boba82 · 11/12/2010 11:54

lychees that's great news, Clomid's not so bad but hopefully you get your BFP before then. At least you can try and relax & enjoy xmas now. x

keziah fx they lasted and have done the job!

Zebedee - have heard of putting the tree in a playpen, if you have one, with the presents there also so they can't be opened early... bless him, eating baubles Grin

Ilovekittyelise - my cycle varies from 26-34 days, which I never knew before I had a monitor... on a 28 day cycle I have 2 highs, from day 12/13, 2 peaks then 1/2 highs.

Frustrating this month, my lovely dh ill (in bed, been sick) just at the wrong time - isn't it awful to even write that... so missed my peak! Why this month matters more when others I have not got pg I don't know, but just have to hope the semen last long enough like they say in the text books - sorry for TMI!!!

Lychees, glad you have agreed action for Jan, hope that takes the pressure off you both for Christmas x

Just updated my stats!

Kitty - My cycle's going OK, had 5 days of 2 bars on the monitor now, but that's common for me. If I don't get 3 bars tomorrow then I'll assume I'm not ovulating this month or my cycles a bit messed up.

I started the BBT thing but seem to vary widely from day to day between 36.0 and 36.4 so I'm not sure when I'm supposed to be able to work out when the ovulation peak on that is when I fluctuate so much - maybe my cheap thermometer is rubbish. Anyway I prefer the monitor, its more of an experiment doing the BBT thing.

Its the nanny's first settling in day today with DS. I've just left DS with her alone for an hour and it seems to be going OK. Haven't heard him cry yet - perhaps he doesn't miss me?? Should I be pleased?! He's had far more attention today than ever - he's probably quite enjoying it! Back to work straight after New Year, so I'm not really looking forward to Christmas this year, because that means the end of my wonderful year of maternity leave with DS! Here's hoping for another asap!

Any idea how to make a tree DS-proof?? We went round a friends yesterday for afternoon tea and once he'd spotted her tree there was no getting DS away from it. He tried to eat her baubles and pull off the lights. We had to leave after half an hour because he was doing my head in!

Ilovekittyelise · 10/12/2010 13:25

thanks lychees....really got my fingers crossed for you and everyone else. christmas is a very hard time to be desperate for a baby, especially going out and buying gifts for other people's kids...you wish you had your own little girl to buy a fluffy pink bunny for, that sort of thing [fbear]

Lychees · 10/12/2010 12:37

Thanks for the positive story, Ilovekittyelise.

I generally have a 30-32 day cycle and get my peaks on CD14-16 but three out of four months, I don't get highs at all, I just get a peak that sneaks up on me. This is because, I believe, my LH surge happens at the same time as my oestrogen starts rising. Not sure if this = hormonal issues . When I do get highs, it's normally only for a couple of days before the peak. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone else.

Ilovekittyelise · 10/12/2010 11:55

hey lychees thats wonderful news. if its any help i had a friend who was trying to conceive for almost 2 years and was just starting to investigate and got pregnant naturally...either way i hope you have your BFP soon x

im on day 10, not a sniff of a hi yet. my first month was high day 8 to 12 then peak on day 13.

to anyone else with a 27/28 cycle and day 13 or 14 ovulation when do you normally get your first high?

Lychees · 10/12/2010 11:18

Just an update from me. We went to our consultant yesterday and we are having a go at medicated IUI in Jan. I have my Clomid and first scan booked for the new year.

It was a really tough decision to make; finally admitting that we need a bit of assistance after what will be 18 months of not a sniff of a BFP when [luckily] DS was conceive easily, a diagnosis of unexplained fertility and having to use savings which had been earmarked for other stuff ...

However, this month was the first month that DH felt upset at the arrival of AF, the first month that he hasn't been my source of positivity.

Anyway, I'm feling optimistic. I know, it might not work but there is always the chance. Who knows? I might get my natural BFP before ever needing to take the Clomid or have IUI. There might be a few Xmas natural BFPs to celebrate on here ... let's hope so Xmas Smile.

Keziahhopes · 09/12/2010 22:03

roastie - no you can self refer to go private. But your gp will be contacted by the private company if you need ivf/icsi etc for the welfare of child check so they will end up knowing at some point, if you get that far.

Sorry I got your dates wrong I love kittyelise when I updated, oops!

Ilovekittyelise · 09/12/2010 20:23

zebedee how is your cycle going..im on day 9 and still showing low; not sure whether the MC is going to delay ovulation (or whether it will happen this cycle at all)...

everyone else hope you are all ok. had our work christmas party last night; i work for a pub company...it was messy; but fun!

Ilovekittyelise · 09/12/2010 18:44

Have updated mine as was a aday behind. still on low, not sure whether i will ovulate at normal time of not.

Roastie & Keziah, I completely bypassed my GP when I went private as I thought that she wasn't taking me seriously. I just phoned my the private clinic and was offered an appointment for a few days later. I have just had a follow up .... had to wait a little bit longer because my consultant has been on hols but again, there was no problem getting an appointment.

roastie · 09/12/2010 17:23

Hi Keziahhopes, do i have to be referred by my GP to go private then? I thought i just needed to call my local Bupa hospital and get an appointment??

Thanks for the welcome! Sorry its taken a coupla days to get back KC, been snowed under with work.

Not sure about UCL as seems to be anything between 28 & 32! CD 3 but think I might have joined this thread prematurely as CBFM and sticks still not arrived and if they're not here by Saturday will have to wait another month Sad. If they don't come, will lurk until Jan.

Best of luck everyone!

Keziahhopes · 09/12/2010 13:35

H roastie - if using a monitor helps you, then it doesn't matter what others say. ?Hope Feb appointment goes well, as for going private at this time of year by the time you have your referral, with christmas etc, doubt you will be seen much before Feb anyway at this stage!!

KC - regarding your dh's SA and crowing, i would seriously request that as semen are replaced every 3 months that he has a 2nd SA just to check that the results are consistent (and that hanging over him will help you!!) ... it was only in the 4th SA that we really understood what the problem was with dh - the antibody problem, which although numbers vary is the issue. for first 11mths I was told it was me, despite the only issues picked up being 2 blood test levels not being right.

sufferingbabyfever · 08/12/2010 21:50

Hey all!

So my reign of 11 days of high finally ended today with a crashing low.

Bit depressing really.

roastie · 08/12/2010 19:12

Hi Lychees, i think it will make me feel like i have some control too and make me less stressed. I havent been worrying about what day im on in my cycle to much as we have been trying to BD every other day plus every day round when i think i should be ovulating.

I have just finished a 6 month course of clomid and have my next hospital appointment early Feb. But it just feels like there must be something else i could be doing. I cant see what harm it will do using the monitor. and i have heard that even though 2 years is a long time others have got pregnant naturally after trying much longer.

Im trying to weigh up whether to go private or not. But the thought of an £500 bill for a blood test scares me!

I think maybe i will just do the monitor till feb and see what happens, i can't be any worst off than i am now?

Lychees · 08/12/2010 17:52

Welcome Roastie, I can't really understand why someone would say it would make things worst. When you've been ttc a while, it's good to feel like you have some control and hope.

I think the CBFM can still be useful. For me, it made me realise that I really had no idea when I was ovulating as my periods seem fairly regular but my ov day can still really vary. Having the CBFM also means I don't have to "remember" what cycle day I'm on and this means it's easier to stop thinking about where I am DPO so it's easier to switch off from thinking about ttc all the time and has somehow made me less obsessive.

Our status is also unexplained infertility. But it's secondary for us as we are lucky to already have DS. It's frustrating not knowing why its not happening ... I'm sure you know what I mean. Are you waiting for "assistance"?

roastie · 08/12/2010 17:38

Hi Im new to this post. I have started using my Clear Bkue Fertility monitor today as its day 1 of my period :(. We have been TTC for 2 years now and have both been tested and have been told we have unexplained infertility. I was on mumsnet earlier and someone said to me that because i have been TTC for 2 years now im passed using the monitor and it wil only make things worst?? Im not sure what to think about this we are also going to try concieve plus as far as i think i dont think 2 years means im passed this stage. What does anyone else think???
