Ladies from Vol4 - welcome to our new home.

I did chart for a while but my temps when I was ovulating and when pregnant didn't seem to follow the charts online. I think I'll try again next cycle though (if it ever comes).

I've been doing a clearblue opk test for the past two days and they have both been the same. The first line is only very slightly lighter than the second line. So there's high levels of LH in me still but not enough to be actually ovulating. The CBFM gave me 15 days of high before giving up last week and flashing m at me.

Does anyone think I'm still in with a chance this late with BFN?

chocciechip · 02/03/2011 15:51

lychees I'm so so sorry.

keziah Yes, I can totally see why you wouldn't want to say anything negative given what you've gone through already. We were offered counselling before we started but I declined, for the same reason. I genuinely think the slump in mood is not 'you' though: as well as the obvious high stakes involved and all the emotions that go with that, you're also pumping yourself full of hormones and that's going to play havoc on your moods as well.

amum On the fibroids, you can be reassured that they would have seen them on the scans. I've got fibroids, and even with my untrained eye I can see them when they're doing an ultrasound.

It took me 3-4 cycles after my MCs before my cycles settled down again so it might be that that's what's happening with you...? How many cycles have you had since your last MC?

I'm wondering, have you thought about charting at all? Because knowing what your temps were doing during times like these would give you more clues into whether you hadn't ovulated yet and what your body was trying to do now. If there's any chance you have PCOS as boba has, having charts to hand might also help to get a speedier diagnoses because temps can sort of indicate this too.

aMuminwaiting · 02/03/2011 14:32

They were 28 on the dot throughout my teens then in my 20's 27-34 days but after my second miscarriage went to 38, 40 and this time who knows?

They have always been very heavy. Fibroids runs in my family but I was told very firmly that they would have seen it on the scans if I had them.

Today I did a CM check and it is now super stretchy and clear. My GP told me to take the cyclogest for the past two days though just in case so I guess it could be that? I've never taken it before so don't know. Also had quite a sharp nagging sensation on my left side (ovary area). So now I'm thinking somehow I'm ovulating incredibly late. Going to do an opk later to see.

Tv and films make pregnancy look so damn simple ...the most natural thing in the world blah blah blah. It friggin is not! We are all proof of that.

StormBird · 02/03/2011 13:24

Congrats Loup such great news.

Sorry about the BFN Lychees I hope that the next IUI if you decide to go ahead is successful. Am thinking of you.

I know the feeling amuminwaiting. I have polycystic ovaries which was causing the lack of periods. I had to wait 16 months after coming off the pill to find this out though. After a referall to the fertility clinic they diagnosed me by an ultrasound. I then had to undergo an HSG to check my tubes were clear. They weren't due to a blockage caused by a childhood operation. I was then given Clomid but told to go on IVF waiting list. Anyway I did fall pregnant after second cycle of Clomid & apparently it was my blocked tube that ovulated so miracles do happen!

Are your cycles very irregular or is this the first time?

OP posts:
aMuminwaiting · 02/03/2011 10:54

Boba was your 100 day cycle because you didn't ovulate and went straight into the next one? That's what I'm wondering is going on with me and if I should just reset my monitor to see if I'm still on highs or back down to low again. I think I'll get a standard opk today to check as the CBFM won't let me do a test until CD9.
I never thought I'd actually wish my AF would come! I just want to know that things are working down there.

boba82 · 02/03/2011 10:19

Lychees sorry to hear that hun x x x

emmaloup I didn't have many side effects. I took the tablets at night time as I'd read this minimises possible side effects. I did get a bit heavier though but wasn't doing anything different so I put that down to the clomid.

I got pregnant after 2nd cycle on it. Was convinced AF was coming as well. My first cycle it took my cycle to a 42 day and the second was going to be a 35 day cycle so pretty convinced it would have got me to the elusive 28 day cycle by the next time.

Have you got PCOS?

OP posts:
Lychees · 02/03/2011 09:03

Sadly, it's a BFN for me so it's most likely a third and final try of medicated IUI then possibly IVF [?]. Too much to think about right now.

Good luck to you all.

Keziahhopes · 01/03/2011 22:25

Choccie - I can have up to 5 sessions with the ivf, but that is for all cycles you do - and generally you can't go until it has failed!! I don't want to say anything negative in case they tell me to stop Sad

aMuminwaiting - no idea about period, but know some people here had long delays sometimes - Boba, now a bfp, once had a cycle over 100 days!!

aMuminwaiting · 01/03/2011 19:47

Yes the opk for the monitor. My GP examined me and said there was no sign of period starting, however if I was pregnant then I should have a positive HCG by now. I'm really depressed. Today is one year since I lost my baby boy and I would have loved some good news!
What could be happening? Any ideas? I don't even know when I can reset my monitor because I haven't actually had a period!

emmaloupolman · 01/03/2011 15:21

Hi Boba82

I started it on the 7th of feb and i am due on sunday
How long was you on it for?
Did you have many side affects?

boba82 · 01/03/2011 15:18

emma welcome. I was on clomid so may be able to help if you have any questions.

OP posts:
emmaloupolman · 01/03/2011 14:44

Is there anyone on here on clomid? i'm new

chocciechip · 01/03/2011 14:21

amuminwaiting When you say 'test stick', do you mean an 'ovulation predictor test' stick (OPK), which measures for your LH surge? If so, I believe that an OPK will give a positive response in the presence of HCG (pregnancy hormone) as well as a positive result in presence of LH. So its telling you one of two things: either you are pregnant, or you have high LH in your body. Note that a pregnancy test will ONLY give a positive response in presence of HCG, so this remains the only way to rule out uncertainty. amum - I know this because I did this last year, accidentally used an OPK thinking it was an HPT and I spent half a day thinking I was pg, getting DH's hopes up as well, before realising my mistake and finding out via an HPT that I was not. It was devastating. But if AF still doesn't come, and you don't get a BFP on an HPT, then you should mention to your GP next week that you had high LH at the end of your cycle. It may or may not mean anything ... in my case it meant nothing and AF did eventually come. I'm sorry this still leaves you with uncertainty.

lychees Fingers and toes crossed for you for tomorrow.

keziah Have you been offered counselling as part of the process? You're going through a lot, and the stakes and hopes are so high it is understandable that you'll have bigs highs and equally big lows as you go through it. Is the cd any help at all? I'm keeping dh posted on your progress and we're both rooting for you. Hang in there, you've moved mountains already.

loup It is a great thread .. and if you find you have any pg related questions you can find us all over here on what is turning into another great support thread too. Smile

aMuminwaiting · 01/03/2011 12:28

GP said there's no sign of my period coming. But with two negative tests yesterday she's not convinced I'm pregnant either. So I have to wait until next Thursday and see her again if it still hasn't come.
I did a test stick from the CBFM today (been banned by DH from getting anymore HCG tests until Tuesday) and it's come up with a very strong line on the wee end of the stick (tmi?!) and almost as dark on the other line. Even when I had high days and peaks in the other months it wasn't this dark.

What's going on? Am I ovulating again?! Should I call my DH and drag him to bed?!

Loup23 · 01/03/2011 07:21

Popping in to say good luck for lychees on weds and keziah on thurs for the scan.

You girls have been great so would like to stay here if that's ok? (and god forbid the worst, I'll be back on the cbfm if anything happens and I know this would be the best place to get support for that)...

X

Keziahhopes · 28/02/2011 18:51

Congrats loup. All the best lychees - the highs sound good for this attempt.

As for me, suddenly hit that this cycle unlikely to work - the mood has come from nowhere, but have lost all my positivity now.

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 28/02/2011 18:47

Hi Lychees good to hear from you - fx for you!

And loup very excited for you!

boba82 · 28/02/2011 17:59

Congratulations loup

Lychees Glad you're ok. Good luck for testing. x

Popping in to wish Keziah luck.

Thanks for the shout outs, Boba ... I hope that you and bump are keeping well.

I'm due to test this Wednesday following our second IUI attempt and although I'm not feeling too hopeful, I'm keeping my spirits up. Have not decided what the next step will be if this one fails .... will have to wait and see.

Still using my CBFM, this cycle I got highs and then my first peak on CD12 and I got basted on the second peak so timings were definitely better this time [last time, no highs, no natural LH surge by CD20 so had to have a trigger shot and was basted on CD22].

Congrats, Loup and Clockspotter.

All the best to everyone else.

chocciechip · 28/02/2011 16:59

loup Wow, congrats! Grin

Loup23 · 28/02/2011 15:32

Oh I caved and did the FR at work.... faint but definitely a BFP! I can't believe it.....

I had a little spotting yesterday AM (tmi) so hoping it sticks. Grin

Loup23 · 28/02/2011 14:40

thanks choccie i bought a first response today so will wait for FMU tomorrow and test again (unless the AF gets me first!). Even if she does, the one good thing this cycle has brought is a longer luteal phase, which I can only put down to B6 and angnus castus!

Fx and good luck to all those on the 2ww x

chocciechip · 28/02/2011 13:57

amuminwaiting My GP surgery had the same system, and the only way we could beat it was by queuing outside the door before they opened and rushing to make an appointment at the desk. It usually worked, but the queues got so long they changed the system again and it now has to be an emergency or at least a 3 week wait to see my GP. I now by-pass appointments by writing to my GP beginning with the words: "I've tried to get an appointment but...." then telling her what's wrong and asking what I need to do. I'm quite often not sick, but just need advice and waiting three weeks is silly. She does write back, so I think it works for her too. Might either of these methods work for you? I think you're wise to wait a couple of days before testing again - I really hope you get a positive result.

keziah Good luck for the scan. I'm very excited for you!

loup If you've waited for at least 14 days minimum after ovulation then I think most brands will probably give results. But some people have slow rising HCG levels, and the brands promises are based on averages which is why its never over until AF comes. I got BFPs on the cheapies as well as the others, although cheapies never gave a strong line - and I have NEVER got a BFP before 14DPO no matter what the brand promises. I would keep testing every second day - using FMU - until AF comes (and I hope she doesn't).
