Good Morning Ladies...

Sorry have been awol for a whileHmm
Have been hiding under the duvet for most of the last month...hoping to keep hold of my little bean!! I had my BFP on the 20th November...but am only just starting to believe/hope it's actually maybe happening.

May sound daft but after three losses back to back this year I have just been expecting this one to be the same (so far so good tho).

I am now 8weeks 3days, and this is the furthest I have gotSmile...we had an early scan at 6 and 7 weeks as I'm under the care of the miscarriage clinic in Liverpool, and thankfully at 7 weeks they detected a heartbeat. My consultant says if we can get to 10 weeks then the risk of loss is 2%...so I'm kinda wishing the next week and a half away...I feel we have had the best early Christmas present ever.

After such a sad year I had almost given up, iI had basically written the whole thing off, I decided to start Acupuncture basically to try and de-stress. The lady was recommended to me, and if also Zita West acreditated in fertility.
I told her my history of the past year, and she set to work on balancing my hormones, emotions, and my conception meridians ( all cut as had 2 sections?!!)...and after two sessions I was pregnant again, so continued with treatment to strengthen me and hopefully the pregnancy.

I would never have believed that it could have such an impact until I experienced it myself...I am still going now and she really helps with my neausea and energy levels...it mat all be coincidence, but I'm sticking with itSmile.

If it's ok I would like to stay on this thread for a while longer? just not ready to move yet.

I hope everybody is doing ok, and looking forward to Christmas...here's to a brand new year filled full of fresh hope for allXmas Smile.

Merry Christmas ladies X

Husband complaining- have been at it since day 10- now day 23- doesnt winge when is his idea......
Have even offerred to skip foreplay. But apparently that makes him feel less loved!!!!!!!
Off to rummage through lingerie....
Merry christmas and baby dust to all, xx

Lychees · 23/12/2010 16:31

Roastie ... cold medicines. Lol Xmas Grin.

Yes, AF could be actually late for the right reasons so that I won't need to take Clomid or have my scan. But it's unlikely ... I just can't imagine getting a natural BFP now.

In case, I don't get a chance to come back on here tomorrow; Merry Christmas All and loads and loads of luck for some BFP's on here soon.

roastie · 23/12/2010 16:26

Good Luck with AF Lychees. Why do you avoid cold meats???

Lychees · 23/12/2010 15:29

Hi All, yes, it is Christmas Eve Eve Xmas Smile.

I'm tea-total so drinking is not a problem but I have avoided cold meds on the 2ww and with my hives, I have been avoiding taking anti-histamines during the 2ww, too.

I'm still waiting for AF so the timing for my first scan is looking good.

roastie · 23/12/2010 13:59

Merry Christmas Everyone. Can't believe its Christmas eve tomorrow Yippeee!

Im on the dreaded 2WW, and i started thinking should i even be drinking in the next 2 weeks?? I dont normally drink, just on special occassions, so i normally go months and months with out any alcohole. So im not quite sure what to do. Anyone else on the 2WW and avoiding anything over the Christmas Period?

Also are there anything else i should really be avoiding at this time???

zebedeethezebra · 23/12/2010 12:30

Hi girls

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to Christmas!

Carloss if you have 2 bars on the monitor it shows you are fertile but haven't ovulated yet. The third bar shows the peak of hormone (LH) that your body produces just before ovulating. Some people don't ovulate every month though, so don't worry if you don't get 3 bars one month. I can have 5 days of 2 bars before I get 3. Some people can have longer that I think.

But if you have several months in a row without ever getting 3 bars then that is worth mentioning to your doctor.

I have a rotten cold and I'm dying to have a good snort of Vicks Sinex to clear out all the gunk. But I'm in the 2 week wait period so daren't. The saline nasal spray isn't working particularly brilliantly. What do other people do during the 2ww, do you avoid all cold remedies completely?

Carloss - with a monitor you don't get an egg picture at all - you get a number of bars, 1 bar for low, 2 bars for high and 3 bars for a peak (ie egg) so it sounds like yours is working well for you.

fr00tbat · 22/12/2010 08:33

Well things have got stranger. Did test this am -still high -but window not wet all the way across When comparing sticks manually- day 19 - dark blue line on left ( ie monitor end) v pale on right ( wee end), day 20, left line paler, right line a bit darker, today- no left line, very dark right line. Think this means ovulating , but monitor says no-presumably cos stick not wet all the way- dipped for 10 s and normally ok- can you get it to retest- will it pick up peak tomorrow or is that it this month???
Too complex.......

essenceofSES · 21/12/2010 22:07

Hello!

Yay for peak roastie

Fr00tbat - my cycles are usually 28-30 days but I normally ovulate around CD19. Also whenever I've been ill, my ovulation is always delayed. I bet that's what has happened and you'll have a slightly longer cycle this month.

Lychees - fingers crossed for that delay in AF for you (or even better no AF!!)

KC - thank you! I'm feeling better now. I'm sure it was hormonal related.
Cranberry and apple chutney sounds scrummy!

Keziah - hello!!

All ok here except that DH has manflu and has gone to bed when it's time for SWI!!!! Hopefully he'll be feeling better tomorrow!

Lychees · 21/12/2010 11:53

Hello All.

Congrats on yoru peak, Roastie.

Fr00tbat, if your UCL is 30 - 38 and averages at 34. It's highly likely that you peak anywhere from CD16 - 24. I've had cycles of 34 days and not peaked until CD20 so you could be heading for a longer than 34 day cycle .. the flu is bound to mess up your hormones, too.

AF is due tomorrow and I've got all the usual symptoms but I'm hoping for a delay as we are starting IUI in Jan and my first scan is booked on the 4th. If AF arrives tomorrow, the 4th will be CD14 which means I may have already ovulated and then that IUI attempt will have to be abandoned. I don't normally ov that early but I'll be on Clomid so this may change Xmas Hmm.

roastie · 21/12/2010 11:18

Thanks Kitty, I think that makes sense. I feel surprisingly positive at the moment as I was convinced I didn?t ovulate at all!

Fingers crossed this is the month because we have been trying 2 years and its becoming a drain. It?s really hard to stay positive about it all the time, so while I?m feeling like this I am going to make the most of it!

fr00tbat · 21/12/2010 08:47

Hmmmm, on phone at the moment so will definately bugger-up stats if try to change now-will attempt from laptop later. Seemed to have lost a day- now day 20 and no peak!!!!! Have had highs since day 9, do you think there is something wrong with my monitor? Had clear peak day 19 last month. Not charting as have had flu and also am really bad at remembering. Snow deep here.......wondering if should venture out.

just updating ... awaiting af as I made mistake of buying cheap pregnancy tests, so know am not pregnant this month. Was strangely hopeful this month. Now over 2 full years of ttc so seriously! At least the nnext few weeks I know am not fertile, so .... and then it is next year!!

Ilovekittyelise · 20/12/2010 20:35

Hi roastie

congrats on your peak; i've never got a peak on an ov stick either, but then i've never really used them consistently, or at the right time!!

Ok, on the taking a few cycles thing. It actually more the period of high fertility that it takes more time to adjust to and accurately predict (ie change in oestrogen level). Have you still got the booklet that came with your monitor - basically the LH that predicts your peak is at a very low level the rest of the cycle so its pretty clear cut when the level is higher (graph very low and flat and them BOOM there it is, just like on the ov sticks).

oestrogen (a higher level of which indicates you are approaching your peak/LH surge)is a bit more subjective as the level varies throughout the cycle and from woman to woman - if you look at the graph you will see what i mean - you see the level rising gradually through the first half of your cycle; it varies from woman to woman what level of oestrogen triggers the LH surge, so it often predicts high fertility a little soon until it has built up a baseline profile of your hormone fluctuations...

not sure how clearly i explained this...
