No lissie- it's very hard. Its not a thing of complete joy when you get a bfp until you know you are out of your danger zone (whatever that is). And even after that toy worry obsessively- including the birth. I didn't breath out til got dd score after birth.

Take it easy-

OracleInaCoracle · 13/02/2011 10:34

it helps so much to know that you understand my lack of excitement/enthusiasm. at cons on friday so will ask for a scan there and then as well as any drugs he has available. at the cinema with ds, and dh is doing all cooking/cleaning today so i can rest. have woken v early all week so tired.

galwaygal · 13/02/2011 08:54

I am feeling helpless to help Lissie, it is so frustrating, in my cupboards, I have antibiotics, LDN and prednisolone, all the things that could potentially help. I just wish I could magically give them to help you. I am feeling Angry at your doctors. Sorry this is probrably not helpful to you Lissie, but I am just so frustrated for you.

galwaygal · 13/02/2011 08:47

lissielou - , you are so strong to be where you are now. You have done well to get to where you are now with fighting the idiot doctors, I really hope and pray that this idea with the paracetomol works for you. I wish they would give you the other options too, but you can get through these next few days. This time it might just be the one that works, try to focus on the possibility of this bean actually beating the odds. Can you distract yourself with something, to try to forget about it for today? Brew

OracleInaCoracle · 13/02/2011 08:26

hairy, thinking of you today x

thank you broccoli and galway, Im so scared, am approaching that 5w mark and can barely breath. i had trapped wind last night so panicked a bit but everything seems fine so far. but an hour is a long time in ftc. i am all over the place and have used a roll of loo paper wiping. i cant lose another bean, i really cant. dont think i have it in me to be strong if this fails.

broccolitrees · 12/02/2011 23:26

(quiet) congratulations lissie! the signs are good this time, no?
quick word of caution on the paracetamol front though: don't take it if you don't have a temp as it won't help to keep it down (common misconception) it only works when you actually have the temp and you don't want to take anything you don't need.
all the best my lovely, will be keeping an eye out for (many over the next 9 months) regular updatesSmile

galwaygal · 12/02/2011 22:20

Hairy - Sad sorry to hear you are going through trauma again with another mmc.

Lissie -Wine, I'll have a drink for you, I just pray that this time the paracetomol and asprin do something to help. Are you taking 75mg or 150 or 300mg of asprin? If I get pg again I have been told by Dr Rai to take 150mg asprin daily, but my local consultant has now told me from 7dpo(!!!!) to take progesterone, asprin 75mg and heprin injections...... I am bemused why to take heperin so early, and not sure I will do this, will wait til 6 weeks I think.

Anyway, enough about me, this time is about you, I will be anxiously waiting over the next few days, hoping that you don't get a fever.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 21:10

no probs - nice to chat to you. I also find the ordering of babies particularly hard - Its not ocado (and I would love to be in that position so I will admit its jealousy).

6 weeks does sound quick - but can I just say that it does sound like you are doing something right to get pregnant so quickly (I know that is zero consolation though to be in your position).

If you aren't one of the acupuncture types, that was a massive help for me in getting over and sucessfully conceiving (I certainly wasnt much more careful on diet or anything).

hairylights · 12/02/2011 21:06

I hear ya sleazy.

I took a month off last time because I was mental! And to be honest this pregnancy in jan was probably too soon ... Six weeks after the last mc. So I know I'm not over that one emotionally let alone this one.

I also find people moaning about their kids difficult (and people "planning a baby for November"). Oh to have back that naivety of never having had a mc or difficulties conceiving! I mean that in the nicest possible way, I just don't think most people know
what it's like.

Thanks for chatting to me it's really helped.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 20:44

good idea to get back to work if you feel up to it ( i was back in work too as soon as I could) -but take it easy. I think it does take months to get over it emotionally (one of reasons I am glad to hang out on here is that I find the ingratitude of people moaning about their younger children, pregnancy on some of the other threads or in rl just too much). I also swear that you can come down with stuff more easily just after a mc (prob no shock).

hairylights · 12/02/2011 20:37

Thanks Lissie. My heart is breaking too :( I am ok half the time, and then about once or twice a day I have to go to bed in tears and sleep because it hurts too much.

I just want it over with now and to go back to work on Monday afternoon, and get on with life.

and congrats on your BFP that's fab news :)

Thanks for the words of advice Sleazey. I think you are right about the mindset being different. I was really frightened last time too - at least I know what to expect this time, and we are only 25 mins from the hospital if needed.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 20:36

there are some good cheesy romantic films on if you have sky- I found that this is the time to reread your jilly cooper type stuff too hairy - anythign to take your mind off things.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 20:28

weeing and emotion good signs lissie - I never felt that sick either.

Hairy - I am 38 so into the bad zone .

I think mc experience worse ( I also had messed up experience with needing an erpc after being conservative management) than actual childbirth. i was so fucking frigthtened (sorry about language) and so taken aback by pain that it really shock me up (I am still scared thinking abotu it) Your mindset with actual birthi is different then , i used hypno birthing and then had epidural at the end. And if your body has been through it once (ie started to dilate fully) it should be easier this time.

I really hope it goes as well as can be expected and is over quickly.

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2011 20:04

hairy, my heart is breaking for you. have some brie for me. there isnt a blood test for egg quality iirc, thats why we were turned down for ivf. sorry if i confused you. ellan, agree, just as frustrating to not get pg. welcome brokeoven, sorry you are here.
in other news, i told dh. then burst into tears. did another test which was bfp and just praying now. i feel ok. tired but not sick. got a little dizzy at my nephews party, but am weeing for england. good job, i need an excuse to gusset-check.

hairylights · 12/02/2011 20:03

Thanks hardandsleazy.

I am scared because last time it didn't work (I had it between ERPCs because the first ERPC didn't work) and I was in terrible pain from it. I was in hospital but this time I'll be at home.

Gas and air and an epidural helped that time but all I'll have this time is Tramadol.

I remember wondering how the heck I'd cope with childbirth if I couldn't cope with a mc at ten weeks (8 weeks size).

Perhaps we'll be doing IVF around the same time! Lets hope it doesn't come to that (what age are you? I'll be forty three, so will not get any help on the NHS).

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 19:57

Hairy I think that all the various things together ( history time to ttc etc) add to a picture of likely fertility as our consultant thought egg quality unlikely to be issue( I had similar issue of getting pregnant then mc at similar stage to you). They were surprisingly reassuring as I was convinced it was me. Brokeoven I found it amazingly reassuring when I had my tests so hope yours are as helpful.

I was morphined up when had medical
Management so your idea not a bad one. Also interested to see what say re ivf (as if no luck by june that is what we will look into).

Am finishing yesterdays wine now. I really should do my 3rd lot of tests on antiphospolipids (Its best of 3 so have had one positive and one negative test).

hairylights · 12/02/2011 19:51

Hi brokenoven we've been on other threads together. I am enjoying this thread for a good moan/rant! Grin

hairylights · 12/02/2011 19:50

lissie what bloods can tell the quality of eggs? I'd understood that the only way to test quality was by looking physically at the eggs, during IVF. Is there something I'm missing?

FSH and AMH I think tell you if you have many left, but I'm intrigued to know a what the quality test is as I want it if it's available!

Thanks ellangirl. It's equally as frustrating not being able to get pregnant in the first place, I know, as I have a relative who tried for years then got lucky on first time IVF.

In other news, I am pigging out on donuts and blue cheese :)

Petrified of the medical management tomorrow - may just take two tramadol at the start and go to bed.

ellangirl · 12/02/2011 19:14

Hello lovely ladies. What an amateur I am at this ttc lark. I have never had a miscarriage, my problem is only not getting pregnant in the first place. You are all so brave and wonderful and I wish with all my heart that you all get the lovely children you want so much.

That's all. Oh, having a big glass of Wine and toasting you all!

brokeoven · 12/02/2011 18:51

Hello all, read the first post on this thread and thought...this is the place for me!

Aged 40

5mcs so far.

Been ttc (since lastmc)again for 14 months now.

Got an appointment next week at Liverpool womens hozzy to get the results of the bloods that they took from me in December.

So hopeful that they will have some answers for me, and thus treatement options.

It has been suggested that my problems may be down to clotting issues, so they tell me an asprin a day may be the answer. If it is then i am madder than a mad thing on mad drugs [anger] because had i taken asprin during my last pg i would now have a sleeping 7 month old upstairs.

Really looking forward to my appointment next week, they just seem to know what they are talking about. Its such a relief.

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2011 18:42

although bloods cant tell the quality of your eggs.

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 18:39

Fsh- think it's a good indicator of egg reserve .Had both done to check what was going on.

OracleInaCoracle · 12/02/2011 18:24

hairy, im so sorry my lovely.

hairylights · 12/02/2011 18:15

sleazy hi. I was told they don't test for amh at the hospital but that my gp might. If not I intend to go private. What's the other test for egg supply?

Hardandsleazy · 12/02/2011 16:52

I think it does work (acupuncture) as helped
Me conceive and have a good pregnancy (and helped me into labour with dd). I left off going for a while post dd and am back into it.

That's crap hairy (ESp the missed erpc- I had to have a erpc on first mc after failed to mc naturally - anything that prolongs the mc is shite). Good luck with tests- i am still waiting to do last round on antiphospholipids but tests were negative on everything else.
The one thing that was ok were amh and whatever the other one is that shows declining egg supply. So it may be that tests give you some more definite ion on if age is a factor.
