I LOVE gypsy wedding tv program!

Chloe sorry you're feeling so rubbish, I hope it's pg symptoms not chlomid
Eggy sorry for your loss. My bleeding tailed off after about 9-10 days, but my friends took a lot longer. Sorry you're getting rubbish service from your GP, I hope it settles down soon. Collie is right it is exhausting, I underestimated how much
Pink sorry about your commute I hope your blood makes it to Chicago ok
Mamap what an awful dream, I've had one of those, I think Nix has too. I hope you can shake it off
Knitter well done on the diet! Hopefully you won't need FF and your learning will have been for nothing Grin
AandR I don't blame you for turning down the herbs. And for the emotions, I just saw a baby on telly and bawled my eyes out

For anyone that remembers from November, I got my exam results today, 75% and 82%, needed 50% to pass Grin

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 02/02/2011 20:47

aandr I was going to a clinic in London to investigate the MC before I got the BFP. They are now monitoring me and taking regular bloods, and one of the things they're testing for is natural killer cells. Apparently there is only one lab in the world that can test for it (??!?) and it is in Chicago so that's why it's going on a little holiday!

SMEP is the 'sperm meet egg plan' - a few pages back (probably quite a lot of pages back now though!) there's a link to an extensive list of actions to assist the swimmers to do the trick!

pooch I'm on asprin, they only told me to start taking it after the BFP.

youremindmeofthebabe · 02/02/2011 20:47

Xpost with everyone!

youremindmeofthebabe · 02/02/2011 20:46

Tis sperm meets egg plan aandr . Would do a linky but can't on iPhone. If u google it you'll find it, if not I'll link tomorrow. Basically swi every other day, and then when you get pos opk xo 3 days, day of rest, and then final day of swi. And rest!

ZamMummyInGabs · 02/02/2011 20:45

Hello everyone, SMEP here too...off to bed now (it's half past ten, btw) Grin
AandR SMEP link
And started on the pink GF today, in addition to 1000mg EPO and 100mg B6 (!)

Pooch28 · 02/02/2011 20:39

A&R - I think we may be twins separated at birth (though that's probably the wrong comparison in the circumstances) - had a 12 week mmc in Oct then ERPC then chemical pregnancy in Dec. Still trying to deal with it all.
Re the aspirin taking which has come up - I've been referred to a Consultant gyno due to no. of mc's - she said DON'T take aspirin until you get a BFP as it doesn't help with lining/implantation which makes sense as it thins the blood but is OK in low doses if you do get a BFP. (I had been taking it as a couple of friends had been recommended it who'd had mc's but in my stupidity hadn't asked clear enough qu's from my friends as to when they'd started it). Hope that helps for all those worried.

AandRMum · 02/02/2011 20:26

MummyA you really are a star! My af has been very normal so I am not worried about a particular problem - was more a general worry re mc and its effect. What you say makes sense and I feel better about it all.

Goooo Velvet hope your legs are up a wall whilst you type.

Pink have I missed something - why is your blood taking a trip to Chicago? ... oh and what is SMEP?

Velvetcu · 02/02/2011 20:00

tooooo much chat to catch up with!

Yes Izz we are trying to do SMEP, had loads of eggnog today and now have a fanjo (who's word was that??) full of swimmers as the bil went to the gym :) Usually ov on day 14/15 so fx for myself and everyone else!

Mamap i really hope us oldies get to join you this month!

Collie I take my temps whilst having a pee in the morning. That seems to work for me.

cep · 02/02/2011 19:57

just found some but the sugar level isn't that different. tropicana not from concentrate per 200 ml 16.2g, and tesco from concentrate 17.4g (pink g/f)

where can you get pressed juice from though. i couldn't find any of the juices i wanted as not from concentrate. at least not in tesco.

pink sorry you had an emotional day today, think it comes with the territory now though. Grin

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 02/02/2011 19:45

Oh and mummya good luck for tomorrow - think the counselling sounds a really positive step for you both, hope it goes well x

yrmotb SMEP has found its way to this house too, we started on day 7 (often don't ov until cd17 ish so we might also have started a bit early...ho hum). Fx it works! velvet were you doing SMEP too?

aandr good on you for not buying the herbs, I'm another one that would probably have caved in out of sheer awkwardness and then raged about it for hours Grin. Don't listen to any nonsense about your womb lining - as mummya says, if you're having regular not-too-light periods you should be fine. Well done on not breaking down re the baby in front of everyone too - how lovely for you to be there but I know I would be a bit Sad too

collie temping before you move makes a huge difference, takes a few days to remember to do it every day though!

cep sounds like a real concoction of fruit juices you're having...

I've lost track of whether anyone's poasing at the minute... Hadrian ?

pink big (((hugs))) sweetie, deep breaths, and no stressing!!!

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 02/02/2011 19:00

collie pop thermometer in your mouth before you have your first snooze, then snooze away! You'll get the hang of it-took me a couple of months before I got any data worth having!!

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 02/02/2011 18:56

aandr must have been v mixed emotions to hold a new baby, ESP with DD so close. Hehe good for you for not buying herbs-I'm with CEP would have bought them to avoid a fuss and whinged afterwards!! My acupuncturist reckons you body needs time to get back into balance after a MC but I think that's more to do with emotional/hormonal state rather than womb thickness. If you're interested, the Baby-Making Bible has lots on info on this. Defo steer clear of the herbs tho.

knitter DD hugs for you, glad it wasn't as bad as you were expecting.

I had a ridiculous meltdown today that involved running to the toilets in floods of tears, twice, today :/ feeling more zen now after having been extensively fish-slapped Grin

Have got to have more bloods taken tomorrow-being tested for natural killer cells and the blood has to make it to Chicago within a certain number of hours but bad weather delayed it. 7 more vials of blood!!!

Ah, noones touched the pizza

Collie2 · 02/02/2011 18:52

AandR so sorry for your losses. I mc in dec also, found out at 12 week scan and similar to you our baby had died at 9+3. Impatiently patiently waiting for AF to arrive. Your oz trip sounds well needed.

cep like nickster says think not from concentrate is better as you'll lose all the goodness in concentrate and it's generally healthier.

mummyA good luck tomorrow I hope it goes well for you both.

Thanks for all your replies re temps, I think it is most likely all over the place because I'm not doing it straight away when I wake up. 5 min must make all the difference. I'm terrible though in a morning I snooze the alarm at least 3 times!! I did wonder mummya if the rise could be my ov and I did get the opk out again Blush but it said no. dh thinks we should swi just in case (unsurprisingly)...... Wouldn't do any harm Grin !!

Got to go, cooking dinner for my mum and her dp and am so late.

I hope everyone else is ok?

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 02/02/2011 18:50

Never going to catch up on all the chatter today ( Angry at work taking up all my valuable Internet time) but big due date ((((hugs)))) to knitter , it does get better out the other side x

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 02/02/2011 18:47

nicks Grin

nickstermum · 02/02/2011 18:24

AR god are you an elephant?! (and not in the nose or thigh capacity Grin ) well remembered.... Yeah FF said effort was poor/low, temps confirmed ov 2 days later and swi on day 18 and the day after ov. Just v lucky i guess :) Its a bit bonkers that we have conceived x 3 swi day 18, and yet the cycles have all been diff lengths!

I may only have temped for 1 month, but i got lots of lessons off people on how to do it right, as i ws doing it wrong for the best part of the whole month Grin Grin
PS you like pregnant sex? Urgh!

cep if you buy pressed juice thats not from concentrate once all thats gone its much less in sugar content, plus its the real stuff :)

mummy good stuff things are a bit calmer

babes Izzy WAVES madly again, just for fun too Grin

MummyAbroad · 02/02/2011 17:51

AandR here is a quick Ashermans primer. Please bear in mind there have been very few studies done, most "facts" are unproven the knowledge that does exist has been built up over the last 10 years by around 20 doctors worldwide who specialise in AS and have shared info from thier own experiences with patients.

Your endometrium has a basal layer and from that a thick fluffy layer grows each month and is shed with your period. If the basal layer is damaged, by surgery or birth trauma or infection for example, then the fluffy layer cannot grow on top of it and there is no lining for an emby to emplant on. In an ERPC the idea is to suck out or scrape out the "tissues" and the fluffy layer but not touch the basal layer. Then as you say a new layer grows each month and is dependant on your current diet/health. (By the way it is estrogen that makes the lining grow more, which is why Agnus Castus and isflavins work, they are similar to estrogen)

If you have an endometrium with patches of basal layer missing, then the healthy endometrium can grow around and over the holes, so you can still end up with a healthy enough lining for an embryo to implant. However it has a better chance if it implants near a healthy patch as opposed to on or near a patch of damaged basal layer. If you have scar tissue (as I did) growing on the lining, this prevents the fluffy layer from growing and needs to be very carefully removed, after removal you may end up with "missing" or damaged bits of basal layer, but the lining should be able to grow as long as there is some healthy basal layer there (and the more the better)

So in summary, this lady doesnt know what she is talking about. In an normal ERPC there should be no damage done to the basal layer at all, and the lining should regrow normally. Cases like mine are very rare, and you would notice that something is seriously wrong immediately because you would have no periods or very light periods (panty liner only for 1 or 2 days) If you are at all worried a normal ultrasound scan done mid cycle will show a nice thick lining of 8-13 mm and it will grow so thick that it will form a "triple stripe" pattern. If you see this you know you have a 5* uterus! But generally if your periods are normal/heavy I wouldnt worry at all.

MamaP all is calm at the mo, DH and I have our couples sess tommorrow and I have one (different lady) just for me on Friday. Glad your scan went OK, FX for even better news at the next one xxx

cep · 02/02/2011 17:41

nix blimey there's loads especially in the pineapple juice. i really do need to be better on my diet to be drinking this as well (i say after finishing of the (shared) milkshake, having curry and veg spring rolls, and a bag of maltesers waiting for ds and i.)

aandr i'd be exactly the same, i'd probably buy it and then spend the journey home complaining. i just hope the pomj works on him, would be nice for something to get him going again. Grin i wonder how long it takes to work, i gave him a glass tonight, hope he's motors running by tomorrow. Grin

AandRMum · 02/02/2011 17:11

Thanks for all the comfort re lining. I might invest in some Vit E and a small amount of pineapple juice. I have such a need to please people sometimes I almost bought them just because she had gone to so much effort!! Oh Dear.

(warning: level of knowledge of how the body actually functions is fairly minimal) I was thinking that given that your lining is renewed each month, wouldn't the level of nutrients in the lining be a function of your health and what you are eating that particular month - and having had an ERPC - isn't that a bit like having a spring clean -carrying the metaphor on - if you consider your period to be like your regular weekly clean. How can you have a damaged lining from a mc (other than through the shocking incompetence of your mw MummyA), if the lining renews itself each month?

What Nix hasn't said re temping is that having become a world expert in all means of determining ov and getting dhs into order - she really just needed to have SWI on day 18 - remember that for DC3 Nix it will save you a fortune in OPKs, FF etc!

Talking warm seats - on our stopover in Korea I sat on a loo with a heated seat - might help with keeping your temperature high - but eugh!

CEP I might recommend bringing dh off the pomegranate juice after your BFP Grin. Sex after BFP is up there with warm loo seats until you are the size of a whale and horny as hell and then it may come in handy again! Grin

nickstermum · 02/02/2011 16:20

cep watch out for the concentrated stuff. I cant remember whether i read anything about it or whether its the sugar content.. dont know sorry! Re the temps - MummyA will advise best, but dont move a muscle before you take it! Slide the therm out from under your pillow and shove in your mouth gently!!

AR so glad you got to be there for your nephew being born... must have been lovely... other things aside of course!! Well done you Grin
Good to have you back, keeping your seat warm over on t'other fred xx
