A safe place for everyone on the TTC after MC rollercoaster. Welcome and come in - virtual wine and chocolate for all, and lots of support and hand-holding until you get your BFP!

The thread moves fast but don't let that put you off - feel free to come along and stay to chat; or dip in and out with any questions.

If you want to join the stats, just add yourself to the list:

WTTC = waiting to TTC
UCL = usual cycle length

Good luck to all - here's hoping for lots of healthy, sticky BFPs by the end of the thread

I think there is one just a page back

AandRMum · 04/02/2011 09:26

You will kick back into Nix esp knowing there is an end in sight. We need to do some more design work and enabling work (electricity, water, gas, phonelines etc onto the site) before we can really get stuck in, which is good in a way as I have a contract I need to finish before I can take on the build. I am going to be managing it - I am a PM but daunting to do it for your own home!!

Chloe I am glad you are being looked after - always hard when you don't know exactly what is going on inside. What powerful dreams - I hope it does help lift some of the grief and I am sure there is a baby waiting just around the corner.

blackat no worries I only just found that one out myself Sperm Meets Evg Plan. I am rubbish with links but

DesperateWannabe · 04/02/2011 09:22

Hi all, Just catching up I missed lots last night, but I just needed to take my mind off things. Had to work from home again yesterday (car trouble) and it doesn?t help my state of mind whatsoever. Anyway back in again today and feeling a bit perkier than the past couple of days???btw sorry for being a grump recently!!

Chloe I meant to reply yesterday to your awful experience when you where child minding. That is so sad I can imagine why you would think that and I would be so angry. I don?t blame you for taking time out. Dream v. strange. But I hope it means the tide is about to turn for you.

Mouse I hope you are ok? Sorry about the bumps and babies. Midweek shopping is the worst for them?but then having said that I just feel like they are EVERYWHERE now anyway. Stay out of coffee shops?.its like a new born baby mecca. Smile Your 50 opks made me giggle??but not enough to stop me from thinking about ordering more?.. 2 times did you say?. No 3 times!!! Lol I think maybe we should rename this thread OPKs anonymous . Grin

Blackkat sorry you find yourself here, especially after such a difficult road before. But welcome, everyone here is lovely.

LILI I know exactly how you feel waiting for AF. Its been 5 weeks and 3 days since my mc and I am doing my nut in waiting for it. I think AF with finally give me a bit of closure (hopefully) and mark a new start for me to focus my energies. I hope it comes soon for you.

MummyA how are you today? I hope you are feeling better in yourself. How was your counseling session.? I hope it went well for you both.

AandR Congrats on the planning permission?.it sounds very exciting indeed.

Hadrian Enjoy Thailand?.. I am not in the least bit jealous, honest Confused
Hmmm I like that everyone thought of me as a little soft smiley boarder collie. That suddenly seems nicer than a desperado. Grin to keep or change back?? Confused

OK, better go and get some work done!!

nickstermum · 04/02/2011 09:11

FANTASTIC NEWS on the planning permission AR do tell details....!

Oh how wonderful....Envy Grin

First friday full time week - shagged out already and not started yet!!! (and have had 3 days working at home with feet up... doesnt bode well does it?!?)

Blackkat · 04/02/2011 08:47

lily 06 just read your recent post and releived to hear it's not PCOS, (great unignored female medical condition) but I can imagine you just want to know what it is! It does sound like your consultant is saying all the right things. It's not many of them who will even offer progesterone support. Hopefully the clomid + progesterone will be the answer..best of luck x

Blackkat · 04/02/2011 08:40

Chloe 55 good luck with the Clomid it can work Smile, sorry to hear that you've had some bad side effects. Have they checked your progress (PG levels, scan) to make sure you're on the right dosage? I had to really hassle to make sure I got blood tests each month, but it meant I got the right dosage, eventually. I took 50mg for 3 months and then upped to 100mg - only side effects were feeling hot (and not in a good way) at nighttime. I took the Clomid just before I went to bed so that if I felt rotten it'd be hopefully when I went to sleep.

lily06 thinking of you waiting to start the clomid, not an easy time, just take it easy and be kind to yourself. Easier said than done I know Grin

AandRMum - SMEP? Sorry still not good on all the acronyms.

Hope you all have a good day Smile

lily06 · 04/02/2011 08:26

AandR wow that sounds amazing. I've not been to Kew but I've seen pictures of the part you mean. How soon do you get started now that you have the planning passed? We've always fancied building a timber kit house one day.

I've had various bloods done since the EP in Jan and the MC in May. They have ruled out PCOS but prolactin is unusually high. Had an MRI to rule out brain tumor (that was a fun wait). Progesterone was low but they did a d2/d21 test on the one cycle that was 36. I asked if the long cycle mattered but was told no (not sure that's right though). Consultant thinks I don't ov every cycle and that low progesterone could have been the cauase of both EP and MC. Hence prescribing 3x cycles of clomid and if I get PG will have progesterone supplements early on. They're not 100% certain that MC wasn't also EP, so not sure what my chances are of another EP now. >

Chloe55 · 04/02/2011 08:21

Lily - this thread isn't just for those TTC after MC it is also for those knowing they will at some point but when the time is right for them so don't feel like a fraud Wink

A&R - your comment wasn't flippant at all Smile Feeling a bit weird about it really. This is the second truly meaningful dream I think I have had in my life. My first was I dreamt I was on a boat and went overboard, I started drowning and my Grandad (who has passed away 15 years ago) lifted me back on the boat and told me I could wake up, everything would be ok. I was going through a really bad patch at the time with my exdp, needless to say I found the strength to kick him out and life got much better Grin So yeah, I guess at first I was gutted when I woke that I wasn't pg but I like the idea of it coming to me to allow me to accept the idea of a new life round the corner. Kinda gives me hope that it will happen eventually. Smile

AandRMum · 04/02/2011 08:04

lili80 re SMEP list - I am just conducting a bit of an unscientific experiment to verify the stats claim on the website that 40% success rate first time when using the plan. Let's hope we do even better than that (although my math geek side is pretty certain that a 25% rate is more likely) Do you want me to add you to the list? For the sack of at least tipping our hat at the scientific method - shout if you fall off the SMEP wagon. Just as interesting to see if it makes any difference wether you follow the plan or not - just thinking of Nix getting a poor effort from ff the month she was upduffed!! This is a great distraction from my usual 2ww symptom spotting although am sure I can squeeze a bit of boob prodding in!

AandRMum · 04/02/2011 07:54

lily champagne is good at all times! We are building a house out of weathered steel (for anyone who has gone to Kew Gardens it is the material used on the Treetop walkway - beautiful dark brown) tucked into an old brick stable - it is so exciting!

mummyA is likely to be of most helpful - not sure about the light af and random temps but I do know pink and a few others velvet? had random and some very long cycles post mc. pink did a considerable amount of acupuncture and vitamin popping to bring it down and is now happily pregnant. Rubbish memory - have you had any testing done?

lily06 · 04/02/2011 07:33

AandR that's excellent news, champagne all round! > Tell us more about the planning etc, love to hear about it.

Chloe I hope the dream makes you feel better once it has settled in your mind a little. I would see it as your subconscious reassuring you that you can indeed grieve and that the future is going to be positive for you now. Maybe tell your friends at the weekend you've decieded to detox? Or won't that wash with them.....

LILI Charting is noting down your temperature on waking, type of cervical mucas (CM) and other signs on a daily basis. Most use Fertility Friend (free) to input the data and it produces charts and shows you likely ovulation day etc. You can share your charts so that others can help you too. SMEP is the sperm meets egg plan.

Hadrian have a lovely time in Thailand, relax and enjoy!

Cep my temps are all over the place too. I did wonder if my thermometer is too cold when i use it first thing - perhaps the same with you? Also my AF is very light on many cycles, often so light I don't need anything more than just a pantyliner, and its more brown spots than red or clots.

MummyA hope it went well yesterday.

Welcome to hills and black, you're in good company here.

DW you're Collie right? Hope you're doing ok.

Mouse you poor thing, its hard when there are pregnant people and babies everywhere you look. Hope you have a better day today.

I'm going crazy at the moment, not sure what is going on with my cycles. I joined a few days before AF was due, ready to start my first cycle of clomid. My cycle has been fairly regular since July, average 29 days and longest 35. So how come I'm now on day 44? DH doesn't want to start TTC until i'm on the Clomid so still using protection. Despite this I've POAS twice since cycle day 30. Grin

LILI80 · 04/02/2011 07:11

Morning Ladies

Thank you for all your posts. I can see now that I'm not alone in this just can't believe how long it can take!

I'm wondering if maybe I should do a weekly pg test - just in case and if it's still negative by the time I get to 8 weeks post erpoc and still no AF maybe I should see the docs?

mummyabroad This is going to sound really lame but what's charting? I haven't done that before so not sure whats involved but I think it might help.

Also, what's involved in the SMEP - I'm thinking I should be on this!?

AandRMum · 04/02/2011 06:42

Just reread my post - worried I sounded flippant about your dream. I am genuinely interested in how it made you feel as on one hand it could be just so disturbing esp. waking up realising you are not pg but possibly a cathartic to almost be given permission to let all that emotion out and ready yourself for your new bean.

AandRMum · 04/02/2011 06:34

Chloe I think it is fairly unanimous that the cheapies are good for playing around with but go digital all the way when things get serious. How did the dream make you feel? Amazingly intense dream ... Blush I don't know who Russell Howard is >

MamaP what did I miss - what good news?! I can't find any post other than giving me' a hard time about my fish drawing inadequacies!!! On second look it does rather look like a fish skeleton - possibly best to tickle people with

Chloe55 · 04/02/2011 06:04

Yeah I have been debating that Orange.

Oooh did I mention I was off to see Russell Howard tomorrow night? Grin Very excited.

OrangeGloss · 04/02/2011 06:00

Morning, I can't think who mentioned it but I thought I remembered brazil nuts being good for swimmers. And anything consumed effects production in 3 months?!

Mummya maybe your body is just settling down after everything and now this AF is done things will have settled. You know so much about this you know all the bad news cases, which always come to the forefront above good news ones (((hugs))) my next course starts this month so you can have my exam luck this time :)
Hils sorry for your loss, I agree with the others about time off, and would recommend a pg test when you are ready to try again (if straight away like I think you said) to confirm negative so any new +ve is definitely a new pg. Oh, and welcome! These ladies are amazing truly a great support :)
Mouse that's still good news tho?! 50 OPKs! Now you can really go for the testing
Welcome too Blackkat so sorry to hear about the rough time you've had. I don't know much about chlomid but I'm sure one of these ladies can give some good advice x
Lil sorry you're still waiting, I've heard it taking 7 weeks, so may be just a few more days. So frustrating isn't it? When mine did come I felt happy than strangely sad which I didn't expect
Hadrian have an amazing time Envy
Mamap that's great news!! Grin see, this is your year :)
Chloe sorry about the dream, damn our subconscious. Not sure what CD you are, you could try your luck with a CBDigital in one last try before weekend? Sorry, no reason to think they're better than Tesco, but were defo better than internet cheapies. Hopefully you'll be sober due to a BFP :)

It's only 6 am but I'm already so so looking forward to the weekend Grin curry (I'm making) and rugby tonight then sleep and films/tv/zombie killing all weekend Grin

Chloe55 · 04/02/2011 05:32

Can't sleep - had a really vivid dream I was pg, strangely my aunty came and told me in bed - she had seen the scan and everything (despite the fact I hadn't gone for one!) and she brought me the scan pic, I cried and cried as she told me it was ok to grieve for the baby I had lost and to cry with elation for the baby that had arrived....then I woke up Sad

LILY - mine took 6 wks, it's fairly normal to take a few days/weeks longer than usual, even though it is bloody frustrating!

Cep - Can't remember if you have had any tests done or anything but I would prob have a word with the doc about your odd periods. All woman do have a cycle that goes a bit haywire even if they have no medical problems but it's still worth getting things like PCOS ruled out if you haven't done already.

BlackKat - What a longhaul for you Sad Are you thinking of going back on Clomid? How did you find it when you were on it (I started this cycle and have had shitty side effects). I know what you mean about wanting to get back on it straight away. Apparantly we are more fertile after pg so if you feel ready for it then I say go for it Smile

A&R - Great news about the planning permission Grin

Mummya - how are you feeling this morning?

Yes I did have a little chuckle at the fish myself Grin I kinda did that 'aww bless her little cotton socks' to myself Grin

I have been testing with Tescos own pg tests and was laid in bed thinking, I am probably still too early to test so looked into what levels of hCG it detects and according to the net it is 25 so I am guessing it prob should have detected pg if I last DTD on cd14, even if I ovulated on, say, CD18 then it would be 9dys post conception which should show up at 25 hCG surely?

I have made a boo boo as we are out with friends all weekend and I told them I would either be celebrating by staying sober or commiserating by getting drunk. Now if I stay sober they will think I am pg but if I have a few drinks I fear that there is the slightest of chances I actually am.

AandRMum · 04/02/2011 04:12

Hadrian have a wonderful time!!!

lilli I was a good 5 weeks post ERPC. When did you stop bleeding - I think the stat is that you won't generally have an af until around 21 days post bleeding stopping. It is also very normal not to ov on the WTF cycle. It is horrible waiting though!!

Welcome Blackat and Hils >

velvet ditto on the cm. I am hoping it is a good sign!

MamaP ahhh that's how you do a fish! I didn't think Knitter needed one really so whitebait was most probably accurate!

AandRMum · 04/02/2011 01:09

WE GOT PLANNING PERMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hadrian · 03/02/2011 23:35

Hello ladies, quick < delurk > as I am in pre-holiday chaos. Hello to hils and blackat. Sorry you find yourselves here but this thread is keeping me sane and I hope it will help you too.

lili I MC'd on 24th December so that's 6 weeks now and no sign of AF. Part of me is worrying that something might be wrong but at the same time I think I am ready to feel good about life again.

Off to Thailand tomorrow so won't be around for a while. aandr sign me up for the SMEP experiment...maybe I can get started on a beautiful Thai beach!

Lots of love to you all

MummyAbroad · 03/02/2011 22:28

cep I hear you. I too have wasted a lot of pee sticks on denial AF testingGrin

cep · 03/02/2011 22:24

mummya i know the drop is a sign of normality, was just the odd af. and denial. Grin

MummyAbroad · 03/02/2011 22:09

Hi Lilli I can understand your frustration, mine didnt come back after 8 months and I had to have an operation to get them back. The average amount of time is 4-7 weeks, unless you had irregular periods before your mc in which case it can be up to 12. I would go and see your GP and ask for progesterone tablets if you dont get it after 7 weeks. I started charting while I was waiting and it helped me feel a bit more in control of what was going on.

cep seeing it on a chart actual makes it look more "normal" it does just look like your AF tailed off into spotting for a few days, nothing wrong in that. I think SMEP says start on Day 10 doesnt it? I havent read it in ages.

LILI80 · 03/02/2011 21:50

Oh my gosh Velvet that's such a long time! You must have been going out of your mind I'm going crazy with waiting right now.

Thanks for your post though, at least I now know 5 weeks isn't unusual.

I just can't remember the hospital telling me how long it would take for my AF to return. It was almost like "all done off you go" Thank god for this thread :)
