Hello,

So, I've been TTC on and off for TWO BLOODY YEARS!!!!! And am going to the doctors next week. However, I am the eternal optimist and will be SWI like the best of them for the next few weeks before I start symptom spotting again. Grin

Come and join me and lets see who gets lucky this month!

(But pretty please let me be one. I mean, I am starting the thread, those are the rules aren't they?

bumps , for what it's worth, you are pretty late based on your stats (even with last month's extra long cycle) - however without being able to use FMU you're probably not going to get the result you want.

If you do buy one, would you be able to wait? You did say you wanted to wait until Friday so Thurs would be ok for purchasing...

Am just playing devil's advocate here really. If you can afford it, it's not really silly to test at this stage (could you just not pee for four hours and then try?) and it's a little bit romantic so I can see the appeal. However I'm sure DH will be super pleased whenever you find out and it being valentine's day won't really improve that!

Will it spoil any romantic plans if you don't get the result you want?

Bumpsadaisie · 14/02/2011 11:57

Hmm, I've just been wondering whether I actually should stop being sensible and go out and buy a first response in my lunchhour and test - then if it is a BFP I can send a photo of it to DH as a valentines present?!

Please talk me out of this. It wouldnt even be FMU.

(I live out in the sticks and don't drive so if I don't buy a good pg test today, the next opportunity to do so will not be until I am back in the metropolis on Thursday!)

No, I shall HOLD OFF. I shall. Really.

ghosteditor · 14/02/2011 11:06

I guess I hadn't really thought about it that way and it sounds eminently sensible.

Ironically (or not) I'm feeling quite crampy this morning so I expect AF is on the way. Ho hum, at least it resets the TTC calendar more quickly...

Bumpsadaisie · 14/02/2011 10:08

Ghost - I know what you mean about the awfulness of "not knowing". I think the TTC thing is a sort of warm up lesson in getting used to having no control over your life!

So you could be quite ascetic about it and think to yourself "the more I get used to accepting I have no control now, the easier it will be during the pregnancy (when I will have 100% anxiety and 0% ability to actually DO anything) and with a baby (when my entire ability to control what happens in my day disappears compeletely!)".

Hmm, I do want no.2 desperately but, bloody hell, it is going to be hard work if it happens. Grin

ghosteditor · 14/02/2011 09:59

Hey bumps thank you! Yes, still hope and of course it's all very early in the game generally.

It's the uncertainty that's so stressful - if I knew it would take 6 months or whatever to conceive I'd probably be ok with it. Is jolly lovely to have MN people to talk out all the crazy with though Wink

Bumpsadaisie · 14/02/2011 09:53

Ghost, ah well, you may well be much too early. Still hope!

ghosteditor · 14/02/2011 09:25

wow, it's all go this morning! congratulations corky !

I'm not charting so I don't know exactly when I ovulated but I'm on cycle day 24 so could well be at least 12 dpo. However if AF has reverted back to 28 day form then I might be a bit early.

After a bit of dithering last night I decided to go a head and sod it, so I tested this morning with a cheapie. BFN. Strangely enough I feel much calmer now and I think I'm happy enough to wait to see if AF turns up anytime before Friday. There was a lot of squinting and examining of the test and for a moment I thought I saw the start of a line on the bottom half of the test, but on a proper look it disappeared. I was all heart-poundy and full of adrenalin before I tested, though - can see why these things are addictive!

I did find my keys which have been missing all weekend though! There was some frantic searching last night but no luck, but this morning DH found them in my dressing gown, of all places! So, y'know, you've got to take the rough with the smooth...

any luck knitty ?

VintageNancy · 14/02/2011 09:07

Congratulations Corky! :)

emsiedoodle · 14/02/2011 08:42

Congratulations Corky as they say a line is a line!

Still no progress here. No change from yesterday at all and still no AF. I have all the other symptoms that she is about to show but that?s it.

I didn't test this morning, mainly because when I had DC1 I felt different and this time I don't, I feel that there is no chance of BFP this month.

Thank you for all your advice ladies it really is appreciated.

corkythecat · 14/02/2011 08:08

Eeek thats what I thought. Dont know why its such a surprise we have a DS already and have been trying for this one.

Good luck to all of you hope you all get the BFP's you deserve very soon
xxx

babybythesea · 14/02/2011 08:01

Corky - a faint line is supposed to be as much a positive as a big strong kick you in the teeth line. So I'd say there is a 99% chance that you are indeed unduffed. Especially if you've had two of them now. Best start researching cots. Amd prams. And nappies. And bouncy chairs. And....

VintageNancy · 14/02/2011 07:40

Sorry about AF q.

Would be interested to hear what she says Lucy.

My temp took a nosedive this morning so AF is imminent. :( Knew it was but sad anyway.

Good luck to the testers!

corkythecat · 14/02/2011 07:39

Morning ladies, have been lurking here for while but POAS yesterday morning and their was the faintest line but their was a line. Did it again this morning and another really faint line.
AF is due on Wednesday.

Has anyone used these early tests from amazon and whats you opinion of them?

Am I upduffed??????

LoveInAColdClimate · 14/02/2011 07:30

Any news, knittymum? Hope you got your BFP!

Bumpsadaisie · 14/02/2011 07:24

Sorry q about your BFN. Gutting isn't it?

babybythesea - yes that is exactly the logic I am applying - am 15 DPO (or so FF says anyway) and on cd 35. Normal cycles are 29 -31 days, apart from last month which we ttc'd and was 38 days. So I am just going to "expect" AF every day this week and perhaps test Friday if she doesn't arrive!

With dd we were incredibly lucky and got a bfp first time, and I found it really disheartening last month when AF was late but got bfn after bfn. I would rather just sit tight and try and forget about it.

Good luck to all testing !

lucylookout · 13/02/2011 22:13

Sorry af got you too q.
Thanks for all the advice re pilates. I will definitely go to some classes. In fact, I know the teacher a teeny bit so might quietly confide in her that I'm ttc and see if there's anything to avoid. My tummy is a disgrace at the moment and I really need to do something about it.
Ghost, I'd test. It's probably not the best advice but if I had symptoms and there was the opportunity to find out for sure, I would spend all day regretting it if I didn't use first morning urine on a test. Silly, eh.
Good luck to all others testing too!

babybythesea · 13/02/2011 21:39

Sorry q. Maybe next month will be your month. And November babies are great. I know. I am one.

q2011 · 13/02/2011 21:36

AF turned up today, which resulted in me being a crying heap for awhile, my DH is so good putting up with all my emotions, and the i want a baby now!
Good luck to everyone else due to test.

babybythesea · 13/02/2011 21:34

Is anyone else starting to develop the superstition that if you can resist testing before the day AF is due, then when you do POAS, you are more likely to get a BFP? Suddenly realised that I am managing to prevent myself from using my last stick by convinceing myself that it will come out negative, even though I might be able to tell by tomorrow. OTOH, if I can wait until Thursday, then it's sure to be positive?

Slowly going round the bend, apparently...

knittymum · 13/02/2011 21:07

OK, so according to the MN Ovulation Calculator, I was fertile between the 31/1 and 4/2, 31 day cycle and AF due somewhere around 17th/18th - am on CD 27 now. So, taking as an average that I ovulated on the 2nd, tomorrow would be 12DPO, so I'll test in the morning! Woah, sorry about the period maths there, but I needed to write it down to make sense of it!

I have a Dr appointment in the morning, so it would be fab if I could go in and say I'd had a BFP! OMG, so nervous! wish it was next weekend so I could know one way or the other!

Bumpsadaisie · 13/02/2011 20:54

Ghostie - how many DPO do you think you are - if you are 12 plus tomorrow, I would test!

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 20:47

knitty I know! [admits to the fact that my cheapies were 2 for £4.50, which is at least like peeing on a £2 coin and a bit of change]

Ok. If you wait till Tuesday, I will too. Will you wait with me? (or should we wait until Weds)?

Also I haven't looked at the sensitivity level yet - if they're not the most sensitive (the level is 10 somethings, right), then I should defs wait!

knittymum · 13/02/2011 20:43

Ghost - you should, but will you?? I can feel my resolve weakening as I sit here, and may well end up 'peeing on a fiver' again tomorrow morning rather than waiting at least one extra day!

ghosteditor · 13/02/2011 20:39

bumps thanks for the advice - not what I wanted to hear but definitely the voice of reason!

I think the reason I'm dithering is because I bought a cheapie two-pack HPT and I keep thinking it couldn't hurt to waste the first one. Silly me Blush.

I should wait, I should wait. I should really wait.

babybythesea · 13/02/2011 20:32

Apparently (I have a new piece of info), a BFP can take a while to show, depending on when in your cycle you conceived. So if you conceived almost instantly after ovulation, (one of those girl sperm that swum up slowly but surely and is now just hanging around waiting for her egg) you will get an earlier BFP than if it happened just as your body was thinking about ditching the egg because clearly you were doing nothing useful this month and then - wait a second- is that a sperm I see??? In that instance, conception would have taken place really late in your cycle, and the hormones needed to show a BFP would be delayed in appearing. Which explains why some people test early and get BFP while others sit with tampax in hand wondering where on earth AF has got to, and why, if she isn't here, the POAS is yielding no results.
