Bienvenue, welcome, bonjour, la la la

it doesnt sound like you are ov to me. i was the same. got more than one surge in a cycle, because LH and FSH levels were mucked up. try temping and see if that shows any consistency and def go to your gp. you could have messed up hormones or even pco which i had. ended up taking treatment and now pregnant. dont worry, its simple to sort, whatever it is, but with such long cycles i should be surprised if you are ov. opks arent really reliable if your fsh and lh levels are wrong as it detects lh surges which will happen often.

jodee - yep a basal thermometer (digital to 2 decimal places). I bought the temping kit in Boots (thermometer and a book for charting) and have been using it for 4 mts now.

jodee · 01/10/2003 13:40

Hi BigBird, I think will start temping, I need a particular type of thermometer,is that right?

gingernut · 01/10/2003 13:09

pollingfold - did you try the temping and/or see your doctor about your long cycles? I don't know the answer to your question I'm afraid. With such long cycles OPKs must cost you a fortune .

Jemma7 · 01/10/2003 12:28

So Sorry MM
I know it's no concelation but maybe its for the best with you now yet knowing the situation with DH!

lazyeye · 01/10/2003 12:21

Ahhh, sorry Mollymay. Its just pure gutting ain't it - no other word for it. You be nice to yourself for the day now......

mollymay · 01/10/2003 12:17

got af this morning - day 38 - I'm gutted

BigBird · 01/10/2003 10:32

jodee - a bit later should do it - why don't you start temping and you can pinpont exactly !

Welcome back quacks - we're both refreshed and revivied. Glad to hear you sounding cheery!

madgirl · 01/10/2003 09:44

well, did a test this am, still no af and negative
must admit, i'm more surprised than anything else as af rarely 2 days late, and my boobs v tender like last time. do you think there is a chance i should test in a couple of days? or am i deluding myself

pollingfold · 01/10/2003 09:23

A quick techy question for you very knowledgeable mumsnetters. After 6 months of try have started using the ovulation test sticks, but am confused as to the result. Last cycle of 53 days, I had 2 tests (days 15, 25) where the lines we equal, and a 3rd test (day 38) showing the test line to be darker than the control line.

Can this happen? Should I not be fooled into thinking that any "equal result" in the first half of my cycle could be ovulation. I understand about the 14 days from the end rule which would suggest only the 36 day test results counted, but I also get spotting around the middle of the cycle (day 23 - 27) which would suggest that actually I have two cycles in the long one. I hope this all makes sense, I am bewildered at it all!!

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

lazyeye · 01/10/2003 09:01

Mornin' all

Don't know why I did this, since I'm only Day 22,(and think I only ovulated last week) so of course it was negative. Am I mad or what? Torturing myself for no reason. Think I had convinced myself I had some other symptoms. Am gonna be strong now and wait until at least my period is due daft cow. I am so b broody though.

Egypt · 30/09/2003 18:12

Hi quackers! great to see you back ! I'm still hanging around here to check how things are going.

Jems, so sorry its a neg. I dont want to make you feel like there's something wrong, but i would go to gp and get him/her to refer you to a specialist if i were you. At least then, if they do tests and theres nothing wrong, you can carry on as normal.....if there is....they can get the ball rolling sooner rather than later. say you came off pill year ago and no luck. dont know how old you are, by the way, but i think 6 months of nothing is probably long enough to just get checked out. (although if you stopped taking the pill at christmas, you should count from then).

Meant "when you SAY" ...

jodee · 30/09/2003 17:44

Thanks Jemma, it is hard sometimes, isn't it? Glad you sound so positive, I need to get back to that frame of mind!
I think it is because it is coming round to the second anniversary of when my m/c'd baby would have been due, so feel a bit flat. Grateful for ds, of course, but he needs a bro/sis now.
When you day BD every other day, from when exactly? The day your period stops, or a bit later?

madgirl · 30/09/2003 16:45

quackers good to see you back and so smiley.

quackers · 30/09/2003 16:36

Good Luck Jodee - Finger crossed 4 u - could do with some good news round here!

Haven't told DP yet but i have already decided that next month it is going to be BD'ing every other day - if we really really want this we are going to have to work our balls off (well DP's balls off )

jodee · 30/09/2003 16:26

Sorry it was a neg Jemma, best of luck for next time.
I've just finished AF so here were go again ... feels a real drag sometimes, I have to admit.

Bogwoppit · 30/09/2003 15:56

I had reflexology on Fri. - it was just nice to have an hour to myself relaxing!

CountessDracula welcome to our midst - good luck ttc.

Jemma7 · 30/09/2003 15:51

Thanks Guys - nice to know that i can moan here without making anyone else feel down - always worry about what i say to DP as i'm very conscious(sp) of him feeling as shitty as i do sometimes!

QUACK-MIESTER!!!!!!!!!!!! How good is it to see you (well your posts) How was your break? Was it Centre Parcs?
Glad your feeling much better - send some of your positive vibes my way

CountessDracula · 30/09/2003 15:48

Jemma7, sorry to hear you are having such an awful time. All I can say is that we tried for 3 years and had just about given up when it finally happened. So don't give up, and keep your chin up. It's so hard isn't it?

Quackers glad to hear you're feeling better.

I am joining this thread soon as am about to start ttc No 2.

quackers · 30/09/2003 15:23

HI GUYS!!!!!!!
Haven't been able to catch up with the whole thread but I think I've got the jist!
Jems, so sorry you feel so despondent about all this. It's really a pain in the backside and when you want something so bad it just never happens!!!
Well, I feel like I have finally moved on from my 'ghosts'. All this is well and truly at the back of my head and the crying has stopped, the pain and obsession. I expected no miracle cure from this counselling/natural rmedies stuff and just went for the massage but I pleased to say, it must have bloody worked!! I'm finally me again! I've got my confidence back, have complained about my boss, take no shit from hubby and generally am more positve! Pgcy will come - well I hope so anyway!
Jems, maybe you could benefit form some aromatherapy/reflexology too???
Good to hear you all though - MISSED YOU ALLxxxxx

mollymay · 30/09/2003 15:06

jems - don't you worry . its good to let it out...its all so bloody frustrating!

Jemma7 · 30/09/2003 14:38

Tell me about it - know the feeling - Don't think i could say what's worse.
You try not to test so you are not dissapointed - then convince yourself to test because even if your aren't pg you know and get trying again but it sooooo disheartening!

I just want a baby and i want one NOW!
Sorry, had to get that out of my system - have been thinking it for ages but haven't said it!

mollymay · 30/09/2003 14:23

its so hard waiting isn't it... mind you I don't know whats worse..waiting with the possibility that you might be or finding out that you're not..I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!
