orange from talking to friends and my doc the other day, the puking can start to ease as soon as the hcg levels start to fall as the placemtb takes over, but some women get lucky and their bodies just get used to the hormones. Can start to stop as early as 10weeks - apparently it gives lots of women a panic before there scans. Hope you're one of the lucky ones because it doesn't sound like fun at the moment!

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 03/02/2011 07:46

dacha any news on your bloods? Xx

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 03/02/2011 07:19

Hey Tony and orange it's good to hear that two people who I'm sure are usually substantially more rational than me have felt similarly about pregnant peeps!

Tony identical twins would be even cooler!!! It sounds like you're managing to stay v chilled about things which is fab!

orange that sounds like a gruesome start to your day!!! Not sure I should share this really but my mum had full on day and night barfing which continued all the way, and she was still puking while in labour!! Think thats v v rare though! From lurking around some of the other pregnancy threads, it looks like theres a common scary patch around 16 weeks where symptoms disappear but you might not feel any movement r anything for another few weeks. No personal experience though as this is my first! Thanks for sweets tip, will give it a try. I am v worried that yesterday I must have eaten about 10,000 calories and not good ones!! DHs eyes were like saucers when I told him what I'd eaten but at the moment I can only stomach junk food like pizza and crisps Blush will try harder on fruit today as that seemed to work ok too.

OrangeGloss · 02/02/2011 22:10

Pink I've discovered boiled sweets, so the jelly makes sense to me. A colleague who knows my story was telling me about the kicking, I went home and cried, thinking it seems so far removed from me and my stage of pg
Welcome Silverangel I'm not an expert, but wonder if it's just still a bit too early?
Hairy I hope a day off helps, good that you have the beginnings of symptoms, which will hopefully develop into full on barfing Grin
Welcome too Choccie sorry for your loss, glad you are having some early scans for reassurance

I managed to be fine when I got up, got into the shower, and had major puking - in the shower Blush Grin got out of shower continued puking in toilet to which DH started talking to me about sandwiches - mid-puke!

Could one of you more experienced ladies give me some symptom advice? I know from Nix that sore boobs ease off and should stay big, but what about sickness? I'm paranoid it'll all go before next Friday

tonythetyger · 02/02/2011 20:35

Dachs the only symptoms I have is my breasts are slightly sensitive (but only in the sort of situations that lead to SFF) and my skirts feel tight - but I'm not sure if that's due to a big meal on sunday night and general fatness Grin

I don't know if the hcg is more with twins but I got 2 negative and 2 positive tests so it can't have been that high. I've thrown out all my cheapy opk and pg tests as none of them gave the right answer.....

Pink the dr thought they might be identical as it looked like it was only one egg. No twins on either mine or dh's side.

I know what you mean about people sharing things like that. It's not helpful. I was freaked out to be in an AN clinic at 5+2 with a whole load of pg women. A mixture of feeling I don't belong and I don't want to be around them. I think I'd better get over this feeling.

I have had people share experiences of mc with me who've then gone on to have a healthy baby. It's all very well initially but at the end of the day everyone's situation is unique and their particular challenges are not yours nor yours theirs. For example the pain of recurrent mc is different from the pain of failing to conceive. The worries and anxieties someone in that position feels are centred on different things which might be why I'm more relaxed at this point.

As far as I'm concerned it's a miracle that I've finally conceived (and a double one at that!). It's a further miracle that I've got past the point when I mcd last time. In fact, the whole of pregnancy from conception to birth is a miracle and all I can do is hope and pray and try and look after myself in the meantime.

Yes we are both terrified of having SFF (him more than me). We meant to ask about it at the scan but the twins put it completely out of our minds.

hairyfairylights · 02/02/2011 19:45

dachs my sister, who's lovely son is now five weeks old had ivf and never had any symptoms at all during her pregnancy. not a single one. Just a wernt glimmer of hope, hope it helps.

nickstermum · 02/02/2011 18:17

Me and you are like the witches of the thread today!! Grin

Welcome chocs..chill out Grin xx

Mamapower · 02/02/2011 17:24

Hi Choccie I would normally save the pep talk for after I've known you for at least, oh 2 posts, BUT, read the post I left for pink : Stress (and for that matter sleep deprivation) will not help your bean. yoga? acupuncture?

Good work pinkster

Righteo, I am being a domestic goddess tonight, must dash, the fish awaits my undivided attention Grin

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 02/02/2011 17:19

Hello to silver and choccie! Silver, I've been eating loads and not healthy stuff either..... Can only face junk which is weird as normally don't touch stuff like crisps! Choccie a private scan sounds like a fab idea, anything to keep the sanity going!!

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 02/02/2011 16:54

I have given myself a talking to and am much more zenned. Thanks ladies, you are absolutely sanity savers Grin

Wombat33 · 02/02/2011 16:24

Hello Chccie and welcome. Feel free to fret away in here with us - as you will no doubt have picked up - we're all mad as a box of frogs Grin (never quite knew what that meant but given how jumpy we all are it seems apt) Grin

nickstermum · 02/02/2011 16:22

and of course everyone else on the TTC fred!

hairyfairylights · 02/02/2011 15:53

mama of course I do! [silly]

hug for you pink.

I've deliberately not told my friend the hr person as she will so put her foot in it. Last time she kept telling me " ooh imagine the staffs faces when announce it at a staff meeting at twelve weeks" etc and I just kept saying "if I make it that far" and "I won't be making an announcement at any staff meeting"

I am at home in bed and have booked thu and fri off. Lots of rest for me.

nickstermum · 02/02/2011 15:47

Chill out FFS lovely, ZEN is good for the bean Grin raging is NOT! Grin

chocciechip · 02/02/2011 15:45

Hi all. Can I join you ladies? I'm a whisper away from 40 and if this works, will be my first (and probably only) child. I had a MMC and a MC in 2009, and then a year of TTC again through 2010 (which was dreadful). 2011 and I am now 7 weeks (as of tomorrow). I was given an early scan at 6 weeks and we saw a heartbeat - I got such a shock because I was fully expecting it to have failed that I cried so hard the sonographer had to stop. We've been promised another scan at 9 weeks. But within a day of feeling reassured I began worrying again (with my MMC the baby died at 6 weeks but I only started bleeding at 10 weeks.. so my thinking is, 'so what that I saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks'). No real symptoms - boobs a bit bigger but that's it (and they seem less big than a couple weeks ago). I'm now paying for a private scan next week Tues to try get me to the 9 week scan in one piece. I am maybe getting 3 hours a sleep at night, such is my worry. And bizarrely - or maybe not - my DH is in a worse state than I am. So, there's no way I am a graduate yet ... and no way I can even dare to think I ever will be at this stage.

Mamapower · 02/02/2011 15:44

Pink this room isn't exempt from the haddock you know!! Where the hell has your Zen gone... c'mon pal, grab my hand and repeat after me, ''it will be ok, it will be ok, it will! And if I keep stressing like this, it'll do my bean noooooooo good'' Chin up babe, big hugs xx

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 02/02/2011 15:40

Thanks everyone, you are all lovely. She knows I only told her now cos she was asking if I'm going to a reunion dinner in March and the answer is yes if the bean is ok, and hell no if it hasn't made it. I'm just gonna give her a wide berth for at least another fortnight. I don't know what's wrong with me today-I've become totally taken over by a fear that its all going to go wrong...... Urgh early night for me tonight I think!!!

nickstermum · 02/02/2011 15:14

Mmmm your friend probably thinks she is giving you hope that once you have got past the scary stage you will have the exciting & reassuring bit to follow, she also probably thinks that cos you have told her, you are ok about talking about pg now... maybe she thinks that its ok to get excited... cos although she may still be worried about upsetting you she is having a baby and had a loss so really is probably incredibly excited about it and wanting to share some of that excitement with her chum?

I hid my excitement from my friend when she was mc'ing whilst i was pg, and i felt very guilty...but as soon as she was pg again it was excitement...right lets chat about things - maybe shes so caught up in her excitement its made her be a little tactless?

pink you are diffed, its all going right, where has the positive poisson gone?! It will happen lovely - stay positive

dachs my symptoms come and go too...its normal xx

hairy PMSL at the knickers Grin

owlbooty · 02/02/2011 14:41

That sounds like a good idea, Pink - just tell her. She's probably thinking it would be encouraging and cheering for you and means it with good intentions.

Dachs I would have given my life-savings for a crystal ball :) BUT - I can tell you that this horrible constant paranoia and mentalling does end. Because I am not stressing any more. If, god forbid, there was the slightest sign something was going wrong then I'd be instantly stressing again but post-12 week scan and nuchal fold/bloods etc it really, honestly, does get better. And you lot are all getting one day closer to 12 weeks with every day that passes :)

See, I've got my pom poms out now

Sorry full rant alert but still raging. Seriously, if things were the other way around, I can't believe I would be sending her texts saying how amazing and reassuring it is feeling your baby kick from 18 weeks blah blah. I really don't care what its like for her-I want my bean to be ok and I won't know whether thats the case for months and months yet :( rahahshshs WTF is wrong with me?????? I might well end up in her position in a few months, why am I so convinced I won't???

Mamapower · 02/02/2011 14:29

Dachs , Owl is right lovely; I have been reading(books, NOT GOOGLE) around the subject and they all concur with our wise owl that morning sickness wouldn't kick in until about week 8 for the average gal. Good luck with the tests.

Hairy I feel bad now, you do know I was laughing with you honey, don't you? I'm sorry you are teary and having a shit day. Things will hopefully seem brighter tomorrow and a day off for some R&R is probably just what you need, big hugs lovely Smile

pink perhaps you could tell your friend that you are a little bit on edge and until you reach 12 weeks you'd rather keep baby talk to a minimum...for fear of tempting fate. She's your best mate, she's excited and means well hon and I'm sure would totally understand your hesitation about getting too excited and drawn into those type of conversations.

Hi Silver (lovely name btw), that sucks, it does vary from area to area, I seem to be one of the lucky ones. Private scans are about £70 and I wouldn't book one before 7 weeks as they may see so little you'll end up paying for another a week later for reassurance.

DachshundsWantPuppies · 02/02/2011 14:24

pink People really should think a bit more, shouldn't they! You'll get there soon enough - you've already seen a nice healthy bean with a heartbeat, which is a good start :)

OP posts:
DachshundsWantPuppies · 02/02/2011 14:20

owl Thanks for the reassurance but I think until I see a scan with a heartbeat I'm going to carry on freaking out! (Although I have no idea why because I know it's all a load of rubbush anyway and every pregnancy is different.) I had sore boobs with the MMC and that one didn't work out, so even if I did have them then I'd still be paranoid.

Hey ladies - I've got a fab idea for a great money making scheme - all we need to do is invent a time machine that enables pregnant women to fast forward a couple of months to get to the first scan. We'd make a fortune!

Unfortunately my addled old tax accountant brain wouldn't have been able to do it when I was studying astrophysics, let alone now, so i'm going to have to leave one of you to put the machine together and then just take credit for the idea! :)

wombie I know pg women get cravings but that one is seriously weird. (I can't stand olives, I was much more with you on the salt n vinegar crisps)

silver welcome and good luck with everything :)

I went to the toilets for a big cry. People are looking at me even weirder now.

Am just so pissed off with her-how can she have forgotten how scary it is to be at this stage?
