Yeah Auntmandy, THAT particular month!! Who knows if I ovulate then on every month.... get it? There are no guarantees.

I know the day I conceived coz DH and I were not getting along and only had sex once in about 6wks!
I conceived ds on an entirely different day in my cycle!

What about day 9-18?

WigWamBam · 06/10/2005 13:50

Some information on natural family planning here . This suggests, by the way, that the time after your period that is considered "safe" is very short.

There are also a number of books that you can buy which will teach you to do things like chart your temperature to work out "safe" dates. None of it is foolproof though, and the chances of conceiving whilst using these techniques is far, far higher than the chances whilst using other forms of contraception.

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:48

day 9 or 18

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:47

yes.but you couldnt have concieved or it would be unlikely to concieve out side that time

Auntmandy - I have the coil fitted. I don't think about it anymore.

Er..... don't understand why you say that it's 7 days after the day your period start!

If you want to argue that a cycle is text book (28 day, ovulate half way through cycle) then you will ovulate between 12-16 days after the 1st day of your period!

I conceived dd 16 days after the 1st day of my last period....therefore day 16 of my (30 day) cycle.

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:44

I have obviously mis understood. Good job its worked so far..goodness knows how many I would have!!!

Well if her period lasted more than a week them she would!
Its from the first day.
We do use contreception most of the time, but it is nice not to all the time. Or is that just me?

Ditto Aloha!

Fangache · 06/10/2005 13:42

Auntmandy - sorry you lost a baby.

aloha · 06/10/2005 13:42

No safe time. Ovulation can be very unpredictable. If you don't want to get pg, use contraception. My friend got pg the day her period ended.

Fangache · 06/10/2005 13:42

But... the answer is there isn't a guaranteed safe time. But you don't seem to want to accept that.

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:42

I did want more and lost it in august.

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:41

Just spotted on the other thread that you already have 5 children! I can understand why you don't want anymore.... but can't understand why you would carry on playing russian roulette with your cycles!

Fangache · 06/10/2005 13:39

If you only wanted people to come on and say "Yes you are perfectly safe to carry on bonking using no contraception"... then that just wasnt' going to happen really.

If you know your cycle.... and you know when you ovulate and you know you are confident you will not get pregnant.... then their really was nothing anyone here could say otherwise.

Fangache · 06/10/2005 13:38

Auntmandy - Why shouldn't you have asked??? You got an answer, thats the best MN can do really. What were you looking for?

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:37

one of mine was born on due date! and my period starts exactly 4 weeks from the last

OP posts:
auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:36

oh well, shouldnt have asked! thought someone else here might use this method. will stick to 5 days either side then instead of 7

OP posts:
Fangache · 06/10/2005 13:36

The guide is exactly that..... a guide...and only works if you have TEXT BOOK cycle each and every time! Which noone has.

Its like the guide that tells you a pregnancy is 40wks long from your last period...... yet only 5% are born on their due date!

Fangache · 06/10/2005 13:35

Auntmandy...... NO There is NO safety zone! You can ovulate at any point in your cycle..... except probably when you are bleeding heavily with AF!!!!!!!!

auntymandy · 06/10/2005 13:34

yes but if the guide is 10 days before and after the 1st day of your period and you go say 5 or 7 days you are well within the safety zone arent you?

OP posts:
Fangache · 06/10/2005 13:28

Auntmandy - There are times when you can't and times when you can conceive........ BUT and this is a huuuuuuuuuge BUT.... you can NEVER guarantee your cycle will be the same from month to month.

My friend used this technique and it turned out she conceived the day after her period stopped. For some reason she just ovulated really early on in that cycle! Her dd is now 3.

There are kits you can buy that you can test when you are ovulating though. What about those? You can buy them in Boots.
