Nannyl - such exciting news! Hope that the 2 WW goes quickly and that you get your BFP - what a brilliant start to the New Year that would be!

jinglebellssantasmells · 20/12/2010 11:06

nannyl- its minus 8 here to :( i hate the cold, about pg tests i found that the ebay ones were really good and they detected my bFP the earliest

nannyl · 20/12/2010 10:56

Morning all.

JS, really pleased to here that your move has gone well and that you are enjoying your new job Smile
sorry to read about OH's opinions on having a baby / skiing etc
agree no way would you want to go on holiday to watch everyone else go skiing and have fun!

Thanks for telling me about PG test. Down south my mum lives next to a giant asda, so will have to get some of those. (I only have 5 pg tests here (4 cheap ebay and a tesco, so might get an asda as well)
Plan to test on 31 dec 4 days early, 1Jan 3 days early and 2 Jan (unless of course i get a BFP on 31 dec)...
A got my 1st peak on CBMF this morning Smile
Me and OH now both better so can continue SWI for the next few days!

Ive already had the flu jab (in October) so luckily i donty need to think or worry about that!

Hope everyone has a good monday.
Its -10 up here BRRRR

Poor OH, in his warehouse inside it is -8 Shock both of his forklifts have frozen ad they just dont work in such cold temps.

hes not having a good day.

JustShaggingForNow · 20/12/2010 10:43

Morning all!!

  • Firstly massive congratulations to you WYORKS! Such wonderful news in time for xmas!!
  • Welcome to all the enwcommers. Sorry if I haven't been on here much to welcome you all individually!

I have tried and failed to get through all of the posts that I have missed so was thinking it might be good (for those of us lost on the news front and for the newbies on here) to do a bit of a summary of what is going on in our lives!

Age: 28

Relationship: Married in 2009

TTC: May/June 2011

Reason for waiting: DH isn't ready

Recent news/updates: New job going well.Xmas Smile Slowly adjusting to life outside London. Missing friends but loving living in Bath and in the house!! Missing DH Xmas Sadbut enjoying some "me" time and having lots of fun at weekends!

We had the ILs to lunch yesterday. I had a migraine from Thursday lunchtime and it continued all weekend. Very tedious and made the preparations for the lunch quite hard. It was all a bit stressfull when they arrived but then after I'd had a few glasses of fiz and they'd relaxed it was actually a very fun afternoon.

DH and I ended up having a bit of a baby chat last night as FIL started saying how we should have a family ski holiday next year over New Year. I kept quite quiet about it but everybody else was getting really excited and into the idea. After they had gone DH asked why I wasn't very excited and I pointed out that I was hoping that I would be pregnant next December and that snowboarding with a bump was probably not the best idea.Xmas Hmm Think he thought I'd forgotten all about the baby idea with the new job..... little does he know!

He suggested that if I was pregnant then I could just hang out with his Step Mum (not going to happen, as she drives me mad!!!) and not go up the mountain. I pointed out that there was no way I could hack an entire day of just the 2 of us together, nevermind a whole week and certainly not when everybody else is off having fun on the mountain doing what I want to be doing!

He asked a few questions about maternity pay (bit crap here in the new job TBH but I didn't join for that reason and he knew all along that it was a possibility of it just be statutory) and then seemed even less keen on the idea. Think he was hoping that once in the new job I would love it so much that I wouldn't want to leave to have a baby and if not that there would be some ruling on maternity pay that meant we would have to postpone trying!

We've not talked in depth but I am hoping to still work to our plan of trying in May/June. Not too long to go now!

jinglebellssantasmells · 20/12/2010 10:23

wyorks, i havnt had flu jab, really dont know wot to do and wether to hav it,

my DP also puts it down to his super sperm lol

WYorksLass · 20/12/2010 10:08

Thanks for all the congratulations :)

In answer to all the questions:-

Yep, it was the first month of trying. I guess being relaxed (and lot's of SWI!!!) on honeymoon helped a lot. DH reckons it's all down to his super sperm though Grin

I just used a cheap test from ASDA, i think it was about £3.50 for a pack of 2. They say you can use them up to 4 days before AF is due. I used it 2 days before and the line was pretty strong.

I've peed on 2 sticks so far. I was convinced by the first one but DH wasn't so i did the 2nd one this morning. It was still positive :)

I'm booked into the doctors first thing tomorrow morning. Mainly so i can get the flu jab ASAP.

AmandaCooper · 20/12/2010 08:35

WYorks fantastic news! You must be absolutely over the moon - what an eventful year for you and DH! I was so pleased when I read your news x

strawberrypie · 20/12/2010 07:53

Congratulations WYorks! Fantastic news! You knew you were pregnant all along didn't you! Hehe! Please keep us all updated with the pg x

Sorry to hear about you being stuck bebe! Hope the roads get cleared soon.

Hello and welcome fancyalittle!

I have finally finished making and wrapping xmas presents, still seem to have loads to do before going on hol on Boxing day- hope the airports are ok by then [hmmm]

In other news (sorry if TMI), I started the first AF since stopping the pill 9 weeks ago- was starting to wonder if everything was alright! If we start TTC this month my due date would be 23rd Sept.........but it's a big IF as OH has not found a permanent position yet and is still doing supply teaching.....

bebeinamanger · 19/12/2010 20:39

Squirrel - glad you are feeling a bit more 'normal' today! :)
I'm about 120miles away from DH :( I want to get DD (& me) home for Christmas! The plan was to go home Tuesday. I just have to hope that they have cleared the roads by then & that it doesn't snow on top of the ice!

Fancy - So sorry about your DH. What a huge event to deal with so early on in your marriage! :( Glad he is recovering now. Fingers crossed for you! Hope you don't have to wait too long!

Nannyl - Fingers crossed for you this month! With all your planning lets hope that it is a lucky train after all! Wink

squirrel007 · 19/12/2010 20:05

wyorks that is fantastic news, congratulations!! How exciting to have another bfp on the thread, and just in time for Christmas! Xmas Grin Like jbells, I remember doing far too many pg tests early on because I just couldn't believe it.

jbells sorry to hear you're not feeling so good :( It is rubbish feeling awful due to hormones knowing there's not much you can do to feel better other than wait for it to pass.

bebe sorry to hear you're stuck. How far away from your DH are you? I reckon it's best to stay put if you're able to, unless the journey is easy.

nannyl I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you this month!

fancyalittle welcome to the thread :) Sounds like you've been through a lot, and I can see why you just want to get on with ttc.

100years sorry to hear your weekend was cut short because of the weather, but hope you had a good one anyway!

mrssatsuma hope you enjoyed the party.

Things are good here, I'm feeling quite normal today (except for a nap this afternoon!) and have taken the chance to do all my xmas wrapping and cook a nut roast for xmas dinner. It's currently in the oven and making the house smell lovely - I'm really tempted to eat it tonight instead Xmas Blush. We are off to my parents for xmas day, but as I am the only veggie I normally do my own main course as my mum has enough to do already! And The Apprentice final is on tonight, so I'll be watching that too.

jinglebellssantasmells · 19/12/2010 19:32

wow another BFP, this thread is getting luckier and luckier lol congrats WYorks, cant believe there is already 3 of us pg on here now, try not to worry yourself to much and enjoy the best u can,how many pg tests have u done i did bout 5 before i was convinced, think i just liked peeing on a stick hehe

bebe- i really hope the snow subsides for u soon and u manage to get back to DH wot a horrible situation :(

nannyl- keeping my fingers crossed u will join us on the luvky thread to a BFP :)

fancyalil- welcome to the thread, seems u have been thru quite a lot like someone else sed musthave been an emotional rollercoaster, i am also 25 with baby no2 on the way, wot does your DH think about waiting/trying does he want to wait or start now?

i have a raging headache tonite, been argueing with DP this wkend my hormones r going crazy and i just feel all over the place at the mo,i was the same last pg i dont think the hormones agree with me im emotional at the best of times

nannyl · 19/12/2010 19:29

wyorks can i ask what brand of pg test you used please?

nannyl · 19/12/2010 19:15

Evening all.

welcome to the thread fancyalittle. So sorry to hear about DH's illness, but then looks like you have got it covered Smile. I assume youve read Lance Armstrongs books, i think he proves that testicular cancer really isnt the end.
What an emotional roller coster you and DH must have ridden. Its lovely to here you are happy in your job, and will keep fingers crossed that DH stays close by.

and WYORKS.... how exciting... HUGE congratulations. That really is wonderful news. What a lovely Xmas present for you. Was this your first month of trying? (I have a feeling it was and im closely following you)
Have you worked out your due date yet? Im guessing end Aug? (mine will be 14th sep IF i get pg this month.... so bizarre that if i get pg your child will probably be in a year above mine at school, unless he / she arrives late)

Well in the last few days i have been getting better but poor OH has been really poorly (I shared my cold).
I couldnt beleive our luck, and TBH was really upset and frustrated it all.

That said im on day 13 and have managed to SWI the last couple of days (though i think it nearly killed DH yesturday Sad, but he kept going lol)
OH is starting to get better now though and is feeling well in himself today so i guess thats a good thing.

Dont know why but i just have a feeling im not gonna get pg this month Sad I really hope i do and we are trying. If we dont can put it down to both of us being poorly!

Bebe sorry to hear you are stuck. Amazingly here in yorkshire we have hardly any snow at all. I reckon we got 1mm early sat morning and thats it! The pavements are still icey though as that 1mm has turned to sheet ice and the pavements still look white!
Dont want any more snow as wanna travel boxing day and the journey is bad enough when the weather and traffic are perfect!... and we have 45mins of cross country 'last of the summer wine' roads (in good driving conditons) before we even make it to the motorway! Really dont wanna be doing that in snow / ice!

mrssatsuma had to lol at practising doing a pg test! Have fun practising!!!!

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend and not been to put out by the snow...
Im now officially on my 2WW (although right now its 15 days / 2W&day!)... although ill rpob test a few days early so will call it my 2WW! Wink

FancyALittle · 19/12/2010 18:25

Hi bebe - thanks for the welcome!

So, DH and I are 25 and been together for nearly 6 years. We got married this year, but also this year found out that DH had testicular cancer. He had his operation and he's been A-OK since then, undergoing lots of surveillance for the next two years. Have been told there shouldn't be problems when we want children, but have banked sperm (on the day before our wedding!) as an insurance policy.

I recently started a new job (which I love) and DH is currently applying for jobs that will start next August. We don't know where in the country that may take him, so it's going to be wisest to wait until we find out in March what the situation will be. Hopefully it will be in the area where we are now (because I really do love my new job!)

Really should wait, but at the same time it feels like we've been waiting for ages already and want to prove there's life after cancer in the most obvious way!

bebeinamanger · 19/12/2010 17:47

Yay WYorks!!! How exciting!! Don't go deserting us now though, we will need updates!! Wink Will keep everything crossd it's a sticky bean for you! Is this a honeymoon baby?

Welcome FancyALittle! :) What's your situation, why are you waiting/dithering?

I think I may be stuck at my mums! Xmas Confused I need to get back to DH before Christmas, but there is at least 8 inches of snow still & more possibly forecast over the next few days! Don't know what to do for the best! :(

FancyALittle · 19/12/2010 17:43

I've been dithering, waiting, fretting, pondering! I think the waiting will have to go on for just a little bit longer (the sensible thing to do). Can I join this thread?

WYorksLass · 19/12/2010 17:40

Hi, sorry i haven't been around much this week, i was going a bit mad symptom spotting!

Anyway, it seems my instincts were right, we did a test on Saturday (2 days before AF due) and got...

A BFP!!!!!!!!! Grin

Thanks for crossing your fingers for us, please keep them crossed it all continues ok. I'm very excited but also nervous of something going wrong at this early stage.

jinglebellssantasmells · 19/12/2010 08:46

morning everyone, just checking in b4 i get ready for work, really not looking forward to trying to drive out there or unbury my car out the snow.

Hope everyone has a nice sunday

MrsSatsuma · 18/12/2010 23:14

I've been desperate for snow for ages, but wish it had come at another time rather than this weekend! PIL and mum couldn't come for long-planned dinner, and we've got plans to see friends next week that I hope we can still do. I'm not moaning too much though as have been reading mumoverseas's post on the other forum about her DCs not getting flights out to her because of it so they won't be there for Christmas, and another whose wedding has had to be cancelled, so I can't really complain. Going to make most of the gained time by getting up to date with housework so I don't worry about it over Christmas! Can also go to friend's party tomorrow which I was going to miss (I can walk there) so every cloud... Hope everybody else's plans haven't been badly affected!

Bought PG test today... thought I might feel better in the 2WW if I at least practice doing one..!!! Xmas Blush

bebeinamanger · 18/12/2010 21:52

I don't have any style anyway, so being pregnant doesn't impact on that with me! :o

Glad everyone is safe and ok! I fear I may be stranded at my mums. We went out here this afternoon (having religiously monitoring the weather forecasts & no snow being predicted) no snow to be seen, not even a hint and when we left the pottery painting place (an hour later) there was 2 inches of snow on the ground & it was still coming down heavy! Hmm Took 15mins to get back from town centre 1.5miles then took me an hour to drive back to my mums other house where we are staying. Had to get the neighbours to push my car up the drive! The snow is nearly knee deep! DD can't wait to play in it 2moro, I'm gutted I left her sledge at home, but I fear she may disappear in the snow! It'll be up to her waist I should think!

I love the snow, but not when I have a scary night time drive! Hit a blizzard on the way here...again, not forecast by the weather people in the area I was going through!!! Hmm Confused

100years · 18/12/2010 20:40

Weekend was cut short due to the weather. We made it up north for the meal last night, then headed to my future-in-law's and it was pretty rubbish driving across the Pennines in the snow in the middle of the night, this morning kind of thought it would be better just to head home and miss the party, turns out the people who were local weren't even going to make it so we were not the only ones. Made it home in one piece, and have tonnes of snow here, loads of breakdowns, seen a load of cars that had had a prang, and a few stranded lorries. Still we are in the warm and dry now, had a laugh when we nipped to OH's sister and ended up pushing each other into hedges.

Hope everyone is doing OK. Xmas Smile

Welcome back to the fold MrsSatsuma :)

I'm looking forward to my style going out of the window, although I will prob hate it when it happens.

jinglebellssantasmells · 18/12/2010 16:23

hey squirral, i must say at 18 weeks my style has already gone out the window the mat clothes ive looked at r horrid, ive only got one pair of pre preg jeans that still fits me now aswell and its getting far too cold for leggins, i remember when i was getting to the end of my pg with DD and longing to wear normal clothes agen, got a feeling im goin to be fed up of being pg in no time, my hormones r completely up the wall and im constantly feeling upset and wingy :( im wondering whether this 2nd trimester glow actually exists

squirrel007 · 18/12/2010 15:17

Hi everyone! I'm loving the christmas names :)

bebe and jbells I thought I was a bit over 11 weeks, but turns out I was only 10. To be honest, I didn't really have much of an idea as I'd just had the coil out and my cycles are normally irregular anyway. I didn't complain when the mw put down that I would have been 12 weeks as I knew that way I'd at least have a scan before xmas! They didn't give me a due date, I have another scan in Jan for that.

jbells glad you have found your passport! And really exciting about feeling the baby move! I'm looking forward to that bit :) Hope the snow isn't too bad today.

I'm feeling pretty good here today, which is so nice after weeks of feeling grotty. I went shopping and have bought myself a few long expandable jumpers and some jeans to get me through the next few weeks. I have put on a bit of weight round my waist already, and a lot of my clothes don't look so good anymore :( But I will do some more sales shopping after xmas and hopefully I can manage to do pregnancy with style!

Hope you're all well and not too cold Xmas Smile

jinglebellssantasmells · 17/12/2010 19:47

ahhhh we have thick snow and its only been falling for an hour :(

i hate snow boooo

MrsSatsuma · 17/12/2010 17:29

Hello all! End of term madness is now over (thank goodness) so can indulge in MNing again! Which is pretty much the only communication I can cope with at the moment, having totally lost my voice :( Was ill at weekend but fine now, just v frustrated!! Odd symptoms of no appetite and occasionally go dizzy, plus cramps like period pains but not the right time. All possible pg symptoms according to what I've read but think it's probably too early in cycle (am on day 18). Am trying not to get my hopes up as could just be left over from weekend illness.

Enough about me... hope everyone else is okay! AC good luck with your interview - fingers crossed for you. nannyl Agree with Squirrel about the bottlegreen stuff - it's brilliant. Apparently garlic is very good for colds too.
