Morning ladies

having just posted on the 'never test early its stupid' thread, knowing i was pregnant but only 11dpo i tested and got a positive this morning (love the clearblue digital!).

its my 3rd pregnancy of 2010 and im really hoping that this is the one xxx

Ilovekittyelise · 29/12/2010 18:13

knackered thats a very interesting explanation you just gave....nothing new but somehow brought it home to me with a bump...

all my life i have had a bit of a weird sensitivity to progesterone, for example, i can't take the pill at all, every time i have tried it, it has made me constantly nauseous. every month before my period arrives, i also feel very sick with the higher level of progesterone. and now, since trying to conceive, the rising level of progesterone when conception occurs, is immediately apparent....take last month for example. i knew without doubt that i was pregnant within 4 days of conception. i did test when i was late, but had an early miscarriage on about day 33 of cycle; if i didnt have the weird progesterone thing i would just think i was 'late'. again this month i have been feeling the same but 10dpo i am not experiencing the implantation cramps i have in the past - so i thinking that perhaps i have yet another duff egg.

what you say about infertility of our species is true - and so complex. its not just about egg meets sperm issues, the subsequent weeks are often when things go wrong.

KnackeredCow · 29/12/2010 16:06

Hi Carloss Even if a woman has sex at entirely the right time, and there are no other fertility problems, sometimes fertilisation just doesn't happen.

Fertilisation is a complicated process and sometimes the egg, or the sperm involved in the process are genetic duds, which means an embryo isn't produced. Sometimes the fertilised egg ceases to continue dividing. Sometimes the fetilised egg doesn't implant. So much can go wrong during the first few hours and days and that is why sex at the right time doesn't always = a pregnancy. It's estimated that 50 - 60% of conceptions fail to implant properly for various reasons. The woman will have period as normal and not even realise she was pregnant. There's no data on how many fertilised eggs simply stop dividing and die. Humans are a remarkably infertile species. Hope that helps answer your question. Smile

littlefan · 29/12/2010 15:17

Lychees - I was ill last week when we were supposed to be baby making too!! I had really bad flu - totally threw us out of action. Some tips - cover your feet with Vicks at bedtime and put some socks on. This helps you sweat it out apparently. Also burn some albas oil on an oil burner just before you sleep or when in the bath.Hope you feel better soon.

carloss, the two bars means that you are fertile but the three bars mean that you are about to ovulate within the next 24-36 hours. The two bars after the three bars means that there is still a chance the sperm might meet the egg. The CBFM will automatically give you a high [two bars] after two peaks [three bars].

Littlefan sorry AF got you. Life isn't always fair, hun but don't give up as you never know what's round the corner.

I had my final pill of my first course of Clomid last night and AF has finished so we should be getting on with baby-making. However, I've got a bad cold and I feel like poo.

Hopefully, I'll have perked up by my peaks. I wonder if using Clomid has made any difference to my lack of highs [I mostly get sneaky peaks]. DH told me that Clomid takes about three courses to get your cycles regular ... anyone know whether this is true?

Update stats...been out of the loop recently. Still plodding on though. Got AF on the second day of my holiday in Mexico - perfectly timed as usual! Fingers crossed for better news in 2011!!

Oh KC not too far from me at all, what an amazing record too. Though I doubt they would treat me, cos at present no one will till a consultant writes a letter and it depends on the consultant. Sounds v progressive and quick - it took 11months to do all the tests for me at a hospital less than an hour away from you! Hence we got PCT funding to move to another hospital, plus our hospital doesn't do IVF/ICSI which we need due to the male factors of infertility we discovered. Oh KC - have you begun work, forgot to ask.

And Arabella - what great toast you made - as she chinks her glass in return!! Grin

KnackeredCow · 28/12/2010 10:22

Keziah I'm with the Jessop Women's Hospital in Sheffield. The service seems pretty progressive. Although the HFEA website isn't kept updated, their success rate for IVF (live birth rate) with a Day 5 blastocyst transfer is a whopping 45%. I know this from a friend who is having ICSI with them.

Arabella We start when I get a high and then aim for every other day. However, don't take what I say too literally as I am still not pg yet. Confused But it's worth trying to keep at it all through the cycle.

arabella36 · 28/12/2010 09:45

Hello again CBFM users[waves]!
Can I ask when you start SWI during your cycle? Do you wait for high days? Are the peak days really best?

I have been using the monitor for 3 months now but this is the first month of TTC. Am CD4.

Here's hoping that 2011 will be a successful year for everyone here, and that those who are already pregnant will have a smooth 9 months[chink chink of glasses]. Am getting in the New Years mood earlyGrin

Keziahhopes · 27/12/2010 20:57

KC - so want to move to wherever you live!!! S sorry about AF, but not long to go before you can do next step of testing.

And sorry for AF getting you also Lychees

Zebedee agree with Lychees, it is up to you... only you know your body, other children etc and what you can cope with - have you been to gp about the length of time it is taking tcc#2? Sorry if you already posted that - but if not I would and at least get blood tests etc to see if anything obvious (not sure if they test etc if it is 2nd child etc, just that the nhs not fund ivf if you already have a child - but worth a try for tests etc?)

Lychees · 27/12/2010 18:04

Just updating the stats as AF got me before Xmas.

KnackeredCow, sorry AF got you but it's great that you have a FC appointment on 5th ... not long now.

Sorry AF got you, too Keziah and Zebedee.

Zebedee, I've often thought about when to give up but there is fight left in me and DH still. You need to go with what's right for you and your family.

Keziah, I avoided Channel Four on Xmas day ... couldn't face it. But did the right thing and went to see my Brother and his permanently pregnant g/friend.

Congrats Anytime!

IloveKittyElise, keeping my fingers crossed for you.

KnackeredCow · 27/12/2010 15:31

Hello All

AnytimeNow That's wonderful news. I am really pleased for you and wish you every success for this pregnancy.

Zebedee and Keziah really sorry AF got you both. I started spotting on Christmas Day, and reset the monitor today as AF has arrived with a vengeance Sad.

DH told me a couple we are close to are pregnant. I know that this firend was still on the pill in July and now she's 10 weeks. He told me Christmas Eve and I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. Don't know why it has affected me so much this time.

Lychees Good luck with your scan and treatment. At least things are moving forward now.

Well, the bit of good news is that on Thursday 23rd we received a letter from the fertility clinic to say that our referral and results had been reviewed by the Consultant. It then said to expedite all the appropriate investigations we were to telephone to make an appointment at the with the Nurse Consultant at the nurse-led fertility clinic.

I phoned up straight away and have an appointment on 5th January. Couldn't believe it. This is the NHS too. I am very impressed. The nurse orders up any further tests (presumably the HSG for me) and then once the results are back from that we see the Consultant who will advise what next.

Just updating as yesterday AF came - god I hate her - she's such a bitch! I'm so disappointed as I thought I was pregnant because I've been so constipated for the last 10 days. So I marked the occasion last night with an extra glass of wine and a good snort of Vicks Sinex. This morning I even had a Lemsip too! Yay!

Congrats to everyone who has had a BFP. I won't get one now til atleast after my 44th birthday which is next month. Do you think I should just give up??

Good luck Liz, and have a Happy Christmas(sickness permitting!)

Ilovekittyelise · 25/12/2010 07:10

Merry Christmas all!

Im 6 days post ovulation and as sick as a bloody dog. I know the signs from my previous unsuccessful pregnancies. Sorry this doesnt sound excited and hopeful. To me the link between being pregnant and having an actual baby has never materialised and im more wondering what will go wrong, and when.

Liz

lovely to hear from you Anytime - be great for you to stay here I think, to hear how you get on ... and share tips!! I have started accupuncture also, with a zita west trained person to see if it can help where nothing else has (to get a bfp!) - do let us know when you get to 10 weeks Smile xx
