Ladies from Vol4 - welcome to our new home.

OP posts:
chocciechip · 20/01/2011 12:02

keziah, I am so sorry. It's going to take you some time to absorb the shock. Have you found any support groups online that can help you work through alternative options? I know travelling overseas sounds scary (because we considered it) but I've read in some forums that it can be much cheaper. I know of one person who went to Turkey and egg-shared so got the price of her treatment right down, and now has twins.

We've been ttc for just over two years and although we had two BFPs in the first year, both ended in MCs. We had a second year of no BFPs.

My overwhelming response to this BFP was relief - that I didn't have to go through IVF because I am scared of IVF. But given my only past experience of PG has been bad, I have a black cloud following me with a feeling that I know what's going to happen next and its going to be hearbreaking. I just can't shake the feeling at all.

Probably not what people want to hear, but I wish I could experience PG the way 'normal' people do. I'm not stressing and fretting about it, it's just a feeling of dull acceptance that this isn't going to happen for us, and why should it after all we've been told and what we've gone through.

DH is struggling though: super-stressed. Yesterday he left for work highly emotional, pure stress over what we might have to be dealing with next.

Anyway, we cross our fingers and toes and wait for the next seven weeks to roll by before we start to dare to hope.

The only other thing to say to everyone is I had totally given up hope. DH had been given a miserable sperm diagnosis so we figured our only chance was IVF. (We haven't even told the IVF people yet until the PG is confirmed by my GP). In Dec we only SWI'd twice in total, on both the CBFM peak days. Usually we have marathon sessions on the highs as well, and always try to do it on the day after peaks too. DH now thinks we were doing it 'all wrong' for the year.... Hmm

I had stopped charting my temperature during that month as well and took a break from MN (!), and was drinking because there were lots of guests around and I was in a 'screw it' frame of mind. And because I'd totally given up, I wasn't even thinking about BFPs or us having any chance at all.

It all suggests 'relaxing' and stopping obsession might be good for conception, but my 2nd PG was conceived in my worst state of stress ever in my life so I don't fully buy that.

I do think diet and vitamins are good though, because we measured an improvement in DH's sperm counts through his samples. And .... TMI warning alert ...!!! The one thing in common after all my BFPs was an orgasm Blush AFTER we SWI'd!! DH thinks that's the magic solution .... not much of that happened when we were stressing and tired in marathon SWI moments through the year. I think he might be right and maybe it helps get the swimmers 'up there' (I saw it in a documentary once).

I have spent so much time in the past two years trying to figure out what the magic formula for success is and its so frustrating to still think at the end that it might just be a bit of a lottery.

Keziah, I'm sorry about your news and quite angry on your behalf. But I'm still wishing for a natural BFP for you ... these things do happen.

KnackeredCow · 20/01/2011 11:26

Keziah I am so very very sorry. I guess at the moment you are in shock and just trying to process it. I really don't know what to say. You must be devastated.

If the person hasn't actually said "no" is there any chance that the clinic can still go ahesd?

What about going abroad for treatment? Would that be feasible? Any country outside of the UK won't be subjected to HFEA regulations so you might not even have to travel far? I've heard that Scandinavia and the low countries are pretty reputable and successful at fertility treatment.

I am probably just clutching at straws, but maybe it's something that you could consider given time.

boba82 · 20/01/2011 10:52

Lychees what a self absorbed cow she sounds. If I were you next time she complains remind her how long you've been trying to shut her up!

Choccie Congratulations, FX all goes well for you and for me so we can share together. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow I think.

Pink hugs for you hun. I was on cycle 19 when it finally happened so don't give up yet!

wantbaby I used CBFM whilst on Clomid and it seemed to work perfectly for me. I think it's fine to use it as a guide but bear in mind the Clomid may or may not affect the results.

kitty glad all is going well for you.

storm had a wee peak at your photo, lovely!

Keziah I'm sorry to hear that hun. How are you feeling about it? Is this the end of the road or are there any appeals etc to be made? Try and stay positive, like choccie said it can happen for you too. I know it must be hard though. x

kezia im really sorry to hear about about your news, that sucks and seems really unfair and awful. everyone here hopes you are the next miracle xxx

Keziahhopes · 19/01/2011 23:30

Choccie I am so pleased for you!!! Do let us know how it goes on. We ordered everything off the list you posted - dutifully swollowing everything, costing a fortune but we hope worth it, not so far though,so encouraged by your news!!

However, for us there will be no IVF, even though that is what we need (well ICSI) as today had worst ever news - THE LETTER by THE PERSON to say without saying it "NO" and all negative, lots of things that are horrible and not one positive reason.

Choccie really appreciate your comment to me. And it is great you and Boba together got BFP's as you both here so long. I forget now how long you ttc?

StormBird · 19/01/2011 20:34

Congratulations Choccie I'm so pleased for you and its excellent to see yet another BFP on this thread - thats 8 BFP's since October....not bad going eh! I hope you have a smooth run of things hun, sending you masses of luck Smile

Kitty I get the Dildo-Cam treatment it seems evertime I go for a Scan. Confused But they do show up much clearer images once your a bit further along. You can view my latest pic as I have added it to my photos - that was courtesy of Dildo-Cam due to baby sleeping on its side and continuously rolling over evertime the sonographer poked at it - just like its dad Grin
Good luck with the Nuchal hun, that 5 weeks will hopefully fly by without a hitch.

Good Luck with the Clomid Wantbaby . I hope it all works out well for you.

Fingers crossed for Pink and anyone else nearing the end of the 2WW.

Welcome to Tina I hope you find this thread as fantastic as I have over the months and Good Luck with your TTC journey.

Hello everyone else

Ladies Long may this amazing run of BFP's continue. I really hope you all get your happy endings soon.

Ilovekittyelise · 19/01/2011 20:09

Hi ladies

Congrats choccie I really hope it sticks i will be thinking of you.

Had my scan today, was exactly 6+3 as I thought (hoorah for precision tools ie the CBFM). There was a blob-beat and it measured right, not much else to tell at this stage other than they ended up using the dildo-cam....NICE

only 5 weeks to go to the dreaded nuchal scan. lets hope i get there.

Thinking of you all.

ses i just saw your stats did i read that correctly you are ttc #6? you crazy lady! Wink

Congrats Choccie it really does bring hope to those of us who have been trying for a while with no success.

Well, AF due on Saturday so I'm a nervous wreck every time I go to the loo as pre-AF spotting is due any second. I'm finding it very stressful this month and am starting to think about giving up and moving on as I don't know how much longer I can do this for Sad

Lychees · 19/01/2011 15:57

Thank you for being brave enough to post and tell us as I'm sure we'll all find it encouraging.
Having suffered 2 mmc before DS though, I know how worrying and uncertain these early weeks are. Take it a day at a time and I hope you have a very smooth pregnancy xx

KnackeredCow · 19/01/2011 13:01

Congratulations Choccie That is brilliant news Grin

Choccie Do you mind me asking how long you were trying for? I am on cycle number 16 now, and have never had a BFP. I am booked in for an HSG at the end of the month, so DH and I went all out this month. Sorry if TMI Blush but we managed to SWI on all of my "high" days except the first one and the one after my peak days. We also managed both my "peak days". I normally don't bother symptom spotting as I don't expect to get a BFP. I am 6dpo but have noticed a heavy feeling around my uterus and have had a bit of cramping and a tiny bit of spotting (incy wincy bit). I have never ever had this before. I am desperately trying to not to get my hopes up as I am sure I'll be disappointed later this month Sad, but your BFP has made me think it is possible to still get pg after months of no success.

Big hello to everybody else. I'll catch up on the rest of the thread later today.

Hi ladies,

I asked you to take my stats off the list a little while ago because I was finding it demoralising seeing the months of trying go up constantly.

Nervous announcement - we were scheduled to start IVF next month but I got a BFP on 11 Jan so it seems that might be postponed for now. So we conceived in the last possible month we could before IVF. Weird how that happens.

After my two MCs, I'm a bit ary about what's ahead of me and already think my early PG symptoms are fading so am trying to prepare myself for the possibility it might be ending again. ... so please don't add me to the grads list yet ....

HOWEVER, I wanted to post this news especially for keziah - so you know, keziah that although my dh has worse anti-sperm antibody probs than your dh (and I'm older than you etc) we managed a BFP, so you can too. We focussed on boosting his sperm count all we could to make up for the shortfall....

And for boba - I keep thinking that if by some miracle this sticks, you and I will be on a journey together after a long slog of getting to this point. Big congrats on your bfp ... by my calculations (if it sticks) you are half a week ahead of me .....

..I've still got hurdles though.

Waves to everyone else.

Keziahhopes · 18/01/2011 21:39

Lychees - grrr to your colleague lying after 2 months, that is horrible as it takes ages to wait for some tests and if people do that then people who need it get stuck for longer.
How horrible for ou with her selfishness.

Lychees · 18/01/2011 20:08

Tina, if you would like to be added in the stats, this is what the abbreviations mean:

TTC#.... = which number child you are trying for

Cycle #.... = the total number of cycles you have been ttc

UCL = Usual cycle length

I think you've provided all the other bits [except your age if you want to share] so .....

Have fun SWI, Clockspotter and SES.

TBH Pink, like Keziah, I can't watch baby programmes. They still make me sad like RL pregnancy announcements.

I'm feeling a bit miserable today as work is a bit poo but I'm holding on for the maternity package ... hoping it'll not be for much longer.

Also, my colleague has been going on about how she thinks there is something wrong with her as she is still not pregnant after two months ttc and that she might go to the GP and say she's been trying for 12 months to get checked out. I have been confiding in her about our battle [obv way before she was even considering ttc]. I just never realised she could be SO insensitive. It's made me feel really alone ... lucky I have you ladies.

Clockspotter · 18/01/2011 13:32

Hi everyone,

Feeling in the swing of things now as on CD12 and becoming quite an expert at hitting the stick!!

Had 2 highs and anticipating a peak round the end of the week (altho' I've seen this doesnt always happen in the first month) but blooming DP under all sorts of work pressure at the minute and the will he/wont he pull it out of the bag (lol) and perform on the night or nights is killing me! Honestly, I hate relying on other people at the best of times!!

Feeling spurred on at all the BFP's that are going on on here and I hope its catching, good luck to all on the 2ww!

TinaO99 · 18/01/2011 10:34

hi Lychees and anytime, thanks for your welcome

can I be added to the stats do you think if possible?

am now on day 9 of my second month of using the monitor, have tested high for the last 2 days so looks as though i may ovulate earlier than I thought! If you need any more info let me know - still not sure what all he abbreviations mean!

good luck to all and hoping I'm a graduate too soon :-)

PinkCustard · 18/01/2011 08:18

Kitty I was thinking the other day how nice it would be to go back to sex for the fun of it without quietly thinking whether it's the right time etc. You probably just OD-ed on it and will get your mojo back soon Wink

Good luck with SWI SES hope you manage to fit it in round tricky work patterns.

So did anyone else watch One Born Every Minute last night? I thought it was a lovely episode, and as DH wandered off when it was on I was able to shed a little tear at the lovely lady in the birthing pool without being mocked. They all seemed like nice couples last night though (unlike on previous episodes!) and ofcourse it made me long for my turn (even though the noise of the gas&air did bring back a flash of horror Grin)

Ilovekittyelise · 18/01/2011 08:08

this is awful (yet will probably make many of you jealous!) but we havent done it once since positive pregnancy test. LOL to think it used to be FUN!!!

Keziahhopes · 17/01/2011 23:19

glad scan went well Boba and hope yours goes well IloveKitty

all the best for SWI Ses....

essenceofSES · 17/01/2011 21:21

Boba - great news! So pleased for you :)

Kitty - hope all goes well for your scan. Symptoms sound good!

Hello Storm, Lychees, PinkCustard, Keziah and anyone else around.

We're all set for a week of SWI :) As usual we both have work shifts with very bad timing but CD10 today and should manage CD11 and CD15 as a minimum. I usually ovulate around CD16 but could be anything from CD14 to CD19 so fingers crossed!

Ilovekittyelise · 17/01/2011 19:27

Hey guys

Hope everyone is well; theres an air of anticipation on here with so many of the 2ww and a few recent BFPs. I hope we get some more.

Well, nothing really to report here; got a scan on wednesday which should be about 6+4. on one hand i feel like everything is ok but on the other im terrified of an empty sac. if the size of my udders and my appetite are any kind of indicator i would feel very confident indeed.

boba awesome news. could they see heartbeat or was it too soon?
