Had an mc and need some wine, chocolate and somewhere to moan and cry? This is the place to be! We chat a LOT so it can be hard to keep up, but everyone on here is great and will hold your hand until you get your BFP.

Will come back tomorrow but just wanted to wish nix good luck tomorrow.

ZamMummyInGabs · 29/12/2010 21:15

Hello, can I join?

Just started first proper cycle post-MC which was on 17th November at almost 6 weeks. Back into TTC charting, B6, EPO etc....

This was my 2nd MC - I have 2 DS's born 2006 & 2008. MC no1 was missed, EPRC at 9 weeks Feb 2007. This time all happened by itself and by the time ectopic had been ruled out I was kind of relieved it was 'only' a regular MC Hmm
Not feeling knocked out like last time, I had a feeling that something wasn't right with this PG all along. I still feel a huge lurch when I see anyone who's PG tho, or who has a DC3 as this was supposed to be.... but it will happen soon

I was on the TTC / PG after MC boards in 2007 so to anyone who is also here again....

Sorry for long post!

Dropdeadfred · 29/12/2010 20:33

I have just had my 10th mc.
6 weeks pregnant.
am under Mr Shehata and was taking steroids, clexane, progesterone and aspirin...still lost it at 6 weeks
DH says perhaps we should give up..i am 40 and i have 3 dd's....one with him. Noone can ell us why this happens, I am devastated as i really though this one would work. Am I too old? I have one fallopian tube left after ectopic in 2008.....I know I am lucky to have 3 children - but I cant bear the thought of never being big and prgnant, never giving birth and never feeding my baby ever again...

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 29/12/2010 20:27

Evening ladies [big waves and left over Xmas cake for all]

sorry to see so many new peeps here over Christmas. However this is a great thread to find in otherwise crappy circumstances. As others have said feel free to rant and weep as much as you like here. We all do it!

For what it's worth I think you should take time off if you need it, though I just couldn't face the idea of floating around n my own at home so went back as soon as I could. I also found it was really important to me to feel I had an area of my life that I could take some control over and work allowed me to have that after the mc.

I also found that people's reactions were often unexpected. I found out that my mum had an mc at 4months before she had me. I had no idea about this until I told her about my mc and she was wonderful. My line manager was also amazing and really supportive about me working from home and coming in for as long or short as I could face. On the other hand my best friend seemed really uncomfortable about talking about it. I don't blaim her for this she just could understand really and didn't know what to say to me, I suspect that a few months ago I would have been the same if our situations had been reversed.

nix I'm sure everything will be fine for the scan tomorrow. Smile

I am currently wavering between being convinced I am pregnant (cramps, sore boobs, general confusion, a sudden and overwhelming desire to eat offal) and being convinced that I'm not and all the symptoms are just af ones....except the offal thing which is just odd. Ho hum, same old 2ww really Grin

Mamapower · 29/12/2010 19:57

Just a flying visit girls... to say Hi and hope you all ate and drank well (except those up the duff and I hope you enjoyed stuffing your faces with chocolate in replacement of alcohol Xmas Grin) and got spoilt, I know I did... a lot!!

Sorry to see so many newbies, I hope you will enjoy our company and support in what I hope will be a short stay for you all. I'll catch up in the new year with you all and get to know you all.

Orange wonderful news and big congrat's.

Preeeeety passed my congrat's on the other fred but another big whoop for you!

Also a special little wish for Dachs... fx crossed for you hon.

Finally Pink I haven't been back to that thread and I won't, it's too heartbreaking. Don't do it to yourself hon. I can't remember when your dd was? Mine's the 17th and we plan to do as Izzy did and send up some wish lanterns.

Waves to all xx

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 29/12/2010 19:34

Not when you are bleeding H no, apparently more open & prone to infection. (i didnt know this at the time!) Shower is fine.

hadrian · 29/12/2010 19:27

Hi all - good to catch up on what's going on with everyone. dachs I wish you all the very best of luck with this cycle.

owl and nix congratulations to you both - I can understand why you're shitting it and will keep everything crossed for you.

Just got back from the hospital - the good (!) news is that it looks as though I've passed pretty much everything so hopefully no need for an ERPC or any further intervention. The doctor told me I only need to come back if I'm still bleeding in two weeks time. Still going strong at the moment though Sad

jiggle I'm not sure about when to start TTC again either. In some ways it sounds sensible to wait a cycle and maybe I could do with a break before all the waiting and hoping starts again...but a small part of me is impatient to get going. Sounds like a -ve pg test would be a good starting point - good luck with that ochaye!

Right am going to pour myself a large G&T. By the way nix is having a bath not a good thing?

x

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 29/12/2010 19:03

ochaye i would def recommend charting as post MC your body is totally screwed in terms of knowing WTF you are in cycle, hence the term WTF!! Certainly one for first proper cycle and yes recommend -ve pg test afterwards too. One lady on here has fallen pg in her wtf cycle and there was a momentary panic to remember if there was a -ve test!

PV fab news xxx hope you are poppin them said pills like no tomorrow!!

Owls couple of days ahead of me then, 8+1 today, if anything has stuck in there! I too shitting it for tomorrow....Please god let there be something fluttering away inside me. Gloop has gone and now its a case of wait and see.

wellies its only for dating if you fall during your WTF cycle, i would just be aware of shagging too early, ie if still getting sporadic bleed you may be prone to infection.

I didnt know anybetter, and bathed whilst MC, shagged once bleed had stopped, but it was obviously too early as i bled a day or two later also... ended up with infections x 2 which i am still battling. (bacterial not std types) I dont know if i had it during the MC, after or what.... but if i could change my actions now i would!

My story is Age 34, Mum to DS age 3, MC at 12 weeks Aug 2010 (blighted ovum ie mc but body retained stoopid sac) BFP MC+2cycles later and now 8+1 - shitting self after brown goo and scan tomorrow. If nothing tomorrow i will be questining egg quality and paying for private tests i think! FX

dachs fab news re the ivf this cycle Xmas Grin remember it only takes 1 eggx Did you find any help with improving egg quality at all? What was it, something to do with protein? cant quite remember! Everything crossed and remember its apparently cumulative Grin

Must go, starving for roasties and apple sauce with a sausage and some green stuff and stuffing thrown in....DH delighted!! xxx
Be in touch tomorrow....although not sure what mood x

ochaye · 29/12/2010 18:50

Pretty - I'm confused (not hard!). What's happening?

Very excited for you owlbooty! I completely understand why you keep checking but you're doing great so far. No reason why it shouldn't continue!

Well, I'm now armed with fertility kit that I think would give my DH a heart attack! At least I feel like I'm doing something. I think that's what's helping. Will do my test tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed for a negative (really weird I know!).

PrettyAwfulGoodGirl · 29/12/2010 17:52

Hello loverly Laydees!
So sorry about your loss Jigglebum, Ochaye and Hadrian.
This thread has been more than a life line to me over the last year or so.
Tis a wonderful place to be in these circumstances, IYKWIM.
Lots of love and strength winging its way to you all from me too.

Dachs, I've been finkin boot you.
All the luck in the world that this is the one. X

Thanks to all that know me and my flouncing absent ways, I really appreciate your crossing of limbs and lovely wishes.
I managed to get the ball rolling officially today.
Consultant is on blardy annual leave and there was slight panic in the secretary's voice when I said I needed to see someone ASAP as it will be well into the danger zone of MC on her return.
Good job I bullied persuaded other Doc to give me the roids 'eh.Grin
I asked what the dosage was as I had 5mg of Presdolone and she actually burst out laughing at my tenacity.
I now know I should be taking 20mg, so that's 4 then!
She's calling back tomorrow when it just so happens the original consultant who dealt with me is making a flying visit!
Woo hoo!
Things are going good, dare I say!

wellieboots · 29/12/2010 17:09

epu told me best to wait for AF just so that you know where you are in terms of dates and to ensure that the body has been able to "clear" itself naturally. But they were also pretty clear that it wouldn't do any harm if you fell pg again before having AF so my way of looking at the world is that if you feel ready, go for it :)

RudolfThePinkNosedReindeer · 29/12/2010 17:04

owl I didn't realise how far along you are! It's going to be fine, some positive thinking please missy.

jiggle epu told me to wait for a period but I don't think you need to wait if you feel ready to try again. I'd heard the same about fertility boost-I waited a cycle before trying again as wanted to give my body a chance to have a period and clear anything that was left but sort of wish I hadn't now as there's a few ladies that pass through here within a month Envy so there might be something in the theory, Having said that, it was quite reassuring to have a proper period and know everything had 'reset'. So basically whenever you feel ready to try again.

jigglebum · 29/12/2010 16:37

so sad to read peoples' stories. Really hope things work out for people soon - dachs 7 years must be so hard - fingers crossed for you this time round.

Quick question from me too - did you wait until you had had a normal (ish) cycle before you tried again or can you try again when you feel ready? I have a long cycle anyway (up to six weeks). I read somewhere that you can have a hormone surge after mc which can boost fertilty but that could be rubbish.

owlbooty · 29/12/2010 16:18

No harm in temping/ov sticks but they are likely to be all kinds of mental for this cycle as Pink rightly says. I think I got the last lot of ov tests from Tesco (own brand) and they seemed to work okay. A negative hpt sounds like a good start so you know things are back as they should be.

Back story for me is no kids, and a m/c at 7 weeks back in June. No warning whatsoever; just horrific pain and exciting trip to A&E then weeks of bleeding (3? More than 2 I think). Am now theoretically 8 + 5 weeks updiffed but still obsessively checking knickers every 5 minutes and shitting myself about early scan next week (if I get that far).

RudolfThePinkNosedReindeer · 29/12/2010 15:44

I would definitely do a pregnancy test because it being negative is a good thing (Urgh, it's v weird buying a test in the hope it will be neg!!) and means that if you get another positive before AF, it's definitely a new pregnancy rather than worrying about whether the MC is dragging on. This cycle might well be weird (we call it the WTF cycle here Grin) i don't know whether temping will work this cycle but would have thought ov pee sticks would-I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon!!

ochaye · 29/12/2010 15:39

I have a question (actually, it's probably a few questions!). I'll try and keep it simple!

I'm going to do a pregnancy test today to see if my hormone levels have returned to normal. I think it's a good thing if it comes up negative (remembering I want to try again straight away). Would you agree?

I don't normally chart or check for ovulation but am wondering if i should this month because things might be a bit unusual. What would you do?

If it's worth doing ovulation testing, can anyone recommend where to buy the tests from?

I think that covers it!

RudolfThePinkNosedReindeer · 29/12/2010 15:27

Ochaye sorry crossed posts! The story about your DD's name is beautiful!!

RudolfThePinkNosedReindeer · 29/12/2010 15:23

Blimey, I look away for a few hours and it goes mad in here! So sad that it's not because of an explosion of BFPs either Xmas Sad, and especially so at this time of year. You're all very welcome though, and I hope we can support you am help you through.

hi Hadrian so sorry for your loss :( I would go gentle on yourself, get lots and lots of hugs and tlc from DH and don't attempt too much else. I got signed off for 2 weeks from work and it was a lifesaver as I was a mess. I wasn't sure I felt ready to go back after the 2 weeks really but found that having something else to focus on was helpful. I hope the scan today goes well.

Hi also to Ochaye, can definitely sympathise with the wanting to be pregnant again already. Patience isn't exactly one of my skills so know exactly where you're coming from. Hopefully you won't have to wait long. Sooo understand the weird feeling that you had a secret that only you and DH knew and then all of a sudden it's not there any more :( it's coming back to bite me in the arse too now a bit as I'd expected to go on maternity leave at Christmas so signed up for a pile of truly grotty jobs at work that were due to be completed in January in the expectation of them becoming someone else's problem.... Oh so can't wait to go back now!!!

jiggle I'm sorry you haven't been able To get much support from your mum-I've found mixed levels of sympathy/support in RL, and often found that you'll get surprising levels of support from people you would never have expected. My mum has tried very hard to be supportive but she had two straightforward pregnancies so doesnt understand where im coming from really. I think unfortunately unless you've been through it, it's very hard to empathise. I hadnt told anyone apart from my mum that I was pg, but have told almost everyone close to me about MC and when you start talking it seems to be sadly common. I've actually found it helpful to talk about it and I hope that in case it does happen to any of my friends, they'll feel like less of a failure or freak for knowing that it does happen to other people iyswim.

wellie so sorry about what's happened to you too. :( I didn't have erpc but I bled for 5 weeks on and off. I would second what the others say about phoning the epu if you're worried or if you start to feel ill. Have you done a pregnancy test to check whether it's gone negative? I found phoning the EPU more helpful than gp, as gp seems generally clueless around mc related issues. Alternatively I've heard Nhs direct can be helpful by I don't have any experience of them myself.

lady I hadn't noticed the existence of the busses until this holiday when I've had more time to scout around MN, I'd assumed they were for people that had got a BFP and knew their due date-I was completely gob smacked when I realised they are purely aspirational!!!! Hehehe I was soooo tempted to go and post something similar but thought it would be way too harsh to spoil what is such an exciting and hopeful time for them . Pretty much all of my friends in RL are going to stop the pill in 2011, and I'm finding it tough to hold my tongue when they say things like, "I'm going to stop the pill on [date] as I'd like a baby born in [date]" - not sure I was ever quite that naive but probably not far off!!!

dachs I have everything crossed for you for this cycle. I'm sorry you feel negative, I can completely understand why (((hugs)))

Oh backstory by the way is that I'm trying for my first, had a natural mc at 8 and a bit weeks in June. When I started bleeding i managed to make enough fuss that they agreed to give me a scan that showed a baby that was small for dates (looked like 6 weeks) but with a heartbeat so they told me it would prob be ok. Sadly it wasn't but I feel grateful for having seen something as I would never have believed there was even anything there otherwise iyswim.

ochaye · 29/12/2010 15:13

Oh dachs that's a hard story to read. I'll hope for a good cycle for you this time. My DD2 is called Hope. When I was due to give birth to her one of my best friends was due to test on her fourth and last round of IVF - it just seemed like a good name given the timing. It was positive and i can't begin to tell you how happy i was (and still am) for her.

I can understand you trying not to get your hopes up, but I'll do it for you Smile.

Thanks for your story too Izzy. You've all be through so much on here. That must've been a terribly sad time for you. And like you say, such a shock after having a good 13 week scan. There just never seems to be a time we can just relax and think it'll all be ok, does there?

Hi there wellieboots. I just joined this thread today too. I think you'll like it here Smile.

IzzyWizzyletsgetChristmassy · 29/12/2010 14:21

Ps dachs best of luck for this cycle, I really really hope it works out for you xx

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 29/12/2010 14:18

Jiggle bum like the name.... If mine was similar it would probably be huge wobbly arse :)

DachshingThroTheSnow · 29/12/2010 14:11

Sorry to see so many newbies - here's my back story

TTC#1 for 7 years, pg earlier this year, mmc at 8 weeks at the start of August, managed medically rather than surgically. Bled heavily for about 3 days, then it slowed down but carried on for a couple of weeks altogether. Any concerns about bleeding etc then talk to your GP - it's better to catch things earlier if there is a potential problem. Since the mc have had IUI and then IVF, neither of which resulted in a BFP. Am starting another round of IVF today. Feels like it's my last chance, with no possibility of success and therefore a futile waste of time and money. (You're supposed to think positive but I don't want to get my hopes up to have them dashed all over again, so I'm starting off negative in the hopes that it will have the opposite effect).

nix hope you're ok out there. i'll be thinking of you tomorrow - i'm sure it'll be fine...

owl thanks for the hug
