Storm, I'm so sorry that this has happened after all you've already been through but I am keeping my fingers-crossed that the CVS results are good.

CrazyAlien, I thought it was illegal to give a bad reference. Good luck with the job though.

Boba it's good that the Clomid is working though, hun. Hopefully the BFP will follow soon.

I had my second scan today, the follicle measured 15.8mm so still not big enough for IUI but there is a second follicle growing at 12mm. Anyway, the upshot is, I have another scan booked on Monday with instructions to phone the clinic if I get my peak before then.

boba82 · 06/01/2011 14:05

Hi storm glad it's all over with for the moment for you. Rest up & try not worry too much over the weekend. Really hoping for the best for you. FX hun. x x x x

Thanks for the well wishes again

Hello....me again,

Just got home from the Hospital. I shall not sugar coat it, it is definately something that has been put on the list of things I'd rather not have to go through again, it was slightly painful but more uncomfortable than anything. The instruments they use look like something from the dark ages.

The plus point was that it was over in 10 minutes and the consultant was v. happy with how the procedure went and said that he got a good sample of the placenta. The midwife showed me the sample a little later on and I was quite surprised that it was like a little transparent frond - not what I expected.

Anyway, they kept us hanging around for a little while after to make sure I was OK and I also had to have an anti-D injection as I am Rhesus Negative.

I'm home now and feel relatively OK. Sligtly achy tummy from all prodding and poking from both today and yesterday. I'm trying to just rest now as I am very aware of how crucial the next 72hrs is meant to be.

The results should be available by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. I'm trying not to think about it - just so glad today is over!

Hope you are all ok. Good luck with the job Crazy and thanks for the reassurance kitty

Aaaah crazy makes sense now! At least the bloods'll give you an indication of what's going on. Best of luck with job. x

ERTD- evil red tide of doom lol
AMH - a hormone blood test thingy which claims to be able to measure the size of the pool of growing follicles as that is where the AMH hormone is released

Knackered I have a german shepherd-collie cross :D
She is the best, we got her from the Dogs Trust.

Sitting at home is pants especially with no job! I know exactly how you feel, it has only been a few days but already feel myself getting depressed and I always seem to think to much into things and have to find something to worry about! Tis not healthy!

right best go as need to be in that car in 5 mins!

will update as soon as I am back , presuming that if I am able to take the job that they dont hold onto me to meet the kiddies etc as hadnt planned for that lol

x

KnackeredCow · 06/01/2011 10:21

CrazyAlien I really empathise with you. I'm at home alone with the dog at the moment and it's driving me up the wall. Looking for work but have now been turned down 3 times at final stage for somebody more experienced. Losing the will to live and confidence as I just can't seem to nail final interview.

Do you know what your reference said? It's interesting that they sent a bad reference. Most employers these days won't give personal references because they are too worried about getting sued for loss of earnings if you challenge it and the reference is found to be unjustified.

What sort of dog have you got? I've got a labrador.

boba82 · 06/01/2011 10:20

crazyalien sorry you're feeling low, it's hard isn't it? Hopefully your interview will go ok, that was a bit mean of your old boss.

What does ERTD and AMH stand for? Blush

God there's a LOT to catch up on!

Thanks for all your support, really helps.

Lychees Good luck with the IUI if it comes to it hun. Clomid has worked so far in that I have ovulated but no BFP yet Sad

Keziah hugs to you hun, hear hear on the Karma U-turn for you. x

Arabella not sure but I think it can go straight from lows to peaks. Let us know how it goes.

KC I know that feeling! I was told 12 week wait for HSG & managed to get cancellation within 3 weeks so FX it'll be the same for you. Try & not worry too much re results, hopefully you'll be fine & clear!

Pink That's disappointing news but they really need to compare a couple of results. Our GP told DH his 2 SA showed low counts and poor morphology but when we went to FC the consultant said they were fine as GP refrencing old data from WHO. So tell your DH not to lose heart just yet. Men are VERY sensitive abouth the SA though aren't they?!

Storm I'm so sorry you've had this worrying news. Odds are in your favour but I know you must be so worried. Good luck with your further tests & really hope everything works out well for you. x x x

Fr00tbat sorry AF got you, think she'll get me by the end of the day, the BITCH! x

Hope everyone else doing ok?

IT seems there is no peak for me this month :( last months was CD15, does it change alot each month? I know that us women don't ovulate each month...

Once ERTD gets here I will be on my 7th cycle and to be honest getting worried now. I have AMH blood test results on their way, telephone appointment tomorrow lunchtime ...dreading the results.

Sorry for the me, me, me post but getting sad now. Also had a job but ex head sent a bad reference so have a meeting in an hour at my 'new' school to discuss it and see what the outcome is. Really need this job as going insane at home alone (well with dog lol) and also need to move house !

storm i just saw your post. try not to worry too much (i know i know, pointless thing to say) thats not a huge measurement by any means; i remember googling around loads of forums when i was in a similar situation, its only when the nuchal fold is massive (like over 4mm) that the prognosis doesnt look good; all sorts of things can affect the hormone levels as well (i remember reading one thread where the lady wasa given a 1 in 80 chance of downs then admitted she still has a cigarette every day or two and that halved the risk to 1 in 160 just because of the known effects of smoking on PAPP-A something I'd never heard of); im really convinced that what you are seeing is just a product of statistics not always taking into account the full set of variables - SO many things affect those hormone levels. and having gone through the worst case scenario i would be very hesitant to say this if i didnt truly believe it. I am thinking of you and doing the non believers equivalent of prayer!

worththewait · 06/01/2011 00:39

hi everyone good luk im off here now ive had enouh thanks to my sis she posted a thread about men thats why i changedmy name

Sorry - meant to reference Pink not Essence about SA!!

Snuggle up nice Frootbat

fr00tbat · 05/01/2011 23:53

Well, she got me, i feel dreadful, going to bed with hot water bottle and nurofen, feel v sorry for self.
This is going to be our year though folks, am sure, jyst got to keep going ( oh, the romance of baby making!)-i gave to tell self something, or will cry to sleep.

Kitty-you are doing fine, please stay, i like having u around-you can have comfy chair in corner to watch us all! Dont stop believing-oh yes, am all cheeze tonight.

Trying to smile, x

Keziahhopes · 05/01/2011 23:49

Storm - hope the CVS can give you reasurance.

Ilovekitty - good to hear things seem to be ok at present now, lets hope that continues for you.

KC - we had to wait 2 cycles to have my HSG, but as we had to wait so long to see the consultant it made little difference. But at least we had a full-time, qualified radiologist - about the only thing the hospital seemed to have Grin!!! Ask to go to a different hospital - not far to my hospital for you??? Just for this test?

Essence - we too had some disappointing SA results for dh - he had 4 tests in all. However, the numbers rose significantly when he began taking the Menevit supplement the Fertility Clinic recommended and have stayed higher (just the antibody issue now). As sperm is totally replaced every 3 months, will they test again to see if it is improved? Also illness etc can cause changes, not meaning it is permanent etc.

Thanks - have just had physiotherapy tonight, covered by car insurance as well! 4 more weekly sessions booked, although the pain will get worse before it is better. Oh to be able to turn over in bed! The simple things one misses Wink - so hoping, in vain really, that in next few days when get near a peak my back better!!

StormBird · 05/01/2011 18:15

Thanks for the well wishes Ladies and sorry for all the selfish posting.

The Nuchal Fold measured between 2.3mm and 2.8mm. They couldn't get a very good visual to do a more accurate measurement. My PAPP-A hormone (as far as I understand this is to do with the babies growth) was low at 0.24, apparently anything under 0.3 is considered low and I will therefore require many more scans than normal to monitor the babies growth should all be clear with the CVS results. As far as I am aware everything else was OK.

KnackeredCow · 05/01/2011 18:09

Storm I am so sorry to hear your news. However, I do agree with essence. Although it may be hard not to think the worst, you do have a 42 in 43 chance of having an unaffected baby. The odds are definitely stacked in your favour. I am thinking of you at this uncertain time.

Thanks pink and woththewait for support. Much appreciated. Pink Sorry to hear that you've been unwell but glad to hear you have positive outlook.

Essence Yep I asked whether they had a phone round reserve list for the HSGs. They did tell me it is common to get cancellations the day before or on the day of an HSG; with just the Monday and Friday slots it's difficult for a woman to get a slot that is definitely between the day she stops bleeding and day 10. Most book the closest and may still be bleeding, hence the high cancellation rate. Unfortunately, they don't have a phone round system that could promote efficiency of an already massively over subscribed service. Typical of the NHS, I wonder? It could be fixed so easily. Hmm

Keziah Sorry to hear that you are still in such a lot of pain following your car accident. Have you been referred for physio?

Hello to anyone else that I haven't mentioned by name.

Ilovekittyelise · 05/01/2011 17:08

stormbird im really sorry to hear your news on the results. What was your nuchal fold measurement? The reason I ask is that this seems to be the key thing - many ladies seem to have had an elevated risk due to hormone levels (which seem to fluctuate quite dramatically between women) which push the calculated risk up, so you can take some comfort in that I hope (sadly mine was over 5mm and my odds 1 in 5 so it was obvious SOMETHING was wrong)

having been through the whole CVS etc please feel free to PM me with any questions; i hope you havea positive outcome I will be thinking of you its a really hard time right now even if (which chances ARE) things turn ou perfect for you xxx

AnytimeNOW · 05/01/2011 16:51

Stormbird Just read your post, and am so sorry you are going through this.

I asked my consultant about tests regarding downs, and he said they are just figures and statistics, and the chances are really low.

Hope I haven't offended you by writting that, and really feel for you both.

Keeping everything crossed for you, and hope all goes ok with the cvs X

essenceofSES · 05/01/2011 16:50

Storm - sorry you weren't given better news. As others have said though, the CVS could still tell a different story. 1 in 43 may be high but it also means 42 in 43 chance everything is fine.
Sending you a big hug and thinking of you xx

KnackeredCow - that sounds so frustrating! Do they not think to have a waiting list to phone round if there is a cancellation?! I guess they didn't try to pull the wool over your eyes at least in terms of timescales and it is very useful that you live so close by!

PinkCustard - sorry you've been ill. Hope your DH's next SA is more favourable and you get your BFP soon!

IloveKitty - I'm pleased for the nausea and tiredness IYKWIM!

arabella - it is normal to have 1 or 2 cycles a year when you don't ovulate but it's also possible to occasionally ovulate late. Have you had a cold or been ill at all as that can sometimes cause late ov?

worththewait · 05/01/2011 16:30

see told you stats can be mislaeading
although it hard not to worry
hun we are all supporting you through this time ok :)
and big bear hugs x
