Make yourselves at home everyone. Jake & George are just loading everyone's 'baggage'! Wink

Good to hear you sounding a bit better Bebe but sorry to hear about the nightmares. I had terrible nightmares when on hol and thought it might have something to do with the altitude as I seem ok now I'm back.

JS- I have just read 'The Snowman' and have started one of his other ones 'The Redeemer'. I'll let you know if it's any good! I saw that Jo Nesbo was being compared to Stieg Larsson and I absolutely loved his books.

I'm another one who taped OBEM and watched Glee! I love it even though it is soooooo cheesy. Looking forward to watching the dramatics on OBEM though- I remember one from last year where the midwives were rolling their eyes at each other outside the door when one young girl was going over the top!

Jbells I hope you get your hols sorted. I wonder why OH does not fancy Malta? Do you tend to spend a lot of time with your family when you are there? (quite understandably!) Would he be more keen if you put some time aside to spend together just the three of you as well? Or what about visiting a different part of Malta which will be a bit different but you can still see your family? Sorry if these suggestions are off the mark- hope you get things worked out x

Hope the pregnant ladies are feeling ok- I have visions of you being waited on by Jake, George (and now Damon?) and being hand fed those ginger oatcakes recommended by bebe :)

bebejones · 11/01/2011 12:54

Oh JBells :( Train must be going through a bit of a dark tunnel right now!

These men just don't seem to realise how their actions affect us do they? Would you be able to maybe afford a holiday closer to home? Or what about a last minute deal or just a weekend away? It is perfectly understandable that you would want to see your family before you have the baby. But just because you would be going there doesn't mean that you can't do things on your own without involving your family. Really hope you can find a compromise & that he can understand where you are coming from.

My DH is set on having a holiday this year. Just not really convinced he has thought it through! Hmm

morning all

AC-how funy cant believe it was just a leaf

bebe- your mind is probably processing everythin i can never sleep well when im goin thru something serious

squirral- i tortured myself by watching loads of birth programs when pg with DD, DP wont watch any he sed it feels intrusive watching someone else give birth, so i recored OBEM still makes me cringe even tho i have been thru it

JS- i cant read scary books or watch scary films im such a wimp

well DP sprung on me last nite that he mite be losing his travel allowance that amounts to over 300 pound a month, i am really struggling for money since my contract ended in last job and still paying for DD's nursery i am spending way more than im earning each month and needed him to take more of the bills from me cue lots of crying from me, DP didnt seem bothered or concerned in the slightest Hmm

also he upset me as i wanted to try and find a cheapest holiday for us to go away as a family togther b4 new addition arrives i told him money wise i was prob being unrealistic and we cudnt afford it to which he sed fine, then suggested going to malta where cud get deal thru family for 300 pound for 5 star hotel for a week plus flights for all of us but wud need money for food, i sed it wud also be nice to see my dad and family whilst i am pg and b4 next baby arrives as dont know how long it will be till we go over agen, my dad is in prison over there so cant come to see me which really upsets me when major things are happening in my life, DP sed malta doesnt feel like a holiday and he doesnt want to go i can go on my own if i want :( he just doesnt seem to have any sympathy or empathy at the moment to which i told him and his reply was neither do u Hmm i told him hes not the one whos upset y do i need to sympathetic towards him if hes not upset, not a very happy bunny but doubt anything will change in a hurry

sorry for long post

JustShaggingForNow · 11/01/2011 10:35

Funny. When it was first on last year I didn't watch it as thought it would scare me. I then ended up watching it on 4OD and really enjoying it and didn't find it scary at all.

The one last night was quite funny actually. One woman was literally screaming the ward down. Think she was being a little bit overly dramatic as she was still screaching and groaning after the epidural when by her own admission she couldn't feel anything!!!

Makes good TV though!

bebejones · 11/01/2011 10:17

Squirrel - I managed to stay blissfully ignorant until I had to go to the 'parentcraft' classes at about 7months & then it all started to actually sink in! Wasn't a bad plan....Hmm Wink

JustShaggingForNow · 11/01/2011 10:10

:) It's this one Super scary!!!

squirrel007 · 11/01/2011 10:08

Now I am imagining a nightmare where I'm flying through the air with a snowman who is melting mid-air!! :)

AC love the leaf story too.

Didn't watch OBEM as I'm too scared to know what I've let myself in for Blush I'd rather be blissfully ignorant for now.

bebejones · 11/01/2011 09:53

My dreams mainly consisted of running away from a dark shape & trying to rescue a small faceless child who was wearing DDs clothes. No prizes for guessing what that means!! Hmm

JS - By 'the snowman' I guess you aren't talking about the Raymond Briggs one? Wink [clueless emoticon]

Possibly your anxiety about being accidentally upduffed is exagerating 'symptoms'?!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 11/01/2011 09:05

Hahaha! hilarious AC!!
Bebe - sorry to hear that you had some horrible nightmares and didn't sleep very well last night.

I feel utterly shattered and have got some odd abdominal pains today. Probably nothing other than too much exercise and not enough sleep but will be pleased when AF arrives and puts my mind at rest! (Much as I'd love to have got accidentally upduffed, DH would hit the roof!!!)

I've been reading "The Snowman" and almost finished it last night. It's pretty gruesome and I was sure that reading it before going to sleep in the house alone was going to give me horrific nightmares but luckily I escaped.

bebejones · 11/01/2011 08:56

That has really brightened my morning! lol Very funny! Was she suitable embarrassed when she realised it was just a leaf?

Hardly slept last night, horrible nightmares! So feel like death this morning whilst DD is full of beans!

AmandaCooper · 11/01/2011 08:10

Come to think of it that same friend has since given birth at home unassisted and with no pain relief. I'll ask how that compared with the leaf incident.

AmandaCooper · 11/01/2011 08:07

It did hurt - right up to the moment we realised it was just a leaf. It was all psychological.

bebejones · 11/01/2011 08:00

Lmao! Really? That is hilarious! Did she not wonder why it didn't hurt?!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 11/01/2011 06:55

However I once witnessed a friend of mine screaming and panicking like that (slightly less extreme) because she thought she'd cut her foot open. It turned out she had a red leaf stuck to her foot.

JustShaggingForNow · 10/01/2011 23:05

OMG. A lot of screaming in rather a hysterical fashion!!! Surely it can't be that horrific (she sounded like she was being murdered!!!!)

bebejones · 10/01/2011 22:04

:o Hmm You never know!!

I don't think I did much screaming, did lots of 'Oww Oww Oww'! Hmm

Definitely not one to watch with DH though!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 10/01/2011 22:01

There's a lot of screaming, Bebe, you might be put off - problem solved!

bebejones · 10/01/2011 21:58

I am recording it! Think it's one to watch on my own! :(

Watching Glee instead!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 10/01/2011 20:58

Are we all ready to watch One Born Every Minute? To my delight, DH has popped out to fix his uncle's outside light, so I can watch it!!

squirrel007 · 10/01/2011 19:06

bebe don't worry about taking over the thread! It's good to talk things over :) I also don't think it's at all unreasonable for him to consider your views, like I said earlier there's no reason that his view is any more valid than yours. Although, sadly, having kids is one of those things where there's no real compromise - you either do or you don't.

100years can see why you aren't keen to cycle if you had an accident so recently. I am still cycling to work, but I have a nice easy route through the back streets, so fairly low risk for me. Would be more wary of the main roads now though.

js I'm impressed with the training so far! Don't think I've ever done that much in one week Shock

I told my immediate boss today (he was just back from holidays). It's not an ideal time to happen at work due to our budget cuts and other stuff going on, but he was really nice about it. So that's a relief :) I'm hoping to keep it quiet from everyone else for a little while longer (mainly just because I don't like being gossiped about!)

Hope you're all well!

bebejones · 10/01/2011 16:44

Pub looks lovely! Miss going to the pub, not been since the summer! Might have to wait til the evenings are a bit lighter to meet up I think (hate driving in Bristol, the road layout has changed & I am easily confused). Especially with all the scary stuff going on in Bristol/Clifton at the moment. (That poor girl & her family, makes me feel so awful thinking about it) I would probably have to bring DD with me too, which might not be so good!

Had cancelled this meeting with my friend twice (well, one time I did & one time she did) so didn't think I could cancel again. Was quite nice to go & see the LO. Shes just got to that really cute smiley, interested in everything stage. :)

Monkton Farleigh even!!!

JustShaggingForNow · 10/01/2011 16:27

ARGH Angry posted and then the site crashed!!

Bebe - well done to you for going and seing your friend and her newborn when you are feeling so miserable. I would probably have been crap adn postponed.

Also very impressive on the diet and exercise front (says me having chomped my way through a mountin of food already today!!!) I know what you mean about hilly walks in this area. However we found one on Sunday that sis a loop from an amazing pub in Monketon Farleigh with a truly FANTASTIC menu!! The loop is 12k but you could make it shorter and it is predominently flat with some spectacular views. Do you want me to send you a PDF of it?

Also - if you feel like meeting up in Bristol for a drink and rant/cry/moan etc then just shout as I can easily come and meet you when I finish work. It should only take me 15 mins to the centre of town and I finish at 5pm.

Keep strong xxx

bebejones · 10/01/2011 16:10

Spent the morning with my friend & her little girl, same age as DD. She has a 4month old & DD kept giving her kisses & cuddles & saying, 'Ahhhhhhh, love baby!' :(

OP posts:
bebejones · 10/01/2011 16:09

She shrieks with delight every day when he gets home. Regularly cuddles up to him & says 'Daddy, I missed you today'! She tells him she loves him all the time. In fact, earlier today she cried coz she wanted to see him & I said we couldn't go to his office coz he was working! :( She loves babies, and I know she would love a sibling. Feel a bit helpless!

I'm back on the diet now (after the excess of Christmas) I know I ought to step up the exercise but my bloody hip is still not 'right'! Hmm Don't want to make it any worse! Trouble is with walking in the West-Country (as I'm sure you are aware) is the sneaky bloomin' hills! I grew up in East Anglia, or 'flat land' as my FIL calls it!!
