Hi girls

Sorry for the long time no posts from me but I was really trying to not 'obsess' about things.

My news is that after seeing my GP for bloods and a smear and all coming back fine and hubby having his little swimmers tested which were again fine, I was referred to my local hospital. She told me to get day 2 bloods done and an x-ray of my bits to check his bits were reaching my bits! So there I was waiting for AF so I could make the appointment but she didn't come on day 32. I'm also charting BBT and this has remained high since ovulating. So I did some research on the internet and it said this could be a sign. I tested and

I GOT MY BFP!!!!!! Smile

I can hardly believe it. Early days still so lots of caution but after nearly 2 years of trying it came.

I'm so happy but scared in case it doesn't stick. So girls, I may be leaving this forum and going to the next stage along. Thanks for all your comments, support and humour along the way. Hope to see lots of you over in the pregnancy rooms soon.

Hugs and best wishes to each and every one of you. Missyraines.

essenceofSES · 19/03/2011 21:01

tilly and SBC - fingers crossed for the next few days for you!

brettgirl - I don't find OPKs as reliable as CBFM. The window when they show a positive result can be really narrow.

Olismum - sorry for your mc. I had 2mmc before I had DS and know how traumatic it can be. Good luck for your Christmas baby!

Hello everyone else :)

I finally got my first high of this cycle today (CD15) and had SWI last night so I guess that's a start!

SBC - good answer, though KC is the real expert!! I have just been here the longest now I think!

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 19/03/2011 18:04

tilly I think we are at the same point in the cycle - I'm also day 27 - have somehow managed to resist the urge to test thus far (been symptom spotting like crazy)

Am planning to wait until Monday - have the usual background thoughts that AF will arrive tomorrow night though!

FX!

tillydream · 19/03/2011 09:54

keziah I have everything crossed for you - it sounds like its going well so for. i've been there and the best piece of advice is to be kind to yourself as much as possible.

Olismum so sorry to hear your news (((())))) Hope that you find support and tlc on here to help you.

I tested at day 25 and unsurprisingly got a BFN - stupid stupid stupid!! Why do I do that to myself! Day 27 today no sign either way though :((((

Love to all

Tilly xx

brettgirl2 · 19/03/2011 08:20

Thanks - that's really helpful.

Bizarrely I have a peak today, despite doing an internet cheapie OPK yesterday and not getting ANY reading on it at all Hmm

Oh well, will give it a go anyway Grin

Ilovekittyelise · 18/03/2011 17:45

broody - you probably ovulated yesterday (i usually ovulated second peak day) so there's a slim chance that the egg is still lurking tonight; however, sperm can last up to 5 days so there's also a chance that sunday's sperm could have fertilised the egg; annoying time for peaks when hes away; not a great month for you timing wise but you could be lucky x

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 18/03/2011 17:33

Broody it's always worth a go - get SWI!!!

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 18/03/2011 17:32

brettgirl - I think Keziah is the expert, but to answer a bit:
1 - The two lines would indicate that it has picked up some LH,but the machine reads the level so probably as it is the first cycle it is not high enough for it to read it as a definite surge
2 - CBFM reads both oestrogen and the LH surge - you get a high from the oestrogen then the peaks with the LH surge.
3 - It does take a couple of cycles so that it can work out what is high levels for you - mine took until this cycle to give me peaks (but I am PCOS, so only worked this month as been given meds).
4 - Missing a test doesn't matter too much as long as it's not around ovulation (likely) time.

Oops - Sunday, not Synday - I have slimming world on my mind Blush

Broody1976 · 18/03/2011 16:12

Hi ladies -

First month for me with the CBFM. Only issue is my OH works away through the week so we only get to have nookie at the weekend. We did on Synday last week and Tues this week I had a high, Wednesday & Thursday were both peaks and today another high. He'll be home tonight so we'll have some bedroom action.

Do you think we have a hope of catching?

It's all soooooooo confusing.

Thanks :)

brettgirl2 · 18/03/2011 13:43

Hi all, sorry to be rude but can I gatecrash to ask you ladies a couple of questions? I am guessing you understand quite a lot about these.

I am on my first cycle of using it and to be honest it's been an odd one - longer than usual. I finally got a 'high' reading at CD20, which was encouraging as I was starting to get some fertile symptoms. It is now CD23 and it still says high rather than peak. This morning on the stick the 2 lines were pretty well the same colour whereas previously one had been darker. So my questions are:

  1. What do the 2 lines I have googled it but not managed to come up with a sensible answer
  2. The OPK sticks I tried fleetingly before said not to test first thing but the CBFM says to test first thing. Why is this? Surely it means it won't pick up an LH surge anyway?
  3. I have been told that it might take a couple of cycles to get a peak as the monitor needs to get to know your body. The thing that is concerning me is that my cycle is a bit erratic (eg 28-35 days). So if it is different every month will it actually work it out?
  4. What happens if you miss a test or forget to switch it on? I have a couple of days stumbled to the toilet first thing and completely forgotten (although when it was on low)

I must admit I am yet to be converted, I find it really frustrating that it doesn't tell you why your fertility is low, medium or high and what hormones its reading. Confused

Thanks ever so much in advance of your help.

olismum23 · 18/03/2011 13:14

The lovely lady is going to reset it for me and put me on CD2 she is also including 5 test sticks yey, I prob be getting my hopes up but if i did fall pregnant this month i would be due the 25th of Dec :)

Keziahhopes · 17/03/2011 23:43

Yes, today will be CD1 for the monitor. Do you have sticks? Some chemists charge £25 a box, hence I became a fan of amazon!! Yes, the people here are really lovely and we have supported each other so much. You have 4 days for it to come, here is hoping! thanks, am hoping it is my month this monthx

olismum23 · 17/03/2011 23:30

Thank you so much kezia that is really helpful i did start bleeding proper today so this is Cd1 i suppose hope it comes in time!

I have my Fx this is your month for BFP!

Thank you for letting me join your lovely thread xx

Keziahhopes · 17/03/2011 23:05

olismum - when you get your monitor you need to press the m button on it on days 1-5 of your cycle (not matter which) and tell it what day you are on. Then the first month you use it the monitor collects lots of data on you so uses lots of sticks. You can choose to press the button at a time that suits you as you have to use the stick 3 hrs before or after when you press the button. (due to my job I couldn't press it at 9am when I wanted to, so made my dh take it to work and press it Grin!!!). It will tell you whether the day is: low, high or peak. We all vary as to how many high's we get, generally get 2 peaks, then down to high. Peak is ovulation, high is time to have sex as well as high. I used 20 sticks first month, then 10 sticks after that - although I realised that after my peak and highs no point using them so saved a few sticks and cost by not using them after my last peak!

For buying sticks I found Amazon the cheapest - around £13, £14 for 20 sticks. So at £7 a month, cheaper than the pregnancy tests I had been addicted to, helped me know when was the right time to have sex and took the stress out of a long ttc journey. Sadly had to go down ivf route due to male factors but the clinic and gp used the fact I had used a monitor to see I was serious etc. In fact stopped using it for now (but here is home!!) and had 2 friends want to borrow it!! Feel free to add yourself to the stats - as you can see there has been a lot of bfp's here in past few months, and quite a few people took a while to get their bfp!

MiniH · 17/03/2011 21:22
