Ladies from Vol4 - welcome to our new home.

KC - yes they said they couldn't choose between the 4 fertilised eggs at day 3 so took them all to blast stage. However only one good enough for transfer, but too early a blast to grade and other 3 not good enough to freeze so lost them sadly. NICE may recommend 3 but sadly as we know do not fund more than 1, which is the issue. Privately every singly test I have already had has to be redone - ouch! As if I am going to have got HIV inbetween!! Grrrr............

Karbea · 31/03/2011 20:48

Qq - do any of you temp as well as using the monitor? Not sure if I still need to? X x

Karbea · 31/03/2011 20:38

Hello, did my first wee on a stick this morning, was kind of exciting!!! Fertility was low, very excited to hopefully see it change! Although this is my shorter cycle so I guess all I'm going to find out is that I either don't ov every other month or my lutual phase is too short... Xx

KnackeredCow · 31/03/2011 19:18

Keziah I didn't realise you had a day 5 transfer. I am really sorry to hear that it wasn't successful. All I can say is that NICE recommends three cycles of IVF / ICSI because that is the average number of cycles that a woman will need to conceive so it really isn't all over yet. I understand your concerns with your eggs, but it could work next time and the number of eggs may be different next time. Please don't give up hope just yet.

The private wait list exists where I am because they simply have too many patients for the number of staff. There's really not much that can be done about that although it is ever so frustrating.

I echo what Fr00tbat and Boba have said x

Boba Glad to hear things are going well. Are you going to find out if you are having a boy or a girl?

Yes, the break TTC has done both DH and me the world of good. I'm back at work now, which has really helped. We see the Consultant at the FC next week too but I am still hoping for a natural BFP, maybe naively? Perhaps now I have a decent work life balance and a job I enjoy things will happen naturally. 17 months in I can but hope!

fr00tbat · 31/03/2011 17:25

I dont know what to say keziah- i really feel for you. I wish it could be different. Xx

Keziahhopes · 31/03/2011 13:31

Boba - it is a 7 week wait for a Dr, or 5-6 if you dont' mind a locum - this is private, so not impressed with the wait. But that is probably because I know all tests need doing again - so even if we had the money straight away there would be another 2 month delay.

boba82 · 31/03/2011 11:14

Hi KC I'm ok thanks, 17 weeks tomorrow but still can't believe it and am very nervous still. How are things with you? Do you feel the break from TTC did you and DH good?

Keziah I hope the clinic gets their finger out on Monday and you get an appointment sooner than later.

OP posts:
Keziahhopes · 30/03/2011 19:39

Hi KC - we had a day 5 blast transferred - an early stage blast. Others could have been frozen at day 3 but cos this was NHS the NHS will only here freeze blasts as they have to pay for frozen transfers - so at least I am not costing them more money, which is the point.

Have to wait till official test day before allowed to book a review date for this cycle - and with a 8 week wait for that at clinic I am not impressed that I can't book one today. Bright red blood, negative test 15 days after fertilisation and all clinic could say is test on Sunday (Mother's Day) and phone late afternoon on Monday.

And I can't see me having any more eggs next time as mine are obviously running out. That is why am unhappy about not being able to hurry things up - Oct#s attempt was cancelled, now look like not even be able to cycle in the summer holidays, so more time off work - unpaid - which means unlikely to be able to afford it .... well if my 100,000 mile car dies I have a choice of a car or an IVF cycle and 2 buses to work and back. That is many years on a bus for possible one embryo to be put back.

KnackeredCow · 30/03/2011 19:08

Keziah I don't know if this is helpful but a friend of mine is currently undergoing ICSI. On her first cycle they only retrieved about 3 eggs. They got 2 embryos from these. Like you, they couldn't grade them and she had both embryos transferred at day 2, but sadly they didn't stick.

She's just had her second ICSI cycle, and this time, she got 16 eggs or so and 8 embryos, which means they've been able to grade and go for a day 5 transfer, which I believe has a higher success rate.

Anyway, I guess I am telling you this because ICSI failing this time might simply be bad luck. Hopefully your next cycle will be better individualised to you, which could give you a much better chance. Perhaps think of this one as a trial run?

The wait list between cycles (even if you are private) is very long where I am too. It's about 4 months as the service is so oversubscribed.

Hello to everybody else. KC waves.

Boba How's the pregnancy going?

Karbea · 30/03/2011 16:55

slightly thank you, hopefully tmr will say day 6, whichll actually be day 7 and I can just be a day out all month...

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 30/03/2011 14:58

karbea if you have set the testing window to late in the day - do not despair, you just need to put your fmu in a pot and dip the stick at the relevant time. I don't think the monitor being a day out will cause too many problems, it'll just throw the next month out by a day. Don't panic!!

When you get up just turn it on - if this is before the window it will still show as the previous day (it doesn't have an actual clock installed) - it will tell you whether to POAS by flashing a stick on the screen.

Arghhh I've woken thisorning and checked the monitor and it hasn't moved to day 6, I've realised that I was playing with it on monday when I got it around lunchtime... Anyway I've reset it, but it obviously is now a day late. What do I do? Do I wee on ac stick this morning and put it in tmr? Or do I just use it as normal, but realise I'm a day out. Or have I screwed it up for this month? I was so excited that I was going to use it this morning, can't believe I've done it wrong, I can't bloody do anything :( xx

Keziahhopes · 29/03/2011 23:35

Though on a positive work are offering more hours - so have to decide whether to take them. Physically it is not good for me, but will mean we can cycle sooner. Though it is so horrifying paying out so much (well it is for us) knowing only one live thing produced and not knowing why it doesn't stick. Am glad am not wealthy as money will put an end to our dream.

Karbea · 29/03/2011 23:34

keziah I obviously don't know you yet, but I'm 37 and I'm not giving up all hope yet... But I do often feel I've missed my chance, so know exactly where you are coming from ((hug)) xx

Keziahhopes · 29/03/2011 23:32

SBC not so much my age, but the fact that I only had one embryo to put back and it was too early a blast to grade, but the other 3 were too poor a grade to use so they used that one. Which means I don't make good quality eggs or many of them. I am sure it will be fine for you, it is more my lack of eggs the problem and high blood levels and lack of follicles in this cycle proved that.

Oh well, glad not booked any trips away this year as even have to re=do all the blood tests, like HIV, 2 Hep's etc as they will have run out as a 2mth wait to see the dr before we even think about the cost of the cycle (6,000 ish plus drugs). Oh to live in an NHS area that does more than one cycle.

KnackeredCow · 29/03/2011 23:10

Keziah I am so sorry too hear that you've starter bleeding. I really don't know what to say. Thinking of you at this time. xxx

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 29/03/2011 18:49

Keziah am feeling for you, but 36 is not an age to worry too much about (I'll be 36 in a few months!)

Try to keep positive, I don't really know what else to say. BrewBiscuit

Keziahhopes · 29/03/2011 16:09

Hi - bleeding started here, think it is all over. No idea when day 1 is though after ivf. At 36 am beginning to realise this might have been my only chance.

Loup23 · 29/03/2011 10:50

Welcome karbea and good luck miniH hope that peak comes soon!

Thanks for your response KC you're a fountain of knowledge on the CBFM! Good luck for this month.

I'm CD15 today and still low but i think you're right keziah, I set day 1 as the day I m/c which probably isn't accurate but hey I wanted to get started again! Think I might need to get a lot of amazon sticks now in preparation for a lot of POAS!

Good luck to all x

MiniH · 29/03/2011 07:55

Karbea - yes, you need to turn it on every morning during your testing window and then see if it asks for a stick. Don't poas until it asks you to.

MiniH · 29/03/2011 07:54

I think (fingers crossed) I'm going to get a peak soon -yay! After a ridiculously long 49 day cycle last month I think this one is going back to normal as the oestrogen line is fading out and had a faint lh line. I just hope that this means my cycles are finally getting into a pattern - was very regular pre-pill but been 11 months off it now and been all over the place.

Can't believe how excited I am at the prospect of a peak - after months of getting nothing on opk's and all lows last month on cbfm (but finally my first ever smiley face on opk) I am so pleased at the prospect of ovulating (fingers crossed)!

Karbea · 29/03/2011 07:43

Morning! The instructions actually say wee on a stick on the 6th day. Do I have to turn it on every morning and see what it says then? I even forgot to take my temps this morning :(

I'll add my stats when I get into the office x x

Keziahhopes · 28/03/2011 23:03

KC - so glad that you are back, people had to put up with my much more basic answers, hurrah!!!!!!!!!!

Karbea - yes you can use your maching this cycle but don't waste a stick on day 5, it might not ask for one!! You need to press the button to tell it what day it is, you can do this days 1-5, not after - you wait another cycle then - and it will beep when it wants a stick. Usually not as early as day 5. First month it will use more sticks than any other months, so don't worry.

Tips - um, buy sticks a box at a time from Amazon (about £14, free delivery) as chemists are £20-25, after first month you tend to get 2 cycles out of a box. My cycles can be 26 days, but not until I used the CBFM did I realise how much I varied.

Karbea - would you like your stats adding to the thread? People here are lovely - and you can see the great list of recent graduates (who have their own thread on ante-natal now but pop on sometimes to encourage us!) - all the best xx

Karbea · 28/03/2011 22:23

Hello,

My CBFM arrived today, Im CD4 today so i think i can pee on my first stick tomorrow AM and start using it straight away!

I'm 37, as is my OH. We are trying for our first baby and this is cycle 6. My cycles range from 22 to 26 days, but I tend to have a shorten then longer cycle, this cycle should be a shorter one.

Anyone any tips for the machine?

xx
