Last thread was here

The (updated)(again)(again) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator for the Viroids:

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday (or when you've had bad news). Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). (It just takes longer to get in the mood

Oh yes I should clarify, if I had a home birth it'd be in a birthing pool. I knew my friend was having a home birth but didn't really think about it until she said she was picking up her plastic sheets for the bed! Think I went a funny shade of green Grin

nickelbabysnatcher · 27/01/2011 13:51

aqua - why didn't you get the waterbirth?

OP posts:
nickelbabysnatcher · 27/01/2011 13:50

don't know what hsseitng is - should be sheeting

OP posts:
nickelbabysnatcher · 27/01/2011 13:49

Nelly - according to all the people I've spoken to, the midwives clear it up.

you have to cover the room in plastic hseeitng, then they clean everything up while you're bonding.

and if you're at home, if you want to keep visitors at bay tell them "we'll let you know when we're at the hospital then you can visit" - oops, not going to hospital? Shock Wink

aquavit · 27/01/2011 13:32

don't think it's silly to think about birthing plans, nelly, but I guess it is worth saying that it's not really in your best interests to get completely hung up on ONE way of doing things - births rarely go exactly as you think they will

in the only-slightly-longer run, so long as you and your baby come out of it in pretty much one piece, it doesn't matter a hoot where or how you do it

(disclaimer: I am trying to convince myself here really; I think I have JUST about managed to let go of my disappointment that I didn't get the waterbirth I wanted!)

NervousNelly · 27/01/2011 13:21

Ah - now see I've NEVER wanted a home birth! I can't get my head round the mess Hmm.

So practically, where do you actually give birth, and given there will be blood and poo and in all likelihood some puke too - who cleans it up??? I can't think of anything worse than having to clean that up with a newborn to contend with too Shock.

Plus I have a feeling if I was at home, all my family would take that to mean they could pitch up whenever. At least in a hospital you have visiting hours to keep them at bay Grin

JosieSmith1 · 27/01/2011 13:00

I've always wanted a home birth. It has been proven that my blood pressure rockets in hosp as I'm so frightened of them so the chances of a risk free birth in hosp is slim at best. At home I'd feel much more relaxed and in control and wouldn't freak out as much (hopefully!)

aquavit · 27/01/2011 12:50

ah, sorry, crowette, glad you feel inspired to go for it this cycle though.

crowette · 27/01/2011 12:38

I decided after my first daughter was born (17years ago - Eek!) that I'd have my next at home ... I hated being in the hospital, could not relax at all. Too many silly rules for me! At least at home I felt in control, and as a result, the birth was much better - was only 42 minutes long once I was in established labour too!

Go for it!

nickelbabysnatcher · 27/01/2011 12:28

there, see, no iphone and I can't spell [oops]
i meant hospital Blush

:( crowette for your E RTD

I'm in the same boat as you - that means we're cycle buddies! Grin

I've always wanted an HB - well, since I decided that I might want a baby after all. My friend had 4 and she was a very good advocate for them. I'm actually quite amazed how many women just assume that you have to go to hospital, and don't even question it or ask for options.
Odd that your GP went that way round, though - would have thought that if they did support HBs, that they would have just gone Hmm we'll talk about that later and hope that wishy-washy ladies would forget about it.

In fact, the closer I get to having a baby, and it not just being a pipe dream, the more vehement I am about HB. Now, the thought of a hopsital birth really freaks me out and fills me with dread.

Thanks dee I'm ok though ... gearing up to get "up an' at 'em" this cycle Wink

deemented · 27/01/2011 12:20

Oh Crowette - i'm sorry.

crowette · 27/01/2011 12:19

Grr crap phone post again ... I should remember to proof read my posts Grin

crowette · 27/01/2011 12:15

Well, that's AF arrived - a whole 4 days late Hmm

Just eyed up evening primrose oil here at work, will nab some of that after my shift and start back on the conception vitamins again! OH will at least be happy to be getting pounced upon a lot more!

nickel I had a planned home birth with youngest daughter 11 years ago ... I told the Dr as soon as I found out I pregnant that I wanted one, and he told they didn't support them here ... I told the midwife the same and she said the same. I hold them both that I had friends who'd had them, so knew I could get one. At my next visit and subsequent ones I repeated my wishes and as soon as they realised it wasn't an early pregnancy wishy washy fad, they were fully on board. My midwife was very excited to do her first home delivery with me Grin so Is recommend you push for it ... it really was amazing and I'll wanting it again :)

nickelbabysnatcher · 27/01/2011 11:38

:9 Nelly - tell him from me that you need chocolate and sex or he can sleep on the settee

Grrr sorry also just realised I typed a worky acronym Blush. WFH is working from home, if you don't speak Office!!

NervousNelly · 27/01/2011 10:49

Anyone not Anyway. Idiot me.

NervousNelly · 27/01/2011 10:48

Aw crow hugs, I know what you mean about not wanting to get your hopes up. We've been trying about 6 months now and I've POAS only 2 or 3 times. And one of those was just because I was going to the dentist so wanted to be sure Hmm. Even thought last month I went a whole day late (flipping body is regular as clockwork normally) I refused to test as knew full well it would be a BFN.

Nickel my OH doesn't even seem that enthusiastic about the JS at the moment :( He has been very busy at work admittedly, but he's not being very interested or enthusiastic about any of it. He certainly isn't rushing out to buy me Galaxy. Arse.

LOL at Josie needing the loo!

Anyway seen or heard from Sleepycaz lately?Hope she is doing ok. What about 30? You still out there? .

WFH today so will try desperately not to be sucked in to MN today. So don't get all chatty like you did the last couple of days Wink.

nickelbabysnatcher · 27/01/2011 10:45

I've just done a bit of googling to find out about the likelihood of my homebirth being frowned upon (yes, I have a very long outlook!)
and i found <a class="break-all" href="http://www.birthchoiceuk.com/BirthChoiceUKFrame.htm?www.birthchoiceuk.com/Tables/TableC_ST1.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this , which quite clearly shows that my area, Swale, has one of the highest HB rates in Kent, and is much higher than the national average (not that anyone could dissuade me if they tried, but it's nice to know it's common here)

OP posts:
nickelbabysnatcher · 27/01/2011 10:43

it might be - apparently (i have been finding out recently) CPs are very, very common.

[big un-MNy hugs]

crowette · 27/01/2011 10:34

Hi nickel ... not POAS, don't think there's any point now and don't want to waste the money. Is odd how very sore my boobs were, the only times they've been that sore was when I've been pregnant ... maybe it was a CP, or another very early MC? Confused

crowette · 27/01/2011 10:28

Tsk, bollocks to double posting!

crowette · 27/01/2011 10:26

Thanks Josie I did enjoy the chocolate and still have more to enjoy tonight Grin

I don't think so dee, Had more spotting just now ... only when I wipe so far, but dug out the panty liners and stuffed my handbag with tampons - just to be on the safe side. Actually as I typed that. I got the feeling I'm going to need them, lol!

T'is only our second cycle of actually trying, as we took some time out after the MC and still weren't putting in enough effort as we could ... will be different from now on though Wink
