You can always get a single rubella shot if you don't want the triple vaccine :)

I'm definitely going to get immunity checked, just not sure if I want MMR again or not, guess i'll have to speak to the Doctor if i'm not immune.

I would definitely get rubella immunity checked. The risk to the baby of contracting it in pregnancy is huge and the disappointment of waiting to TTC far outweighs the pain of a miscarriage or stillbirth.

And yes, MMR doesn't always work so it's worth checking.

I'm 21, DH is 27! We've been TTC for a year, and yes I find it really hard to explain to friends why we are doing this! Though, of course our proper friends are very supportive and lovely about it!

I'm 28 now, so not so young! But I was 24 when I got pregnant with DS, which I didn't think was so young, but apparently was from the fuss people made about it! :)

Hiya i'm TTC too, i'm 20 and husband is 22. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about rubella immunity, went to see nurse about TTC and was told to have rubella immunity checked, because sometimes you aren't immune even if you have had MMR, but have to wait 2 weeks for blood test, then if not immune have to have MMR and can't try for a baby for 3 months afterwards. Really don't want to wait that long before trying, but don't want to be irresponsible either :s anyone else had the same sort of thing?

I've started taking folic acid and a multivitamin, peeing on sticks to see if/when I ovulate, having loads of sex, and using conceive plus.

I took folic acid and a B vitamin complex, joined the gym and followed a fairly strict (for a while anyway) low GI diet to help with my PCOS. Read up loads on all things ttc, mainly on here to be honest.

We also used a lube called conceive plus (£14.99 from boots) in the last couple of months which worked out v successfully as I'm pg now.

Came off depo six months ago and cycle is now back to normal.
Have started taking folic acid and exercising as I have a little bit of weight to lose.
What is everyone else doing in preparation?
None of my family and friends know we are ttc so nice to have someone to talk to

sorelip IF (and I'm sure you won't) you needed clomid your doctor would want to do quite alot of tests before.

It varys in different areas but where I live you have to have been trying for minimum of 12 months before they will even consider doing investigations.

Mine was slightly quicker but only because I have a long history of severe problems with my periods and finally got a gp who listened. Before that it took 10 years of complaining to doctors and no help was even offered, but that's a different story.

If you had been trying with no success then docs would do bloodtests to check your progestrone level. These are usually taken a week after ovulation should've taken place. Commonly known as 21 day bloods.
By looking at this number they can (usually) tell whether your body released an egg that month. You would probably need at least 4 consecutive anovulatory months before they would consider clomid as an option.

It works by stimulating the ovaries to hopefully pop an egg out.

Gold, I only came off the pill last month. I'm just hoping I get back to normal a bit quicker than a year. However, if I don't, at least I'll have had a year of enjoying the trying :o.

You need to go through a pretty huge battery of tests before you get prescribed clomid especially if you've been on the pill within the last year and are under 30.

I wouldn't worry though - when I came off the pill it took a year to get back to normal.

Young doesn't equal automatic, which is why threads like this are great.

Hi, I'm 20 (21 in May), OH is 26 in May and we have just decided that 2011 is the year for us to TTC! However I have a massive 21st Birthday Party already planned so may not be until 2nd half of the year! We both decided a teenage pregnancy wasn't for me (not that I have any problems with it - best friend is!) just wanted to gain my qualification with a stable job with good Maternity Leave Package. Just extremely excited :D BUT am currently bring tested for underactive thyroids :(

I only found out today. Kept seeing it on here and I got curious. Anyone know how long you can go without ovulating before a doctor will prescribe clomid?

Clomid is used to make you ovulate.

Hi, Im 23 (24 in feb) and ttc DC2! I have a beautiful DS who turned 2 at the begining of the month. Me and DH(25) started ttc last march and i luckily fell pregnant after just 3 months of trying but sadly had a missed miscarriage, found out at 13 week scan that baby died at 8 weeks! Its hard because i should have been due in feb on my birthday!
Anyway we have been trying again since August after I had a miscarriage and nothing has happened yet....but fingers crossed for this month, I am feeling positive. period due on or around 11th jan.
A lot of my friends have children though but most of my colleagues at work who are around the same age have not got and do not want children for a long time! some of them say they are too 'selfish' to have children, because they enjoy going out and spending all their wages on themselves!! They really dont know what they are missing!
