Old thread here

Make yourselves at home everyone. Jake & George are just loading everyone's 'baggage'! Wink

Fingers crossed for you for March then! Must be a really nerve wracking time, especially since so much is resting on it.

I'd feel a bit gutted if the consultant said about going back on meds. I know he can only suggest it, the nurses are really supportive of decisions & therapies but the consultant is very much a 'drugs are the answer' sort of bloke! Mostly I'm just worried that they'll want to stick me back in the MRI! I don't like it!!

Re the DH thing, I think it's human nature to be a bit selfish. At the end of the day it's very difficult to imagine how someone else is feeling or what they are thinking unless you have been in the exact situation yourself! You can empathise but you never really understand, does that make sense?

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 20/01/2011 20:15

I agree with you on the point that when you disagree like this is feels like both you're being selfish and the other person is! I don't know what the way round it is apart from trying to accept that you have different feelings.

How would you feel if the consultant told you to go back on the meds? (Surely he can only suggest it, he can't tell you?!)

We find out about application at the end of March. I was thinking today actually that maybe TTC has to wait until then for me - it'll potentially have such a massive bearing on the next few years whether we get this money or not. If we don't then the future is ridiculously uncertain. If we do, then I've got a nice flexible guaranteed - and part-time - role, which I could imagine doing and coping with kids at the same time. Aggh.

bebejones · 20/01/2011 19:50

Quod - I think I'm inclined to agree about him coming with me. It might make him 'wake up' to my situation. I often wonder if I am being selfish about the whole TTC thing but essentially I'm trying to think longer term & what is best for our family. His decision not to TTC & to have no more children is a selfish one based on his feelings alone, whatever they may be?! I really don't think he has taken on board my reasoning at all! Of course he could come with me & the consultant could turn round & tell me to go back on meds, in which case DH will get his own way & be all 'I-told-you-so'! Hmm

That sounds a nightmare for you job wise. Very similar to my DHs 'job' where he has to do so much & cover so many different areas of the company, he doesn't know if he is coming or going. Think his workload is a huge factor in not TTC! When will you find out if your application is succesful?

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 20/01/2011 18:11

Glad you got your BT sorted Bebe, they are awful aren't they!?

Your dilemma is a bit of a complicated one isn't it? My thoughts were that if he comes with you to the consultant, then maybe that will make it more your shared problem to solve, rather than yours individually. At least now the whole issue is out in the open even if it's painful to discuss and you're not in agreement yet. He's always known you were coming off your meds, hasn't he? It's his joint responsibility that you're now having to decide what to do, with the not-very-nice option of backtracking, in part because he didn't discuss his feelings with you fully enough and early enough!

If he comes with you to the consultant you'll have to decide on a joint 'line' on the issue in advance, which might be a good chance to come to some sort of agreement about where you currently stand? ('we're talking about the possibility of TTC again, though we're not decided at the moment', maybe?) You never know, having to think it all through with your POV in mind might help change his perspective?

No movement on the whole 'waiting' issue in this household - just found out that another of our friends is pg, bringing it up to 4 currently from last year's wedding bonanza. It's impossible not to be broody in those circumstances!! DP is taking an interest in their pregnancies though - he saw one of the pg friends the other day and came home and reported back on her morning sickness, mat leave etc with no prompting from me, which I think gets some points!

I am shattered today - working all the hours juggling 3 different 'jobs' at the mo, one of which is writing an enormous application which will secure the financial security of our company, or not. It feels like a huge responsibility as if we don't get it the results are pretty dire, without wanting to go into too much detail. Wish I was still on holiday - January is crap!

bebejones · 20/01/2011 13:48

Got home from shopping to find a BT man knocking on my door!!! Not even he was 100% sure what had happened with our line, looks like there were 2 lines that were made into one & the bits we were plugged into were coming off the 2nd line which came loose & therefore were't actually our phone line! Confused Long story short, it's working now! If they try & charge us there will be HELL to pay. Just pleased to have my broadband back!

Nannyl - sor sorry you are feeling so rubbish. I'm all out of tips I'm afraid. Just try to eat whatever you fancy whenever you can. My GP told me (when I had been sick all day every day for about 4 weeks) that he didn't care if all I could face was McDonalds coz I needed the calories! Really hope that it passes for you soon, try & take heart that it is 'considered' to be a good sign of lots of good baby hormones. (Which isn't much consolidation when you feel like crap! Wink)

I would appreciate a waiting thread, but also don't want to 'leave' this one IYSWIM? So 2 is probably a good idea. :)

WW - So sorry AF got you again. This month just wasn't meant to be your month, and when you are pregnant & you have your little one it will be because that was the bean that was meant to be!

No news here (apart from having a working phoneline again) trying not to give up hope re:DH! Not sure what to do about him coming to the consultants with me next month. He says it's up to me! On the one hand I'd really like him to be there for support & to talk to while I'm waiting!! On the other hand, I don't want him there while I explain to the doctor that I stopped my meds to have a baby that is now not happening! I don't want to go back on my meds just for DH to change his mind & then have to wait another 3 months to be clear to TTC! Aaaaaargggghhh, doing my head in!

OP posts:
strawberrypie · 20/01/2011 09:16

Oh dear nannyl, at least you are having times when you feel ok and can eat- maybe today will be better :)
How are you finding being at work? Can you manage to get through the day or do you have to keep rushing to the loo? Do you only feel sick when food is around or do other things set you off?

nannyl · 19/01/2011 20:18

think i was over optimistic at saying i felt better....
just experianced the looking at food making me vomit Sad managed a yogurt and a little plain spaghetti later...

nannyl · 19/01/2011 16:24

Hello all

WW so sorry to hear about AF... must be very frustrating. sounds like DH is wonderful

Astro thats a lovely comment Smile

I have been feeling quite a bit better today. Still was sick this morning, but after that i managed a small pear for breakfast, AND i enjoyed the small bowl of soup i had at lunch unlike uesturday when it was such an effort to eat.

The children at school have been making pineapple upside down cake so i have also eaten a bit if pineapple, and a few warm cake crumbs.
Im still not right but its nice to not feel like im gonna throw up all day... who knows, i might even manage to eat some tea tonight which will make a change if i can.

Otherwise all my bras are no uncomfortable Sad. i switched to my non-underwired sports bra today but even that seems to be digging in... think bra shopping is in order but didnt realise it would be necessary so soon

AstroZola · 19/01/2011 14:29

Hey,

Sorry I've been MIA for a while. Had my sister down this weekend and we went out and had a few massive arguments with OH. We've sorted things now though. But it was touch and go for a few days!

WW - sorry for the AF situation. I can't imagine how you must be feeling. I think some self indulgence is called for! Smile

I think I'll stick with the 'waiting to TTC' thread so that i can whinge about not being able to try for a baby yet and also because i can barely keep up with this one! Blush.

However, I'm so pleased to have been part of this forum towards the end and discovered the pregnancies we've had on here! It's amazing stuff. Thank you to all of you who have supported me and given me advice. xxx

Oh Whywait please don't feel like that! I wish I could say something to make you feel better

I think we have a much higher than average hit rate of 1st time PG achievers on this thread so don't let this affect you. Totally fertile couples often take up to a year of trying and you are nowhere near this yet. (I know you know all this and it doesn't really help when you are so disappointed but try to keep it in mind)

It sounds like you have a wonderful DH too x

Love the idea of the two threads- good ideas for names 100years. What about something along the lines of...

we started off waiting and are now WAIIT ing?
(We Are In It Together)

You sound much brighter 100years, I hope you are feeling a bit better. I laughed at your knowing statement about the waiting continuing after you are PG! Roll on 2nd trimester and glowing rather than puking!

That is horrendous Bebe- can you complain? Talk to someone higher up and explain that your OH works from home so next week is not acceptable? it probably would not make any difference though, how annoying! I have read about people on MN using the herbal Nytol and finding it effective- not sure what's in it and if it would be suitable but something like that might help stop the pattern of broken sleep for you?

Whywait- thanks for the advice re temping- I think I got a thermal shift yesterday so am hoping that there was an egg around when there where some....ahem...little guys around. Wait and see time. When will you test this month WW? Did you say it was this weekend?

100years · 19/01/2011 10:13

Oh Flipping heck Bebe that's just crap isn't it. I think sometimes companies do take the piss out of people. RE the sweets, I will have a look for them, but I've got some sweet rosy apple boiled sweet things that seem to be quite nice too, which I can get form the local newspaper shop.

Squirrel, not eaten cheese since 1994, I don't miss it, and didn't bother me when I stopped as it made me so poorly.

flutter6y, welcome to the thread, it's a lovely little support group for people. We are thinking of branching out into 2 different threads so you aren't surrounded by people who are actively trying or who are upduffed.

What shall we call the new IIT thread for the ones who are all mixed in? I'm quite happy to start one.

Like the BESH and PESH threads I think we should have ourselves known as the IITs or what about calling ourselves the WIITs as in Were In It Together. Then just doing the new thread as "The new thread for WIITs" Then we can branch out on the name for the follow up threads.
Or, which I kind of like a bit more, sung in a "if you're happy and you know it clap your hands" way, Using something like "If you're a WIIT and you know it post in here"

AmandaCooper · 19/01/2011 08:27

A few of us didn't know for a while either! It stands for In It Together, which refers to the fact that our waiting to try to conceive thread has now been going on for so long half of us are pregnant!

I'm planning on starting a new waiting thread, so if waiting endlessly for the right time to have that much wanted baby is your bag, you could join that.

flutter6y · 18/01/2011 23:48

hello

sorry to butt in here. (i'm from west yorks too so sure you'll forgive me) but its been bugging me for ages, whilst i lurk wondering which thread to join, but what does IIT (in thread title) stand for?

squirrel007 · 18/01/2011 21:56

100years cheese is one of my favourite things, I'd be sad if I couldn't eat it!

Amanda a waiting thread is good - that's what I meant, in a roundabout way :) I don't think I'd have joined this thread when I was waiting!

bebe how annoying about BT, that's awful service :(

I finally plucked up the courage to watch OBEM, and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Might make DH watch it now to give him an idea of what to expect. I haven't thought that far ahead yet, but the waterbirth looks like a good option.

bebejones · 18/01/2011 21:20

Evening!

Am steaming angry with Bastard British Telecom! They rang our landline (apparently) to tell us they weren't coming. The landline they were coming out to fix because it is fucked (sorry, but I'm cross!) Now they aren't coming until the 26th!!!!!! Angry And then they TEXT ME ON MY MOBILE (thus proving they had another contact number for us) to confirm next weeks appointment! So our landline doesn't work AT ALL, and we have no broadband except the mega expensive dongle thingy! I am LIVID! And DH took a whole afternoon off to wait for them, which is a huge deal, coz he can't do anything from home at the moment. He's self-employed so if he doesn't work he doesn't earn!

Had another rubbish nights sleep too so it's particularly winding me up!

Anyway, enough of my 'woes'!

100/Nannyl - try 'Preggie pops', google them! Wink One of my friends swore by them. I used to use chuppa chups lollies, particularly apple ones. Having something to suck/in my mouth helped stop the nausea. It's miserable, I was so ill. I seem to remember one day I was actually sick 12 times before lunch time! I lost 1.5stone in the first 20 weeks! (Piled it all on, and more after that when eating was the only thing that stopped the constant puking!)

JS - Sorry it was AF, but at least you have some big events to look forward to/plan/participate in & May will be here in no time! :)

Hoping I'll be able to pop on periodically over the next week! Don't talk too much without me! Wink :o

AmandaCooper · 18/01/2011 20:50

I want to be on this thread too of course. Some of us have now joined pregnancy or ttc threads as well as this one and it seems to work.

AmandaCooper · 18/01/2011 20:42

Oh Squirrel of course I want to hear all your updates! That's not the reason at all. It's just nice to have a place on MN for waiters and there must be newbies who wouldn't want to join this thread at this stage.

100years · 18/01/2011 19:28

I don't eat pizza, can't eat cheese, so that's never been something I have ever done to cheer myself up. But I have on occasions had other takeaways

squirrel007 · 18/01/2011 19:25

Thanks 100years :) When I'm feeling fed up I can almost always put it down to PMT, but obviously that's not the case today! But, I just ordered pizza, and feel better already! Blush

100years · 18/01/2011 18:58

squirrel There are loads of people at work who are pg, and are always glad when they reach the definite bump stage, so they know people aren't wondering!

Yeah I will speak to the docs if I don't feel better in a few days, and will keep an eye on my fluids.

Sorry you are feeling fed up. I think sometimes you get times you cannot put your finger on what it is.

squirrel007 · 18/01/2011 18:55

jbells I was hoping the fat stage didn't last too much longer!

strawberrypie and whywait I love Glee too :) Couldn't watch last night though as DH was away and he likes to watch too.

Sorry about AF arriving js :( May isn't too far away now.

bebe sorry to hear you're feeling down :( It's completely understandable though what with everything that's been going on.

Amanda two new threads sounds like a good idea. I guess this one doesn't attract the newbies, and I'm sure you don't always want to read about our pg updates when you're still waiting.

100years and nannyl sorry to hear you're feeling bad. I wouldn't want to go through the first trimester again and am feeling more normal now I'm in the second. If you can't keep anything down though, it is worth seeing the doctor as dehydration is not good when pg.

I am doing okay - feeling really fed up today for some reason (although I can't come up with any logical reason for feeling down) so I'm hoping it's just some hormonal thing that'll pass. Got to go and find something for dinner and I'm not sure what's in the cupboards. At times like this I'm always tempted to order pizza!

100years · 18/01/2011 18:44

nanny while I'm over the moon at being pg, I'm also feeling really bad, and I also would 'smile' that we are going through it together I know it's not something to smile about, I'm not sure anything makes sense. I've managed to keep much more down today, but I still feel fecking awful, and I'm still not eating as much as normal. I've lost 8lbs in 10 days! I've cried loads. The midwife has been over, she is lovely. Said if it gets no better they may admit me for 24 hours to give me iv rehydration, but I'm OK at the moment. She said that I looked grey. Yep, that's how I feel. Explained all the future appointments. It was lovely and now I have a green book!
