothing to stress about.

Felt really pukey this morning, feel fine now though apart from an overwhelming urge to cry, for no reason. Anyone else get this???

OrangeGloss · 01/02/2011 08:54

I'm obsessed with burgers too! And off tea/coffee

Grin @ grot mags!!

Thanks I think I was a bit tired, DH sent me back to bed, I work flexi so can show up whenever. I think writing it down helped too.

I just wish I knew what dates to go by, then I could read and imagine what's happening

Nix I hope you get sorted at the docs. Funny imagining you sat at work pretending it's not happening! My work trousers only just fit, I think it's wind tho

nickstermum · 01/02/2011 08:46

pink i have devoured a few big macs, and a couple of happy meal hamburgers...but my food of choice was white plastic ham butties.. and weetabix... funnily enough havent had any weetabix for about 3 weeks! Still off coffee, chocolate, cant touch pasta, did sit and eat a whole tin of mackeral in tomato sauce the other day on its own...GO FIGURE?

Fresh OJ and fizzy stuff is good for nausea if anyone is suffering xx

nickstermum · 01/02/2011 08:43

orange i am paranoid at the min, even though scan was only over a week ago I am turning into a paranoid wreck! Doesnt get that much easier.... harder in fact as i knwo there is a bambino in there, with a heartbeat that was waving and backflipping... Still pretending not happening. even as i sit at HQ now typing this sporting a mega large belly im pretending its just normal... to very strange glances!! Off to docs tomor as i think i have a bacterial infec internally again :( rather just get swabbed for the sake of it, to be on the safe side!

So of course that is fuelling the paranoia.... because they cause late MC! FFS will i ever relax?!?!

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 01/02/2011 07:53

wombie, orange and nix I've also gone right off chocolate, just the thought of the milka I brought home makes me want to spew. However, a nice bag of salt and vinegar real McCoys would go down a treat and I don't normally eat crisps! Also can't stop thinking about burgers......

orange I've been trying really hard to visualise a little baby stretching out and growing-I know it doesn't look like a baby yet but it's a bit harder to visualise a little blob! Is it worth maybe getting one of those books that explains week by week what's going on? Helps me believe it's real-need something to cling onto as it'll be a long time until we get to see or feel anything moving I guess.

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 01/02/2011 07:47

Ha going for a pee before scan reminds me...... Went for pee yesterday at clinic, and saw there were loads of magazines on a shelf above the toilet, turns out they are all grot mags-must be where the boys get sent to do their semen sample Grin

He reckons the train vibrations are bad or something?? Can't find anything on google, no idea where he got that from.

Hope you all have a lovely day xx

OrangeGloss · 01/02/2011 07:02

Morning, I've been so tired lately I've been lurking all over the threads but falling asleep trying to type :(

Mamap and Pink good news about the scans, I hope that gives you some reassurance :)
Pink I know what you mean, the other thread scared me and couldn't read for a few days

Wombat I am obsessed with salt and vinegar crisps ATM too. And chocolate. Both of which I never ate before pg

I'm still waiting for scan dates, I'm now either 10+6 by dates or 9+3 by scan. I just hope they scan me sooner rather than later, but a date would be nice.
I'm having a paranoid moment thinking I can't imagine what's happening inside, so maybe it's nothing. Has anyone else felt like that

Ladybee · 31/01/2011 23:28

Sigh. Bladder not harder.

Ladybee · 31/01/2011 23:26

So pleased to see news off two good scans today.

All the reading I've done about scans says that at six weeks the fetal pole is visible and grows about 1mm a day and that's basically how they date - so at 6+1 you are looking to see something 1-2 mm long, 7 weeks would be 7-8mm, 8 weeks 1.4-1.5cm. Heartbeat should be visible by the time it reaches 8mm, but can be seen earlier depending on position, equipment, technician. That is all based on a 'normal' cycle ov at day 14.

hairy spots yes, bo is actually probably increased sensitivity to smell - soon most of the world will appear to have it too. But I find Mitchum generally pretty good to stop me hating being around myself.

pink train travel? Why? Have never heard that one - is he pulling your leg in v bad taste? long hours are hard with the tiredness but not nec dangerous - your body will channel all the pregnancy needs to it at the detriment to you, but if you can eat reasonably, drink enough liquid etc you should be fine. Hard though, I find disappearing for 5 mins into an obscure toilet and closing eyes can help with the afternoon sag.

For internal scans a full bladder seems to cause a problem - shadows or refection or something. I've quite often been told to go pee when I didn't think I needed to because harder was preventing sonog to see something.

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 22:03

I never had the tiredness, Pink , but then I am a lazy-arse who couldn't do a 7-7 day anyway Grin You do need to look after yourself though or you'll end up exhausted. At least if you're on the train you can chill out with a good book whilst you're travelling - much better than a long drive.

I kept my eyes shut at the scan until the dr said 'there's the heartbeat' - thankfully she said it almost immediately, no messing around. That was at 9 + 4 though.

Tis very exciting that there are so many of you joining our ranks :)

DachshundsWantPuppies · 31/01/2011 21:33

i don't feel like there's anything in there, let alone 2!

OP posts:
Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 21:18

Thanks mamap I will do for the next one. I didn't this time because their letter specifically said a full bladder was not needed and it was likely to be an internal scan Hmm I guess maybe they're just very confident they've got good machines at the private clinic?

Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 21:12

A week's not too long so it'll be good to have the reassurance of the early scan. How are you feeling? Do you feel like there's two in there?! Wink

Mamapower · 31/01/2011 21:10

Pink relieved but be happier when I see a bean with heartbeat

Dachs twins woud be ace Grin let us know when the results are in

Hairy you'll be fine, honestly, muser told me I may not see anything but a sac and I didn't so I didn't panic...

wombat top tip, drink plenty of water and don't pee prior to the scan. fill your bladder as much as you can take... it pushes up as it fills so they can get a clearer picture.

nix 13 weeks... I can't wait to be in your shoes... every day seems like a week at this stage!

emoo if you want to def see a heart beat, I would go for 7+ as it vary's greatly from bean to bean and a day can make a huge difference in that week. That said, if you are menatlling, perhaps go for one at 6+ and if no heartbeat at that point request one 7 - 10 days later.

waves to hk preeeeety owl lady and lemon

DachshundsWantPuppies · 31/01/2011 19:24

pink i get the results tomorrow, so I have no idea yet! although I'd love twin dachshies!

pretty don't get excited - - they put two back in but there's no reason to think they both took...

I guess I'll know more at the scan

wombie I know 6 is borderline for a heartbeat but at least I'll be able to see whether there is anything growing inside the sac and if I don't see a heartbeat then at least I've only got about a week to wait for the scan after that.

OP posts:
Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 19:21

Pink - they said they'd give the external one a go first and if they couldn't see anything then they'd do the dildo cam, but they could see HB and take measurements with the abdominal one so I think they decided there was no need to put me through an internal - I wasn't too disappointed about that!

When it comes to trying to identify abnormalities I might suggest an internal if it's still clearer even at that stage (not sure it is once you get a certain number of weeks in??) but at the moment it was really just a question of is there anything there or not.

OOH I hope it is twins for Dachs that would be so exciting!

hairyfairylights · 31/01/2011 19:15

I just checked my diary ... Last time they saw no heartbeat at five plus six but did see it at seven plus six.

So as ling as they see an egg sack that'll be ok at six weeks.

I will be staring at the wall though.

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 31/01/2011 19:12

dachs have you got your first Hcg results back yet? What's the number? If it's big nix might have psychic powers!!

wombat it's weird they didnt do dildo cam for you-think you get a much better picture that way.

nickstermum · 31/01/2011 19:10

Pink I don't think it's dangerous, you just have to make sure you catch up on rest. Relax on train, have chill out time. They need to do a health and safety meet with you further down the line, but if you are worried take the odd day off. I work pretty long hours and drive distances also, plus Ds wakes me through the night... It's not dangerous foe bean cos bean takes from mummy what it needs, and it's mummy that suffers!!! X

nickstermum · 31/01/2011 19:07

Pv that's my fault re twin beans!! Dacha had 2 embies put back in... Potential twin beans I should have said!!

Wombat33 · 31/01/2011 18:56

Ooh thanks for the crisps and pickles ladies! Grin

Keeping everything crossed for those with scan s coming up xxx Tis all sooo nerve wracking! What I didn't realise when I had mine last week was that the bean is so small that they can 'see' the sac without being deep enough to 'see' the bean iyswim? So they started the scan and she found my uterus, pressed a bit harder and the sac appeared as this huge empty black sppace and both DH and I thought "S~*t!" and then she pressed a bit harder still and there, hiding away at the back was a grainy blob. But if I breathed or spoke the movement of my muscles would make it disappear from the screen for a feww seconds. It probably only took her about 15 seconds to find it but it felt like an absolute eternity and never having had a scan that showed anything other than nothing before, I was pretty terrified! Now counting down the day until the next one on 7 Feb (week today - eek!!).

Also got a call from MW today arranging booking in appointment on 19 Feb. Still can't believe I'll ever get that far!

Dachs 6+1 will be boarderline for heartbeat won't it? I.e. you might see it but it wouldn't mean there's anything wrong if you don't?
